Well I thought I'd get the ball rolling and start up the October bus, there's plenty of Cake and Wine on board and extra comfy seats for relaxing into those BFP's

Aww Jessie, that would be great wouldn't it! A lovely Xmas pressie!
We only told the parents when we found out. I was about 6 weeks when we told them. We lived 3.5 hours away, and we found out 10th December. We went back the day before New Year's Eve as we were out with our friends back home for nye,cso we told the parents then.
We didn't tell anyone else until after 12 weeks though, even though I spent the whole nye trying to convince 15 people I was on antibiotics Wink
My mum is a retired mw, and despite not knowing were trying, and we'd not made any hints about kids at all, as soon as I refused a choc chip cookie about 10 mins after getting to their house from ours, she said 'have you got something to tell me?' Wtf? Shock

We got to see ds early jan as I had a bleed nye just to make matters worse so I was glad we told the parents as my mum sorted me with an early scan back at our then home Smile

Choccywoccydodah · 27/09/2013 09:19

And, it's great having the men at home isn't it Grin. Hope he doesn't go too far for you at the wrong time though!

charleslingus · 27/09/2013 09:49

So glad it's all going well tea, you've brought back lots of lovely memories about how exciting it all is, I'm even looking forward to giving birth (rose tinted glasses!) I'm grand thanks, feeling laid back for now!

Keep in touch!

Choccy I have 2 sons and me and my husband are able to take them to school every day and be around all the holidays. We do have a business, but we work from home and very flexibly and not much, so everything is done when they are at school. It is heaven and feel so lucky to be able to live like this.

If we are lucky this month we'll have a private scan so grandparents will get a surprise pic in their card. Love Christmas, this better bloody work.

Choccywoccydodah · 27/09/2013 11:42

Fingers crossed Charles, sounds like a plan. Yes we're very lucky to be able to be able to bring children up ourselves aren't we! It's what we've always wanted to be able to do even if sometimes I think work might actually be easier! Don't know how I'd cope on my own sometimes when ds is a nightmare! Like now, he's currently wanting the ipad just because I'm using it!

Kemie · 27/09/2013 11:52

Well I'm guessing I'm out already as the dreaded spotting has started grrrr, oh well not to be (which is actually a good thing this month as I don't want to miss my friends wedding by being ready to give birth (although I wouldn't mind too much). once AF has properly kicked in I'll update my stats and jump on the back of the bus..... Here we go again!!

ScienceGeekGirl · 27/09/2013 12:46

Sorry to hear that kemie least you have short cycles so you can stay in this shiny October bus. Plus it's only spotting so might not be out yet FX

Liquidambar · 27/09/2013 13:33

kemi sorry about Af. Are you sure it's af?

choccy that's great that both of you can be home with dc. We both work full time and we don't have any family around so I have a couple of people that help us with DS, otherwise it would be impossible.

bloumer I hope you had a good flight. San Francisco. .. that sounds great!

one I'm very impatient and counting the days... 9 days to end of the 2ww.

wispax last month was very frustrating. I started testing 4 days before. I still don't understand if I got a lot of evaporation lines or if there was something going on but it didn't stick. It was a bit emotional so I think this month I will probably only test on the day if af doesn't show up before.

I hope next month I don't ovulate on Cd 10. I'll be away for work from cd3 and l will see dh on cd 11. Very slim chances for it to happen.

I'm so happy it's finally Friday! Grin

Kemie · 27/09/2013 14:01

Have had pre af spotting for years so don't even kid myself anymore that it's anything else, normal cycle so due af twice in october, so it can still be a lucky bus for me!
Feeling quite chilled out about it now, the reflexology helped there, hopefully it'll also help with the elusive BFP too

OP posts:
Liquidambar · 27/09/2013 14:09

kemi fingers crossed October is your luck month. Have you been doing reflexology for long?

I had a reflexology session on Monday. it was meant to be around ovulation but it was a few days after. Not sure how much it can help with bfp this month but nonetheless it was a great feet massage.

Milknosugar33 · 27/09/2013 14:31

Hello everyone!

Today I have a bit of a dilemma going on in my head, and where better to air it than here!

Prepare for TMI!

We DTD on Monday, Wednesday and yesterday and I'm expecting a positive OPK tonight, which I now understand means up to 36 hours before ovulation.
(Had faint line yesterday and cycle has been clockwork since I've been measuring!)

If you were me would you
a) get DH to perform tonight, tomorrow and Sunday (the poor thing!)
b) give him a rest tonight, try on Saturday morning and on Sunday night (more of a break between each)
c) try tonight and Sunday (break on Saturday)
d) any other combo?!

He's game and so am I, and I'm not sure if 'tired sperm' is an actual thing or if it is just tired DH!

DTD is definitely stronger with a longer break in between, but I don't want to miss our window.

I suppose the question is really quantity or quality?!

Any views?!

I LOVE Jessie's idea of telling everyone about a BFP at Xmas!

Bloumer · 27/09/2013 15:00

milk I'd try to dtd as much as poss in the 3 days following +opk (ie once a day at least). But we're not machines, so if you're feeling knackered I'd aim for at least twice this weekend (Sat am and Sun pm sounds good). Sperm live for up to 3 days (or is it 5?) so you'll definitely have some around for OV. I think dtd-ing more just means there are more of the little swimmers around, to up the chances of one completing the journey. Hope that helps!

charleslingus · 27/09/2013 15:02

Milk, we had that issue this cycle as we were determined to get lots of dtd in before ov, but obviously when ov hits you feel that you have to still keep going. We did, as 3 previous cycles been more relaxed with recharge time, and as you can see I'm still here, so it didn't work for us, so this time we kept going. Didn't want to regret not trying hard enough again. So can't really help you with whether it will work or not, but it'll make you feel like you haven't missed any window iyswim.

Milknosugar33 · 27/09/2013 16:20

Thank Bloumer and charleslingus

I was just contemplating whether there is anything in the idea of fresh/tired sperm?!

Sounds like you would both just get DTD-ing as much as possible - so on that basis I think I will too!

I'm not knackered by it, but DH might be! Still, a goal is a goal right!

We stopped on the day of the opk positive the last two cycles so definitely going to keep the momentum up the following days.

Will let you know how we get on!

Choccywoccydodah · 27/09/2013 16:26

Milk, I've just read about this online and apparently as long as you dh/DP has a good sperm count, doing it every day doesn't really have too much affect. ie, there are around 100 million sperm released on a normal day, if you wait at least 24 hours in between, there is little difference, something like, 88 million sperm. The website said it sounds a lot, but not on the grand scheme of it all, when only a few hundred get through.
It did, however, say that it you dtd every day for 7 days plus, it would start to have quite a dramatic effect.

I'm due ov this weekend I think, and we've dtd the last 2 nights with conceive plus as I knew dh would probably be out tonight, plus we'll dtd every night for 3 days tomorrow, where hopefully i will get my pos opk Smile

Kemie · 27/09/2013 16:26

liquid tried reflexilogy once a few moths ago, from last cycle I'll be going every month now, before I went last time I had been really teary for a week, and when I came out I felt amazing and have done since, rebooked for next one instantly and will continue going monthly

fluffythelabcat · 27/09/2013 16:37

Hello ladies can I jump on the bus please? Have been lurking for a while but not joined a bus yet.

fluffythelabcat ttc#1, cycle 3, BFP due 24th Oct

Am trying the 'relaxed' approach but it has got me nowhere so far so have caved and going to start temping this month. Am 34 years young.

MundayCakes85 · 27/09/2013 16:42

Hoping for some advice really. This is my first month of cheapy OPKs and today and yesterday had faint lines within the time frame. I know these aren't positives but I'm assuming I'm nearing O day??
I'm also temping this month and no rise yet, guess I have some more time to DTD.

charleslingus · 27/09/2013 16:46

Yeah, it got pretty unromantic towards the home stretch, especially as h wasn't feeling very well but his words were 'I want a baby so I have to (dtd)' I was nearly swept off my feet.

He's normally bloody wonderful but I think I really took it out of him (literally) he's even iller now. But hopefully it'll be worth it for all of us!

Hi fluffy, welcome! Have you been using opks? Temping sounds hard but it seems to be the only way to get exact results.

charleslingus · 27/09/2013 16:53

Munday, mine start so faint they can be barely seen, then a line but not positive then a positive. From day 8 to day 12/13. (8,9,10,11 were barely there, 11 was darker but not pos, 12 was darker then control this month)

So hopefully you should see a pos in the next day or so, and dtd now is perfect as ov-3 till ov+1 are your prime days! Good luck

fluffythelabcat · 27/09/2013 16:54

No not been using anything, the thought of POAS every day doesn't really appeal!! Might add that in next month though!! Temping seems easier (and cheaper) although I know you need to give it a couple of months to see a pattern. I just need to feel I am doing something proactive!!

ThreeFromDesire · 27/09/2013 16:55

I'm 9dpo tomorrow and may hAve to test even though I know it's very unlikely anything will show! Lost just under a stone since last cycle on sw and I'm hoping that has made a bit of ttc difference... though I need to lose three more

Should wait until next week really but ne'er mind!!

Choccywoccydodah · 27/09/2013 17:09

Good luck three, hoping we get a bfp on this bus soon!

Munday, mine are the same. Nothing, then the faint line keeps getting darker and darker over a few days. I usually only do one per day, but I've started doing 2 -or 3-- just to make sure I don't miss my surge as it can happen in as little as 12 hours, so if you test once per day, you could potentially miss it.

Choccywoccydodah · 27/09/2013 17:10

And we'll done three on losing a stone!!

MundayCakes85 · 27/09/2013 18:02

Thanks Choccy and Charles. Feel like I'm doing everything I can this month. DH is away until Sunday watching Football so hopefully I'll get a +ve Monday. Fingers crossed for everyone on the October bus!

CleverOl10 · 27/09/2013 18:23

So interesting to read everyone's stories. I am definitely not aa technical and clued up as most. Just used online calculator to work out ov time then dtd! Might need to learn a bit here if I need future months.

I'm still 5ish days away from af due date but it's not that reliable tbh. Strangely have had cramps ever since ov which I don't normally have. But no other symptoms so think it's my body trying to get my hopes up!
