Over here all breastfeeding ttcers! Welcome to our thread - a place for us to come for support, information and to talk about the extra challenges of ttc while still breastfeeding (or expressing like myself).

I thought I should go ahead and start the new thread as the old one is about to fill up and I didn't want anyone to get lost (hope that's ok Waiting and that you haven't already done this and I just missed it!)

For anyone who is new to the thread or needs a reminder, here are a few links to some useful websites (thanks Waiting for putting these together)

Must be difficult painty not knowing when you ov. Fingers crossed that you had enough swi around the right time if you did ov last Saturday.

My dd is feeding more than ever (if possible!) think her very last tooth is coming through. I'm not sure if Breastfeeding can have any affect now I've got a BFP.

Just trying to decide when to ring the doctor now as don't want ring to early.

Going to buy another digital today and hope it says more than 1-2 weeks.

mrsdiddlydoo · 18/03/2014 07:35

well I'm confused by total lack of symptoms. Had bad nausea from before af was due with ds, followed later by hg and 6 weeks Off work. Nipples and boobs are fine. Have occasional faint cramps, but that's it. Maybe my body feels better equipped to deal with it or the breastfeeding is helping. Trying not to poas for a darker line. Only have one left. Would rather save it for later in the week. Currently being used as a human tissue by ds! Nice! Grin

mrsdiddlydoo · 18/03/2014 07:41

June. . . Did you buy another test? Have you any symptoms?
Painty. . . It sounds like you probably swi around the right time. The 2ww can be horrible though. Hope you're managing to keep busy!
We've a lazy day planned today. Ds was up a bit in night. I'm tired. Managed to do most my chores yesterday so can play with Ds today. Nice long walk with dogs i think. Maybe some baking

I need your wisdom wise bfing mamas! DS is 19 months old and have had 2 cycles before TTC. AF is a day late (due yesterday), yet usually run like clockwork. I poas on Monday morning with an eBay cheapy and was -ve.

I am now stuck - do I go get a super expensive clear blue early response thingy and poas tomorrow morning or assume its my little milk monster making AF a bit shy?

Arrrggghhh - why is TTC so fraught and confusing?!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 19/03/2014 12:52

Sorry you're feeling low Painty. It is frustrating not to know exactly when ov happened, but it does sound like it was around the time you expected at least which should give you a reasonable chance and it's encouraging that your temps are still high! Either way I guess all you can do at this point is wait it out, which I know can be really tough and seem to drag on forever, and thrush doesn't help I'm sure. Have some Cake (best stay off the Wine) , vent on here as much as you want and I hope you feel better soon.
It WILL happen for you, maybe this month or soon after, but it is sometimes really hard to feel positive of that. I think ttc is just like that for everyone (except maybe those who always get pregnant straight away), it feels like a bfp is a million miles away until the moment you see that line and it becomes real. If we could know, oh I'll get pregnant within the next 6 months, that would be fine but every cycle I just feel like - if not this time, how long will I be waiting, is it ever going to happen?

Anyway, I might be in a similar position this month as I've had a bit of a cold/throat thing and although I don't have a fever, my temperatures have been up a bit the last few days (just around my usual post-ov level). My chart thinks I ovulated on cd 10 as a result, but so far since ds ovulation has always been cd24+ so it must be down to the lurgy. That will make it tricky to spot ovulation this cycle I expect so I'm just going for a swi at every opportunity approach instead!

Any more testing mrs or June? Hope you're both feeling well and enjoying the bfp glow!

Hi everyone-did buy another digital and it showed 2-3 weeksSmile

Also used up all my internet cheapie and BFP coming up in a couple of seconds (I've always found them really accurate orchid-mine detect 10ml hcg).

Still feeling nauseous, dizzy and got cramps on and off.

5 weeks today!

Will call doctor at 6 weeks..

Hoping for good news for everyone else and keep checking back in with this thread (as long as that's ok with everyone).

Ooooo what did big have to say...

OrchidFlakes · 20/03/2014 12:46

Hi painty I completely understand not testing until essential, I only wish I had that kind of patience/resolve!

I tested this morning as AF is now 2 days late and it's -ve so I'm assuming AF is AWOL, possibly due to milk monster toddler (upped his feeding as he had a viral ear infection) I just hate not knowing when we can try again. I was planning on being all chilled and relaxed in the vain and vague hope of influencing gender to a DD but I can see me going crazy next cycle (whenever that is) to feel like I gave it a fair shot rather than a half hearted attempt that last month was.

Feeling really low and snappy today. Cake for lunch I think...

OrchidFlakes · 20/03/2014 12:47

That's great news about the BFPs! Congratulations!

No sign of AF. I've been thinking that what I thought was AF back in January might not have been. I read most AFs post- birth are heavy but this wasn't. In the meantime trying to drop one BF and use formula instead but DS refuses bottle/cup anything!

Hello all!

May I dip my toes in? We had a very rough journey to pregnancy, and I am currently BFing my 8 month old. We would like to start ttcing as soon as possible but I haven't seen hide nor hair of a period yet Does anyone have any advice?

I did get on well with temp charting and obs to conceive this little one, but at the moment he is a total boob monster and feeds 2 hourly day and night. So I am not getting a block enough of sleep to take my temp regularly.

I admit, I haven't read the whole thread, and for that I am sorry.

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 21/03/2014 17:28

Oh no sorry painty! Confused Take care of yourself and have some nice comfort food/drink -lots of wine- It is good to know at least that your ov is reasonably regular/predictable but I'm really sorry this wasn't your month, I had high hopes for you.

Will post properly this evening, just didn't want to leave you without a response!

oh dear Painty. At least you probably ov when you thought you did. Pour yourself a large wine and have a huge piece of cake/stinky cheese/ chocolate/ Crisps and dip. . . whatever makes you feel good. Your efforts were outstanding this month. Huge hug.

weebairn · 21/03/2014 18:02

Hello all

painty sorry to hear you got your period!! I am delighted/horrified that my name is being used as synonymous for shagging a lot! Not so much of that these days… we still manage once or twice a week. I think of you often and have my fingers crossed.

Well I had my 12 week scan yesterday and all was well. It is wonderful. I should be much happier about this, but I am dazed with non-sleeping toddler and night shifts and all a mess of hormones. I'm sure once I've had a night's sleep it will all seem amazing. Hilariously my new due date is DD's 2nd birthday! joint birthday parties ahoy. At least she is too young to care that I'm likely to miss her birthday!

Breastfeeding is still going ok. We just do a morning feed now (and also sometimes a wailing tantrumming toddler calm-the-fuck-down feed).
