Me first this time. Smile

It may only be May 4th, but I'm out for this month (although technically AF due 30th May - I just like starting new threads).

Lucyb9384 · 26/05/2006 12:22

hi, hope no one minds me joining the thread!!. been ttc and am on CD 22 and having some different symptoms but not sure perhaps i am making myself have these symptoms by hoping / thinking so hard that i want to be pg. Doesn't waiting just drive you mad, need to keep busy to keep my mind off it - how soon before af can you do a test?

babydriver · 26/05/2006 12:24

Great stuff since I last posted. LOLaughs. DHs eh? - who'd have 'em... No chance of heading towards twigletdom for me for a while - off on our hols to France end next week and I will definitely be sampling local fare extensively - and with no holds barred to begin with if AF comes this weekend.

BTW hopecat, the homeopath gave me thuja to take between af and ov as that's what she thought would suit my 'constitution'. Don't know if it works but it's worth a go I figure. Some studies seem to show a positive link between homeopathy and fertility and also preventing miscarriage. Same goes for acupuncture but I haven't been brave/desperate enough for that.

coggy · 26/05/2006 15:33

No chance of me ever getting a link to the twiglet zone at this rate baby driver!!!

Pussycat - I'm sorry but I've tried and now you'll have to find your own way into the zone!!!
(Thread title - 100 days to become a twiglet!) but actually at this rate it may be 150 days instead!!! Shock

Lucyb - glad you found us. Welcome :)

TuttiFrutti · 26/05/2006 16:05

Welcome, lucyb!

My ov stick says it's all happening today so dh will be in for a busy weekend (he doesn't know it yet...)

Your dhs sound like a naughty lot, make mine look quite saintly in comparison.

peachygirl · 26/05/2006 16:35

Hi all, thought i'd drop by as i'm goingaway at the weekend for a few days. Currently day 12 for me.
I've not had the yellow light on my persona machine yet, starting to get a bit worried. I oved very late last month and hope it doesn't get missed again.
Good luck all
\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1366&threadid=168120&stamp=060525115152\ 100days} coggy here's your link

wannaBe1974 · 26/05/2006 17:02

hiya all :)

can I drop in?

Coggy will definitely be joining your twiglet thread also, it needs to be done! I was so good a while back, we have a cross trainer in the garage and I went on it religiously every day and then ... the period was late and ... the rest, as they say, is history, lol.

Lol at your dh pussycat, my dh didn't actually even have a stag night, so no strip clubs for him either.
Lucy welcome, try not to read too much into simptoms, it's very easy to imagine yourself as being pg, but imo it's best not to as the disappointment is that much worse if you've convinced yourself that you are.

Well I had my blood results back from gp yesterday ... er ... i think it was yesterday, lol. Anyway my thyroid function is normal so .. who knows what's up. will be going back to see if I can get a referral to try and get to the bottom of A why I'm not pg after a year of trying, and B why my cycle last few weeks was so screwed.

peachygirl · 26/05/2006 17:06

Hi wannabe, haven't seen you around,
I have to go to get Dh in minute but its good to see you. saw your post on the other thread and have to admit i thought of your situation How are you generally, how's the dog settling in?

wannaBe1974 · 26/05/2006 17:20

hiya peachy :)

not doing too badly, the dog is settling in ok, another week before he will be totally qualified, then I can venture out into the world with a dog and without the shaddow that is the dog trainer! He's a lovely dog though, but seems to like chasing my cats. ah well, he'll get beaten up at some point and then he'll learn.

coggy · 26/05/2006 19:21

Oh thanks Peachy - you are soooooooooooo clever and I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo rubbish!!
Why can't I do it???!!!! Blush

Please join us on our quest for twiglet-ness WannaBe. I find that I am usually good for the first two weeks and then don't want to risk any exercise in case of pg. Been using that excuse for years so thought it was about time I got a grip!!
Did well for 20 days and then had AF arriving for a week and totally lost the plot!

After this week (away for half term hols) we should pick a day of the week and have it as a 'weigh-in', confession day or whatever....that night keep me on the straight and narrow!

You never know!!! Grin

Hopecat · 26/05/2006 19:31

Hello! Welcome Lucy: you can test any time from the day your AF is due, but the longer you can leave it the more likely you are to get an accurate result and save yourself some heartache.

1-2 weeks ideally (Yeah right).

Coggy, I don't wish to sound annoying and saintly, but I'm trying to twiglet as of now. I'm most self-concious about the jeans situation, and I must remedy it immediately.

I weigh myself on Mondays, but this week I'll do it on a Tuesday due to Bank Hol.

Anyway, am hikacking thread. BAD.

CD24 for me today. Am trying not to think about it.

Good luck with your diagnosis Wannabe.

coggy · 26/05/2006 20:26

Hey Saint Hope......seriously - good for you.
I'm actually not quite sure how I've fallen off the band waggon so I don't want to stop anyone else!!

I will start with avengence after half term - you carry on!!
I too will make Mondays my weighing day.
Have a good half term break.
X

maazaa · 27/05/2006 14:40

Hey Ladies......been a funny week, very busy with work and a few social activities, but little bd. DH has been off work studying and taking exams and has been a nightmare to live with. Exams all over Thursday and then he's off on a blooming stag do (my sympathies Gemma!) and a mate comes to stay before leaving on Friday.
Felt really tearful. Have been really wifey - looking after him and then he buggers off for the weekend and we have wasted the best time in the month. Bluuuuubbbbbb! :(

So on my tod for the weekend. And rather than trying to join the twiglet club, I am just chain eating them and planning a chinese tonight with the tv. What can I eat next - someone save me from my comfort eating hell!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hopecat · 27/05/2006 14:54

Hey Maazaa - sorry to hear you're feeling so glum. What is it with all these DHs going away at the essential time?

Enjoy your takeaway.

Top tip: jaffa cakes are really low fat. If you're desperate for a binge, buy a pack of twelve. (Good damage limitation).

CD25 today. Went doggy-walking with DH and I told him that I can't actually believe that we'll ever get PG. It just seems so far away and unreal. I can't believe that life is going to be that kind. Know it's horribly negative, but it has been such a long-haul, and I was SO sure last month then...nothing.

Feel really flat. Maybe it's the weather.

Coggy: glad you're going to have the same weigh-day as me. It'll inspire me to get off my bum.

OP posts:
maazaa · 27/05/2006 15:03

I'm sure the weather doesn't help but it is so frustrating knowing people just "accidentally" get pg and people who try, are at it for ages. June has got to be a good month for you. TBH I don't expect it as we are so new to trying, this is only the second month, but I'm not a patient person by nature and once I want something, I want it now!!!! And it doesn't help when he disappears!! I have resigned myself to a duvet and Diagnosis Murder (don't ask.. Blush)

Jaffa cakes are a good plan. My salt/savoury urges are more frequent - any ideas? Rice cakes are supposed to be ok, but a bit like eating polystyrene packing.

Hopecat · 27/05/2006 15:07

Japanese rice-crackers are much more satisfying. BBQ flavour snackajacks are ok. (Both options full of additives though).

If you're really intent on having a good comfort eat and it's just a one-off I'd enjoy it if I were you.

Thanks for saying that June will be good for me. I know it's irrational, but it makes me feel more hopeful. Which has to be good! Smile

Which CD are you on?

OP posts:
maazaa · 27/05/2006 15:14

I think you are right - will just have a bit of a pig out today.

I am on day 17. Had a bit of ovary ache on day 15.

How long have you been trying all together?

Hopecat · 27/05/2006 15:22

DH started having fertility treatment in January 2005, so since then really. Although we had to wait several months to get the treatment started as well.

DH had a sperm test in Feb '06, and we were told that we now had a really good chance. However, they won't keep him on the treatment indefinitely as it's really expensive. Basically, if we're not PG by December I think they'll probably take the funding away, and we'll be screwed. Can't afford to pay for it ourselves. So we don't even have the 'keep trying' option.

Just seems to be going on forever, and in the meantime my friends are just popping them out one after the other like it's no big deal. Hopefully you'll be one of those Maazaa!

Have to try and stay positive, and I am generally an optimist, but it's becoming more difficult as I get one AF after another.

OP posts:
Hopecat · 27/05/2006 15:28

Got to run - DH dragging me to PC World. Boo.

Bye!

OP posts:
maazaa · 27/05/2006 15:39

Hmmmm....well, I don't know an awful lot and don't want to sound patronising trying to make you feel better without any real knowledge, but...

  1. Would it help to imagine you've been trying since Feb 06, as that is the date when you got positive news from DH sperm count? The first year could have been preparation, ready to start with all guns blazing...Maybe that is unrealistic?
  2. My cousin took a year to conceive and her GP said he would not consider testing either her or hubbie for anything until 2 years were up as it takes that long more often than not. If GPs are saying this, it must mean there are so many people in the same boat. Unfortunately, it just feels like the world and his wife are having a baby!!!
  3. The Spring/Summer lifts our spirits as well as our bodies and with the good news from your Feb appointment, gives you a better chance than in cold, miserable and grey winter.
  4. I'm a great believer in positive thinking (except this weekend!). Maybe you should write it down like Noel Edmonds did and do a bit of Cosmic Ordering. I'm not into mumbo jumbo, "new age" stuff, but I'm sure there we have lots of untapped power. Am rambling now....

You sound like such a positive person and so caring of others - it has to come back for you eventually.

maazaa · 27/05/2006 15:39

Take care x

wannaBe1974 · 27/05/2006 16:53

Hiya all :)

HC agree with Maaza - try to think as only having really been trying since Feb 2006, as thinking of trying for over a year only makes it sound worse and more hopeless, when in actual fact, you've only been trying for three months with a sperm count you know has been up to the job. If I were you though I would go and see your gp and get blood tests etc done to make sure everything is ok with you, because you both need to be in optimum condition to conceive, and if your pct are going to withdraw your funding in December your time is limited and your gp should understand and sympathise with that.

I know all too well the feeling that you're never going to get pregnant, it's an all-consuming feeling that can take away everything you have to feel positive about, but you have to try and stay positive, you currently have the medicl profession on your side, and hopefully your DH's sperm will come through for you soon.

I know I'm not exactly the best person to be giving advice on staying positive, considering we're giving up now and I'm actually on the verge of putting all my baby clothes/toys/furniture up for sale on ebay, but remember that there are lots of positive stories on here from people who have been trying for a while, and who have been through hell and back to get that baby they so desperately want.

keep smiling x

Hopecat · 27/05/2006 18:02

Maazaa and Wannabe - thanks for your kind words. I do think of it from Feb '06 really - only he started producing sperm back in about June 2005, so I've done the odd HPT since then. ("the odd' meaning hundreds, obviously).

I really hope you're both right and I do try and think positive. Most days I manage it, but when I've got too much time on my hands (i.e. Bank Holidays) it's harder.

Will go and chill.

Wannabe - sorry to hear you've made that decision. How are you feeling about it now? Would you consider going to counselling?
