but imps with icsi they need to choose a good looking sperm. anyway as you say that's his choice. why is he wary of ivf if it's worked for his sister?

kip is gorgeous thank you. over 7m now, sitting and everything Shock all my Nct friends are talking about when to have the next. most of them instadiffers Angry but we have 3 frosties in thailand

Imps9 · 16/06/2014 16:25

He is wary of it Keep cos he saw how difficult it was for it to work and the expense/heartache it caused. I think he's concerned about me going through the medication/procedures to no avail (we are not currently in a position to afford private treatment). There really isn't any particular reason why it won't work for us, other than the usual probabilities, but given that his only experience of IVF is his sister's which wasn't at all straightforward, he's not wanting to rely on it as being the solution to our difficulties. Does that make any sense at all?

farfallarocks · 16/06/2014 17:48

Apologies for my slightly dramatic and self centred post on Sat night, I was a little, ahem, tipsy after watching the football.
Next month will be the month, I am sure.

imps your poor dh, I imagine what he is feeling is totally normal and its hard being the one with the 'problem.'
How many goes of IVF do you get? At your age the stats are really good for it working.

keep did I miss something, why are the frosties in Thailand?

farfallarocks · 16/06/2014 17:51

keep was going to say, cycles are regular, I stopped feeding babyfar a year ago now when she was 6 months. In fact I don't get the spotting that I used to get (or the acne!) so I am hoping that pregnancy sorted out my PCOS which it sometimes does. I have not had a scan to check this out though.
Cycles are fairly short but they always have been. I did read somewhere that this can be a sign of declining fertility but am hoping this is not the case!!

Pastamancer · 16/06/2014 18:38

Frosties are in Thailand as that is where Keep was living at the time of her IVF.

Far you are most definitely going to get your BFP this month cos I said so.

Imps his sister was clearly not a brooker but you are so will not need as many IVF cycles

keepitgoing · 16/06/2014 20:53

yes, we lived in Thailand, came back last summer Smile dh privately fretted I'd have a Thai baby but happily she's clearly not so looks like they didn't mix up our embryos ...

imps yes, that makes sense but I agree - you're a brooker and that's what counts! I think male factor is quite easily overcome by ivf so the chances are great. it's stressful but we will be here for hand holding. and even if it takes multiple cycles it's worth it. ivf is amazing, hey maybe? how are you two doing? x

NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/06/2014 22:28

Don't apologise Far, we like a but of drama Wink

How you doing Pasta?

I agree Imps, there's no reason why this won't work. I'm simply brooking no argument.

We are good thanks Keep. A is 11 weeks already. She's growing like there's no tomorrow, I fear I have a giant on my hands Wink. Oh, and I've already been visited by AF. The same day as the 8 weeks jabs. I sodding feed every two hours, god knows how she for through. I'm hoping it was a one off x

NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/06/2014 22:29

Oh, yes Keep. IVF is beyond amazing x

keepitgoing · 17/06/2014 06:48

well if AF has visited you that leaves us awaiting a bfp...Wink I think if you have a gap at night if lucky enough to have a sleeper she can sneak in. 7m here and nowt Smile

NoMaybeAboutIt · 17/06/2014 08:31

Haha Keep, no gaps for me. 3 hours max! I seem to be in the lucky 2%! So very unfair. But you're right, that leaves a space Wink.

Imps9 · 18/06/2014 08:12

Far I thought your drama was excellent - was like I was watching some BBC crime thriller - you should win a BAFTA for it at the very least. Seriously though, nowt wrong with a smidgen of sadness from time to time in this game - we can muster up extra brooking to cover these occasions, never you fear.

Keep I hadn't realised that you were back from Thailand! Great that you have some frosties - presumably you can go back to use them? Do you think you will? Tricky about the second child - it's really so easy for these instadiffers isn't it? I hope they know how genuinely fortunate they are in that respect.

Pasta how's it going with you? Popped an egg yet? How is DH's job search going?

It's grey and raining here again today. WHERE IS SUMMER THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO KNOW.

Imps9 · 18/06/2014 08:15

Oh and Far - not sure how many ICSI attempts we get here - think it's 3 but don't know that for certain.

Also Maybe - do you know what the process is if one wants to have a second child? Do you have to start from scratch with the try-for-two-years, investigations, referral etc?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/06/2014 09:56

Not at all Imps, as it will all be private and not NHS. You will just go back to your clinic and start treatment. We are lucky enough to have another 4 top grade frosties, so will be a case if having them transferred back. I'm sure where you are is the same trust as me, and you're right, 3 fresh cycles and three frozen x

keepitgoing · 18/06/2014 12:34

imps we came back when I was about 23 weeks pg. I think the plan is to fly the frosties over rather than me as it would be a hassle to time cycles etc... will think about it in a year or so not using protection now anyway

3 cycles is great!! not that you'll need them of course.

I make it my mission to make instadiffers understand fertility issues - that they exist and how hard they are.

Imps9 · 18/06/2014 15:46

Oooooh 4 top grade frosties Maybe! Spuds like ICSI worked like a dream for you. Did they fertilise all the eggs they collected?

Keep I have images of little frozen embryos wearing Superman capes flying across on a mission to diff you up. When do you think you may go for it?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/06/2014 16:11

Grin Imps

They collected 16 eggs, 15 were mature and 9 fertilised. We were very lucky

Imps9 · 18/06/2014 16:54

Oh ha ha Impsfingers strikes again!

If they fertilised 9 and have frozen 4, what happened to the others (well, apart from the one which is your daughter)? Will they only freeze 4 or were the others not top grade?

farfallarocks · 18/06/2014 17:53

Great that you get 3 cycles, not that you will need them imps!!
keep my friend is about to start IVF in Thailand, apparently its a great clinic and she has had a really tough time so I am brooking for her too.

Waving to everyone else, very quick post as am trying to clear my desk before 2.5 weeks holiday! Can't wait to spend all that time with DH and babyfar, life is so frantic at the moment.

AF is toying with me, have had cramps for 8 days and still nothing, longest cycle ever but BFNs! I really want AF to start so I can still get some holiday action and subsequent BFP in!!

Have a great couple of weeks all and I will try and check in to see all the BFPs

xxx

keepitgoing · 18/06/2014 19:01

ooh have a great holiday far! perfect for smacking that rat

imps we had 11 eggs, 7 fertilised, 1 put back + 3 frosties. the others didn't develop normally ie fragmented/stopped growing etc. I think I will be back on this thread next spring/summer. though keep checking out pregnant women and newborns....

keepitgoing · 18/06/2014 19:03

far my clinic was great though the Thai medical system is quite paternalistic but we just told them what we wanted. good luck to your friend. I did actually a blog whilst doing it with my thoughts on the clinic etc.

Pastamancer · 18/06/2014 19:38

Being one of those pesky instadiffers well so far anyway I can promise you that I am very aware of how unfair TTC can be. I wish everyone could be instadiffers and if I could pass it on to you I would do so in a heartbeat.

N was born at the end of May and AF returned in August, I only had 1 month between the lochia stopping and AF returning.

keepitgoing · 18/06/2014 20:00

pasta but that's the point. you know it's not easy for everyone and are sensitive. also you've had your own issues too x
plus, only a month off from AF? that's harsh!! I've almost forgotten her existence...

Pastamancer · 18/06/2014 20:33

It wasn't from lack of feeding, I'm still feeding her and she's 2 now :o

I have no idea if I have laid an egg yet, I don't monitor cos I'm too lazy so will just keep DTD. I'm on cd 17 today and my cycles average 29 days so not sure when to stop.

Imps9 · 18/06/2014 20:49

Oooh nowt wrong with an instadiffer Pasta - as Keep said, it's the instadiffers who lack sensitivity/understanding/tact who can grate. Anyway, you are STILL an instadiffer as you are DIFFED already and I am brooking no argument.

Far - 2.5 weeks, oh lucky lucky you :) I had 2.5 weeks in May and it was the most amazingly long lazy time ever. Are you going overseas or staycationing? p.s. 8 days late and still BFN? Pah, you are merely testing too soon. DIFFED!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/06/2014 21:16

Pasta, I'm glad I'm not alone. I thought my body was broken when AF appeared!!

Imps the other 4 were ok, but the clinic took the stance that we had 5 top grade embryos, and wouldn't have put the others back above these. And if they hadn't stuck, then they wouldn't recommended another full cycle as it went so well. If that makes sense?!

Keep how exciting!! I already want to go again. MrM said to me the other day that if we had the money to move house, we would cycle again straight away. But the house is a distant dream for now.

Far, where are you off to? Have a lovely time x
