BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

Kitty oh you know the docs, they like to let things unfold naturally [grrrr]! I'm sure I will cave in and go back to docs mid August if nothing turns up! (should really wait until September but don't see that happening!)

bodi · 26/07/2012 16:44

yay Red - huge congratuletions to you and wishing you plainsailing for the next few monthe.

Ribs - Hope you had a good break
Wishful - hurray Mrs, glad you had a fantastic day

I'm still in limbo, not sure if I ov's on 15th as test was ambiguous but matched temp drop and then gradual increase. Temp still slightly raised, boobs feel huge, tired and cramping a little this week. Did a HPT at what might have been 10DPO but BFN - not sure whats going on, boo!

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 18:14

I am joining

We're back on it and I should OV around 3 August Grin

bodi · 26/07/2012 18:25

hurray kick

May you shag your way to victory!

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 19:47

One hopes :)

I want to be pregnant so I can tell the family over Xmas dinner this year Grin

I want spitted out turkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 26/07/2012 20:32

Been to doctors but not much info provided. She said they would only refer me for tests if I had had three miscarriages. I described them as chemical pregnancies but she called them miscarriages and was really supportive. I kind of expected her to fob me off.

I told her I was taking a small dose of aspirin to help with blood flow to the uterus to try and help develop a thicker lining. She admitted she had no idea if that would help or not (she kind of admitted that with me googling everything in sight I probably know more than her re ttc).

Anyway plan is to keep going and I will either get a sticky BFP (please please please) a bfn or another chem preg. If it is another chem preg that takes me up to three and I get refererred to a specialist.

kick really glad you will be ttc this month. If you do get knocked up there is no way you will be able to hide it from your family till Xmas. But I do like the sound of spat out turkey Smile

woody17 · 26/07/2012 20:35

Ah ok - thanks red that isn't what I thought it was! I normally lie still for a while afterwards but I might try doing that from now on!

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 20:37

whenshewas

Argh that's really frustrating!!! Do you think aspirin is a good thing though? It thins the blood so I can't imagine it would be any kind of good when TTC?

I honestly don't know enough so just asking?

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 20:38

Oh yeh and if I am knocked up, I am hiring a blimp (not me) and telling the WORLD

woody17 · 26/07/2012 20:41

I've read that ibuprofen can affect fertility/conceiving - has anyone else heard this?

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 20:43

I think they will say that everything effects it to some degree.

But it's how much you take and how you take it.

I take ibuprofen but I doubt it will stop me conceiving. So much so that I won't stop taking it - even now.

woody17 · 26/07/2012 20:53

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've always taken it - I'd never thought anything of it but I bought a book by Zita West and she said about it.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 26/07/2012 20:56

The evidence for aspirin is for Hughes syndrome (sticky blood), where the blood clots more easily. It can cause problems with the developing embryo and placenta, one of the main symptoms is repeated miscarriage.

I don't think I have this but I just have a feeling my uterine lining wasn't thick enough to support implantation. If I take 1/4 aspirin a day it might improve blood flow to the uterus and make a thicker healthier lining (this is just a theory, I am clutching a straws really).

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 26/07/2012 20:57

Oops just realised I am obsessing on wishfuls chilled out thread. Sorry guys.

NicolaHazel · 26/07/2012 21:01

I've only stopped taking ibuprofen to get used to taking paracetamol instead, as I generally take ibuprofen. It's not as bad as I thought, actually, as I get really bad stress / eye strain headaches at work. :-(

I need to start reading my Zita West book, but I'm not sure the train is the right place, and it's where I do most of my reading, as I'm so tired at bedtime I go straight off!

woody17 · 26/07/2012 21:03

I've started getting things on my kindle so no one can see what I'm reading!

kittykatsforever · 26/07/2012 21:04

Nicola put another cover on the outside, nobody need be any the wiser Wink

NicolaHazel · 26/07/2012 21:04

I may have to take one of the Harry Potter loose covers I have! :-)

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 21:10

The only time I take Ibuprofen is when my AF arrives. I get a lot of pain.

And if my back gets sore but a walk or some exercise works as well. I broke it a couple years ago so have a fair bit of lasting damage there

I've started on paracetamol too though.

wishfulthinking1 · 26/07/2012 21:24

kick - glad you're with us. I think some regurgitated food over Christmas dinner would be ace!

whenshewas - glad the dr was kind and supportive. It's annoying that they won't do anything until something and has happened 3 times, but I guess the logic is that it is 'normal' for things likes this to happen a couple of times- just bad luck. I was thinking about your dr calling them mc- I think your dr is right, but imagine how many people don't test on the day af is due, and wait a couple of days, they wouldn't even know! It's mind boggling! And don't worry about stressing out on the chilled out thread- I'm driving myself a bit mad too. Only 2 days till af due. Please please please stay away! still no stupid cramping that I had last time though. Bummer!

I like the long-timers threads :D

In law spat turkey. Can't wait Grin

swimmingnotdrowning · 26/07/2012 21:31

I'm in too please. (bio = ttc since Feb, diagnosed in 1999 with pcos, mid 30s, a bit sarky in writing but nicer in RL).

Looking forward to lots of expert advice and not obsessing at all on here.

NICE strategy draft 2012 says non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) associated with ovulatory failure in some studies so I have been getting through current AF with paracetamol actifast and I'm pleasantly surprised that apart from two hideous hours overnight they gave done the trick. Worth a try?!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 26/07/2012 22:39

wishful I didn't realise you only had two days till af, time is flying.

Fx for you

fatasbutter · 26/07/2012 22:52

Ooh wishful how have you managed to not POAS?!! You are an ace POAS-dodger and I am sooo jealous!! Wink

frustratedpants · 26/07/2012 22:55

Hi kick hoping you're not going to need it, but mefalamic acid (think that's how you spell it) is brill pain relief for AF cramps. also gets rid of my migranes and AF related back pain
