Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

Morning all!!
I'm back at work (I start on a weds) and really wish I wasn't here! Luckily I am only working today and tomorrow this week and have friday booked as holiday. We also DTD late last night after DH was home from work. Hungry- what is secondary fertility (or do i not want to know)? I am terrible for reading things on google and scaring myself to death with worry! I am the biggest worrier in the world!

Hi Atruth - It's me who is jealous of you today! Wish I was at home doing that with my DS! Hate work! Wish I was a SAHM or getting ready to go on mat leave! Have a good day all and will check in later, and on FB of course x

Morning all. I poas this morning again, and think there night maybe be a line there. It's just so faint! I've decided I going to wait till the weekend now before doing another, and count myself as not pregnant till there's a real line! Not told DH either, he was really sceptical with DS - made me poas stick every day for 2 weeks before he believed I was pregnant!

Sorry for the bfn Truth though you really should have waited till the morning. Also, I've had some cramping too, so you're still in with a chance or I'm lying to myself with these pee sticks!

Welcome spider.

Hungry Google is not your friend! I'm sure everything will be fine for you getting DC 2. Good luck on dtd every day, DH and I never manage that, even pre-DS! Most we'd ever manage was 3 days in a row.

It took us 18 months to conceive DS. I have a blocked tube and DH has a couple of problems with his swimmers. I think the hcg I had pre DS is what 'fixed' me though, I conceived the second month after having it.

Tooth good luck to your sister, IVF is very draining. Do they know you're trying too?

Utopian how is DS? Doing much better I hope. Have you had AF at all since having him? I really didn't want to go on the pill before getting my first natural AF at least, it would have driven me nuts not knowing otherwise. I hope you get a bfp or AF asap.

Metal that's annoying about your DH drinking still. Did he promise to cut down, or stop completely? One beer probably won't cause any problems, but it can be so annoying when they promise something then back out. It takes sperm 3 months to mature, so any changes you make will take 3 months to take effect unless you're combating 'brewers droop' or similar.

mrs ovulation is just a couple of days, so you have to be quite careful not to miss it. Dtd eod should make sure there's sperm there to meet the egg whenever it happens, I've always found every day to be too stressful, and DH then usually wants a break for a little while. If you don't know when ov is, you might miss it during that break! It's so stressful!! I hope you get all the DTD done you can manage though :) Maybe next month you can get some cheap opks from amazon? That is if you're not pg by then, which ofc you will be.

Metalhead · 16/10/2013 09:18

Morning ladies, just quickly checking in before getting down to some work.

Sorry for your BFN ATruth.

mrsm secondary infertility is when you already have a child but then can't conceive a second. Don't read up on it though, it'll just add to the stress of ttc!

We're going to our first school open day this lunchtime - can't believe my poor little DD will have to start school next year! Sad Where I'm from kids don't start primary school until they're 6, so 4 seems sooo early to me.

Metalhead · 16/10/2013 09:22

sorry, x-post with stacks - that sounds very promising!!!

I didn't know about it taking 3 months for sperm to mature... in that case maybe his swimmers have still been suffering from a bit of hangover from our holiday in June so far , ha ha! I suppose one beer a day isn't too bad, but I thought we'd agreed to not drink at all Mon-Fri (like we did when we conceived DD).

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 16/10/2013 09:32

First off, don't be jealous of my day mrs - I'm back at work now, just enjoyed a nice lazy breakfast with DS first! I'm a teacher and work pretty much full time (apart from all those holidays, finishing at 3, striking all the time, yadda, yadda Smile)

Stacks - you can't torture us like this. Take a photo of the line! Let us help you decide if it's there Smile Is it you who mentioned earlier that you only have one tube? Me too. And only one ovary (damn you endometriosis!) Apparently neither of those things should make any difference to conceiving, but I find that hard to beleive.

Metal - we're going to go to some open days this half term too. We won't have to apply for DS for another year, but will probably move in the meantime so would like to see schools before deciding where to move to. I say that, but actually, it's almost the end of the half term isn't it? I suspect we've missed them!

I know google isn't my friend, but you lot give me hope, so I'm just about to google 'short cycle late bfp' and see what comes up. My cycle is only 21 days usually, so would that mean that even if i did conceive I wouldn't get a bfp until after I was due? Having said that, I can virtually feel my af building up ready to flood out (tmi?!) so am seriously not hopeful.

Stacks · 16/10/2013 10:07

Put a picture of the invisible line on fb...

HungryHorace · 16/10/2013 10:09

Morning!

Sorry you're at work today, mrs :-( I'm dreading having to go back. Thank god I've a little while yet!

ATruth, there is still hope for you, yes. But if you're not, your cycle getting longer has to be a good thing, yes?

Stacks, I was about to post asking for a stick photo on FB when it appeared! Good luck. :-)

Metal, hope you enjoy the school open day.

Hello to anyone else my brain has forgotten already. :-/

The worst thing about my google scare was that I hadn't even looked that particular thing up. It appeared in an article about conceiving after a c section and how long you should wait. :-( I wasn't a happy bunny!

We managed to DTD every other day then 4 in a row for DD, which I was pleased with! Not sure how we will get on this time. It doesn't help that my app is averaging out my cycles so doesn't really know when my fertile period is. And neither do I, hence the OPKs. I doubt we can manage every day for a week which it may end up being!

Third set of jabs today. Joy! :-/

lucyjojo · 16/10/2013 10:12

Morning all, just catching up over some breakfast.
Stacks you should definately take a picture to show us!! How exciting! Well done you for not getting your hopes up though. When my AF still hadn't arrived by lunchtime last month I was getting my hopes up! (then it arrived at 2pm).
Hungry sorry you're still not feeling great. It does sound like tiredness to me too, are you drinking plenty of water? When my DD was little I felt like a zombie. I always said I should have had my license taken away as I didn't feel safe to drive, I had terrible headaches for weeks and felt like my head was full of cotton wool. I'm so glad she's a good sleeper these days! Also I'm the same with scaring myself with 2ary infertility, it's horrible isn't it!! Don't do it anyone if you haven't already!!
mrs sorry you're in work for the day, won't be long until the weekend though. I'm just wondering what to do with ourselves today, it's cold and miserable outside.
metal good luck looking at schools, must be pretty daunting having to face such a milestone soon! Don't worry, you'll have your hands full with a newborn by then I'm sure and will probably relish the break from a toddler!!! I too think 4 is quite young to start school, do they go full time from the age of 4?
ATruth sorry for your bfn. Heres hoping your AF doesn't show up later today. Sad. Not sure when you would get your bfp if it doesn't show up, I always thought if it still hadn't shown up 2 days after you were due then go for POAS, but I am still a bit confused by cycles and days and when to pee on sticks!!!!

lucyjojo · 16/10/2013 10:14

Oh and Hello to the newbies! [waves] toothpaste I have just started cycle 4 of ttc, we conceived DD on our first cycle last time, and we have joked ever since we must be super fertile, so I was hoping it would be the same this time round.
Sorry your LO hasn't been well utopian ear infection doesn't sound pleasant, poor little thing.

HungryHorace · 16/10/2013 10:57

Sorry, utopian, I missed that your LO was ill. I hope they're better soon. It's not nice seeing them in pain, is it? :-(

Kt1991 · 16/10/2013 11:57

Morning everyone,

Hope your LO is feeling better utopian, not nice when they are under the weather, and can’t give them much else apart from calpol!

ATruth, hope you get you BFP soon! Are you taking anything cause some things like b6 and pregnacare can change your cycle quite a bit so I read on another thread!

My cycles are all over the place now too I have no idea whether period is due next week or week after, as every day nearly for past 2 weeks I have been getting what I thought was ovulation cramps. Feeling pretty uncomfortable with them again today :( Wednesdays are mine and DS’s lazy days, and especially with this weather don’t feel like going out!

mrs do you have anything nice planned for your day off Friday? I have Fridays off as well as Wednesdays, so going to try and go somewhere like swimming or indoor play area Friday I think!

Stacks had a look at your pic on fb, deffo something there, but agree like you said to try in a few days, and hopefully if it is a BFP will be a lot stronger!

Hello to Spider too Smile.

Sorry if I’ve missed out anything, have to keep reading back and forgetting what everyone has written! We are a chatty lot!

mrsm22 · 16/10/2013 16:57

Hi all , I'm just about to finish work so will try get on later to respond to everything on here. I hope you are all ok and feeling positive!
Hungry - No more reading on google! I am banned from reading up on things when I was pregnant! How did the jabs go ? It's never nice. When are you actually due to go back to work Hungry?
Stacks - very sensible to wait until the weekend before you poas again but you could well be our next BFP!
Metal - how was looking at school ? Was this the first you've looked at?
Kt - I normally work weds thurs and fri but have Friday off this week as holiday. Nothing really exciting but my nan'a bday, she is 82 on Friday so going round to see her with my DS and my DM and taking presents. It's been a long day !

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 16/10/2013 19:23

Mrs, I know! It wouldn't have been so bad if I'd deliberately looked for it rather than coming across it elsewhere! Totally not my fault :-(

And poor DD cried more than for the last two. She was very tired at the time though. She's now utterly zonked and I'm bored as DH is at work. :-/

I may make a cake. Or something. We shall see!

HungryHorace · 16/10/2013 19:57

Actually, I'm going to sit and snuggle with DD. :-)

I've decided to start taking iron in the hope that helps with the roughness I've been feeling. Fingers crossed!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 16/10/2013 21:55

Thank you kt. I am taking vit b complex so that's interesting what you said about making cycles longer. And yes hungry - longer cycles would be good from what little I understand. I hope you found some energy. I think iron helps my energy levels (as does vit b - but see above) so it's worth a try. I also find cake helps Grin

I Poas again tonight (did i mention i was impatient?!) And got a very clear bfn. However, I was just sat watching telly with dh half an hour ago and started throwing up. Erm... wtf? So he looks a little panic stricken and I've reassured him about the bfn, but random sickness?! It couldn't be? Could it? Surely if there was enough hcg to make me sick there'd be enough to show on a test?

mrsm22 · 16/10/2013 22:19

Wow ATruth - that is strange! How do you feel now? Wait and see how you feel tomorrow and if there's anymore sickness or feeling unwell as it could be that you are early pregnant or have a tummy bug (hopefully the first of course)! Did you get any morning sickness with your DS ATruth? Fingers crossed for you! x
Hungry - I was actually going to mention that you could be low on iron. What are you taking? After having my DS I was very low in iron and the hospital prescribed ferrous sulphate iron tablets, you can buy them from the chemist or supermarket. I was on 3 a day for months but you could try just taking one a day and see how you go but that is amazing stuff.
Apologies I haven't been on much tonight, I'm really tired from work and got a boring day tomorrow with two hours of training followed by a team meeting for an hour. I took my DS to bed at 7.30pm tonight and watched the hour long Corrie and fell asleep. Just woke up before and thought I had better come on here and check in on everyone. Night night everyone and catch up tomo x Good luck ATruth and Stacks but don't be leaving to rest of us behind x

Stacks · 17/10/2013 08:45

Morning all. Another IC pee stick photo on fb.

Hungry, have you been to the dr? Thyroid problems are common after pregnancy, and can make you feel very tired.

Can't chat much the Andrex limpet monster DS is shouting at me.

Toothpastekissesno2 · 17/10/2013 08:53

Goodluck stacks!! All hoping its a bfp!! Our first for the group!
I dtd last three nights and back to no smiley face today (which I'm secretly relieved about as I'm knackered!) do the tww begins...not that I'm even thinking it's going to happen really! My sis has to take test next week from her first round of ivf so it's quite intense time for them. Fx she deserves it so much after two yrs of Ttc.
At work today too - yawn!! Xx

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 17/10/2013 09:12

I've just seen it stacks - that is definitely a line! You're growing another limpet monster. Congratulations!!!!! Grin

I POAS again this morning and thought I could see something, but then when I checked after 5 mins there was definitely no line - I think it was just the ink floating around that I could see to start with.

So, where is AF? Vit B complex slowing it down? Stress slowing it down? The cut in BFs finally sorting my cycle out? Curiouser and curiouser...

I did realise this morning that, even if I was pg, because of my short cycles I would still only be three weeks pg so it may not show on a test. I am going to hold off buying and more or peeing on any more sticks until the weekend by which time AF should have turned up anyway

Good luck with the 2ww Toothpaste and good luck to your sister. How lovely would it be for you to be pregnant at the same time. Does she know you're ttc too?

Stacks · 17/10/2013 09:20

ATruth if the FRER I've bought show up a nice string line, I'll have 46 Internet cheapies I could post to you :)

HungryHorace · 17/10/2013 09:29

Mrs, I have a sample pack of Pregnacare, so I'm taking those. Felt ok yesterday evening for a change, so will how it goes! I'll buy some conception ones I think.

Stacks, I think it's the teething food monster lying next to me causing the tiredness. One day she'll sleep through! But if I still feel wonky now I've started on vitamins I'll go and see the GP. I don't want a thyroid problem stopping me TTC :-/

And congratulations! You are pregnant :-) Which cycle was this for you? We will run out of people all the BFPs coming along!

Toothpaste, good luck in the 2WW. It's so hard, isn't it?

ATruth, your body is definitely testing you. I'd wait until the weekend too. Actually I'd be pissing on every stick going, but it's easy to give advice!

Stacks · 17/10/2013 12:32

Hungry this is only the first cycle of trying for us. I must admit I'm really shocked, DH and I expected it to take at least 2-3 months. In fact, the timing would have been much better next month! Still, we're both happy to have a DC 2 on the way, even if DH was looking forward to more dtd!

HungryHorace · 17/10/2013 12:49

That's bloody impressive. You and Donna both in your first months of trying!

Have to say I'm a little jealous! :-)

Stacks · 17/10/2013 13:03

I'm still reeling. DS took 18m of TTC, and having only one working tube I normally expect to have to double/halve things. So I was positive it'd take at least 2-3 months of trying! One AF in 18 months, who'd have thunk it?

It'll be your time soon Hungry.
