Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

Thanks for all your support. I never, ever realised how devastating having a m/c was. I have also had such feelings of regret for not TTC #2 earlier - I want DS to have a brother/sister NOW. Time seems to have disappeared into a black hole since he was born. But this is not creating the happy, babydust vibe needed on this new thread - so come on girls, get producing!

hana · 26/01/2004 13:50

Azure - we all do that - we went away shortly after my m/c in October without dd and of course I too had great hopes that I would be become pregnant! Even convinced myself that I would be one of those women who got pregnant without having a period after a m/c and when it arrived, what a blow it was. Men aren't the same as women and it's probably good that they can stay positive and perhaps bring different thoughts and emotions about ttc, loss and the ups and downs along the way. Every month when af arrives it's going to be tough.
Lots of us here and well, we KNOW.
love hana

jellycat · 26/01/2004 13:54

Azure, sorry to hear you've been feeling down, but try not to be hard on yourself. My first pg ended in a m/c and it really took me a long time to start feeling better - and I had lots of ups and downs. My dh, like pollingfold's, really couldn't understand why I was so depressed - he felt very optimistic about our chances of conceiving again and having a successful pregnancy, and he was right too. His positive outlook was hard to cope with though - I really felt he was trying to deny my feelings IYSWIM.

I totally agree with fisil about the fantasy thing - I find it just sets me up for a huge down when AF arrives (I also felt this in my second pg - I really tried to take one day at a time, rather than imagining myself with a baby at the end of it, and I think it really helped me through the first few weeks when I was so anxious).

I hope that helps. You are not alone!

valleygirl · 26/01/2004 14:28

'scuse my ignorance but what is "BD'ing" and what is "AF"?
I'm 32, TTC baby no.1 - have 2 step kids, so play at being mum regularly!
this weekend was fertile time - never thought i'd ever see the time i'd be having sex specifically to get preganant. Have just started trying after discovering that BF's vasectomy reversal was successful!!
lets see what happens in 2 week's time! am also trying to find a new job - possibly not the best time to also be thinking of getting pregnant. Anyone know what thre law says about having to tell a new employer about being pregnant at time of being offered a job?

Moomin · 26/01/2004 15:55

BDing = baby Dancing (i.e. shagging!)
AF = Aunt Flo (period)
It's like being in the 5th year again, isn't it?!

pollingfold · 26/01/2004 16:04

You don't need to tell them about your family plans, in fact its illegal for them to ask you any questions about your ideas for family, since this could be construed as giving rise to discrimination (say compared to someone who wasn't thinking about having kids)

What you should consider is the financial impact of moving - it maybe that you lose some of your maternity rights that you may have now(those above the statutory maternity pay of £100 pw).

Good luck with all the BD'ing

willow2 · 26/01/2004 17:00

I am sure this has been posted somewhere - but there are so many threads that I thought I'd ask anyway... does anyone know what the "acceptable" levels of oestrogen, fsh and lh are throughout your cycle - and also how long each of the three phases last?

bunny2 · 26/01/2004 21:31

Hellooo, found you all! I've been away for a few days with no internet. Good to be back.

Me TTC #2 for ages.
1 ds, nearly 4
2 m/cs since 2001, now not ovulating

I have just taken my 4th clomid pill (it worked for me last time) so ... this time next week I'll be bding for England!

Good to have some new people here, loads of luck to us all.

Azure · 27/01/2004 09:39

Bunny2, I'm pleased to see you on the thread. I don't know anything about clomid, but I hope it works for you again. I have been very proactive, dug out my Persona and spent my Christmas bonus on the two packs of test sticks needed for this month. I conceived the first month of using Persona last time (though think it was a coincidence), so fingers crossed.

Quackers · 27/01/2004 09:44

Glad you got going on the Clomid Bunny!!!! I'm really keeping my fingers crossed! Any side effects this time???? get BD'g!!!
Willow, don't know if this helps. I did have a table but can't find it! here link won't work - sorry!
I just know a continually high FSH means nearing menopause.
HTH

bunny2 · 28/01/2004 21:53

Hello, have taken all 5 clomid pills and no side effects. Fingers crossed ...

fisil · 28/01/2004 21:59

what is clomid?

hana · 28/01/2004 22:06

I think it is a pill/drug that helps to regulate ovulation? Bunny will correct me on that! Is that good news Bunny that you've had no side effects? Fingers and all else crossed..........

fisil · 28/01/2004 22:10

Good luck with them bunny2!

I've been using Eyelash's ovulation testing sticks. Arrived home last night after massive 12 1/2 stint at work, felt duty bound to do the old pissy stick, and there is was, loud and clear "you must shag tonight however tired you are." So, what could we do?

bunny2 · 28/01/2004 22:39

A bit more enthusiasm please Fisil!

Hana is right, clomid is the most common fertility drug. It is taken on days 2-6 of a cycle and triggers the body to ovulate. It is good for women like me who dont seem to ovualte or who do so irregularly. Last time I got pg on the second month of clomid.

Hi Hana, my blood tests came back neg so my Cons doesnt think I have antiphospholipid syndrome but I am still taking vitamin E, justin case. How are you?

BeckiF · 29/01/2004 09:39

I did several courses of Clomind about 8 years ago and even though I got AF the blood test showed I hadn't ovulated!

jellycat · 29/01/2004 10:04

Hello everyone and Happy Birthday fisil .

Azure, I have a Persona too. This will be my first month of using it. So, lots of weeing on sticks - hope it works. Do you know how long before you ovulate the `O' symbol appears?

Quackers · 29/01/2004 10:51

Good luck again Bunny!!! Thinking of you!

The 'o' symbol appears about 24-36 hours before you ovulate so getting moving and get BD'g!!!!!! This is the optimum time to do it and try tomorrow too if you can!!!

Azure · 29/01/2004 10:56

Jellycat - word of warning, I didn't get an "o" when I used it before, but still managed to concieve. It doesn't always show in the first cycle. I did get a second blue line on the stick, though, which I think indicates ovulation, although it doesn't say so in the booklet. Quackers, is that right about a second line? I'm on day 6, so had to test this morning. Also, every day from day 6 was red last time around.

jellycat · 29/01/2004 11:50

Thanks Quackers and Azure. Quackers - don't get excited, the symbol hasn't appeared yet! On day 9 at the moment. Just one blue line on the stick when I tested. I was just wondering, that's all!

Hi again! Yes you're right Azure, sometimes Persona takes a couple of months to give an O symbol. But if you watch the pissy sticks there will be the 2 lines. They start quite faint if I remember rightly and then get stronger. Wish you luck for when you do get your O!!! I'll get excited then!

jellycat · 29/01/2004 14:27

fisil, I conceived ds 3 days before my b'day so I am sending b'day baby dust your way!

OK Quackers, I'll let you know, so you can get excited!!

ermentrude · 29/01/2004 15:39

My thermometer arrived today but it all looks very confusing. Is there anywhere online where I can just type in my temperature and it will create the graph for me. And then tell me when to get at it?!

Do I have to wait until the first day of AF?

bluestar · 29/01/2004 15:51

www.fertilityfriend.com will plot your graph for you and you get a month's free trial of the VIP features.
