This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Hi everyone, I've continued lurking but have also booked our appt for end of April! Excited and scared. Can you tell me if we still start by taking Vit D etc? Can't remember exactly what I took, and can't find my paperwork.

Anyone seen the article in the daily mail online today? A lady talking about intraplids after having a little girl.

Waves to all x

VillageMum · 20/03/2014 18:10

Hi hopeful, the pre-conception advice is:

  • aspirin 75mg once a day by mouth (6-9pm) and continue without stopping while trying
  • pregnancy multivitamins such as Pregnacare or Sanatogen or any other brand PLUS Omega 3
  • Vitamin D3 2000 IU (equivalent to 50mcg of D3) once a day.

Best of luck!! It's normal to be scared I think!

mattsmama · 20/03/2014 18:23

Hi everyone just popping in for a quick check! Can't seem to get pages from the thread I have missed for some reason? Hi Hopeful! Thanks for info re Daily Mail - will have a look at that. Hope everyone is ok x

As for me - AF due Sunday and the 2ww is driving me NUTS!! Done frer this am - BFN so trying not to get too hopeful even though still early :/ (Frer are BOGOF) at Boots at the moment. Feel pregnant - but think that is very possibly over wishful thinking combined with PMT at its best x

duggs1976 · 21/03/2014 09:05

Hello just popping on as currently at NL hooked up to intrallipids! Good scan this am with dr S strong heartbeat 167bpm baby measuring bang on for dates 8+5 wks. V pleased! GrinGrin Hope everyone doing ok.

Arianrhod · 21/03/2014 09:15

duggs Said it on the other thread but so very very pleased for your marvellous news! Grin

Hopefulfor3rd · 21/03/2014 10:27

Thanks village, will get some to get a head start.
Fab news Duggs!

I don't know how much my NK cells could've gone up by. I'm hoping not into the intraplids band as it feels like an unknown world! Duggs, maybe you could give me some info on it? How regular? Cost if you don't mind? My main fear is that if I do need them we won't be to afford them, it's going to tough to go for first two appts as it is. I don't think we will be able to afford the money or time away from work or organise our children with others to get intraplids.
Time will tell I guess.
Waves x

mattsmama · 21/03/2014 11:06

DUGGS. - fab news. That's brilliant x

bakingtins · 21/03/2014 13:46

Brilliant news duggs congratulations!

freelancegirl · 21/03/2014 14:51

Soooooooo excited for Duggs!! Woo hoo!

MrsPixieMoo · 21/03/2014 17:25

Well done Duggs. That's great news.

Am worrying a lot about 20 week scan on Monday. No real reason to, just seem to go from stress to stress. Have been feeling very sick and tired again for the past couple of weeks.

freelancegirl · 21/03/2014 21:41

Wow Mrs P, 20 weeks already!
Other people's pregnancies seem to fly by.

Hopeful the intralipids are often prescribed one a month from bfp for the first trimester (so 3 in total although some have more - I had an extra one with DS) and last time I had them cost around £350 at New Life. It's often not easy getting the money together but so much cheaper than something like Ivig and well worth cobbling the money together IMO - that's if you even need them.

freelancegirl · 21/03/2014 21:43

Oh and usually it takes around 2-3 hours on the drip, quite relaxing really although feels a bit weird to be having a drip if you haven't had one before and you're not in hospital.

duggs1976 · 22/03/2014 06:00

If it helps dr nudwuke is cheaper via zita west at £150 and he often prescribes them every 3 mths for people TTC. Then as free said monthly once pregnant until 16 wks . Is egg and soy based solution doesn't hurt just expensive!

bakingtins · 22/03/2014 07:32

Good luck for Monday MrsP I had major scan doom again before 20 wk scan but it was all fine. It's just quite hard to accept it is all actually going ok. Will you be finding out if you are team blue or pink?

healthyhippo · 22/03/2014 08:09

Hello
Just wondering if anyone on here is from NE Scotland and if and how you can get NK testing done up here?
Thank you

Iggi101 · 22/03/2014 12:06

Hi Healthy, not from the NE but in Scotland - I had to travel to London for the testing, required two visits (one for tests, one for results) and then - let me think - two more for scans when I became pregnant, which fortunately happened quickly for me. The distance put me off massively at first, but actually it wasn't too bad - I went on the East Coast trains, there and back the same day, and not too dear if you book in advance. They go right up to Aberdeen, I believe. Don't know if still the case but there used to be clinics on a Saturday if work is an issue.

duggs1976 · 22/03/2014 13:20

Quick Q... Dr S told me to get an eye test, liver function test and 2 other blood tests (usually done by GP) because I've been on hydroxychloride for a while. Can you remember the other 2 tests as he wrote theie abbreviations on a post it note note but I've lost it?

freelancegirl · 22/03/2014 13:34

Urea and something that goes hand in hand with that. I still haven't had mine done as have lost the request form from my GP but need to get them done too. And also what they call a 'full blood count'.

bakingtins · 22/03/2014 13:37

Guessing here, but you'd normally measure urea and creatinine together (kidney function) was that it?

freelancegirl · 22/03/2014 13:49

I can't find my full notes but I know in shorthand the urea one was 'U and E's' and remember it being urea and something very similar - erea..?

Do we get an honorary medical degree as well as a baby? :)

First day of Pred again on a new cycle for me and am bloody starving already! Mind you, I've been hungry for weeks.

MrsPixieMoo · 22/03/2014 15:04

Thanks Baking, yes major blues today but good to know that it happens to others.

U and Es is urea and electrolytes. Hope that helps Duggs?

duggs1976 · 22/03/2014 16:38

Crickey .. We are such medics on here. That sounds pretty similar.... I might email Louise just to make sure and will update thanks ladies Grin

mattsmama · 22/03/2014 19:11

Hi ladies - not my month. AF arrived today and I am thoroughly pissed off. Just feel so down : (

With regard to the U' s and E's I might be wrong but I am sure it's urea and electrolytes?

Short post ladies - off to drown sorrows in a glass of red. Onwards and upwards again eh - but it's so hard sometimes! X

Breezyweezy · 23/03/2014 07:54

Hi ladies, just a very quick post from me to say our gorgeous little lady, Rosa Mae Tustin, arrived safe and sound early Thursday afternoon at 39 weeks 2 days via a rather swift labour.

After 5 and a half years of ttc, including 3 mc and 2 years of unexplained infertility, we really do feel blessed to have her finally here with us. I truly believe she is here with thanks to the amazing knowledge of you ladies on here with regard to NKCs, otherwise we would have accepted St Mary's "your mc are just one of those unfortunate things" and either gone on to have more mc or given up on our dream of ever being parents.

I didn't take any prednisolone with this pg, but 3 doses of Ivig, so for those of you trying with this particular treatment, I have faith that without it my little lady would not be here.

I truly don't know where, and how, we all find the strength and resilience to keep going through the monthly disappointment and mc heartbreak again and again, but we just do.

Best of luck to all of you ttc and I sincerely hope you are blessed with your little miracles one day too.
