This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Village you are right! That is my intention! I said to DH that it's quite sad we can't enjoy it like everyone else at the beginning and I agree with what he said that's our life Nd we have to get on with it!
Good luck with the scan on Monday!

MrsP
My IVIG prescription I hope has been sent to the clinic bug they are closed till Thursday. Bug I'm hoping they will fit me in before next week!
It's crazy that I know I'm pregnant and I'm not even 4 weeks yet!
What dosage of pred are you taking? Luckily I'm just on 25 this time . 40 last time really mucked me up so I do empathise!

Xx

You probably all get your high-dose folic acid on prescription, but if anyone doesn't I have 3 unopended bottles I could post to you - they are 400 ug (can't do the symbol right) and there are 250 tablets in a bottle. Expiry of one is end of this April but others are end July. Don't know why I bought so much!

MrsPixieMoo · 01/01/2014 14:11

Ooh I'd love the folic acid please.

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 01/01/2014 14:18

Just pm me your address and I'll pop it into the post. (Not for a few days though as two day bank holiday up here!)

mattsmama · 02/01/2014 00:43

Hello ladies. - can I join you please? AF arrived today after first cycle of TTC no 3 - gutted.

I am under Dr S and on the usual, pred, hydroxychlorquine, omega, aspirin, folic acid etc. I conceived DS 2 under Dr S and was extremely fortunate to conceive first time round then at age 42. Now aged 44 and ttc no 3 and now know it would have super miraculous to hit the jackpot first time around again! Still gutted and all the doubt is creeping in now about age etc. cycles are always so regular too but AF came 4 days early which is very unusual for me and I really truly felt pregnant up to around Monday evening when boobs stopped being so sore. MindnyounI was over obsessing and symptom spotting so maybe I was just trying to convince myself.

It would be just so nice to share this journey with you all being I the same boat if that's ok? sorry for a me me me lost - just so pissed off x

mattsmama · 02/01/2014 00:46

Bloody awful spelling and grammar too in my last post - apologies Blush

Smee3 · 02/01/2014 01:05

Hi ladies, I'd love to join this thread, I found it 5 days ago and have read non stop since. Firstly I'd like to say what a god send it has been to find a group of ladies that are going through something similar - you are all so informed, have so much knowledge, so strong, funny and inspiring. I've read all the threads and cried over your losses and laughed at your dark humour. As for me I'm 30, married 6 years to dh and been ttc for 16 months, 1 mc at 5 weeks, 1 mmc died at 8 weeks discovered at 12 week scan, Erpc and test revealed trisomy. and now I think my 3rd miscarriage under dr s. I had slightly raised nkc activity with normal numbers. 25mg pred, vit d, aspirin, progesterone. This was month 3 of trying with steroids etc. had 6 week scan with dr s on the 20th dec and intralipids, they just saw sac. Then in 29th we had a scan in the US whilst on holiday, sac and yolk sac but no fetus or hb. They wouldn't confirm miscarriage but its got to be right? If no change apart from yolk sac in 9 days? What do you ladies think? By lmp I should have been 7+3 only took pred & progesterone from bfp at 5 weeks as we were having a break from the stress that month as didn't want to risk mc in the middle of Xmas hols... Sod's law! I'm tapering pred (bloody hate it) & stopped cyclogest. Any if you mc naturally and managed to have test on tissue? As no fetus would the sac provide any answers? Thanks for reading & hope I will be able to support you other ladies on here. Just reading your stories has been such a support & i feel like I've gained a degree in knowledge on this area. X smee

freelancegirl · 02/01/2014 12:04

Newbies! Hurrah! I'd love to respond but about to take off on a plane xx

teamdozie · 02/01/2014 12:10

Happy new year everyone!

matt & smee welcome to the thread!
matt it's horrible when AF arrives when you so believe that it's your month! Good luck for this month! Have you maybe thought of SO?

Smee I'm sorry to hear about your mc what a horrible trine for it to happen! With my last mc Dr a gave me a little pot to catch anything in case I MC naturally. I managed to have an erpc. But maybe speak to them and ask if they can give you something and maybe you can have it tested?

X

Welcome mattsmama, I'll hold your hand in the ttc cycles if it helps! I'm also 44, and also ttc no 3, the first ever on steroids. I have a DS age 12 and a DD age 2, and have had four mmcs. I was diagnosed with high NK cells by Mr S and signed up to his protocol at the end of October. Have just had my first ttc cycle on his superovulation programme and was also disappointed not to get pregnant straight off as I've always conceived easily (without meds) before. Don't get disheartened, it's early days yet! Superovulation is well worth considering, produces two or more eggs (sorry if you already know this!). Best of luck with this coming cycle and banish the doubt, if you conceived easily at 42 that's a good omen!

Hello and welcome smee. So sorry to read what you've been going through. I hope you get some answers soon. Are you going for another scan once back in the UK? Sending you lots of strength.

Smee3 · 02/01/2014 14:06

Hi dozie, village, Matt and free. Thanks for your replies. I've got a scan on the 8 th with dr s. was thinking of emailing the doctors lab to see if they could send me a suitable container and liquid to preserve it in... FYI my last dr (mr Anim) at Kingston hospital charged 2 x as much for the testing the the doctors lab- I know as they both sent me an invoice for the same thing. I just don't know if would be a waste of more money to test it as not sure what results you can get from just a sac. Hope you all have a good day. Free you flying anywhere nice? Xx smee

bakingtins · 02/01/2014 16:20

Happy New Year everyone - just catching up as we've been traipsing around the UK visiting family for the last few days.
Welcome mattsmum and smee

smee I had material from my 4th natural MC tested (caught it in a sieve) Blush and just put it in a plain pot, no preservative. It was an 8 week embryo, but I know someone on another thread who had information from testing of placental tissue so it would be worth trying to catch sac/yolk and asking them if it can be tested.

LunaGL · 03/01/2014 13:16

Hi Everyone finally found you guys again. Have been away with no internet access (literally in a barn in the middle of Northumberland) which was great and a mixed blessing.

Welcome to the thread Matt & Smee am sure that you will find it as useful as all of us have for information but more importantly for moral support.

MrsPixie hope that you're feeling better and that all the vomiting and nausea has eased
Village good to hear you're back to peak health and good luck with the next round of SO
Team quiet congratulations on the fab BFP - just in time for new year. I completely understand about protecting yourself - you must do whatever it takes to make this period as mentally easy on yourself and your DP as possible
Brown how are you? Any chance you could have a scan/blood test rather than relying on the test sticks? Peace of mind one way or the other to keep you sane?

I wanted to say thanks Thanks for all the amazing messages I got from people both on the thread and via PM. I kind of decided to hide from the world (hence the trip away) as when we had our scan on Christmas Eve, we found out that I was still pregnant and actually saw our baby and heard a heart beat for the first time EVER. In all my pregnancies we have never seen or heard anything - it was very emotional as you can imagine. The consultant thought that the terrible pain I had experienced which resulted in A&E was down to an extremely enlarged right ovary which had three follicles on it (might be a result of the SO??).
Anyway we were beyond shocked and amazed and petrified. I then got a chest infection and ended up coughing a lot which hurt my stomach and led to a number of bleeds so the last two weeks have not exactly been relaxing. I have a scan with Mr S and intralipids booked at New Life for Tues but have booked in for another private scan tomorrow as am bleeding again. I'm not in any pain although there have been a number of stringy things on the toilet paper when I wipe (apologies if TMI). All in all am feeling rather on edge, frightened and have no idea what is happening once again and have the worst wind EVER in the world Blush. Am seriously gassing myself and my DH but this is the only pregnancy type symptom I have together with my very inflated stomach. So now am waiting for tomorrow to see if there is anything still hanging on in there and trying not to eat myself into depression out of worry Cake

Apologies for long silence and long post - all off my chest now xxx

teamdozie · 03/01/2014 16:29

Smee how is everything?

Baking how are you? It. Any be long before your 20week scan now! Will you find out what you are having?

Luna thank you! It's good to hear all is well but sorry to hear about the bleeding! It's always a worry! But you heard a heartbeat! And that is so reassuring! I hope your scan goes well tomorrow! I'm sure everything is fine! Ps I'm joining you on the bloated part! Lol! But all for a good cause!

I had my first IVIG today! All done is 4.5 hours! So here's hoping! First scan planned for 7 weeks! So I have to not think about it till then!

Xx

LunaGL · 03/01/2014 17:44

Great news Team re IVIG although I can't believe it takes 4.5 hours!! I feel lazy with intralipids in 2 hours Smile.

I'm still taking the CO-Q10 and L'Arginine that so many recommended but am not sure when I'm supposed to stop. Any advice on what to do would be appreciated

Hope you all have lovely weekends xxx

mattsmama · 03/01/2014 17:55

Thanks ladies - feel better already by being on here and your messages. having somehwere to let off steam and have a bit of moral support makes a world of difference x. Village - lets hope we get those BFP's soon!! Think I will have another go then maybe think about SO.

Luna - how lovely to hear that little heartbeat. Very understandable how nervous you are - all the luck in the world for your scan x

VillageMum · 03/01/2014 18:50

Luna so good to hear from you, have sent you a PM and am thinking of you for tomorrow!! The advice on L Arginine and COQ10 is usually to stop both on a BFP, although neither is known to be harmful in pregnancy, so do NOT stress (and in fact L Arg is sometimes prescribed for pre-eclampsia in later pregnancy). Maybe Brown or Ari can advise?

bakingtins · 03/01/2014 19:22

I'm good thanks. I started to feel movements whilst we were away over New Year which is reassuring, though I am starting to store up scan doom for 20 week scan which is on the 17th.

Luna everything crossed for more good news for you tomorrow.

willitbe · 03/01/2014 19:50

Hi all, it has been a long time since I was on the pred threads, but need to ask a question if you don't mind.

Progesterone - for's and against's.
I am not sure whether to take it or not.

Taking pred by default due to horrible sinus infection. Now have to decide whether to take the progesterone. All it seems to have done for me before is prolong time til miscarriage.

All information gratefully received.

bakingtins · 03/01/2014 20:15

I took progesterone from CD21 this time, previously had taken it from BFP. Prof Q reckons it maintains a good lining for implantation. Protocol is to take it days 21-28 then test, stop if BFN, continue until 12 weeks if BFP.
It stopped me spotting, I've had bleeds in every pregnancy I've had previously (2 successful and 4 not) and nothing in this one.
I think it would slightly delay a MC though I did MC while still taking it last time. If you are going to be scanned regularly that's not such a problem, you could stop it if it became clear the pregnancy was not progressing.
It's messy, but other than that no problems practically with it.

MrsPixieMoo · 04/01/2014 07:44

A me me me post. I'm away for a few days with DH and panicking. This morning my DD woke up with what looks like chicken pox. We are taking her to a dr this morning but I'm so scared for the pregnancy. I'm eight weeks on Monday. Feel sick and just need a hand to hold. It has all been going so well, I just can't bear to lose another one. Will respond properly to everyone's news later today and am sorry for a selfish post but am so so scared this morning.

LunaGL · 04/01/2014 08:16

Oh MrsPixie so not what you need. Deep deep breath first of all. Not having kids I'm prob not the best person to advise. Might be worth seeking some advice though - dare I say Google? Keep us all posted and hope your DD is ok. Big hugs xx

bakingtins · 04/01/2014 08:29

Did you have CP as a child, Mrs P? If you're immune it's not a problem. If you are not sure the doctor can test your blood and if you have been exposed there are is antiserum you can be treated with. I know it is just not what you need at the moment though Sad Hope you get some reassurance soon.

MrsPixieMoo · 04/01/2014 09:04

Thank you ladies. Yes I did have CP as a child. I was 7 and on holiday with my grandma so remember it well. I was freaking out because it mentions CP on the steroid card and everything I googled said 'it's not a problem for little ones but results in spontaneous abortion in the first trimester'. Very hard not to stress but I really appreciate your wise words. Thank you. Will be back after our trip to A&E.
