9 days late for AF but 2 x BFN. Anyone else been through this?

I am now 9 days late but have no BFP Sad
I did a pg test early morning on 3rd Jan = BFN. I then did a second pg rest after work on 4th = BFN. Both tests were 'first response - 6 days earlier'.
I'm now very confused and worried. Really thought I was pg but now not so sure.
I have no AF symptoms either. Very tired and struggling to concentrate, bloated stomach, occasional cramping and have been peeing quite a bit. Have felt a teensy bit queasy occasionally but why the BFN?
Has anyone been through this and got a BFP eventually?

Hi all - in some way it's great to hear that this happens often, at least we're not alone! purple still no AF and no symptoms and I tested again last week, just out of curiosity really cos I received my Internet cheapie inte post! Have resigned myself to the fact it's not coming and I'm not pg.. The annoying thing is that I've no idea if and when I'll ovulate. Thinking about buying an ov kit, but I really didn't want to go down that road so early in to TTC as I'm worried I'll get obsessive about it!

Good luck to you all who are waiting anxiously! Thanks

I think the cycle prior to conceiving was normal. The stress at work was pretty much the duration of 3 weeks after that last AF.

Can really sympathise with you all - I too spent a fortune on tests and convinced myself I was having a phantom pg!

I remember eventually coming home from work one day and my nipples were really chaffed and sore! That was when I knew without the a test that I was pg. I went and bought an expensive digital test and saved it for the next morning when I finally got BFP!

Good luck everyone! I hope to try for DC2 later in the year - hope I don't experience the waiting game again!

Also, keep getting stabbing pains under ribs just after eating a meal when I breath in or out deeply - a sign or just odd?

Thanks mrsstewpot for the positive story. Funnily enough my OV pain wasn't as strong as it normally is the weekend I thought I ovulated and I was getting a lot of OV symptoms 2 weeks ago, so hoping I ovulated late (even if not PG) as late ovulation is better than none at all.

I tested last night and another BFN. Still getting random lower back pain and intermittantly burning nipples, though, which I've never had before and aren't normal for me pre-AF. Still, trying to set my hopes aside now as I don't want more disappointment.

Girafferama, I know what you mean about OV kits. I've heard good things about the fertility monitor but I just don't want TTC taking over our whole life.

Hello everyone. Well I'm now 10 or 11 days late. Strange feeling in my stomach that takes my breath away at times. Last night had a few bits of, what I think was, heartburn - really painful after dinner. No signs of AF at all. Still needing to pee a lot despite not drinking enough. Creamy white cm continues. Every night I.am.having vivid dreams and keep waking up. Tired as hell and very easily upset by ANYTHING! Gosh this is fun isn't it. Oh I forgot to mention the persistent wind Sad
This will all be worth it if I eventually get my BFP.

Bluefreckles, I got heartburn last night, too! Vivid dreams are pretty normal for me to be honest (always had an overactive imagination) but the annoying thing is I keep dreaming about pregnancy and then being disappointed in the morning.

I really hope we get a BFP on this thread!

hey fairies! I have never had heartburn before. I just keep reading what mrsstewpot said and taking hope from that. I haven't tested since doing a test first thing on the 3rd Jan and one after work on 4th. Terrified to test now

Sounds hopeful blue, a lot of people say dreams are a pregnancy symptom, fingers crossed. Looking back at my monthly symptoms (I have an app I use to track them) I may have ov'ed Christmas day, so as its now just over 2 weeks I'm going to test again tomorrow/Friday I think, though I'm also a bit scared! I'm like you, still no AF, but knackered and feeling faint and tired all the time!

Hello! Just joined and this is my first post.

Bluefreckles - I'm in exactly the same situation as you. Came off pill last March and pretty regular periods since then. Last period was on 30 Nov and was I due the next on 31 December. Now I'm 9 days late. I tested on 6 and 8 Jan, both negative. I'm trying to decide how long to wait before booking a GP appointment, complicated by the fact I'm going on holiday next week. I think it's unlikely I'd be pregnant as dtd and ovulation were both long ago so I'd imagine it would show up on a test by now (not that I know how these things work).

It's just the sense of limbo which is annoying: once I get my period I know when to start trying again! Also I don't want my period on holiday!

I'll report back if anything changes. In the meantime good luck and thanks for posting because it's good to have company.

Welcome to the thread 123234345! We are almost cycle twins - my period was 28 Nov but I have longer cycles so wasn't due until 30/31 December either. I'm also off on holiday in 2 weeks and then DH is off on business for a bit which will make DTD more difficult, so I'd like to get cracking on the next cycle as soon as possible, which is why it's so annoying.

Interesting that you've also been pretty regular since March. That's the same as me. I find plenty of threads about ladies being irregular just after stopping the pill, but it seems odd I would be regular for so long and then things would start going wrong so suddenly.

I've ordered 20 cheap Ebay test strips so may test again at the weekend if still no AF. That would be just over 2 weeks since last DTD so would be my last hope really.

So when are you all testing? I'm going for it Saturday, which will be cd44 for me (12 days late)

Report
bluefreckles · 09/01/2013 15:01

I am on CD40 at the moment. Normally a 29/29 day cycle. Going to test as soon as my internet cheapies arrive in the post (any time now) but very VERY apprehensive about it now. Also have an appointment booked at docs Monday. If I get a BFP it will be to discuss that. If still no BFP or AF will be to panic and discuss that - although already thinking I will be fobbed off...

I may test again tomorrow if my cheapies are here - have never used FMU so far and drink quite a lot of water throughout the day. Not holding out much hope though.

When we very first started ttc, I had fairly regular cycles that were approx 30 - 32 days. I wasn't entirely sure though as I'm fairly rubbish at keeping track of things, so thought I'd make a note of dates (using fertility friend actually) so that I'd have a rough idea of LMPs, cycle lengths and best times to dtd.

I got to CD48 and was CONVINCED I was pregnant as I never usually had that long between periods. Pissed my money away Went through countless tests, all BFN and eventually AF arrived on CD48. I was gutted, but I think the mere act of trying to take note of my dates psyched me up and made my cycles go crazy.

(I stopped trying to work out dates after that, which made it hard to work out the EDD when I got my BFP two months later!).

On the other hand, a colleague (not yet 30) hadn't had AF for a long time and went through countless pregnancy tests - home and at the GPs. They all came back negative and they were investigating her for early menopause. She was really worried that it could be something more serious and couldn't understand what was going on. They eventually arranged for a scan to invesitgate for fibroids (I think) and found a 20 week old baby! Grin They still have no idea why all her tests were negative, and she has a lovely 3 month old to show for it!

I'm only on CD35, been off the pill for 2-3 years, normal cycle length 27-28 days, was pregnant last year but had MMC and ERPC early November, first cycle after was 27 days. I could easily be having a long cycle this time, however symptoms are keeping me hopeful too, I think I might test again tomorrow - I don't have the willpower that blue has Grin

Weewee - thank you. Its really useful to hear both sides of how this sort of thing can pan out. I know we're all keeping our fingers firmly crossed here on this thread that we will get our long awaited BFP soon.
Or at least have fun trying for another! x

Your right. It is great hearing both sides. I just wish I could have a BFP or AF cos then I can get on with trying again. But being in limboland is frustrated. It's also nice to been able to talk about everything. I feel it helps with the frustration, rather then discussing it with yourself and winding yourself up lol

WeeWeeWee - thanks for that, good to hear both sides.

I wonder whether there are any stats on how often a test can be false negative? I know it's much more likely to be a late period but it would be nice to know the relative probabilities! The tests all say that they are over 99% accurate, but I think that is referring to how accurately the test detects the hormone, not how accurately that indicates a pregnancy or otherwise. I may have misunderstood, though.

I will test again on Saturday when I'm going on holiday, and if I've not had my period by the time I get back I'll go to the GP. If I do get it, then at least I can have some Wine while I'm away.

Oh stay strong bluefreckles! So hard I know! You're taking me right back - can remember caving in and buying more tests and then feeing gutted when still no BFP! Hang on in there - you're still in the running.

123234345 and JellyBeanDavey have it in one - limbo is exactly what it is!

Incidentally did you DTD late on in cycle? At a time when you thought you would not be fertile? Just going by the late ov idea.

Fingers still tightly crossed.

I've only been off the pill properly since beginning Oct and Dec was our first month of trying (paying attention to fertile days etc). I don't know why I thought it would happen straight away but when I missed my AF I thought 'wow, this is it!'.
Not so sure now. Think I must be having one of those anovulatory cycles or whatever. My AF's have always been so regular in the past though .
Just want my AF now so I can move on. Still have an app at Docs Monday but don't know if I can face hearing what I am dreading - I'm not pregnant I.just have an 'issue'. Sad
