We're ttc #2 in dec and I know it's a really silly thing to get excited about, but just started taking folic acid and feeling very excited about it!

Yes! Planning to ttc DC2 starting Jan/Feb. I've lots of job issues going on at the minute which need sorted first but I'm optimistic about getting knocked up again within the next 6 months. I'm on the folic acid and have ordered ovulation test strips as my periods vary between 28 & 49 days. It's very exciting and feels lovely to be planning this with DH as DS was a complete surprise. I'm excited with you as we're planning to conceive our second for Dec/Jan, if all were to go to plan. Partly very excited, partly slightly dreading as I know what to expect. All incredible 10 months later though of course

Ooh a club for me! I was thinking of starting a thread of my own but I felt a bit silly and premature. I'm glad there are others who are excited about the future, imminent, planning to stop trying to not get pregnant :D I am having my Implant removed before the end of this year and hoping to conceive DC2 early next year. I'm hoping it won't take months for my hormones to get back to normal but I don't want to risk removing it sooner as I'd rather not get pregnant before Xmas/New Year (last chance to have a few civilised drinks get faced). How in advance is it recommended to take folic acid? I hadn't thought of that yet.

I think it's ideally 3 months in advance of ttc that you should start folic acid.
We had been originally planning to start trying over Christmas so I started at the beginning of Oct but now it looks as thought I need to find a new job ASAP so need to be in it a few weeks before getting on the bareback wagon

Oooh I might join here too. Planning to start TTC no2 next month! Also v. excited but trying not to overthink it as I'm currently weaning off ADs from PND with DD.

I would like to join. I'm going to be TTC in feb/mar. I'm 35 next month so a bit anxious that I will have trouble.
I already have a 4 year old DD but this will be the first child for my DP and obviously our first together.

What should I be doing now to prepare. Folic Acid I know. i read lots about caffeine and alcohol.

It would be lovely to have some company in the wait until after Christmas. I'm having a Lletz to remove some irregular cells from my cervix in Dec and have been told to wait two months after that to try.

Hi fancy nancy, I am hoping to start ttc after about may next year. My partner and I have tentatively decided to give ourselves a few months to get organised, save a bit, lose weight etc before hopefully ttc. We already have 2 dds, and have waited awhile now before thinking about more. I am 34, so aware that it might not be so easy this time around.

This is me too! I turn 30 in May so plan to start TTC after the boozy birthday celebrations. Currently veering between very excited and completely terrified. Both pretty silly given that it's still more than 6 months away...

When would a ttc in may baby be born? February, or beyond! It seems an age away!

It s hard not to have silly feelings about it though! The prospect of PLANNING a baby is quite exciting to me.... I haven't done that before, and now when we go shopping, we mooch around the cot/ pram section and go gooey.... Omg how SOFT!!!

Another one here. We're waiting until December because we've got a big holiday coming up and pregnant then would not be good. Trying to remember to take folic acid but not doing very well.

We're planning to ttc #3 after Xmas. Both DSs were conceived first cycle but 35 now so know it might not be so easy this time. Going to start my folic acid, lose weight etc but does anyone know if I should be taking a specific vitD supplement?

Thanks Leafmould! It's grim but fingers crossed it'll all work out soon. The thought of having another little squiglet next year (all being well) is keeping me strong through the work misery x

Exactly leafmould - it's hard to get your head around. Yes it would mean a Feb baby at earliest. So hopefully getting a bit lighter / more spring-like. I've not got as far as looking at prams yet (but ooh how exciting!!) but have been thinking about diet changes and vitamins. The finances of it also worry me. I'll be on statutory mat pay only so need to start saving pronto!

Can I join? I'm having my Mirena coil removed at the end of next week, frolic acid is already being taken, and I'm dieting and eating healthy to be in tip top condition (well, as good as I get). Already lost 8 pounds so fingers crossed we can conceive DC2 soon!

Is there room for me? Hoping to come off the pill at christmas and start TTC then!

Have started with the folic acid but need to start saving for ML, i'm the main breadwinner so need to have a cushion put away.

Hi everyone! Looks like there's a good few of us waiting to TTC! Is anyone else TTC their first? Also, how are your DHs / DPs feeling about it? My DH is a bit excited but won't talk about it really. It seems a long way off I guess, and it is. Buconclude imagining and talking about conceiving and being parents. Which I know is me getting obsessive ahead of myself! But I do sometimes think men lack imagination. They can only imagine it when it's actually happening!

Er, that was 'but I love' not buconclude! Stoopid iPhone!

Mine is my second, DD will be 1 in December and I want them fairly close in age so hopefully will have DC2 by this time next year!

My DH is not all that keen on talking about it now either although for a long while he was more eager to have a second than I was. DH thinks I'm getting ahead of myself when I talk about baby names and he's probably right but I think it's because it took me some time to get used to the idea and now that we're ready and decided I can't cork it haha. I think DH thinks more practically. He'd rather talk about and deal with what is going on now and discuss stuff that's happening later later. I prefer to plan ahead. DD was unplanned so it will be exciting when the contraception is gone and to know we are actually trying .
Off to get some Folic Acid. I tried Pregnacare last time but the tablets were huge. I'm trying to remember where I found the small ones - possibly boots. Good Luck all

Technically we are waiting til Dec ttc but last night we dtd unprotected and according to calculations I was ovulating between thurs-sat....reeeally hope I am pg although doubtful as it was random and not planned to time with my fertile days but given me a teeny shred of hope!

Definitelysometime and NoTwinkies - my DH is the same. He deals with the 'here and nows' rather than planning ahead which can be frustrating as I like to dream about the future and get everything in order. He is, however, totally 100% about going ahead with no.2. I was surprised, actually, that when I brought it up he was so easygoing about it. I expected a fight, a sulk, then a realisation it was right to plan another one
I've been told in no uncertain terms that it's one more only...I've always said I would like three but realise the practicalities of keeping it at two!

DS will be 19 months when we (hopefully) start TTC as I would like no more than 3 years between them.

Definitelysometime I got the sanatogen ones and they are not too big.
