Planning ahead for Christmas! December bus starting far too early...

Hi All,

Anyone else around for the Dec bus yet? I think AF has managed to kick me off Nov already as she has arrived a few days early, and my cycle will probably mean she is next due at the beginning of Dec rather than Nov.

So does anyone else want to climb on board and help me hang tinsel and drink mulled wine to while away the time until that bfp in Dec?

Howly, I'm a teacher as well. I had it nicely planned to time with a house/country move for next July. That has now been pulled forward to January, I am not pregnant and I need to find a new job where we are moving to! So we have just decided to scrap any sense of planning and get on with it, and deal with the timing when it comes round to that.

Just to say, double check your dates. We dtd mid December last year, got bfp Xmas day and our ds3 was born 24th august, 5 days before edd.

He is beautiful, amazing and I wouldn't be without him, but wish I had checked dates online. He will prob be youngest in his year, which worries me a lot.

Chumbies2001 · 01/11/2013 18:24

I have ch

Chumbies2001 · 01/11/2013 18:27

Ooops... I have checked the dates online and they say dd as sept 1st. Obviously some babies come early rather than on time or late but I wasn't as much worried about them being youngest in the year (although I would prefer them to be the oldest) it's timing it for maternity leave as we couldn't afford to have all the summers hols off on maternity pay. I'll just console myself with the fact it will be ok if we didn't conceive first month and the dd would be later.

wispywoo1 · 01/11/2013 22:19

I think my bfp will be due 8th Dec, ttc #1, cycle 1. is that all of the info?

We have been thinking about ttc this month but that will lead to a July due date which will affect maternity pay (another teacher here).

Howly · 01/11/2013 23:14

Omg all these dates are making my head spin! I counted backwards from the 8th of September by 40 weeks and it worked out we needed to conceive in December! I dunno if that's a scientific enough way of working it out!

Doesn't matter so much for us now, we dtd unprotected for the first time tonight so I guess the ball is rolling! Might not need a seat on the December bus!! Eek! (Gets off and chases after November bus!!)

Lime19 · 02/11/2013 08:16

I got my ticket for dec bus. Af just got me. Rubbish!!!

Lime19 ttc number 1, cycle 3, bfp due dec 2

wispywoo1 · 02/11/2013 18:57

Howly don't forget your due date is calculated using the date of your lay period. It's not 40 weeks from conception. only about 38. You'd have to conceive around mid-late Dec I reckon. If that's right anyway... Confused

wispywoo1 · 02/11/2013 18:57

last not lay. silly phone

Catface78 · 02/11/2013 19:14

Can I jump on the bus too? Got AF as a Halloween trick so hoping for an early December BFP. Just got a cbfm so feeling positive. cycle 2 ttc #1 bfp due early Dec.

Good luck everyone!

BeigeBuffet · 02/11/2013 23:07

Can I jump on this bus too? It'll be my first time ttc and I've just checked online that with my cycles Dh and I should dtd on New Year's Eve! Happy New Year indeed!!

akachan · 03/11/2013 08:21

Re: dates. I thought it was 280 days from first day of your last period? As a rough estimate anyway!

PunkyPod · 03/11/2013 09:08

From the date you'd like to give birth, count back 8 months. That is the date you'll be wanting to get a BFP (roughly). And then work backwards from there. I'm hoping for an Aug baby which is why I'm on this bus.

Chumbies2001 · 03/11/2013 10:58

There is an app you can download called ovulation calendar that let's you put in you menstrual cycle dates and length in days and, assuming you are fairly regular, it will tell you your fertile days and corresponding approx dd for each cycle for about 6 months ahead. Very useful if you need to plan maternity leave!

QuietNinjaTardis · 03/11/2013 12:49

Hi guys just hopping on to see if anyone wants some pregnancy tests posted to them? Just found them in a drawer and as I'm 36 weeks and as big as a house I don't think I need them anymore!
I was on the buses when ttc and know how expensive it can get buying all the paraphernalia so let me know if you want them.
I've got 9 cheapie tests that I bought from sme fertility. They're sensitive to 10miu/ml so good for early testing (got my bfp on 11dpo) and expire in 11/2014.
Good luck to all of you ttc!

Chumbies2001 · 03/11/2013 13:06

Hi QuietNinja if you don't think you will be needing them again in the future I wouldn't mind having them if they are still available?

QuietNinjaTardis · 03/11/2013 13:45

No probs chumbies just pm me your address and ill pop in the post when I get the chance. Maybe tomoro or tues.

Howly · 03/11/2013 14:10

Right got my dates in order now! Thanks everyone for helping with that! I used an online calculator and if we want a dd of 08.09.14 then we need to conceive around the 16th December, AF is due the 17th so it's likely if I don't get a BFP in Nov then we will hang on til Jan!

Gosh didn't think ttc would be so complicated!

Catface78 · 03/11/2013 14:45

I've just bought a clear blue fertility monitor. Tried last month but had an extra long cycle. So despite shagging for 7 days straight we missed that egg!!! Hope the cbfm will help make it second time lucky. Will keep you posted.

Minnieheehee · 03/11/2013 15:33

May I hop on? TTC number 2 for a year and starting our first round of IVF and if all goes well will be testing around Christmas Day :)

m33r · 03/11/2013 17:30

Can I jump on? Ttc #1; cycle 12. minnie is your ivf on nhs? Sorry if too personal a question, just wondering how long the wait is? We're in a queue for a consult but that's 6-9minths away

Catface I started using the cbfm last month after a friend passed hers onto me. My cycles have been all over the place since I came off the pill about 5 months ago. I had a good idea of when I ovulated as I was temping, but didn't want to be temping when ttc as it seemed too much, so cbfm seemed like a good idea.

Whilst we obviously had no joy last month given I am on this bus, it did pinpoint ovulation quickly for me despite a long cycle. I have found it useful just for the thought that I am doing something whilst I wait!

Someone mentioned to me that if you have cycles longer that 36 days, set your cbfm a few days after AF starts rather than on the day, so it asks you for the sticks on day 12 for example instead of day 6. Mine started on day 6 last month, and finished asking for sticks on day 26. Given I oved on day 25, if I had been any later, I would have missed it. I've set mine a few days later this month just in case.

barmybunting My average cycle is 30 days so should be fine. But how annoying that it was the first month we were trying. Thought I was duffed up but was just late! Good luck with your cbfm!
