"Come on ovaries! Let's get this party started, yeah?"

Irish, I crossed posts, the dou fertility monitor sounds amazing! It is fantastic that you can get feedback from experts. Wow!

Did you get your wrapping done?

I'm lucky to have DH on holiday so he took the kids out for icecream and I got it all done yesterday. I'm usually up til all hours on Christmas Eve,wrapping, really glad I won't be this time. Xmas Smile

Irishmammybread · 23/12/2012 23:59

Gum just about to log off and do some wrapping!
It is good getting some feedback from the fertility team, though I do think there's a lot of good advice and information to be had from the ladies on here with the years of combined experience!
It is a magical time when kids are looking forward to Father Christmas coming, I think this is the last year we'll have it with DD2. Do you log on to "Santa tracker" on line? Santa's progress is tracked by satellite as he travels round the world, it's a great tool for convincing children they need to go to bed when they can see on the screen that the big guy is approaching !!!!

Isabeller · 24/12/2012 00:06

hopeful I have also just started C25K, next session tomorrow, it's good to think of someone else doing the same thing and will stiffen my resolve, I hope.

I also used duofertility mamalattsand it was quite a mixed blessing. It was really encouraging to see what was going on with my cycle but tbh something of a passion killer despite best efforts on both sides.

Xmas Smile Christmas Eve!

Diege · 24/12/2012 09:15

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Dh at work today, and won't specify a 'return home' time which is getting me a bit Angry as I know it translates to 'going on the piss' but trying to let it go Hmm Am trying to get everyone out to the village mid-morning for last minute bits and pieces, and other than the irritating coughs things seem to be on the med illness-wise. Ds1's spots have scabbed over and ds2 (who had one solitary spot) now has none at all Hmm. Not sure if that counts as chicken pox? I remember dd1 having the same when dds 2&3 were covered, and the gp saying one spot was sometimes all people get (and that she'd likely get it again at some point) so who knows.
I am definitely going to get back into running I think. Can't really run part of 4 mile walk Gum as it's 2 miles each way that I do to train station and back home for work, so would look a bit John Cleese-like with lap top and at least one other bag Grin. I am going to try to fit 20 mins in in the evening though .I can't believe I use to do cross-country half marathons and 10ks Hmm

hopefulgum · 24/12/2012 11:28

Isabeller, it is good to know someone else doing it. I can't believe how motivated I am. It is a great way to get back to running - I can cope with the 1 minute intervals at this stage. I did my 3rd day today, and can actually say I'm enjoying it. However, my knees and hips are a bit reluctant to cooperate - a bit sore. I think running barefoot on the beach probably isn't the best and I'm waiting on some new shoes coming in the post. I ordered some sports bras too last night. Any excuse to shop!!Grin

Wow Deige - 10k, that's massive! I have always wanted to be able to run that far - it would be a huge accomplishment but I reckon I'll be chuffed if I do 5.

It's Christmas Eve night and everyone is suitably excited.Xmas SmileMerry Christmas!

Isabeller · 24/12/2012 15:18

Well done hopeful! I did this morning too and plan to do Boxing day, it really helps to think of someone else doing it too. I will be amazed if I can get to 5k, it would be a real achievement for me.

I'm nervously looking forward to our clinic appointment on 7th Jan hope winter holidays work wonders all round (or not winter as the case may be).

Due out in 10 minutes so Merry Christmas all Xmas Grin xx

notsoold · 25/12/2012 00:36

Merry Christmas to you all... May those testing get a bfp and everybody else get their bfps asap in 2013!!!

sparklysapphire · 25/12/2012 12:34

Happy Christmas to all

sparklysapphire · 25/12/2012 12:42

I'm trying to post from my phone again, so last post meant to be longer. Hope everyone's having a great day. I'm working today, but it's very quiet. DH not pleased as DD has to wait to open most presents til I get home, & he thinks thats spoiled the Christmas morning experience for her. But late shifts on Christmas Day are even worse. I'm sure it'll be fine wen I get home. Sorry to whinge, here's hoping for festive BFPs all round!

Morien · 25/12/2012 12:48

Merry Christmas everyone!

Irishmammybread · 25/12/2012 19:01

Happy Christmas everyone !
Hope you managed to relax and enjoy Christmas Day when u got home sparkly

hopefulgum · 25/12/2012 23:54

Yes, Merry Christmas everyone Thanks

It is early boxing day here, so Christmas is done and dusted. It was a big success for my DS3 - his wishlist was answered and he was a happy chappy.I think today might be a little different as we had quite a late night - celebrating with friends (DS3 will be tired and cranky). I feel really tired, but for the life of me can't seem to sleep in.The whole house is still fast asleep but I am up.

Well,my CBFM has started asking for sticks and already I've had two days of high readings. I've done nothing about it. DH and I have just been so tired the last couple of days. I shall endeavour to put in a bit of effort tonight! I'd better have a nap this afternoon so that I can stay awake long enoughHmm

Isabeller, I am supposed to start week2 today (c25k),but I think I may leave it til tomorrow. I have a headache and just feel knackered. Besides, I did a long walk on the beach yesterday, so I can skip a day. I didn't drink much yesterday - had one gin and tonic- but have woken up feeling yuck. I think it is more likely due to eating creme brulee at lunchtime, then pavlova and ice-cream cake in the evening Xmas Shock Way too much sugar for me. I'm back on the wagon today - back to healthy eating. Christmas has ruined any semblance of good eating the last couple of weeks.

Oh My Gosh, I have just realised that the Dr Who special is on tonight Xmas GrinThis family is going to be over the moon.We love it! I suppose you get to see it on Christmas Day? No spoilers please...

I hope everyone had a really lovely, lovely day with your families and DH's,DP's, special others.

I couldn't light a candle for Alfie and Louie and all our lost little ones last night, but I will tonight, and I'll place it in the window, letting our spirit babies know that we'd like them to come home.

Much love xxxx

CaliBee · 26/12/2012 08:16

A belated Merry Christmas to all. I hope santa bought you all some lovely pressies.
We had a lovely day at my sisters (Ive not yet met stuffing to match hers Grin). It was a little difficult sitting with my glass of wine and trying to pretend to drink it, but nobody seemed to notice it lol.
xx

mamaslatts · 26/12/2012 22:14

hope you all had wonderful christmasses. Thanks for all the advice on the fertility monitor, i will look into the clear blue one too. DH bought me slinky undies though so might try that for now!

Irishmammybread · 26/12/2012 23:26

Did you enjoy the Dr Who special gum ? We all watched it Christmas Day. Sounds like you had a lovely day,I wouldn't worry about overindulging on the sugar, you can always make up for it later!
What a lovely idea lighting a candle for all our lost babies.
It was a quiet Christmas for us, we couldn't help thinking of those missing, there should have been FIL and a 2 mth old baby at the table. However with the kid's excitement there were lots of happy moments too.
My turkey turned out ok,though there's a lot of it, it was turkey and stuffing toasties at lunch today and I think I'll put some in a paella tomorrow!(Not the stuffing!)
Hope you're having a lovely time reunited with your DP CaliBee ,lucky no one noticed you abstaining from alcohol! When will you start to tell your family?
Enjoy the slinky undies mamaslatts who knows, you might not even need the fertility monitors!
AF arrived for me just in time for Christmas, but I wasn't too surprised. It's still a disappointment but at least I was able to have a nice glass of wine with dinner.
The receptionist from my GP practice phoned on Christmas Eve with my blood results, my progesterone on d7 po was 84.8, on d10 po was 61.6. The message from the GP was that it meant I'd ovulated. I need to let the Duofertility team know the results as they had suggested taking the samples in the first place but gum ,you know about these things, does those results sound normal to you?

hopefulgum · 26/12/2012 23:27

mamalatts, slinky undies! You lucky girl! I hope they do the trick.

Now,if I could just find some energy, I might get this ttc show on the road. Last night DH visited a friend and got home at midnight, so no SWI. Really must get onto it soonHmmAnother high reading on my monitor, but who knows how many days of that I'll get, may have to start doing opk's too.

hopefulgum · 26/12/2012 23:38

Irish - crossed posts,so didn't see your post.

Those progesterone results sound excellent. I would be very happy with those results. I believe in the UK (you measure it differently to us in Oz) that over 30 is considered normal and ovulating - so your results are excellent. You can probably rest assured that lack of progesterone is not the cause of your miscarriages.

Will you be taking aspirin, Irish ? I wonder about it. I read recently that if the endometrial lining is thin then aspirin can help. Some doctors prescribe it to women who have taken clomid because it can thin the lining. I took the red clover this month, as a natural alternative to clomid, so I am thinking about taking aspirin after ovulation.

Oh, small confession here, I was looking online for information about clomid and realised I can buy it from the US, 30 pills of 50mg, for only $50. Without a prescription. I am amazed. I can't believe how you can buy prescription drugs from overseas so easily. Anyway, I did buy some, but I am not sure that I'll take it. I'm still thinking about it and don't yet feel ready to do it. I'm hoping I won't need to.

Irishmammybread · 26/12/2012 23:57

thanks gum , that's a relief, at least it seems something is working ok!
I've had different advice on taking aspirin, my GP originally said to take it every day while trying to conceive, doing further investigation and listening to people on Mumsnet a lot of consultants recommend waiting to get a BFP before starting to take it. What did the article you read advise, was it to take it after ovulation and take a break if AF started or to take it continually?
It is amazing that clomid can be bought online, especially without a prescription.
Good luck with your SWI, what day of your cycle are you?

hopefulgum · 27/12/2012 00:17

Irish, I'm on CD12, so will ovulate soon I think.

The article I read suggested taking aspirin once ovulation has been confirmed (so for me, without ultrasound tracking, that would mean after three high temps that confirm ovulation). And I get the idea that you keep taking it until 12 weeks.

The thought of actually making it to 12 weeks seems so foreign to me these daysSad I do remember a time when getting pregnant meant having a baby to look forward to, but after 3 miscarriages, every day is another milestone and I won't even consider that I'm "having a baby" unless I make it to 12 weeks and get a good scan. Fingers crossed we can both have that happen soon...

Irishmammybread · 27/12/2012 00:30

yes gum hopefully 2013 will bring us both a baby!
I hope I don't ovulate on cd16 again this cycle as DH will be away for a week, if I ovulate on d13 or 14 I'm in with a chance. I just feel like every month counts at my age!

DoctorWhoFan · 27/12/2012 01:33

Hi ladies. Do you mind if I join you?

Quick intro...I'm 45. My partner is 31 (got lucky there) and we're trying for baby number one. I ovulated on Christmas Day would you believe? Grin and we had been DTD for about 5-6 days on and off prior to that, but Xmas day was when I got a positive on the OPK.

I have a very boring and regular 28 day cycle, I quit smoking at the beginning of November and am taking lots of folic acid and Pregnacare vits. DP is still smoking but cutting down with a view to quitting altogether in the new year. He's horribly addicted, but has already halved his intake in the last 6 months so I'm pretty proud of him tbh.

I'm not working due to mental health issues so am receiving benefits which are helping out. I don't know when or indeed if I will ever be well enough to go back to work, but I DO feel that I would be able to cope with a baby. It's a different stress/trigger altogether.

Anyhow, I hope you've all managed to have a decent 'festive' season. Personally, I'm the bah humbug type, but accept that not everyone is as jaded as me when it comes to Xmas.

Moving house on the 4th Jan (talking about timing!) and AF would be due on the 9th unless an Xmas miracle has occurred...I have a feeling the 2WW is going to just about send me round the twist, I want this baby so bad. WE want this baby so bad...

Anyhow, I should probably try and get some sleep. I look forward to getting to know you ladies Smile

BTW...Wasn't Doctor Who awesome??? Grin

Italiangreyhound · 27/12/2012 02:04

I hope you all had a very Happy Christmas ladies.

hopefulgum · 27/12/2012 08:24

Hello Italian, and Merry Christmas to you too. How is everything going for you, how's the adoption process going?

Welcome Drwhofan, yes, it was a great episode. But not sure I understand the whole Clara/Oswin dying/coming back to life thing.I suppose all will be revealed in the new series. How long do we have to wait for that?

Have you had any testing done to see where you are at with your fertility? I hope it is an easy run for you and that you fall pregnant asap. Trying to conceive in our forties is not for the faint of heart or the impatient. It can take some time, or perhaps you will be lucky and hit the jackpot early. Smile

DoctorWhoFan · 27/12/2012 08:46

Hi Gum. No, no testing as yet. We're going to give it a couple of months before we start getting tests done. Mostly from a logistics point of view - moving house and finding a new doctor etc. To be honest at the moment I feel quite positive. Mind you if af turns up around the 9th January, all that may change. I DID do a home FSH test and that came out normal. At the moment, given my regular as clockwork cycles, I'm trying to tell myself there's no need to panic just yet.

DoctorWhoFan · 27/12/2012 08:50

I don't understand the thing with Clara either but I don't care. I love Dr Who and have done since I was little and used to watch it with Jon Pertwee Grin. Showing my age good and proper!
