Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 6+months (preferably 12+) NO instadiffers, must have a special pot and def no mention of baby dust or baby dancing UGH !!! Ooooh aren’t we strict!

The 17th thread, wow! This had better be it ladies, time to get off the Sofa of Pity onto the Pouffe of Positivity and beyond!

Sorry to hear that Barking.
Welcome HB, are you in the US? Most people on here are teachers or healthcare professionals so sounds like you'll fit in Smile

HampshireBlues · 05/01/2014 21:14

Glad I'm in the right place!
Barking sorry about your bridesmaids.....
Ladybunnikins I work in the UK but glad to know I'm not the only HP here - I'd be interested to know how other HPs feel they are treated. It's my DH I feel sorry for I think he gets shortchanged in this whole process!

IamKuma · 05/01/2014 21:20

Thanks Lady I use humrep.oxfordjournals.org/ as my source of information and have found some useful info on DHEA. Norbert Gleicher / Center for Human Reproduction have patented some dosage regimes too which is a useful point of reference.

HB welcome :)

Barking so sorry to hear about all of your bridesmaid dilemmas, I'm sure this latest one is a really hard one to deal with. Sending you strength and support. Thanks

Back to work tomorrow, ugh Confused

IamKuma · 05/01/2014 21:28

lady which DHEA did you buy - I've seen Fertinatal advertised, but it has a fairly high pricetag, and am concerned about whether you will get the same product for 1/3 of the price on Amazon?

ladybunnikins · 05/01/2014 21:34

Looks like an interesting journal Kuma, might have to dig out the athens password I was given ages ago and never used and see if I can get access! I started on 25mg tds but since I have no nausea I'm taking 75mg in the morning to make it easier to remember.
HB that's really tough that the cut off is 35 in your area.

ladybunnikins · 05/01/2014 21:41

Kuma it looks like the one I bought is no longer available on amazon but it was called Natrol DHEA 25mg 300 tablets and I paid £21.49. Shipped from america and took 2-3 weeks.
It was this one:

Thanks for the sympathy ladies. I'll get over it. I am genuinely really happy for her, she totally deserves it. Just annoyed because I know she's had a rough time and I wish I'd been there for her (apparently there were three babies initially, she's had bleeding and weekly scans so lots of worry and bad morning sickness) but she was scared of telling me she was pg because she didn't want to upset me. I want to be able to support her but it's going to be really difficult when I just feel so fed up about my current situation. If I at least had a bloody cycle cruel pun there I might be able to believe the clomid would work for me again and we could be pg together. When I had the mc and she was struggling with bad abdominal pain on her first dose of clomid (which as we now know was her getting diffed) I actually said to her maybe it wasn't to be for me this time because we're supposed to be pg at the same time Sad .

Life sucks arse sometimes and tomorrow I have to go back to school and for the first time in ages (since working for a really nasty head a few years ago) I really don't want to go to work. Having major Sunday night last-day-of-the-holidays blues! Sitting here in tears isn't going to help, will take myself to bed.

HappyAmbler · 05/01/2014 22:36

So much has happened in the two days since I was last on here! Trying my best to keep up...

So pleased I've found two whole people who understand what I'm banging on about with my luteal phase woes!

Boodle - my second rant is is about how arrogant/ patronising/ fucking stupid it is that HCPs dismiss our concerns. Ok, I don't have a medical degree, but I am an expert in MY OWN BODY!!! grr Angry

Barking - I really feel for you with the situation with your friend Sad Anyway, you have inspired me to try acupuncture (I hope the herb shot wasn't too disgusting!) I'm usually a skeptic about these sorts of things, but if I get diffed I don't won't care whether or not it was the placebo effect!

HappyAmbler · 05/01/2014 22:38

Ack, posted too soon! Just wanted to say, I hope work is ok tomorrow and you feel a bit better.

winohhh · 06/01/2014 08:11

Oh barking, sorry about your bm. It's such a horrible situation. I hate feeling that I can't be completely happy for others because of my situation.

Ambler, I would also recommend acu. I'm totally a sceptic too, but equally, when my gp gives me no reason to hope, you have to get it from somewhere!

Just a quick q for those who temp. We stayed in a hotel last night, aircon on. I woke to take my temp and my arm was outside of thd duvet and freezing. Will this effect my temp? It was 97.63. Still above my cover line but a dip from what it's been. I did it again and it went up to 98.11, in line with the last couple of days. I'm 12dpo. Am I clutching at straws to hope this isn't af on her way??

Bunnygirlie · 06/01/2014 08:27

Aaaaagh it's Monday, first full week at work and first dildocam of the year!!!!

OP posts:
FeatherFeather11 · 06/01/2014 12:36

Welcome HB - you've come to the right place! Absolutely ridiculous that 35 is the cut off in your area. I hate the postcode lottery.

barking gosh! sorry to hear your latest news. You're really going through it and I know how difficult it must be.

ambler I'm another pro-acupunture Berrie. Hadn't had a period for around 6 weeks after my ectopic and went to see one just before Christmas who said she wanted to "bring on a bleed" - finished my appointment at 9am and got af at 5pm that very day. Could have been a total coincidence, but I doubt it because there was no warning before it arrived.

wino sorry, I'm useless with temps. Prof Merk may be able to shed some light though!

bunny hope all goes well with dildocam today!

Hello everyone else!

I had a total meltdown late last night for no reason in particular. It all got on top of me and I burst into tears and wailed into OH's shoulder. We'd had a lovely weekend which was finished off with a date at the cinema and we got home about 11.30pm and the cloud descended. Felt better immediately after letting it all out. I think the pregnant colleague thing was/is getting to me more than I care to acknowledge. I had to call in sick today as I woke up feeling so blue I couldn't face work. Not good.

In other news, I'm CD19 here and I'm spotting. Only when I wipe, but it's there. No idea what the hell that's about. Doubt I could be diffed as I've not had a positive opk except for a very faint line last week. Temps are all over the place too.

Hope everyone's first day back hasn't been too bad. I went back last Thursday and it was the longest two working days ever!

Oh, and the uncle that had the heart attack/stroke has woken from his coma. And sister in law is still in hospital - they want to keep the baby in for as long as possible so she has to stay there until it happens. All a bit stressy on the family front at the moment. Grrr.

FeatherFeather11 · 06/01/2014 12:55

Ps. wino - would it be worth poas-ing?

BlueBirdy · 06/01/2014 13:24

Welcome HB (yay, a fellow blue berry!) That really is unfair with your IVF funding - I mean it's bad enough that we need it, but when it is not fair and equal for everyone it really sucks!

Boo those are my fears exactly!!

Win I'm afraid I have no idea if/how that would affect BBT. I have noticed that if I have a disturbed sleep or if I temp much earlier than usual then I get a lower than expected reading, and if I have disturbed sleep within the hour before I am supposed to wake, when I do temp it is higher than expected. For me my high temps stay level until 15 DPO when it drops to around cover line and AF starts that same day. Having said that...

Advice please temping berries! I also have a temp question and google is not helping. I normally have high temps until day AF is due, when it crashes and AF duly arrives that day. I was expecting the crash and AF yesterday, but temps didn't drop as much as I'm used to and I only spotted lightly and same thing so far today. I doubt I'm pg (0-1% morph, only managed to DTD once this cycle, due to start ICSI soon as getting pg naturally ain't gonna happen) and don't have anymore IC left (and hate using them, they are only ever negative!) and even if I was, temps are supposed to get higher, not lower! so I don't want to possibly see a positive only for temps to keep dropping and having another chemical pregnancy. I'd rather just wait for AF to arrive. Sorry I know I'm being lame, I should just buy a boots test and get it over and done with and just wait patiently for AF, but I have a thing against buying a pg test in my home town (I know, I know - lame!). Anyway, was wondering if anyone else's temps gradually dropped before (a late) AF arrives?

BlueBirdy · 06/01/2014 13:41

Feather it took me so long for me to finish my post that I have only just seen yours. Hope you are feeling better Thanks. I used to spot from around CD20 until AF arrived (27/28 day cycle), except for last cycle when for the first time ever I didn't spot at all (I've put that down to starting pregnacare). And my current cycle I didn't have any early spotting at all but now I am late and spotting a bit and going a little crazy. If you did ovulate then there is always the possibility that it is the good all mind f**k that is implantation bleeding. Smile Hoping it's that and not old AF on her way!

winohhh · 06/01/2014 15:13

Bunny, hope the dildocam went ok.

Feather, sorry about your meltdown, well done for taking the day off, we really need to look after our mental health through this whole thing. And sorry about thd family stresses, although good news about your uncle.

Bluebirdy, sorry you're having temping issues too. It's a nightmare!! I find I can't go back to sleep after I've temped because my head is spinning with all the different possibilities. Sorry I can't help with your question, I'm a temping newby, this is only my first cycle.

Waves to everyone else!! Today is going SLOWLY!!

FeatherFeather11 · 06/01/2014 15:42

Thanks blue and wino feeling much better now. Think I'll head to the gym this evening to blow the cobwebs away a bit. Btw, I'm new to temping and convinced I'm either doing it wrong or there is something up with my thermometer - just waiting on a new one to arrive at the mo!

Hope everyone else's day is going well.

happylass · 06/01/2014 16:42

Arrrrrgh! Just typed a really long post out then my battery went and I lost it all!
So to summarise:
-hello to newbies
-boo to inconsiderate bridesmaids
-Birdy my temp only drops slightly before AF, crashes on cd3

  • I've had a shitty (and v cold) first day back in work.

Hi to everyone else. Hope the first Monday of 2014 hasn't been too painful for you!

Saznut · 06/01/2014 18:14

here you are!! my phone app lost thr thread. will write a better message in a min, just sneaking a quick hello before I do the dinner then I will be able to write from my pad and see the other posts. Blue, my sil has a friend who couldn't find a job last year so has gotten up duffed as hubby won't make her work if preggers, so pop, here comes number 4. arggggg!!!!

barkingtreefrog · 06/01/2014 18:43

blue my temps stay high until cd3ish then crash down well they did when I used to have cycles.

wino that could make a difference, if you're in a hotel it'll be a different room temperature than your bedroom anyway. If it didn't drop below cover line I wouldn't count it as significant. I temp in C so the numbers don't mean anything to me, sorry!

feather hope you're feeling better Thanks .

My day at work was ok. PPA time taken over with problem child again, took two of us to restrain her while she tried to kick and bite me. But on the plus side the head has let me have a day off to go with DP to his granny's funeral.

tigerdog · 06/01/2014 18:57

Hi everyone, hope you've all managed to survive Monday!

Win, I would second everything the others have said about your GP and push for a referral. I’d recommend reading the NICE guidance on fertility if you haven’t already as it is helpful to see the guidelines for referrals/testing/IVF etc that your GP should be following. Lady posted a link earlier on the thread.

Ambler I am another fan of acupuncture. I have been going for about 3 months, and I feel much better in myself, although obviously not pg – yet! A good friend of mine credits electro-acupuncture with getting her pg after several months ttc and discovering she wasn’t ovulating every month and has PCOS. She said something just literally ‘popped’ and the very next cycle she got pregnant.

Reflexology is something I have also considered. I have a colleague who has been ttc for over a year and has what seems to be a short luteal phase with a week of spotting before her period. The therapist immediately diagnosed her as likely to have low progesterone from all of the symptoms she had. Four sessions of reflexology and the next cycle she had no spotting at all and a 14 day luteal phase.

Are these things coincidence? I don’t know…..but on the face of it they are getting the right results....

barking I’m sorry to hear about your bridesmaids being rubbish or pg.

feather sorry to hear you are feeling so sad and have so much going on.

Hullo to everyone else!

First NHS FC appointment next week - any ideas what to expect berries? They haven't provided any information at all....

barkingtreefrog · 06/01/2014 19:03

tiger if it's anything like my first appointment it will just be a nurse asking you questions and booking you in for any further tests not done by your gp, in my case an hsg and the dildocam. When all that's done you see the consultant next time round. Of course nothing is consistent with fertility and the nhs so your experience could be totally diffferent!

happylass · 06/01/2014 20:03

Tiger my 1st FC appt was also just a nurse asking questions although she did nothing other than pass me on to the consultant (3 bloody months later) who then ordered bloods for AMH plus a HSG which I'm hopefully getting done in a few weeks time. As Barking said though everywhere is vastly differently. For example Bunny had her first appt the same week as me and she's half way through IVF whilst I haven't even made it on to the 18 month waiting list yet!

BoodleDoo · 06/01/2014 20:29

Tiger, my experience at the first FC appointment was pretty much identical to Barking's though, as she said, the whole system is so wretchedly inconsistent! I have a friend who has started initial investigations and her suggested course of action is completely different to what I had.

Now, someone kick me up the bum / wang me with a sausage, please. I have one lesson planned for tomorrow yet I am sat watching trash TV and mumsnetting!
