Planning ahead for Christmas! December bus starting far too early...

Hi All,

Anyone else around for the Dec bus yet? I think AF has managed to kick me off Nov already as she has arrived a few days early, and my cycle will probably mean she is next due at the beginning of Dec rather than Nov.

So does anyone else want to climb on board and help me hang tinsel and drink mulled wine to while away the time until that bfp in Dec?

I know what you're saying Beige. I was ready to start ttc#1 way before DP was so it gave me a lot of time to research, plan and think about it. I have to thank our lucky stars that we got a BFP on cycle 1 (straight after a MC which we also conceived on cycle 1). I was very knowledgeable by the time we started so it wasn't just a case of dtd and hope for the best- I knew what I was looking out for and when to get the best results. And I'll be the same again with #2. I can't help it! AF came yesterday so I'll wait for her to disappear for....eerrrr.....9 months and have another baby of course! I hope it's as simple as that.
I've been tracking my cycles for the past 6 months and they've all been 27-32 days long. Pre-DD they were 28-29 days exactly so I hope that's still ok. Been taking folic acid for ages now so hope it's all stored up in my system. Lordie, I am obsessed!

It's really helpful to talk about things on here. I'm ready now and DH wants to wait until December to ttc so that he's got nearly a year to save before a baby comes along. I've tried to tell him that it's unlikely to be that simple but I've stopped trying to bring him forward and am instead obsessing the days away until December. I am so getting an advert calender this year!!

I was really debating whether or now to use opks or start temping just in case it added more pressure but I thanks to some of the posts on here I'm going to give it a go. Thanks x

Beige, we were told we'd need 'help' and we hit the jackpot 1st month trying, husbands and partners seem to think in 'logical' steps. You might get pregnant straight away, and he gets 9 months to save instead of 12 ; one thing (if I'm not been cheeky) I'd suggest is try not to let him know when it's the fertile time, men can really let the pressure get to them and then it becomes a duty shag :( that's where those monitor things are useful as they flag up the days you're becoming fertile as well as the ones where you're most (which is usually two)
Crack open the sherry and mince pies- Christmas spirit -baby dancing ahoy!

That's very good advice Minnie. I'm just hoping that because we'll both be on Christmas leave on my most fertile days, DH will think that all of his Christmases have come at once and wont question my motives!

Hello! Please can you add me to the Dec bus? Am going to try and be very positive and gung-ho this month and DTD as much as possible! Good luck to us all. (Talking myself positive, does it sound like it's working?!)

Stats: ttc #2 cycle 11 BFP 5th dec hopefully!

You're not alone beige. I think for me the scary bit is that although I'm working in a maternity unit there's still an awful lot of unknown to deal with. Add in that it's the High Risk unit and all of a sudden my anxiety's sky high before we start!

Plus there's not much chance of my colleagues missing early pregnancy symptoms either, so even in that very early few weeks it's all going to be really tense even if everything goes well!

Feeling fed up today ...

Always tired recently with work and not enough time to dtd as often as I would like :(

This must be the reason why I'm still trying after 2 years

We have the talks me and my partner and agree to kick it up a gear and nothing changes lol

BeigeBuffet · 06/11/2013 13:01

KnottyKnitter, I feel for you, it must be hard seeing on a daily basis the absolute highs and lows of a high risk maternity unit. I'd almost prefer not to know. Would you tell your colleagues early on and ask for their discretion or would you try and keep quiet?

Hyland, I don't mean to pry or be rude, but could your tiredness be linked to anything else? Have you ever had your blood checked for thyroid problems? I remember my mother when she was diagnosed with under active thyroid being tired all the time. Saying that I do completely recognise the difficulty in having time when you are both working, it's so hard. DH likes to go to sleep much later than I do and by the time he comes to bed I'm knackered!

minnieheehee and m33r can I pick your brains? We're at the point where I think the GP is going to refer us (on next visit) but I'm not sure who to exactly (no specific problems identified). I was horrified to hear you are waiting 6-9 months for a referral M33r is that right? Who's that to see? Also this is ttc #2 for us, does that mean we'll get no help or just no IVF? I'm wondering if we should skip the whole thing and just go private in which case we need to start budgeting now!!
Sorry if wrong to ask on this bus! Promise all future posts will be about having a successful nov/dec so none of this is necessary!

Hyland · 06/11/2013 18:20

I don't think I've been checked out for that before no however, after just reading up quickly on the symptoms it doesn't sound like me lol

I think we just have to much on our plate working 6 days a week, which is sometimes 7 if your working the Sunday and then the Saturday the following week. To add to that target in a sales environment always makes for a stressful life.

Our problem is by the time we get home from work and have dinner and put a bit of washing on and helped with homework the evening is gone.

Daisy, not offended. Don't want to go into too much detail here as in
danger of outing myself! Happy to pm you and chat in more detail.
IVF is one of those areas that are a postcode lottery. It's also age dependent. So called 'secondary infertility' is more common that people realise. The NHS is a joke for things like this sadly. I'd seriously consider seeing someone to get all the tests etc out of the way, then talk thru your options with your GP. I wish we'd done it earlier as for us IVF is the only option and we may have left it too late :(
Knotty, look at it another way, you're surrounded by experts :) my friends a midwife and said it meant when she had a few hiccups she got to have additional scans and blood tests done super quick.
Hyland, this sounds like us last year. We ended up having to schedule date/bonk nights :( maybe check out some supplements too? I found the Bach flower remedys helpful, my Physio used them, I thought they were Mumbo jumbo but they seemed to help :)

DaisyDoo44 · 07/11/2013 07:47

Thanks minnieheehee

Am going to look into the mumbo jumbo this month and also try and have an uber perfect month - no caffeine, no booze, lots of DTD. I keep having on and off months in terms of how hard I'm trying - this is a 'let's give this our best shot' month.
Just as soon as I can get rid of AF.

hyland that sounds like a lot of work! We have similar issues during the week at least - it's always the last thing on the to do list at the end of a very long day! As a result last month we were a bit lax and when AF arrives I kick myself for not having got a grip and just DTD anyway! This month determined to plough on through and prioritise! Although it's easy to say that at this stage!

Fingers crossed for a bumper august next year everyone.

Hi, can I jump on? TTC #2, cycle 4, bfp 4th dec

Just got AF 3 days late so was getting my hopes up even though I know we hadn't DTD at the right times last month. So don't know what my bfp date should really be but I'll stick with assuming it'll be a 28-day cycle!

Does anyone have advice on what sticks to pee on? I've just bought some really cheap tests from amazon to have ready, why are they about 50x the price in boots? Just paying for the packaging or are the "proper" ones better?

Report
Ellisisland · 07/11/2013 14:27

Akachan - I used the cheap ones last time I was ttc and they worked fine Smile

Report
PunkyPod · 07/11/2013 14:39

Ackachan, I can't really answer what the differences are between cheap Amazon sticks and more expensive Clear Blue digi are. But with DD1 I used cheapy sticks, when the line appeared we dtd every day for 4 days while the line was pretty solid and hey presto I got preggo. I'll be applying the Same method this time...

Report
Minnieheehee · 07/11/2013 14:41

I think you pay less for the fiddle factor- having to pee in (my fave) an old deo lid etc. only difference I found was using the clear blue monitor which tells you when you're approaching peak time, plus the two peak days. I used the same ones first time around too and they were fine :)

Has anyone else noticed AF changing length? I've been off the pill for 4 months now, cycle still a bit irregular but getting better. AF is normally 3 - 4 days, but it's currently been going for 9 days and is still going! It's driving me slightly mad.

barmy not to worry! periods usually get lighter on hormonal contraceptives! but your unmedicated cycle is now re asserting itself. Usually a bit heavier than on combined pill and lots heavier than pop.

I have to say I'm not really looking forward to finding out where mine are up to, but nearing d-day and more twitchy and excitable as the days go on.

Hi folks xx just got kicked off November. Is anybody doing updates for dec yet? Can I join the bus? Ttc #2 cycle 2 hoping for bfp 5th dec xx

Report
barmybunting · 08/11/2013 19:25

knottyknitter, thanks. I was on the combined pill, so it is most likely just that. It is not particularly heavy, AF was always fairly light before I went on the pill, I just can't believe how long it has lasted. It has mainly disappeared now, but still very red spotting, 10 days after it started! I had random spotting mid cycle last month as well for the first time so as you say it just sounds like it is all settling down. I wish it would hurry up!

Fx you don't have to find out what yours is like to many times as you will have a Dec bfp!
