We've almost filled the second thread so here is a new one, so we can carry on chatting! Threads #1 and #2 saw some stunning successes and some sad outcomes. We'll have more of the former and less of the latter on thread #3 please!

All comers welcome. I found it very useful to be with people going through the same thing when I did my first cycle, so if you would like to join us, please come on in!

Resipsa So sorry for you. Hope we see you back on here soon. Xxx

Life congratulations on the first jab! I think you are very brave - it took me an hour to do my first one and I got into slight hysterical schoolgirl mode! I always do mine in the evenings so I still have that joy to come today.

Mejust thanks for the luck!

I'm also a little confused as to where everyone is at the moment and also history. Would it be worth doing an email? What does everyone think?

Wish totally normal to panic! Although pretty good having Kate's fanny doctor. I'm impressed. If you ever meet her it would be a great icebreaker! Grin

Panic I assume you're not travelling anywhere awesome like the Bahamas? Because if you were I'd swap! On the bright side it may take your mind off things a little.

Motorcycle men! Always underestimating us.

Jewcy · 21/05/2013 11:10

Resipsa, come and talk to us about any tentative plans or hopes you have or even if you don't have any and feel hopeless. We will listen and are thinking of you xx

EuroShaggleton · 21/05/2013 11:14

life I think it's 1 in 20 are abnormal, so a fair number. I'm not too concerned and if it were not for the IVF and timing ishoos, it wouldn't stress me too much. But the dr last night didn't seem at all concerned, which is good, so we can crack on.

motor the plan is to use the rest of this cycle to enjoy ourselves. We're taking an extra day off to make this weekend a four day weekend, which we are going to use to shoot, see friends, etc. I'm going to try to relax, eat well, and enjoy a few glasses of wine (and a bit of the other, when we are past the biopsy sechsban). Not long to wait now for you. :)

wish picking a clinic is such a personal thing. My clinic doesn't have the highest success rates, but the non-pushy, low monitoring approach suits me. I agree with life about picking one in a convenient location.

Hi panic, what's your story. Is this your first IVF cycle?

jewcy the fanny candles are grim, aren't they? I favoured front door + sanny pro and only used the back door when I fancied a bit of sechsy time without wondering whether or not I was grossing him out with all the gunk.

nook Cornwall's the old bird, I think. Kate is Cambridge. Clearly I read too much Daily Fail

I had a bit of a sore night. Clearly having vinegar shoved up your fanny and then having a bit of it ripped off can cause some discomfort. I feel ok this morning though. I have just had acu with my lovely lady and feel better for it.

Euro, sounds fun, does that. I have a couple of friends I wouldn't mind shooting Grin Sorry about your ouchy flaps, how terribly uncomfortable.

'Speshully for you, Nook: Me (almost) 42, th'usband 44; TTC 18 months; mmc at 11 wks last March; 4 x Clomid cycles (utterly, utterly pointless); one blocked fallopian tube; donor egg IVF in the Czech Republic in four weeks!

Jewcy · 21/05/2013 13:07

Oh, yes! Duchess of Cornwall is the decrepit and throaty adulteress not the vacuous swishy-haired clothes-horse.

buzzybee123 · 21/05/2013 13:29

euro Shock at your fiirey cervix, how long is the sesh ban, I usually find as soon as they say no sex, thats when I become more interested,

jewcy I have just finishhed off the pizza from last night Hmm I still have bad wind issues, has I too have read out bits to Barry from this thread, usually because he wants to know what I am laughing at

a woman from ff did over 44 tests in 8 days Shock makes me feel kind of normal, I can't see my own GP until 3/6 thats like 2 weeks away, so seeing some other gp instead, can't get hold of the hospital for a scan eitherHmm

NookNook · 21/05/2013 13:39

Oh I am shamed! Fancy getting my Cornwalls and Cambridges confused.

NookNook · 21/05/2013 16:34

Thank you Jewcy for your info! I'm definitely thinking of donor eggs after this try...

Me 34 DH 40 TTC 5 years (give or take!)
1st IVF 2011 5 eggs, 4 embryos, 2 grade 1, 1 put back. No pregnancy.
2nd IVF 2012 7 eggs, late fertilisation, 2 put back. No pregnancy.

MotorcycleMama · 21/05/2013 16:43

For nooks and anybody else who is interested, here is my history: me 41, DH 39. Mmc at 12 weeks in 2008, pregnancy not planned, different life, still utterly devastating. Married in 2011 and TTC since then. FSH high, AMH low, and one blocked Fallopian tube. Given very low odds of conceiving naturally, and pretty low odds with OE IVF. I'd never heard of DE IVF, so was ready to give up on the dream of having a family, but soon as I became aware of it, and the increased odds of success, we decided it was worth a (very expensive) shot. So, here I am a week away from starting all the accompanying hormonal treatment, and about 8 weeks away from completing the whole protocol.
Hi to buzzy wish resipsa twinkle and mejust
Welcome panic and life!
Enjoy your well deserved long weekend euro. I won't ask what you will be shooting - I am a vegetarian, so will imagine it is clay pigeons!
jewcy the injection is also known as lupron and is for downregging (she says as if she knows what the f*~k downregging is)

EuroShaggleton · 21/05/2013 16:49

motor I only shoot targets, so nothing other than cardboard gets harmed! (However, there are a few birds with clear deathwishes at the range I use - they like swooping around between the shooters and the target line!)

buzz you are so right. Since the mc I've found I have a massive libido rush at the end of my period. Which is about now. Drat.

44 tests!!! Shock Blimey.

NookNook · 21/05/2013 17:14

Thanks Motor! Am I the only repeat IVFer??

Euro I'm SO jealous - I've always wanted to go shooting!

NookNook · 21/05/2013 17:19

Sorry Motor - where are you doing your DE IVF (if you don't mind me asking!)?

MotorcycleMama · 21/05/2013 17:39

I'm at Herts & Essex nook. They have an established egg share programme, and I see on their website at the moment that they have more donors than recipients, so there is very little waiting time. I have no idea how they compare with other clinics, as I only had two criteria when I searched, and that was waiting time, and that it was within reasonable distance from home. We are very near Bourn Hall which has a good reputation, but the waiting time for DE was up to 2 years, which was no good for me (or anyone, I shouldn't think). They do have a partnership with a Spanish clinic though who do egg donation, but I couldn't handle the idea of all that travel. That said, I'm now slightly Envy when I hear other lovely ladies here talking about their fertility treatment holidays!

EuroShaggleton · 21/05/2013 18:35

nook we took it up last year, prompted by ttc! We decided we needed a hobby to do together, so we had something fun to occupy our weekends. It seemed more fun than golf, etc. It turns out, I have a bit of an aptitude for it (I'm not amazing or anything, but managed to outshoot most of the men on my course when I started). And come the zombie apocolyse, you are all welcome chez euro. I can hit a 4 foot target at 1000yds, so an incoming zombie should be no problem. Wink

I should be a repeat IVFer, heading for egg collection this weekend, but due to the badly timed smear debacle #2, we will be going for round 2 next month instead.

twinklestar2 · 21/05/2013 19:10

Me and husband, both 34, ttc first baby since Aug 2011. Hub has low morphology which we're hoping has been improved by 3 months of not drinking. Seeing consultant tomorrow for results and next stage. He did say if the morph hasn't improved we have to go straight to IVF. Hence the reason I'm here.

NookNook · 21/05/2013 19:19

Euro a zombie apocalypse is exactly why I would want to take up shooting. Mr Nook and I have started horse riding which will be useful post zombie apocalypse. Good luck next month! What a pain having to wait. As if we haven't all been waiting long enough already.

Thanks Motor. It's good to hear that it doesn't habe to be another massive long wait!

buzzybee123 · 21/05/2013 19:49

euro when I read your post about shooting I thought you said you had shot most of the men course Grin not outshot them Grin

nooks Grin at getting Cornwall and Cambridge confused

res thinking of you my lovely

motor I thought the travelling would add more stress but I have to say it really didn't, glad Mr M is more positive

twinkle fingers crossed for good results tomorrow

my stats are

me fabulous and 40, Barry 39 TTC since April 11, mc @ 6 weeks in June 11, mc @10 weeks in October 2011, diagnosed with high nk cells. Super ovulation x 4, IUI with Super Ovulation x 1 in 2012, DE IVF in May 2013, just got a BFP

wishuponapositive · 21/05/2013 20:31

Ha, thanks for the hilarious replies! They did make me smile. I'm hoping my V jay jay looks gorgeous compared to the Duch of Cornwall but hey, who knows.

Unfortunately, choose a clinic wasn't an opti

chocoloco1 · 21/05/2013 22:40

wish not sure if we've 'met' but my consultant is also the Duchess of Cornwall's gynaecologist! Are you London or Dorchester? I've done 2 cycles and waiting to go again in July. Haven't exactly been successful yet, but had a m/c from 2nd cycle. Happy to share any info you might want Smile

euro sorry to hear you've had a bit of a setback and hope you can soon get going when you get the results back

buzzy congratulations! Fab news Grin

resipsa sorry to hear about your BFN, it's a bloody tough time to get through and it's hard to believe it gets any easier, but it does with time

Hello to everyone else, I'll try to catch up properly tomorrow. Bed is calling!

mejust · 22/05/2013 08:29

hello everyone well finally i can get started and have my first injection tomorrow morning Shock
euro iv had an abnormal smear before borderline but then had a normal result it must be good if the doc said you can go ahead with ivf.hope you feel better soon.
is it me or do you seem to wait a long time to get to this stage then all of a sudden you think bloody hell im actually doing ivf and it happens so quick

life how are you feeling after your injection ?

hi to motor jewcy wish crisp nook
how are you buzz

Lifeasafish · 22/05/2013 08:45

Morning all - in advance apologies if I have missed out mentioning people. What does stand out though is:

Nook - d oof cambs instead of d of corn gives a totally different perspective! How did you confuse that! I was tickled pink by that yesterday ( and did give thought to the tampongate phonecalls Blush )

Someone's gone travelling for IvF? That is a nice touch really as diversion via exploring seems ideal. Good luck.

Thee are quite a fw of us jabbing up this week? Good luck all! I found the first one ok. My DH was supposed to do it but I kept unintentinally brushing his hand away every time he came near me. So I lost patience with myself, grabbed the needle and sunk it in. Whole process from opening equipment to 'did I actually just stab myself' took 10 mins maybe.

He did this mornings which was fine, I think yesterday I needed to be in control as I was nervous how much it would hurt.

I have had a headache since yesterday but it must be because I ran about town like a loon all day. Surely the side effects dont kick in that soon? Ive still got it now.

My activities are not exciting as such - I'm meeting friends, doing chores idea is to go out every other day at minimum. Also I'm going to start yoga again.

Mejust - good luck and I've answered your queries above! I knew someone had asked me those questions Smile

Lifeasafish · 22/05/2013 08:53

Have remembered. Bit more.

Euro - thats an ace idea. We have discussed doing a couple activity but haven't got around to it. We used to do a lot together, but various reasons have meant in the last year we have become moe sedate.

Twinkle - good luck for today.

Oh wait - I read up slightly is the gynae the tampon duchesses or the topshop one? I think I've got confused. I'm being a bit scatty.

jewcy - grout! Quality. Have a great time in czech and good luck!

tametortie · 22/05/2013 10:27

Here is my profile from FF;

TTC since Dec 2006
DH 33- most recent test is normal Me 31- AMH- 4.5 and mild endo and NK cells. booooo.
Beautiful daughter from previous relationship 2003
MMC May 2008 at 9 weeks- awful : (
Lap and dye x 2 with ablation.
Egg Sharing at CRM
~1 IVF EC on June 3rd 2011, 9 eggs, 4 for us, zero fertilisation for us and recipient. Gutted. Sperm/egg binding issue?
~2 ICSI EC 10th October 2011, 13 eggs, 6 for us, 5 injected and 5 fertilised, slow growing 8 cell and 9 cell transferred on day 5. BFN.
Change of clinic to Nurture in Nottingham
3~ICSI EC 13th May 2013 13 eggs, 7 mature and injected, 4 fertilised. ET on day 5- a cavitating morula and a 10 cell. Praying!!

Almost as sad as Fiona's profile. Sad

Well today I am 4dp5dt and I am feeling VERY pre-af. Low tummy ache and grumbling. Feel really moody too.

I predict AF will be here by Friday. That will be 1 week before OTD which is right on track for where I normally get to on an IVF cycle.

So, as I am feeling pissed off, I have gotten pro-active and looked into our next options.

Donor eggs? Czech or Greece? I have spoken to Serum in Greece and am even considering some very strange testing regarding uterine infections, antibiotics for DH to improve sperm, intralipid infusions for NK cells, change in protocol to improve eggs to see if we can avoid donors, testing of thyroid function, blood thinners. We are gonna throw everything at the next go. And strangely, I feel better for having done a bit of planning. But also feeling sad because we are skint and another go will probably involve filling another credit card that we will hope to pay off at some point in the future but probably never will Sad

However, I am also considering a cycle of natural IVF- euro could you tell me how this works and what your experience was? I am wondering if this will give me a better chance of having better eggs?

jewcy are you off on your travels yet? I am excited for you. I have looked on the reprogenesis thread of FF and it sounds good.

nooknook I am a repeat IVF'er. Very depressing....

euro Also feeling for you with the vinegar fanny. Sore.

EuroShaggleton · 22/05/2013 11:08

tame I had the menstrual blood testing through serum. It threw up two positives but both things that the majority of the medical profession don't think affect fertility, so we have done nothing about it. Everything else came back normal.

Natural IVF just uses the egg you produce naturally each month (so you need to ovulate by yourself). You have a few monitoring scans to track the growth of the follie to time EC and then a trigger shot, as with normal IVF. ET will always be day 2 (at least at my clinic) as there is only ever a max of one embie. And then it's the 2ww with fanny candles, much like normal IVF. I found it pretty easy and low stress (apart from EC, because I flip out about being put under) - 4 scans, one blood test and that was it.

OP posts:
tametortie · 22/05/2013 11:33

That's the one- with the menstrual blood.

Have got to say, I sent off the medical questionnaire to serum and the info they emailed me back with 4 hours later was IMMENSE....

Feeling hope again.....
