For all the lovely 10+ers, and anyone else lurking, who has been trying for long enough to start worrying. This is a great place to rest until the elusive BFP shows up.

rabbit it's ok, I was traumatised when I hit blood vessels when I was injecting too. It made it all feel scarier and more invasive. And like you I don't like the sight of blood! I am pretty squeamish in fact, but I've been told that with your children you get over the squeamishness to some extent because you don't have a choice. Keep going, we are all rooting for you.

seamermaid · 09/11/2013 23:16

Go Boris grow!
Big hand hold for rabbit. You are being amazingly brave. Keep going and take deep breathes. Think yogic thoughts. It can work. Your ovaries CAN produce eggs which is excellent. Try to take it one day at a time. It's too early to think about surrogates but understand why research other plans can help mentally. Massive hug and hand hold. X

sarlat · 10/11/2013 07:58

Rabbit - hoorah for boris, one step at a time, one hurdle at a time. Ec is your next goal.

I am still fascinated by all these little follies. You most certainly don't have empty ovaries. Keep going sweetheart. Sorry about the blood. Xx

Ginestas · 10/11/2013 18:40

Just popping in quickly to offer rabbits a quick hug and cheer on Boris. Of the 4 cannula I had for EC and ET, none of them bled at all, well not that I could see, and I'm a bit of a bleeder as you know. Some bruised but that was it. Thinking of you this week and also of you mrsd. X

rabbitonthemoon · 10/11/2013 19:03

Thanks critter, sar, sea and gin. I feel my post yesterday was most unbrave so have had to give myself a stern talking to. I'm finding it very hard not to stress out about this so I'm trying not to see Boris as my last genetic child hope. I don't actually have to decide that right now. I hope everyone's had a good weekend.

eurochick · 10/11/2013 19:24

rabbit you are allowed to be unbrave as much as you like. Next week, before my scratch, I am likely to be very unbrave myself! You are doing amazingly well to be injecting yourself when you hate the sight of blood!

I've had a lovely weekend - bought a car yesterday and shot our new gun out in the sunshine today! (Photos will go up on t'other place shortly.)

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 14:26

Boris is 17mm and being collected on Wednesday. Agh!

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 15:02

That's great news rabbit, i still think you might get more than one at ec. And you only need one :)

Euro, I trust you have bought a very unbaby friendly car just to tempt fate.

I'm a week past ec and no sign of anything interesting happening. My boobs aren't even sore.

eurochick · 11/11/2013 15:12

Yay, rabbit that's brilliant news! So are you triggering tonight?

mrsd I'm selling the very unbaby friendly car (2 seater with a 3.5 litre engine) and buying a Volvo! The unbaby friendly car ply didn't work at all well for me.

My boobs didn't start tingling until a day or so after I got my BFP. It's too early for anything interesting to be happening. When are you planning on testing?

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 15:18

I know it's too early, and I really don't expect to have symptoms but the 2 ww drives me crazy! I made the mistake of reading a thread where people had ec the same time as me and of course they're all reporting symptoms Hmm I don't think implantation would even happen before today.

Rabbit, getting to ec is a big achievement. Remember at the start you didn't think you'd get that far. One step.

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 15:34

Yes I'm triggering tonight, waiting for the phone call to say when. I am almost always asleep by ten so midnight isn't going to go down well! After the trigger I'm presuming no more injections (but can't actually remember so need to check in phone). What the hell does the trigger actually do and why hcg? Will be glad to see the back of the jabs.

Den I think there really is just the one on there all black hole like. The little follies are almost vanished on my right ovary that looked like a lazy squashed toad today and was not hiding at all. In its clear image we were shown how it is long and thin and looks as if it could always have been non functional, I've been told that by three scanners now but there were follies on it and a 4mm one on day 6 so I'm not convinced. Looking through my post op notes, my left tube is the sluggish one that took a long time to flush. How typical. Good tube, sleeping ovary, sluggish tube better (though admittedly quite bag puss like) ovary. No wonder this has all been so fecking difficult. Den I'm sorry that you feel symptom less. But I am sure it means little. Those suppositories can cause similar symptoms can't they. I really hope you get a big surprise.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/11/2013 15:38

Well done, Boris! Keeping everything crossed for smooth EC on Wed, rabbit. Also, I am intrigued by your treatment and have been wondering whether things would have gone differently if only... You clearly don't have duff ovaries. And on SO cycles I always had a strong forerunner who ate all the gonal-f.

Mrsd most of those symptoms will be progesterone, natural or supplemented, trust me. I didn't get convincing symptoms with this diffment, except the absent period until at least 6 weeks I have some more now, but still not sick, no weird tastes etc. I am rooting for the brilliant 2.

Shame the car ploy didn't work, but maybe the Volvo will be filled with baby seats before you know it, euro. Keeping everything crossed for your next round.

Thinking of you all, keeping a low profile but cheering by the side lines.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/11/2013 15:41

Just quickly rabbit: Hcg and LH (the normal egg release hormone) are very similar in structure. So hcg can be (and is) used to trigger the release of Boris. You need to get him loose enough to be able to aspirate him from the supporting cells.

Probably no more injections, but instead evil disgusting progesterone pressaries, I'd guess. Some people get progesterone injections and I've heard of supporting implantation with hcg injections too. But I think the pressaries are most likely.

Handhold!

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 15:46

Hi lemons! It's nice to know you're cheering us on. How are you feeling? How many weeks now?

Rabbit, I'm amazed that when you had the op, no one mentioned that the ovary didn't seem to be functional. You'd think that would be sort of a critical finding in fertility investigations. Don't worry about sluggish tubes now, that's the beauty if Ivf. No tubes needed! The trigger matures the egg, it has to be done exactly 36-38 hours before eg because after that your body will ovulate on its own. I was really panicking on ec day because the clinic was running late. I went into the theatre at 10:45. 37 hrs and 45 mins after the trigger and the anaesthetist had the gone AWOL. The dr was pretty anxious and I think they were pretty close to being too late. I was finally put to sleep at 10:55!

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 15:48

The Injektionsl might not be over rabbit. I'm taking a clexane injection every day, and a whole manner of other drugs but I think that's more to do with the risk of ohss.

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 15:49

Thanks lemon. I've just done a bit of reading and a know stressed that Boris is too small to trigger Blush he's supposed to be 18-20. Does 1mm matter? He feels quite precious. I also wonder if different meds might have given me a different result. I don't think I'd ever get more than 2-3 but 2-3 would have felt a bit better. I'm currently seeing if I could try again, cancel if need be and pay the cancellation fee and freeze my nhs round and if my nhs round can be used for donor. I'm sure the nhs will answer that one promptly - not!

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 15:51

But den did you get a free day after the trigger? I don't think ohss will be a worry for me Grin unless I have stealth invisible follicles.

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 15:51

Under hyper stimulation syndrome!?

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 15:53

He might grow 1mm by ec day, don't they grow average 2mm a day? Also, I'm still not convinced their measurements are totally accurate.

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 15:54

Just read that den, god lying there wetting myself that Boris had escaped would just be too much! Yes it would have been nice if some bugger had thought to mention my ovary before especially as they saw it in Real Life! They are classed as 'gleaming with health' on my reports. Angry

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/11/2013 15:56

Boris will probably grow the extra 1mm during today! Also, anything over 15mm can contain a ripe egg, I was told. I really think he'll be okay, rabbit. Complex thoughts on booking and cancelling, can't help with them I am afraid. I do know that my clinic wanted a full month off after IVF to let the hormones settle.

mrsd I thought clexane had to do with immune stuff? I don't know, really. Sorry about the OHSS risk, I thought the main thing was to drink and rest enough?

AFM things seem to be okay although I really don't believe it yet, 10+2 today. We get a bonus clinic-scan this week and if all goes well, we'll be released into normal care.

rabbitonthemoon · 11/11/2013 15:57

Oh yes, he might keep growing. Thank you! I just read that 70% eggs fertilise. They did say today that they might use icsi to be on the safe side. You all might tell from my cluster posts that I'm finding this quite intense!

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 15:57

Yes, day before was injection free, that was nice. The clexane is primarily for the ohss but my doctor thinks it also helps with implantation and supporting early pregnancy. It makes the blood less sticky, if you do get to et then it might be worth asking if there is anything you can take like clexane that might increase chances of pregnancy. I hate drugs but I'm at the point of being willing to try anything and the injections are second nature now.

Mrsden · 11/11/2013 16:04

I'm more at risk of DVT because of ohss risk, that's the reason for the clexane plus the added benefit of less sticky blood helping little embryo make a cosy home. That's the theory anyway.

Rabbit, I'd take your clinics advice on whether to use icsi. We had to have it because of male factor. We had 72% fertilisation with icsi.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/11/2013 16:04

Oh rabbit, it is intense. The thing about IVF/ICSI is that fertilisation is completely out of your hands. Boris will get the best possible chance and since I heard nelly's story I'd be tempted by ICSI, if I am honest. Will be keeping everything crossed and hoping for the best possible result! The stats are meaningless, the only thing that matters is whether Boris will get fertilised and all we can do is pray and hope for you. You can have a sneaky glass of wine between EC and ET I did
