Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

And hi Bubbles! Sorry I forgot before. :-)

mrsm22 · 20/10/2013 21:01

Hi all, feeling really tired tonight after Xmas and birthday shopping. In fact, the last few days I keep needing to wee a lot and feel very hungry and tired. ( DH keeps saying I could be pregnant) , but I doubt it and not going to poas until November .
Toothpaste - I think a fire engine is great. We probably have gone a bit over the top but we loved the car and it's going to be DS 's 2nd birthday and Xmas so he will be a lot more aware this year and able to open his presents etc. I can't wait! Hope we are all pregnant by then x
Toothpaste - are you in our book club ? And Hungry and Utopian? I need to know whether to try get hold of my copy tomorrow, obviously we will wait til we've all got a copy x

Yep, I'm in, Mrs. :-)

I think you're near to OV at the moment as it's two weeks since your AF started; I hope you've been DTD loads this weekend!

If not, get going now!!

utopian99 · 21/10/2013 07:07

Hi Horace I looked on fb and can't find you either. No idea what's going on!

IBelieveInEngels · 21/10/2013 08:16

Sorry for going AWOL over the weekend. Was DS’s birthday party yesterday so spent Saturday getting the house ready and Sunday being overrun Grin Normal order has now been restored, though I still haven’t finished to get all of my marking done yet so will have to get down to work this afternoon while DS is sleeping. Have also decided that I will do the 15k I’d signed up for in 4 weeks time. Stopped training for 2 weeks when I found out I was pg, so a bit behind now!

mrsm I’ll hold off on the fb group if you don’t mind. I’m trying to keep MN and ‘real life’ separate as much as I can. I haven’t joined the Dutch MN group as I don’t want to out myself in the expat community (some people may be parents of my students!) plus too many places to keep up with!

lucyjojo It wasn’t a list of 50 books you have to read, but just to keep track of what books you read and get to 50 by the end of the year. It’s really interesting to see what other people are reading and I’ve read some stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise. My list has quite a bit of YA on it.

Have a good week everyone!

oops, why didn't that link work?

Hello everyone!
I'm having my mirena removed at 3 today in the hope of conceiving DC2. I'm so excited but a little nervous as last time I had it removed I almost shot through the ceiling!
I am 33 and currently have an 11 year old daughter from my previous relationship. I never thought I would want any more children but something has changed, maybe it's the clock ticking as I get older!
I'm worried how my daughter will take the news of a new baby sister or brother and would be interested to get some tips from anyone who's been through similar.
My daughter has Erbs palsy caused at birth which was very traumatic and I was told that I could never have a VB again so I just hope that is documented somewhere so I don't have to fight for a CS.
I also had an ovary and fallopian tube removed last year due to a monster cyst, but I was assured it would not affect my fertility.
It's strange because when they told me that last year I really couldn't have cared less about my fertility and now here I am desperate for another child!
This baby will be my partners first child and he is so excited about potentially becoming a father, although I'm not sure he believes me when I tell him how knackering it is!
Well, that's me in a nutshell really! Congratulations to those who have conceived and good luck to those still trying. I hope we are all pregnant by Christmas, I couldn't think of a better gift Smile

Stacks · 21/10/2013 09:22

Morning Peri and welcome :) I also only have one tube, though two ovaries - and I just got pregnant first month of trying! Hopefully that means it's true that one ovary/tube doesn't effect fertility for you.
It must be so exciting to be trying for another. I'm not sure if it's better or worse that I remember the baby phase from my DS so clearly. He's 10 months this week, and the first 6 months were really tough with the lack of sleep. I'm hoping DC 2 will be a good sleeper!
I'm sure others will be along soon to say hi. I need to get DS down for his nap now. Hope your appointment goes well later.

lucyjojo · 21/10/2013 10:20

Morning all, hello Peri nice to ‘meet’ you. Hopefully you won’t have any problems getting pregnant, I have heard that you can be most fertile after coming off contraception, so hopefully this will work in your favour! How long did it take you to fall pg with DD? I think your daughter will be over the moon to have a baby brother or sister. My brother was 10 and my sister 8 when I was born, and they were so excited, they loved having a baby sib to play with. They were a bit like a second set of parents sometimes as I got older, but I did get away with murder being the, very, youngest one. Wink
Thanks for the list Ibelieve that sounds like a good way to keep track of everything you have read, I have a terrible memory for books I’ve read, or movies I’ve seen, I always have to ask DH if I’ve seen a movie someone is talking about! It could be useful for picking books for our book club too, are you joining us? Birthday party sounds like fun, how old was your DS? Good luck with your 15k!!
Glad you had a successful shopping day Mrs, we didn’t make it into town yesterday, the weather is horrid, just makes me want to hibernate indoors. I’m also getting excited about getting presents for my DD, I usually scoff at people who start their shopping nice and early but I’ve already started thinking what I’m going to get her and started a few lists, DH thinks I’m mad. You have some willpower waiting until Nov to POAS. What date was it again you think AF would be due?
utopian where have you been? Anywhere nice? Was it for work or for play? Nice to see you back. Did you mean you dtd Thursday and then again on Saturday? Don’t mean to pry but if that’s what you meant then that sounds like enough I think, they recommend 2-3 times a week really don’t they so you should be fine with that! And if you’re not sure when you ovulate regular BD is the best option.
Hungry I think you should give up your day job and become a fertility expert instead!! You are a very useful person to have on this thread Smile Sorry you’re going through teething hell, poor little tucker. I don’t really have any good tips other than grin and bear it. I think we just stuck with calpol. I’m finding it only gets worse as they get older, DD turns into an actual monster now when she gets any new ones through. I think she just about has a full set though so hopefully that’s the end of that for a while.
Well I’m managing eod. I think I’m ov today/tomorrow based on my very loose guesswork calculations. Definitely going to go down the OPK route if this months not successful.

HungryHorace · 21/10/2013 10:50

Bloody hell, utopian! Maybe somebody else who's a member can add you? I'm sure anybody can add new members, but if not I could then find you through them. How frustrating.

Engels, our FB group is totally secret so nobody in real life knows you're a member or can see any posts. But if you don't want to join, then that's fine too :-)

Good luck with your 15k. Did you enjoy the party?

Lucy, I wouldn't say I'm anywhere near an expert. But last time I found out as much as possible to give us the best chance possible. I was quite pleased to conceive in the fifth cycle at my age!

Hi to Peri! Welcome to the madness. And I'm sure your daughter will love it. Once she gets over the embarrassment of being reminded that you're having sex!! ;-p

Crappy weather here today and we have swimming. Can't really be bothered, but never mind.

Toothpastekissesno2 · 21/10/2013 10:53

Hey all and welcome peri!
Mrs yes I'm in for bg. Will order it too.
Thanks for info on cycles! So useful as I'm boggled by it all.
Wanted to ask one more q! I have had slightly pinky Ewc (sp?!) in last two days. And cramps. I'm so determined not to symptom spot after last month (yes I am failing!) but anyone ever had this?

mrsm22 · 21/10/2013 11:06

Hi everyone ,
Welcome to Peri! Wow you are starting again which is lovely and I'm sure your DD will love a sister or brother to look after, she might sort of help bring the new baby up which I think is nice. Good luck to you !
Hi Hungry - how are you? x As usual , you are spot on with your information. My AF was the 4th October , so two weeks ago . I'm impressed you can remember , I've got it all written down! We DTD this morning and have been DTD most days apart from Saturday but only because DH worked til silly hours in the morning and I was too tired . How's your DD? And how's the tiredness?
Hi Lucyjo - know what you mean, the weather is awful here today. DS is having a sleep so I'm waiting for him to wake up to go do the food shopping ( I hate that boring chore)! It's hard to tell what date my AF is due because I've only had the once since coming off the pill and TTC but if we assume a 28 day cycle, then I work it out to be due on 1st November. Hungry - is this right ? When would you poas?
Is everyone eating super healthily or eating anything special? I've been having porridge every morning with orange juice. I remember my gp saying how good porridge is when you are actually pregnant so surely can't hurt beforehand too.
IBelieve - fair do's if you don't want to join the FB group. What about our book club? I need to order it today so will go on to amazon and do that shortly x

OP posts:
mrsm22 · 21/10/2013 11:09

Hi toothpaste - glad you're joining book club too . Are you ordering from amazon? Do you mean spotting?

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 21/10/2013 14:17

Was the 4th when the full bleed started or the spotting? If it's the spotting it doesn't count.

But anyway, the first full day of bleeding is CD1 (if you start after 12pm it's CD0, CD1 is the next day).

So, if 4th was your first day of proper bleeding and it started before midday then yes, you're due on 1st Nov if you have a 28 day cycle.

And my tiredness is much better, thank you :-) The tablets really seem to be working already.

And DD is great right now. It'll be tonight that the teething pain kicks in for her. During the day she seems to cope better. It's just chewing and drool in daylight hours!

Toothpaste, what CD are you? If it's mid cycle it could be an OV bleed (not common, but nothing to worry about) or if it's towards AF it could be implantation. Or it could just be hormonal! Bodies are annoying. Especially when TTC!

Toothpastekissesno2 · 21/10/2013 15:31

I'm in tww! It wasn't definite spotting more pinky stuff. Anyway need to think about other things and not analyse as what will be will be! Last month had so many symptoms and wasn't pg so def need to just forget it until something proves otherowse! Will order the book to keep occupied x

HungryHorace · 21/10/2013 15:51

God, you'll be driven mad now!! When's AF due?

mrsm22 · 21/10/2013 18:30

Good evening ladies, how is everyone? I really need to share something with someone so it has to be you guys only! We've just had a normal sort of day , I've felt really wiped out tired today and fell asleep earlier on the sofa with my DS. Later we went food shopping and I still felt really tired out. Anyway we took my DS to the park and came home to start tea. I bought a two pack of sainsburys own brand pregnancy tests in the food shop, just for when I need them. I was making tea and DH said to me to go upstairs and just do one but I said there was no point. ANYWAY I did a test and I've got a bloody BFP! I'm speechless and shocked. It's a blue plus on the stick. Will it be right? I'm going to do it again tomorrow first thing in the morning to make sure as it might not be right and the if it is another BFP I'm going to ring the doctors and get an appointment. Is that what you do and then the doctor refers you to a midwife? If I am, I will still be on here every single day with all of you lovely ladies as you're all fantastic xxx

HungryHorace · 21/10/2013 18:40

What?!?! Photo on Facebook now!

That means your last AF wasn't AF!

So many first month people. Just amazing!!

HungryHorace · 21/10/2013 18:41

And congratulations!!!

Toothpastekissesno2 · 21/10/2013 18:43

AMAZING. That's fantastic news mrs!!! It's a definite if it's positive it's only negative that can be wrong!! Congratulations!! We do have a lucky thread!! Xx

mrsm22 · 21/10/2013 18:46

Thanks ladies but I'm not sure til tomorrow xxxxxxx

OP posts:
Stacks · 21/10/2013 18:57

I'm sure your pregnant mrs, congratulations! If it's a good strong line with afternoon pee then you're probably quite far along. Like Hungry says, that means your last AF wasn't AF. Take a look at the due date calculator for both AF dates and see what it comes up with.

I think you can just phone the dr surgery and tell the receptionist, she'll know what you should do then. Some places want you to see the dr, others will just give you the phone number of the midwives.

It's bedtime for DS now. Back in a bit.

IBelieveInEngels · 21/10/2013 19:06

Wow mrsm ! Awesome! Keeping my fx for you.

I won't join book club for this one as have already read KofNLG and am determined to clear my kindle backlog before the end of the year (as well as write 50, 000 worsd in November- eek!).

Party was exhausting. Have been wiped out today. DS is 2 and is so adorable right now - cute and cuddly. Everything is amazing and hilarious to him - chickens, lorries, soap suds, hiding under the table. I am dealing 100 times better with the mc than I did last time (before ds was born) purely because each month I'm not pg is an extra month I get to spend with ds (butvthat doesn't change the fact I really want to be pg!).

Half term is over for me - back to the chalkface tomorrow!

Metalhead · 21/10/2013 19:22

Wow, what a surprise mrsm! Many congratulations!!

HungryHorace · 21/10/2013 19:22

Mrs, as you've had a bleed I'd ask your GP to refer you for a scan just to see what happened there.

And yes, just call and tell the receptionist you're pregnant and they'll tell you what to do next.

Still can't believe we've now had 3 people fall their first month of trying!
