Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

OP posts:
ermentrude · 15/02/2004 18:27

Forgot to mention that the spotting is pink/red and not dark coloured as is normal at this point in cycle
Am I getting excited for nothing?

crossfingers · 15/02/2004 18:42

ooh - what's the opinion girls on really faint positive lines on Boots First Response tests???? Just tested 3 days before period due and got VERY faint second line??? Could this be it?

Thanks Harman - yes I am, but a wee bit nervous at this stage. Have been trying for about 6 mths and getting to the fed up stage - so hopefully this is it!!

ChaCha · 15/02/2004 18:55

Bunny, Jellycat, Quackers, hana...where are you all. Pls read my post..

eyelash · 15/02/2004 19:07

Cross fingers - looks like congratulations are in order. Are you going to reveal who you are yet?

ChaCha, I've used Clearblue OPKs but not with a great deal of success! I had trouble interpreting the results and also tsting at the right time. I now use Persona.

However, I think it sounds like you BD'ed at the right times. You say you BD'ed in the morning and the evening on the day you got a positive with the OPKs? Well, the OPK turns positive somewhere between 24 and 48 hours before you ovulate. So you probably ovulated over the weekend. In theory, you can get pg if you BD any time from about 5 days before ovulation to about 12 hours after the egg is released (some sources say the egg can live for a bit longer than that, but no more than about 24 hours - it dies quite quickly if not fertilised whereas sperm can be quite long-lived). So your BDs were within that time frame. And you used the pillow as well - what more could your dh's little wrigglers ask for!

So now you start the hard bit - waiting! Somehow 2 weeks can seem like aeons (sp?) when you're ttc.

crossfingers - sounds like this is it. Keep us posted!

ermentrude - did you do a test?

ermentrude · 15/02/2004 19:24

I have not tested as AF is quite irregular.

Will give it afew more days though. My gut reaction is that I am NOT pregnant though.

bunny2 · 15/02/2004 20:40

Hi everyone

ChaCha, sorry it has taken a while to get back to you, we were away yesterday. It sounds as if you caught your surge in time. Now you just have to hope those little blighters swim the right way and find an egg! Good luck, the waiting is the hard part as Jellycat says. Are you CD13 now?

Crossfinger, good luck.

Ermentrude, the spotting is a nightmare, I've had it too. I can mean so many things or nothing at all. Could it be an ov bleed or implantation bleed? What cd are you on?

Slink, sorry you feel so low. I have never got a positive with the first test - all 3 pregnancies have given me negative tests reults before a pos so dont give up just yet, there is hope.

I had a cry yesterday after my post-ov temperatures dropped 2 days running (apparently they should stay high till af). So I have given up on this cycle now

Quackers · 15/02/2004 21:09

Bunny, hold off until tommorow at least. See what your temp is then. Just as you need 3 days to confirm ov, I would give 3 days to confirm if there's not. How many days of temp rises did you have?? Loads of things can make your temp drop. I know the frustration this causes though. Take care, let me know!x

Quackers · 15/02/2004 21:12

Cha Cha, hope you got your answer. You certainly have given it your best shot and you could do no more than you have done. You can see why people take a little while to get pg though given that there's only a 20-25% chance each cycle!! keeping everything crossed for you!!
Ermentrude, good luck too!!
Crossfingers - is that you Bigbird?????

bunny2 · 15/02/2004 21:26

Hi Quacks, how are you? Are you in maternity gear now? This charting lark is doing my head in! I had rise 2 days after a positive OPK, temps stayed above cover line for 5 days then dropped, dropped a bit further the next day. Now, today they have risen a little but are still below the cover line. I think I have low progesterone. What d'ya think? Hugs to you and your bump. Bxxx

jellycat · 15/02/2004 22:25

Hi bunny, sorry you're feeling a bit low. If you need a cry there's nothing wrong with that. Re the temps, I've seen lots of non-textbook charts on fertility friend so you never know.

ChaCha · 15/02/2004 23:11

Thankyou soooo, soooo much for all your replies. They have made a world of difference. Guess all i can do now is sit and wait. Oh, this is really the hard part.

Tomorrow is CD14. By they way, i had no CM over the weekend. I read that you are supposed to have a certain CM when ovulating. The OPK indicated i was but no CM. Is that because of the clomid like medication?

Baby dust to you all, Bunny - how are you? Whats going on with ur temps? x

Azure · 16/02/2004 09:00

Good morning ladies. Futurity sorry to hear your news but glad you're sounding upbeat. Crossfingers (whoever you are) Congratulations ! More details please. Best of luck to everyone waiting to test.

Azure · 16/02/2004 09:05

Crossfingers - are you Jellycat??? Apologies to both of you if I'm wrong.

jellycat · 16/02/2004 09:29

Azure, crossfingers isn't me! She must be my cycle buddy though because I'm expecting AF on Wednesday. Don't think I'm pg though, so I won't waste a test unless it doesn't arrive by Thurs or Fri. Your spreadsheet is very clever isn't it! I think crossfingers may be someone who hasn't been posting on here regularly, hope she reveals herself soon!

Azure · 16/02/2004 09:31

Rats, I thought my spreadsheet had enabled me to work it out!!!

PandaBear · 16/02/2004 09:40

Crossfingers - sounds positive to me!! Slinks, sorry to hear you're feeling blue, don't give up hope yet though, with my first pg I had a negative test, but still no AF a week later so took another one and it was +ve! It's tough playing the waiting game though isn't it?

BigBird · 16/02/2004 09:47

Quacks - no i'm not crossfingers. Wish I was though
i'm on the 15th ttc cycle now...wow time flies!

Did reflexology at the weekend - I quite liked it ! Have been reading a bit about acupuncture too. Might have a go at that too.
Moomin - were you going to start a thread on nutrition etc ?? Would be very interested to hear what advice you have received.

Quackers · 16/02/2004 10:17

Hey BB! Glad it went well, I was hoping it was you!! When is your appointment - I think it's soon isn't it???
Bunny, d'you know what I would do. Go and log onto Fertility Freind if you haven't already and input ALL your temps. There software is VERY sensitive and will tell you for sure if it thinks you've ov'd. There are some unusual charts on there are jellycat says and you can search I think by inputting 'on Clomid'. It's possible about the progesterone, could be why they are a little lower, but I would keep collecting evidence despite it being a pain in the backside to show your Doc/consultant and they may well give you progesterone. I really don't know though as you have carried a baby already, so your body must know to produce it in the right quantities to maintain a pgcy.xxx

BigBird · 16/02/2004 14:03

middle of next month quacks. so one chance left before then ! thanks for thinking of me !! I hope you are doing really well....

Slink · 16/02/2004 18:25
