Hi Sammy. Welcome.

Fabuluce · 03/09/2013 18:07

That we would Res!!!

My clinic now (not when I did my last two rounds!) recommend a scratch as standard - they didn't say anything about the erpc though.

Ps welcome Sammy!

nobeer · 03/09/2013 18:58

res I too have a younger man! I forgot to tell you all about him. He's 35 and no sperm problems.

What happens after a failed IVF cycle? The clinic said I'd need an appointment, but don't know if I phone them or they phone me. How long should I leave it? My bfn was last Thursday.

twinklestar2 · 03/09/2013 19:35

Nobeer - the clinic said they'd contact me for a review appointment but I phoned them. Too impatient.

tametortie · 03/09/2013 20:09

nobeer I would phone them. Get the ball rolling!

resipsa · 03/09/2013 20:23

I called them for an appt about a week after my BFN on 20 May. The first available review appt was (apparently) on 27 June so I'd get it sorted ASAP!

nobeer · 03/09/2013 20:47

Thanks! I'll ring them in the morning.

I ended up having my review appointment from cycle 2 on the day of my first scan for cycle 3 due to my period arriving a week early

BrookerC · 03/09/2013 21:47

Evening ladies Smile
Twinks I had a scratch before my 2nd cycle & it was tres painful. The pain lasted about 5 mins but was extrutiating! . I am planning on having another one though-no point in being shy on the pain front if I want a baby! My clinic don't recommend them automatically but as we got 2 blasties on my 1st cycle, the bfn was put down to implantation so our consultant thought 'it wouldn't hurt'. We are also considering FET next time to give my body a break from the drugs before ET.
maryp I think wim was having progesterone injections. You are doing so well, the 2nd week is definitely the hardest part of the 2ww xx
For anyone who doesn't know/is interested about my destroyed embies, my clinic had an incubator fault overnight of day 1 & our embies were starved of oxygen-they didn't survive. It sounds so awful to hear it described that way even though they are just a bunch of cells at that stage. The clinic pulled out all the stops to explain what had happened We both came away feeling confident that it was a very rare equipment malfunction & we were just very unlucky that it happened to us. We did consider moving clinics but we both trust our embryologist & consulting team, despite what happened, so we're sticking with them for now.

Missmidden · 03/09/2013 21:48

Evening all- what a busy thread today! Welcome Sammy and I hope you're not daunted by how far along people on here are. I joined only about 6 weeks ago and the experience and support from everyone here is truly wonderful.

Brooker you really couldn't make it up- I can only imagine how frustrating the cyst situation must be. Are the clinic certain there is no point treating it more aggressively?
Twinks I loved the temping comedy moment! Whilst I am a committed temp-er it does become a bit obsessive so probably wise not to start if it's going to be too much of a nuisance for you.
Marypops I feel for you- I think it was at around that point I fell to pieces- hope you can summon up a bit more PMA. At least it sounds like your clinic is ensuring your progesterone levels stay well up, which can only help.

While we're doing the resumes: me and DP both 37. DD (3) conceived naturally. TTC no. 2 about 14 mths, unexplained. 1st IVF cycle just done- ET 14th Aug. Was a BFN on test day but now appears to be a BFP- all very wierd.

On that note, today's update is that the clinic (nurse sounded aghast!) said I could do betas but one would almost certainly not be helpful and by the time I have had 2 and got results they could do a scan to get a more accurate result. So have gone with that and am booked in for Mon when I should be 6+3. As that seems a long time to wait I went and bought a CBD which came up at 2-3 weeks. Now wishing I hadn't done that as the fact it didn't say 3+ isn't great- but then obviously I haven't had fast rising HCG levels or I would have known on OTD, so what did I expect?!

So the plan now is to avoid the pricy tests and just do an IC every couple of days to see if the line is getting darker. Oh and continue the frantic knicker watching, symptom spotting etc etc.....

Hi to everyone else- hope you are all doing OK.

Missmidden · 03/09/2013 21:54

Brooker sorry just cross posted- I hadn't heard the full story of your embryo destruction- how truly awful.
Nobeer also just remembered your question about reviews- mine was booked when I called with my BFN result- but was 6 weeks away so I definitely wouldn't be slow in asking to book one. I was not pleased at the delay- if anything should be prioritised by a clinic I would have thought it would be these

BrookerC · 03/09/2013 22:04

missm I am still in Shock about your fantastic news! Flowers
nobeer I had to ring to book my follow up too-the wait was 6 weeks' so I would chase up x
resipsa was your DD conceived naturally?

Wimwom · 03/09/2013 22:14

Hello - did someone mention progesterone injections?! I feel like an expert... Anything I can help with? DH and I have sort of perfected a slightly less painful method - but can't wait to be told I can stop them. Still following you all avidly and hoping for a massive influx into the grads group soon xx

BrookerC · 03/09/2013 22:20

Hello lovely wim! How are the little fuckers these days? It's great to hear from you x

nobeer · 03/09/2013 22:25

Thanks all, and good to know I might have to wait a few weeks.

miss your head must be a whirl! I'm being cautiously excited for you.

OP posts:
Pipbin · 03/09/2013 22:28

Miss I'm still shocked at your news! You must be over the moon. Did you bleed before your BFN?
Nobeer I called mine when I started to bleed and when OTD confirmed a BFN. I've got an appointment next Tuesday.

Llw2 · 03/09/2013 22:28

Brook I can't believe it are you ok? Thinking of you x

resipsa · 03/09/2013 22:32

Brooker, yes, DD needed a year but no assistance.

Miss when I tested with DD at 6 weeks by LMP, the CB digi said 2-3 so no need to worry about that yet.

resipsa · 03/09/2013 22:33

And meant to say, yay, another +ve test. It's looking good for you.

(Secretly Envy, of course).

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/09/2013 22:39

Miss I've just seem your news! This is fantastic! I wouldn't worry about the CBD, they are notoriously unreliable when it comes to the weeks. Roll on monday!

How are the rest of you lovely lot?x

MotorcycleMama · 03/09/2013 22:44

Great news miss Flowers. Don't worry about the digi reading - they are scary and often wrong. Scan will be much more accurate.

Llw2 · 04/09/2013 05:47

Sammy welcome! I'm not much further than you although ours isn't unexplained with motility issues on DH side (lazy so and sos). I'm 32 DH 32 TTC since sept 2011. I've just finished a week of norethisterone and start Menopur after my scan tomorrow. The ladies on here are fabulous and if I can tell you anything at all just shout. It's a horrid situation for us all and between us I'm sure there is someone who will be able to help x

Missmidden · 04/09/2013 09:07

Thank you all you lovely ladies Thanks for your congratulations and reassurance about CBD readings- I know you are all right. And I hope I am not being too annoying- a BFP should be a thing of joy and it is what we all so desperately want, so I am really sorry of I am whining on too much [administers self a slap!]

To answer your question, Pip I bled for 3 days and then stopped on OTD. It wasn't heavy but was more than I would class as spotting, but that is a normal AF for me so I was in no doubt that it was all over. I now suspect the test on OTD may have been a faint positive but I just glanced at it and chucked it as had no expectation at all. I am trying so hard not to be too excited and know that the scan may well bring bad news but at the same time making mental plans for house alterations to create another bedroom

WannabeMaryPoppins · 04/09/2013 09:27

Morning Miss, that all sounds very exciting! My OTD is Monday too, so I'll be there with you Holding Hands Smile. Lets get the snowball of BFNs rolling!
wim it was me with the progesterone injections. I am in the middle of the 2ww and got a call from the clinic saying that I Needed the injections twice a week and am now desperately trying to work out if that is a good sign or not. What do you reckon?
brooker you Sound like you have had so much bad luck lately. Sending you lots of four leaf clovers

Morning to everyone else. Am Feeling more positive today so am going to sit down with Eastenders, British Bake Off (thanks nobeer) and lots of cake. If I have to wait then I might as well try to enjoy it

WannabeMaryPoppins · 04/09/2013 09:34
  • God I meant BFPs!!!! [bloody sausage fingers] So, once more, Miss lets get that snowball of BFP's rolling!
