Part 2 this way!

We had 6 BFPs in just over a month on the first thread, so here's hoping the luck continues.

Monster - cool, we can wait out the 2 weeks together!

Re - parents in law, mine are pretty weird as well. Have managed to avoid Christmas with them since 2007 but had to give in this year and we are visiting themShock So a fun filled Christmas for us with both sets of parentsBlush Still, this means Christmas in Cape Town which can't be all that bad...I hope.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 03/12/2013 06:52

They're all familiar hungry but they're relatively normal for me. I did think I had a metallic taste yesterday (first symptom in both previous pregnancies) but was probably kidding myself.

windy - fil sounds awful but could you have sone fun with him over the nedt few months? We could think up some gorgeous names for that baby of yours
Cape Town swede?! Jealous!

mrsm22 · 03/12/2013 08:09

Morning everyone!
So much to catch up on. Hungry - I'm stroll thrilled for you. How old do you think your Dd will be when new baby arrived? Glad I'm not the only one feeling the tiredness! Xx
Lucy - don't you worry, I am passing on the good vibes for more BFP's for everyone! My 12 week scan is today at 2pm and I'm already excited but nervous! At the private scan they said I an 12 weeks and one day today and due date 16th June so will see what they say today. I hope everything is ok still! It's not til the 20 week scan that you find out the sex Lucy but we definitely will! I'm with Metalhead, I wouldn't be able to wait and not find out. I would love another boy, two little boys would be great but I don't mind as long as healthy. One of each is nice too. Does anyone have any ideas what I may be having?
My DH is still not completely better but getting there, we are both looking forward to this afternoon. Not taking our DS though, it says on our hospital letter that no children are allowed with but also he would be trying to unplug the equipment and he's still too young to understand it all so he's going to my mum and dad where he loves going.
Donna - Fab news re your 12 week scan! Our babies all be due around the same time! X
Metal - don't you worry, these BFP's are contagious.
H Swede - is healthcare in South Africa all private?
My DS is extremely close to my mum and dad and sees so much of them. I'm not a fan of my mother in law really, she's not a bad woman but I find her difficult to talk to or make much conversation with sometimes as she's quite an older woman in herself and her interests (church and other things that don't interest me) make it difficult. She's also quite a cold woman and not very warm or friendly. She makes very little effort with my DS, we don't see much if her and if she comes round she sits in a chair rather than playing with or getting involved with my DS. My father in law is better and more friendly but I choose not to see too much of them because of her. Obviously we do see them as you can't not, but it's every few weeks for a short visit whereas we see my mum and dad a lot more and we are much closer. Unfortunately we are spending Boxing Day with my parents in law but we spend Xmas day with my mum and dad every year. My DH was adopted ( I don't think they could have kids but don't know for sure or which one) and he is nothing like either if them. They popped round on Sunday and she never commented on my lovely baby bump or said much about my scan, always seems very disinterested. Oh well...
Right ladies, going to have breakfast and her in the bath with my DS but will try pop on her again before scan and update you all later. Love to you all and Hungry hope you're feeling good xx

mrsm22 · 03/12/2013 08:11

Also not booked the flu jab yet. I ever had it last time but not sure what to do this time. Also I think I sent a text to everyone after my 12 week scan last time to tell mine and DH 's good news. I'm thinking of doing the same but am not sure if you should wait for your blood test results and downsyndrome screening. Donna did you have that?

HungryHorace · 03/12/2013 08:45

ATruth, I've not once had the metallic taste in my mouth! Isn't it funny how we can't even have consistent early pregnancy symptoms?! Oh, I'm quite farty too. Lucky DH!

You know, I'm actually thinking that my IC tests are shit. One of them still barely has a line today. And as I may have done two, the other one is a tiny bit darker but no great shakes! Considering they're allegedly more sensitive than both the FRER and the digi I'm not convinced by them!

Mrs, DD will be just 13 months if I have an ELCS at the end July / beginning August. After DD's traumatic arrival and short stint in SCBU, which denied me skin to skin, I'd rather go for a calmer, planned option.

I think I'm 3+5 today if I go by guessing I OV'd / conceived the day after my smiley. Soooooo long to go!

Good luck later, Mrs. :-) I hope DC are allowed in at our scan as we will have to tell someone about baby if DD needs looking after.

My mum has anxiety issues which means we don't reveal til 12 weeks to either family. Though if I get bad ms we will tell his mum so she can help me!

mrsm22 · 03/12/2013 10:21

Hi Hungry - it will go quicker than you think. When I look back to when I saw my gp and must have only been 6 or 7 weeks, it has flown by and I'm already having my 12 week scan! You'll have a lovely close gap between your DD and your new baby but also not too close, they'll play together. My DS will be 2 on 28th dec so if new baby arrives in June he will be just under 2 and a half which I think is still a nice gap. Can't wait to go for my scan, it's just that I struggle to hold the full bladder! My DH suffers with anxiety.

mrsm22 · 03/12/2013 10:24

I had a scary forceps delivery with DS and massively regret having an epidural so opting for home birth this time, can't remember if I already said. I hate hospitals and want to be more relaxed.

Monstersaurus · 03/12/2013 10:32

Hope your scan goes well today Mrs. Hope your DH is feeling better soon.

Hungry, it must be difficult to keep the news to yourself for so long.Fingers crossed that you can take your DD with you for the scan.

I've been at work all night, and have definitely entered the realms of symptom spotting. I've had myself convinced I must be pregnant and then swung to deciding that I can't possibly be. Xmas Hmm

BetterNotBitter · 03/12/2013 11:04

Good luck for your scan mrs.

Wow a home birth, we contemplated it, my husband was always against but then I watched a few home birth diaries and I was put off. We're lucky to have got into the birth centre though a pool is pretty much guaranteed. If it wasn't I'd think again about a home birth to ensure a pool!!

Re: telling people, we don't want my husbands parents to find out until ideally baby is here and the first few weeks are done so well be choosing who we tell carefully. We're fortunate that we aren't involved with any of his extended families and our social circles don't overlap at all. I think well go for some birth announcement cards in the post or handed to be people to tell them the news. I was thinking about waiting till around 16 weeks but don't think I'll be able to his it that long. My parents & best friend already know.

Of those who have had their bfps, Who is taking pregnancy vitamins? And which kind do you take? Also did anyone use a pregnancy pillow in their first pregnancies? What point did you start to use it? I didn't, but found getting comfortable and accidentally rolling onto my back a nightmare so I'm thinking of investing in one this time?

HungryHorace · 03/12/2013 14:30

I wouldn't have a home birth as I'm too far from the hospital.

The speed they needed to get DD out of me last time convinces me that's the right approach for me. I admire anyone who does do it though. :-)

I'm taking folic acid, vits c and d and zinc, Better. 3 tablets. I rattle!

I'm quite achey / crampy today. Why can't I remember early pregnancy? It was only a year or so ago! Worry, worry, worry. :-/

CallingAllEngels · 03/12/2013 17:29

BFN! HOORAY! It's about bloody time...only took 7 weeks!

HungryHorace · 03/12/2013 17:45

That's fantastic news, Engels. Get DTD!! :-)

Kt1991 · 03/12/2013 18:49

How did you scan go mrs? I feel sad writing this but AF got me today :( do now into 5th cycle. Really wanted a summer baby as so expensive otherwise with DS at beginning of Feb, but it's now gonna be Sept onwards. Going to try and carry on as normal this month and enjoy Xmas, And possibly my bday mid Jan if things don't happen next month, then book into see my doctor.Sorry to put a downer on this thread after lots of happy news!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 03/12/2013 18:58

You're allowed to be down kt - I'll probably join you in being miserable soon. Still, we can drink over Christmas Grin

HungryHorace · 03/12/2013 19:20

I'm sorry, Kt. :-( I feel like I jumped the queue ahead of people who've been trying longer.

As ATruth said, you can have drinks, pate and soft cheeses at Christmas.

((Hugs))

Mrs There is public health care but the state of it is terrible and most people who do not have to use it do not use it. My employer (and most employers here) requires that we have Medical Aid (insurance) in place, so I pay around R3000 per month (about 170 pounds) for this. I did not appreciate the NHS when I had it, now I miss it very much.

So I am now 5dpo but dont feel any different. I guess it would be way too early to have any symptoms but I am desperately trying to find some. Apart from having to go to the toilet more often (but that is probably from drinking too much coffee at work) I feel no different. Cant remember at all how it was last time...For all you who have now had your BFP, when did you feel anything at all??

donnas1984 · 04/12/2013 06:59

Suede now ive been scanned I got my very faint bfp at 4 weeks 2 days I knew I was either preg or af was imminent. I had this rage like I could have torn shreads off someone with my vile potty mouth! I also had cold like symptoms which I had with dd. Hope you get a bfp this month would be a lovely Christmas present Smile

Someone had asked about pre natal vitamins sorry I can't remember who! I'm taking sanatogen mum to be vitamin 3 bottles for £10 in Asda x

HungryHorace · 04/12/2013 08:03

Ah yes, the rage. I have that!

Cold symptoms from about 6 DPO, so I assume implantation.

Cramping from 2 DPO.

Night sweats / weird dreams from around 5 DPO. And weeing more about the same.

Swede, I've been told something quite odd about giving birth in South Africa which I was wary of believing. In that all births are induced to try to regulate the times babies are born. Surely not?!

How is everyone today? My morning sickness has started. I'm not even 4 weeks' pregnant yet. Oh god...this bean is going to be trouble!

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 04/12/2013 08:08

Better, I used a Dream Genii last time. It was useful but took up a lot of bed. We called it the Labrador!

I think I started at about 16 weeks as I got big quickly. No more than 20, anyway. I'll dig it out again at some point.

OP posts:
SwedeAway · 04/12/2013 08:18

Hungry - So I have none of your symptoms at all Sad. I do remember from last time that it was not until after I realised I had missed my AF that my cramps started. Ah well, we'll see what happens I guess.

No, I have never heard about babies being induced to regulate the time they are born. What is true however is that about 70% of births here are by c-section (private health care so people can chose). I had one but that was because DD was in breech from week 16 and she would not turn around. If I get the chance of another kid I would like to try natural but its very unlikely that they will allow it when you have already had a c-section.

SwedeAway · 04/12/2013 08:33

Donnas - Yes a Christmas BFP would certainly be the best present ever!

HungryHorace · 04/12/2013 08:44

Ah, maybe she meant c section then.

I'm scared of VBAC, especially as it's so soon after my EMCS. I'm 90% sure I'll have an ELCS this time. Apparently I'll see the consultant at some point to discuss.

Swede, not everyone has symptoms, so you could still be pregnant. You're certainly not out yet! Good luck. :-)

Toothpastekissesno2 · 04/12/2013 09:58

Hi all. Mrs how was scan?
Swede I didn't have many symptoms at all until after the bfp. And the month I had the most symptoms (crazy nausea and tiredness) I wasn't pg. god knows what that is! The dreams is prob first sign for me but I also think u can have those when stressing. My dreams continue to exhaust me. The night before last I dreamt I was bleeding and last night that someone had kidnapped my baby. Anxiety!!
I tested day exactly 14 days after my positive opk.
My sister was here last night talking about her scan in two weeks. Very strange not telling her mine is day after. Her dr was so horrible and said 'oh god twins. U may bleed and lose one which might be a good thing!' I want to go and punch the woman! I def have moodiness! My dh tactfully described it as being a bit short tempered last night. Any others being grumpy with their other half??

HungryHorace · 04/12/2013 10:45

I'm being a prize bitch, Toothpaste. :-/

My dreams are bonkers. Not had any anxiety dreams yet but I had some classics last time so no doubt I will again!

OP posts:
Monstersaurus · 04/12/2013 11:05

Sorry to hear about the arrival of AF Kt . Enjoy the wine and soft cheeses.

Swede the symptom spotting is less than fun. Fingers crossed that the next two weeks fly by.

Better I also had a dream genii last time. Like Hungry says it does take up a lot of room, but made life much more comfortable. DH did think it was an improvement on the many pillows I was using before that though...

Engels pleased for you and your BFN. Hope you get your BFP soon.

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Nothing new with me, I'm furiously symptom spotting but to no avail.
