Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

BUNNY, WHERE ARE YOU!!!! Are you still spotting then??????????? FF is fab at detecting all sorts, so you only had 1 dip!!!

bunny2 · 18/02/2004 10:13

Hellooo, cant bear to test today, want to hang on to some hope for a while longer. Will test tomorrow if spotting hasnt turned into af.

Jellycat, seeds are good sources of the EFAs. I have been eating lots of sunflower seeds. Also, soya products (organic) are very good for womens normones and pre/early pregnancy. I'll look it up in my book and let you know more. I tried soya milk in my coffeee this morning but it was horrible and went down the sink. I do like soys as a meat substitute though so shall eat more of it.

BigBird · 18/02/2004 10:17

Bunny - what form are you taking the fish oils. Are you taking eye-Q capsules or similar ?

Fir play to you for holding out !

bunny2 · 18/02/2004 10:17

Quacks, on FF, my cover line is 35.96. I dont know how they worked out that one as most of my pre-ov temps are above that line as well as the post ov ones. Did yours make sense to you?

crossfingers · 18/02/2004 11:51

Azure, haven't posted again as I have bought another test but not yet tested to see if the initial test was confirmed. Feel slightly guilty for posting on this thread as hadn't posted before, but just felt excited having waited for what seemed like ages. Sorry I'm not on your spreadsheet! Know what you mean about being a pensioner before DS/DD graduates - I'm 38, which is just one year younger than Caroline Quentin's mid-life crisis sufferer on Life Begins (surely she must be older????). And at one stage I began to wonder whether all this worrying and peeing on sticks was really worth it and felt horribly fed up - and didn't expect it this cycle as hadn't had any of the "signs" of ovulation at all. Will tell you if my second test confirms (or not...)

Mum2Ela · 18/02/2004 11:55

Ooh, is there a spreadsheet? I really must catch up!

Crossfingers - when are you going to test again?

OP posts:
Azure · 18/02/2004 11:55

Crossfingers - I'm really pleased you've posted again. Everyone is welcome on this thread, especially if there is good news! When are you going to test again? Keep us posted.

Mum2Ela · 18/02/2004 12:01

Bunny2 - fingers crossed for you! Also a quetsion for you - I have a 'feeling' I am not ovulating or ovulating late in my cycle. Also am very irreguler. My doc sia doy umust be ttc for 2 years before they will do nay testing. I have bought a BBT so next cycle I will start charting. Do you think if I take some 'evidence' with me to docs they have do a couple of tests to see if I am ovulating, before the 2 year period is up? Thats a heck of a long time!!

OP posts:
Mum2Ela · 18/02/2004 12:05

should read 'doc said you must' not the gibberish I wrote!

Azure · 18/02/2004 12:07

Mum2Ela, yes I am the sad one who is keeping a spreadsheet - and you are on it (CD 43 today - is that right??). Please anyone tell me if you object to this and I'll delete it - I was finding it hard to keep track of who was due when. After you and of course BeckiF, it seems that Ermentrude, Jellycat and Bunny2 are approaching the end of their cycles - positive wishes to you all.

Mum2Ela · 18/02/2004 12:41

Azure - how sad I am to be excited to be on your s-sheet. Yep, day 43 today. Crappy cycles!!

just catching up after a few days away - I'm visiting family right now and have snuck away to a computer.....
My brother and his wife told me last night that they were expecting a baby in September and as soon as they told me I was trying so very hard to keep the tears at bay. Didn't last though and I cried in front of them and my parents. Thought it was terribly selfish at the time but I don't think so now. They have no idea how I feel - brother even asking how I dealt with morning sickness and when I started feeling better and when I told people - was that for my first pregnancy, second , third or forth? Was so upset last night and it's kind of put a damper on our trip over here. Wondering if it would have been better to know just before I go home or was actually at home? Now just waiting for my sister to tell me she's expecting too.
Wish this was a happier note

Hoping to see some happy news from some of you in the next few days.....will log on later to find out! AF is due sometime next week for me and I don't have any strong vibes that I am.
Chacha - did you find any answers to your questions? And Bunny - if I prayed - I'd be praying that you get a BFP very soon! That would be such wonderful news to hear.I am going to buy a BBT later today ( had been using an ordinary one up until now)
hana

Quackers · 18/02/2004 13:57

Bunny, yes I did have some odd temps before ov, but the tiniest thing can make it fluctuate. I trust FF to get it right though. You have to fulfill certain things to triger their software to say you've ov, not ov'd etc... What CD are you now then and what day did you ov? I'm just pleased you seem to have ov'd and that Doctor was entirely wrong!!!
Mum2ela, you'll know for yourself if you;re ov'g by taking your temps and if you have say 3 cycles of anovulation I would go to your GP and show them. I thought it was a year and then they'll help you. Maybe a different GP would be happy to help you then!

BigBird · 18/02/2004 14:25

oh Hana....you poor thing. I hope you get through this visit.

Mum2Ela - my GP started doing some basic blood tests for me after about 8mths. Def do the charting for a few mths and go and insist on some basic tests (day 3 and day 21 bloods and your DH/DP's S.A. test).

jellycat · 18/02/2004 14:26

hana, sending you a big cyberhug. I nearly cried too when I read your post, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad and I totally understand your feelings. It's perfectly natural to be upset, not selfish at all xxx

I'll log on again later folks, rather busy right now. No AF yet but I can feel it coming .

bunny2 · 18/02/2004 14:30

Heloo.

Quacks, I'm CD28. Still spotting . I dont think anything could survive in there with all the bleed
ing.

Hana, that was so insensitive of your brother. Hugs to you. Strangely enough I saw my brother too at the weekend and ended up in tears talking about my miscarriages. I think he and SIL were shocked that the feelings were still so strong. I'm glad you are back here on MN.

Bigbird, I am taking .

Seven Seas Pulse pure fish oils. They are fine if gulped down with loads of water.

Mum2Ela, I think 2 years is heck of a long time to wait for investigations. Charting will certainly give you a good idea of whether or not you are ovulating so it is worth doing for a couple of months and taking some evidence along to your gp. I would also consider seeing another gp. My surgery did investigations after 6 months, you might find another gp would be more sympathetic. There are also steps you could take to help kickstat ovulation if necessary. Agnus Castus (sp?) is a herb that is well-known for helping women regulate their cycles. Vitamin B6 apparenlty also helps. You could do some googling and see what comes up.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes everyone. Lets hope some of us can announce some good news soon. XX

bunny2 · 18/02/2004 14:30

sorry about the big gaps!

Mum2Ela · 18/02/2004 14:31

Thanks Quackers and Bigbird. I think I will do the charting for a couple of months (if damn AF ever turns up1) and see how it goes. Only think I may be not ov'ing / ov'ing late as when I used OPK's for a month over Christmas it didn't pick up any sign of ov'ing, but have been checking CM also which I only seem toget just over a week before AF! Am sooo confused!

OP posts:
Azure · 18/02/2004 15:01

Hana - big cyber hugs. I'm sure your db and sil didn't mean to upset you, but people can be so insensitive.

Mum2Ela · 18/02/2004 15:08

Sorry, just realised I have missed a page of reading on this thread.

Hana - So sorry, you must be feeling really crap at the moment. It must be hard for you when it seems like everyone else around you is getting pg so quickly and easily. Keep your chin up - we are here for support. x

Bunny2 - thanks for the advice. I will do some googling on Agnus thingamy and also vit B6.

Quick q - my neighbour who is a midwife suggested I go back on the pill for a month as this would force me to ov. Does anyone know if this is true?

OP posts:
Quackers · 18/02/2004 16:16

Me too, just seen your message Hana. It's really tough finding out other people are pg, even close pg after your losses. It just doesn't go away does it until you are pg yourself. Big hugs sweetheart.xxxx
Bunny, we'll just have to see then chuck. I bet you;re just pleased you ov'd though!!!!!
Mum2ela, they say that the pill can help kickstart your ovulatory cycle but sometimes you feel like there's so many hormones being pumped into your body. Also, you want a baby and it;s hard to take a step back to feel like your going forwards. I would defo see another Doc and ask for Clomid maybe. That has a 80% chance of stimulating your ovaries. My GP gave it after one annovulatiry cycle which wasn't good really but an understanding GP should certainly let you try it. Good luck xxx

Quackers · 18/02/2004 16:17

Sorry Hana, that sould hae read 'even close family'

ChaCha · 18/02/2004 18:29

Hana, know how you feel and Quackers is right, it probably doesnt go away until we are pg ourselves, but i must admit, i am getting stronger. Fingers crossed x

Bunny, how are you feeling?

Question girls, if Doc told me ovulation is CD13 and i got a positive (OPK) on CD13 then i on CD16 today am just DPO4 right? Would there be any signs at this early stage. Oh Oh..think i will be going through the phantom pregnancy symptoms, grrrr!

Thanks girls

ChaCha · 18/02/2004 18:30

Whoops, i meant i got a positive on CD11. Sorry.

Moomin · 18/02/2004 19:11

Hello everyone. Sorry didn't get round to doing the nutrition thread yet - have been away since Saturday, having a fab time in Amsterdam.

Dh's b'day today in both senses of the word - his birthday and a BD-day!! So need to go and spend some quality time with him but promise to post when the footie's on, seeing as it's only a friendly.
for all those who've got AF.
XX for those who are still waiting to hear...
See you later
