Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Manpam and ginger bread I'm getting married on bank holiday Monday 25 august (2 days before my 40th birthday) to my gorgeous welsh bloke Steve. Getting married in Llandudno register office a grade 2 listed building and theme a meal in a hotel. Very intimate only about 20 people. My dress is ivory and States off the shoulder abit of bling but not much. Wish I could post a pic. Our second time, more excited this time as I'm so in love and I've finally found my mr right.

PaulaFletch14 · 09/03/2014 19:46

That should say straps off the shoulder

Gingerbreadlady1 · 09/03/2014 20:26

Oooo, sounds lovely! You can post pictures on your profile but not sure how. So nice to have something exciting to count down too, we're renovating an old house so every penny goes to that ('& possible ivf fund), so no holidays for us this year. Missing having that something nice to count down too.

mampam don't envy you, hate filling in applications. Is it a move, change of direction, ft/pt. fx for you. Can imagine armeggedon over broadband lol! I'm in Scotland, sounds like weather down south in much nicer.

Morning all,

Well, I think I'm out this month even though it's only 9DPO. Had first (sorry about TMI) coloured CM yesterday which for me always indicates the start of AF, even though it may still be a few days away. Plus woke up with a horrid hot flush last night which is another sure sign for me.

Just hope that my cycle returns to normal next month because I used to have terrible LP which meant that I would start spotting as early as 7 or 8DPO, thus not giving any egg time to implant. Even progesterone pessaries didn't sort it out, but since the lap and dye that seemed to have improved. So I hope it's not reverting back otherwise there's no chance Sad.

Mampam, any signs hun? Where are you at in your cycle now?

Hi Tranquility!! Lovely name!! x

Tranquilitybaby · 10/03/2014 09:10

Hello again, sorry here's a little info about me.

I'm 36 have two children, 11 & 9 and after years of do we don't we, we've decided to go for no. 3. I suffer from health anxiety which I didn't so much with our other two so this is going to be a test for me that's for sure!

We want to just be relaxed about TTC at the moment so I'm not planning on using opk etc at the moment. I think I ovulate around cd10-11 most months though as have twinges and lots of EWCM.

Good luck to everyone else, it's nice to be part of a community. :)

Tranquilitybaby · 10/03/2014 09:11

Katnisscupcake, I had that with my last pregnabxy so don't rule it out yet!! :) good luck

Could well be implantation bleeding x

Tranquilitybaby · 10/03/2014 09:12

How do I get the names to highlight? I'm on my phone if that makes a difference? X

Katnisscupcake · 10/03/2014 10:25

Tranquility, if you put asterisks around the name, it will put it in bold Smile.

You could be right, but unfortunately I had implantation bleeding with two of my 3 pgs and both of them ended in MC Sad, so I don't have a very good track record with implantation bleeding... Who knows, it could be different this time though, if it does end up as a BFP...

It's lovely being part of a group, nice to be able to chat to people going through the same thing as you. Smile

Tranquilitybaby · 10/03/2014 10:50

Ah brilliant thank you katnisscupcake

Keeping everything crossed for you. Keep positive and hope you get good news soon! Xxx

maybefaraway · 10/03/2014 10:53

Hi everyone, have been lurking for a while now - well, since December. Aged 36 (yesterday - so still 35 really?!?!) ttc #3, cycle 4 - but having 40 day cycles so feels like much longer. Was diagnosed PCOS aged 18, and underactive thyroid post dc1, so am worried as I got pregnant first time with dcs1&2. I take 150mcg levythyroxine. Overemotional and tired anyway, so heartbreaking everytime AF arrives and madly symptom spotting given that she takes sooo long to show up! Had really thought I'd get a bfp yest, and then got AF this morning instead. Also finding it impossible to predict ovulation or even work out when I'm ovulating. Sorry - having a bad day!!!!

Tranquilitybaby · 10/03/2014 10:59

maybefaraway sorry to hear you're having a tough time at the moment, but it's totally understandable.

If you've conceived quickly twice before, hopefully it won't take too much longer this time round.

Try and get out for a bit of fresh air today and it might perk you up a bit. Hugs x

mampam · 10/03/2014 11:00

Paula your wedding sounds like it's going to be wonderful and your wedding dress sounds very sophisticated and beautiful. It's so lovely that you have found your Mr right, I did too and couldn't be happier. I was young and foolish when I got married the first time and the second time around is great. DH and I have nearly been married now for 7 years.

Ginger I've training to work with children for the last 18 months and am currently a student on a work placement, this job, if I get it, would be my first paid employment in this sector. Eeek. I'm really struggling with the section that says why do I want the job and list any hobbies or volunteering? Hobbies! I've got 3 DC I have no time for a hobby Wink I'll work it out I'm sure.

We live at opposite ends of the uk, I live almost at the most southerly point of Devon! So not as cold as Scotland perhaps?

Katniss no other symptoms, still getting belly ache, nipples quite sensitive but that could be a sign of AF and I feel like poop but that isn't really a sign of anything. Think AF due tomorrow or Weds.

Don't give up hope Katniss you never know. Do you gdt any specific symptoms when first pg? I only really had symptoms with dc3.

mampam · 10/03/2014 11:04

Sorry for typo's, I'm not with it this morn.

Katnisscupcake · 10/03/2014 11:05

Oooh Mampam, I'm in South Devon aswell!!! Near Torquay, where are you?

As for your symptoms question, I thought I got symptoms but since TTC Number 2 I've had exactly the same symptoms every month and not been PG!! So no, the symptoms, I find, are pretty much the same whether AF or PG...

maybefaraway · 10/03/2014 11:16

Thanks tranquility - have to much work to do unfortunately! DCs both in school, so paperwork time! Joys. Feels like an eternity ago I had my babies - ttc #3 a few years ago and gave up after six months, so feels quite hopeless trying again. Am not very good at ttc and staying positive, almost easier to convince myself I dont want more dcs - but I really really really do!!!!

maybefaraway · 10/03/2014 11:17

Sorry tranquility - realise we are in a similar situation in some ways and really don't want to dishearten you! Suspect my thyroid troubles, pcos and long cycles are a problem and that i should go to GP. Ugh.

exhaustedmummymoo · 10/03/2014 11:18

Hi gingerbread I was late 30s took 6 years tc my first and now have two beautiful babies. Just be aware that yes at 35 fertility drops...but then whummf body peaks again so you might end up with twins!!

mampam · 10/03/2014 11:28

It's a small world Katniss I know Torquay well, my grandparents lived in Brixham when I was a child and all my dc were born in Torbay hospital (I was too). I live between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth.

I hate the whole symptom spotting it's awful and we all do it. Unless you have unmistakable symptoms like I did with dc3.....boobs that were so sore I didn't know what to do with myself, I hated dh, went off wine, had a kfc that tasted too chickeny! ........ I guess a late af and a bfp is the only real way to tell and by the way, I had all of those symptoms staring me in the face but we were on our hols and it never once occurred to me, even though ttc, what it was! ........DOH. The wait post ovulation is horrid. I've got everything crossed for you. Lots of hugs being sent your way too.

Katnisscupcake · 10/03/2014 11:52

Ahhh my younger siblings were born in Torbay Hospital as was DD Mampam. I'm actually in Newton Abbot and head down your way quite a bit - love the South Hams!!

Sorry I didn't respond to your posts Maybe and sorry you're having such an awful time. You've stumbled on a supportive group here though, you can talk to us anytime. I work from home so I'm pretty much online a lot of the time...

We've all been through (and are going through) difficult times. If you do decide to go and see your GP, I hope you get an understanding one. I really did, they were quick at referring me because of my age and it really helps when people understand, or at least try to.

Mampam, I know what you mean about symptoms. I was convinced when I was PG with DD about the symptoms and it's not that you try and fail month after month that you realize the symptoms are the same. It doesn't stop you thinking 'what if' though EVERY time you get a symptom!!

Good luck to you aswell Mampam. Odds are it'll be one of us - and I hope it is, we deserve it. Smile xx

maybefaraway · 10/03/2014 12:42

Thanks katniss - I love these boards as knowing it is really not just me, and that actually I'm very lucky indeed, is a bloody good reminder.

mampam · 10/03/2014 17:50

Newton Abbot Katniss is where DD1 goes to the orthodontist in Devon Square!! We actually live on the other side of the estuary from Salcombe but you have to drive to it through the back lanes roughly half way between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge.

I find with the symptom spotting I'm desperately seeking that something that wasn't there last month or a combination of lots of things, so many that it's unmistakable I'm pg!!! Doesn't seem to happen though. I do remember with DD1 and DS that I just knew but that was a long time ago and I was much younger (had DD1 when 19 and DS when I was 23).

In my post natal class when I had DD1 there were 3 women who used to joke about being old enough to be my mum (!) and I think the youngest of them was 38. One of them went on to have another too. Never give up hope and what exhausted says is definitely true about the body peaking. I have a friend who when she was 39 got preggers even though she had taken the morning after pill. I also know a woman older than me who was ttc#3 and is currently pregnant with #3 + #4!! Grin not sure she was expecting that!!

maybe sorry you are feeling down at the moment. I too have long cycles and they are never the same length each month so I have no idea when I ovulate or 100% when to expect AF, it's very frustrating. Good luck with the doctors, I'm not sure what it means for fertility to have thyroid problems or PCOS though but hopefully they can help you Smile

Fankletastic · 10/03/2014 17:55

Hi all - this thread seems to be getting busy now!

Ginger I googled the research Earhat suggested but it came up with an article from Red magazine and a bunch of other websites actually refuting the research...so I gave up and forgot about it all weekend. If you could post the link that would be helpful, as I think I must have missed it. Or I'll look again later.

Are you nearing ov now or are you a bit of a late ov'er, like me? I've been ov'ing on CD16/17 lately and this is only day 10. I plan to try to take it easy this cycle and not do enforced daily shagging! Not sure whether to do opks this month...I guess I should decide soon though. Have also been allowing myself to indulge in more alcohol than usual this last week - naughty! But nice Grin. I think I've definitely had maximum units this week.

How's everyone else? Enjoying the weather I hope. I hung out my washing this morning. I generally have problems with the passage of time/change of seasons because I tend to remember 'this time a year ago I wasn't pregnant and I'm still not pregnant' etc, but I do love the arrival of Spring Smile

PaulaFletch14 · 10/03/2014 18:07

Thanks Mampam

You're right second time is much better. I met my ex husband at 22. We wanted very different things from life. Hence TTC at 39 with my lovely fiancé. I miscarries three months ago. My fiancé has two daughters from his first marriage which I really struggle with. In fact I hate it he has kids with someone else. But apart from that it's perfect Grin

Katnisscupcake · 10/03/2014 19:07

I have a very good friend who uses that orthodontist mampam Smile.

So had some more old-blood-tinged cm today so know I'm out this month. Just need her to turn up properly now so we can start the next cycle. A bit fed up but feel ok.

But every month at this time I ask myself how I'm going to make the decision that enough is enough. We've already agreed that we wouldn't go down the ivf route because we have dd, but we need to make a decision at some point. Has anyone else thought about that? Sounds a bit defeatest I know, but it does play on my mind. I wonder if I would feel more relaxed and enjoy life once the decision is made??

I hope everyone is ok.
