I hope nobody else has started a May conception thread; April isn't going to be it for me, so onwards and forwards ladies!

coggy · 26/04/2006 12:12

Hold on a minute......if we both teach...how can we both be on here now??!!! Shock

Hopecat · 26/04/2006 12:37

I'm freelance - specialist subject - so I don't have to work in normal schools.

Frankly, I couldn't take the pressure. Don't know how you guys handle it.

My friend works as a primary school teacher and seems to be permanantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Hopecat · 26/04/2006 12:40

By the way coggy, sorry about your freaky cycles. Although, personally, if AF's going to come I'd rather she was early than late.

I saw you on the Clomid thread when I was having a lurk. Good luck with it!

I've got a metallic taste in my mouth today, and I feel totally wiped out. Hope this isn't all psychosomatic, I've got a dreadfully overactive imagination.

laughalot · 26/04/2006 14:10

Hopecat my boobs are killing me today, glad you have a funny taste in your mouth Grin

coggy · 26/04/2006 14:18

Hopecat - it would be sooooo cool if North Devon worked for you....let's hope so, although I know it's best not to get excited early on.

I've taught in primary schools for over 11 years (which makes me sound old - but I'm not really!!)
I wenbt part-time a few years ago in an effort to see dh a bit more. Not very easy ttc when you both work completely different times hey?!

Hopecat · 26/04/2006 14:23

Lotta: I'm glad your boobs hurt! (What a weird sentence). Grin

Coggy, I agree it's not good to get excited too early, but I'm just made that way. I know exercising self-control is a sign of adulthood, but this is me exercising self-control.

Me not exercising self-control: telling everyone I meet "hello. I think I'm pregnant".

God Bless the Interweb. I suppose I see MN as place where I can let the self-control drop a bit. Smile

coggy · 26/04/2006 14:54

LOL Hopecat - I agree. Telling people on MN things you would NEVER discuss with anyone else!
That's what makes it so addictive I guess...it's good to say what you think and be able to just ask anything even though it would shame the whatsit out of me in RL!!

I MUST go...supposed to be teaching some teenagers in 15 minutes!

                  ....VERY addictive.......
Hopecat · 26/04/2006 14:59

I think we British types get ashamed too easily. Note to self: do NOT use the BLUSH emoticon again.

Good luck with your teenagers Coggy. Hope they're not too hormonal for you.

Mind you, the way I'm feeling at the moment, I really am calling the kettle black.

coggy · 26/04/2006 18:29

When I first read your message about Putsborough Beach I didn't think you and your dh were 'typical British types' at all!!!
That made me laugh a lot I can tell you!!

Teenagers were good..had to stop a burping contest from almost taking place(?!!)but, apart from that, good fun thanks!

wannaBe1974 · 26/04/2006 18:41

Hc I hope this month is your month, but try not to get too convinced until you have at least tested. There are a lot on here who have had simptoms every month and who convince themselves that they are pg every month only to be badly disappointed when af arrives. (I've been one of those on more than one occasion), of course am not saying that you're not pg, but imo it's better to think that you're not until proven otherwise, because the disappointment is that much greater if you convince yourself that this month is your month, and if it takes you longer to fall pg, then it can become an all-consuming experience that culminates in extreme emotional distress at the end of every cycle.

Well I think I might test tonight, maybe I won't, but maybe I will, my thinking is that if I am pg, there should be enough hormone by now to show up on a test, i mean I'm on cd37 fgs! And I'm two days past the longest cycle I've had so .. it's now or never I guess. If I'm not pg then there's something wrong and it will need sorting, but I know that gp will ask if I've done a test when i go to see her on Friday so it needs to be done. Ironically I am very calm about this, tbh I'm expecting it to be bfn, weird aren't i? lol. After all those months of ttc and getting excited, I'm later than I've ever been, and yet I'm not convinced that I must be pregnant? Rationalize that logic! :O

Hopecat · 26/04/2006 18:43

My al fresco days are over I'm afraid. Not that it's not sometimes tempting, but the thought of someone seeing my flabby, white 30-year-old arse in a field is enough to put me off.

Didn't mind when I was 20. Golf courses very comfortable: they keep the grass nicely. Grin

Hopecat · 26/04/2006 18:45

Hey Wannabe: crossed post. Fingers crossed for you tonight. Although isn't it better to use morning wee?

Don't worry about me, I've been getting excited every month since Jan 05. My DH is like you, but I actually find it easier to get excited and then sad - I get over it more quickly.

Debbsy · 26/04/2006 20:02

fingers and toes crossed for you wannabe (sorry for crash ladies)

neolara · 26/04/2006 20:03

Hi there, hope you don't mind me interrupting your thread but you all seem so knowledgable and I wondered if you might be able to answer a question about CM. I seem to get EWCM two or three days before the ovulation kits say I'm going to ovulate. By the time the surge occurs, the EWCM seems to have dried up, or at least great reduced. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? I'd be very grateful for any views on this. I've been very lucky and got pregnant 3 times in the past quite easily (but unfortunately miscarried twice). This time it is taking much longer than I expected and it's pretty bliming depressing.

trace2 · 26/04/2006 20:55

hi n

try this site, its usally peachy who does this, shes the one with the know of in cm

\link{http://www.fertilityuk.org/\cmsite}

trace2 · 26/04/2006 20:55

sorry neolara , i missed your name out

coggy · 26/04/2006 20:59

neolara - I think the ewcm comes before ov but now the more I think about it the more I'm coming to think that it's needed for the sperm.
so what I am basically saying is...that I am of no use to you whatsoever in my (less-than-helpful) answer. Sorry Blush

Oops Hopecat - there's one of those blushes that we weren't going to use!
..although I would have felt inclined if I had talked about my backside out in the fresh air...not a pleasant thought, especially as I have a few more years (and so probably a few more wrinkles) than you!!!
I guess that the Johnson's tanning-moisturiser cream-stuff hasn't reached those nether regions??!!

wannaBe - I do hope that you get a bfp. Are you going to test tonight or wait for the morning?

peachygirl · 26/04/2006 23:04

Hi all its very late but this is the first chance I have had to get on properly. Hope all is well.
LOL at Coggy and Hopecat, sneaking on in the daytime especially as I was also having a little lurk in my non contact time this morning too! I usually have a quick look in the spare 10 mins I have at lunchtime
Well done Trace for flagging up my site Grin
I'm on day 10 and have bought some pre seed - just one lot to try and see how it is.
Hopecat if your a specialist teacher do you work at the place that begins with a B on a road beginning with a C? if you do I'm jealous I would love to have a look round there.
Wannabe Good luck for the next test when ever you do it.

peachygirl · 26/04/2006 23:08

late night lurking look what I found I don't think I could imagine anything worse, why, why, why,
\link{http://www.amazingcreations.co.uk/html/Conception%20Curve.htm\look here}

Ooooh.....it also says lower down that it makes a great companion whilst watching TV or on the phone!!!

I'd rather have a hamster!! Grin

wannaBe1974 · 27/04/2006 09:27

lol peachy! now see I think that I've missed some fantastic money making opportunity here! I mean why ever didn't I think of "inventing" a pillow to aid conception! The world is just screaming out for these devices - and at 40 quid a pop I could be minted by now! lol! And I have no doubt that people buy them!

Well ... did a test, and ... bfn. Oh well, I'm kind of resigned now, no point getting upset really, and can't really be ttc if I've stopped having periods now can i, :).

soundbites · 27/04/2006 10:04

Good morning all. May I join you please? I have been told this is where to chat, having just come off the pill. To be honest, I'd be pretty shocked if I did fall pregnant in May, the first month of trying, so not too sure I have a right to be on this thread but it would be nice to be in contact with others also ttc.

FYI, I am 28, dh 35 and trying for our first, so quite a journey ahead of us. At the moment I just want to let things happen without being too worried cycles etc. yet, unless it starts to take ages. I have heard that it is best to wait for your first real period after the pill before you should really start trying, but we thought we'd take our chances. Do you agree? I think it is more to do with accurately working out conception dates. I also had a fairly irregular cycle pre-pill and wonder whether I will revert to that. Any experiences with this?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

wannaBe1974 · 27/04/2006 10:21

Hello soundBites and welcome. I think the "waiting for first period" is more to do with accurately dating a pregnancy than anything else, agree it is best to just relax and hope that nature takes its course without getting too involved in timings/charting etc, if you have sex regularly, then you are likely to fall pg.

I'm 32, have DS who is 3.5, and we've been ttc for our 2nd since May of last year, so that's about a year now. I'm on cd39 of a normally between 28/30 day cycle, although last cycle was 35 days. this time I've done two tests and they've been bfn so am now at the point of thinking there's something more sinister wrong than just taking time to conceive. Have gp appointment in the morning so with some luck I'll get some answers, or more blood tests which is prob more likely.

Good luck :)
