BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

Xxx

You arent thinking tranexamic acid are you?

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 23:00

No you aren't, don't worry Grin

fatasbutter · 26/07/2012 23:00

Mefenamic acid I think!?

KickTheGuru · 26/07/2012 23:02

Cool will head to Google... Grin

Hopefully I won't ever need it again but it's been a year so I doubt that :)

frustratedpants · 26/07/2012 23:04

That's the one butter

wishfulthinking1 · 27/07/2012 08:15

Last month I wasn't a dodger at all- poas 1 day before AF was due- bfn- made me feel totally shite. In my heart of hearts, I knew I wasn't pregnant though. This month, am afraid, I feel the same. I'm ok about it- we're married now and off for school holidays- df - oh no he isn't!!! DH has agreed to sHag me whenever I request it in august so romantic whereas we had a couple of .
'I'm too tirewd' moments in July and I think we stopped did too soon. Obviously, I'm hoping af doesn't turn up, but I don't want to face a bfn unnecessarily- would rather be given the bad news the natural way!

having said that, i hadn't really thought about it... Perhaps I should pee....

Next month I'm going To get some IC, Ive only got cd digital in the house! Far too expensive to pee on willy-nily!!

Hi all

I tend to stick to paracetamol during AF, I read somewhere that Ibroprofen can act similar to asprin and make you bleed more.

Been DTD everyday for 3 days now and had a temperature rise this morning so fingers crossed.
Away camping this weekend so hope to relax and chill by the campfire with a Wine, naughty I know but find it hard to stay off the odd glass, well until I get BFP anyway, kind of helps me to relax a little anyone else the same?

Kittenkatzen · 27/07/2012 09:51

Morning all

Welcome back kick :) hope you're feeling much better now, glad to see you back on the ttc wagon so soon!

I've always used ibuprofen as my staple painkiller of choice, just because I think it works better than paracetamol. However since ttc have made the switch to paracetamol and seem to be coping fine around af, although admittedly I don't suffer horrendously anyway. The actifast ones someone recommended upthread are really good (if enormous).

Mersea yes I'm also still having the odd glass of wine even in the 2ww without feeling too bad about it. DH and I have cut right back on our drinking generally though just for the health/weight loss benefits and now tend to just have one or two drinks of a weekend and none at all during the week. Have a lovely weekend camping - hope the weather is good to you!

fatasbutter · 27/07/2012 09:58

Oh yes defo allowed a glass or two until the BFP! As long as you're not an alky of course!! Wink

fatasbutter · 27/07/2012 10:00

Hmm sorry mersea that may have come out wrong!! Not implying that u r alky of course! Grin

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 10:15

Hey kitten

Yeh we did some calculations and some mathematical theories and all the stuff that does and doesn't make sense and we worked out that my average glucose level over the past 50 odd days is 6.6 which translates to a potential hba1c of 5.2%. Then, I've hovered on internet forums and randomly have discovered that my glucose control is in the "very tight control" group and ESPECIALLY when I compare to those people who said it would take me ages to understand it. My glucose level is now almost the same as a non-type 1 diabetic and hovers around the 4's pretty much all day. My spikes don't last long because I control them.

I then noticed a medical research journal that said 28% of diabetics are within the under 7% range and further to that, the safe zone is actually under 8.5%.

My DH just messaged me to say that "You are the worlds' best wife. I looked at you this morning and felt so lucky". Awwww

Kittenkatzen · 27/07/2012 10:24

Wow kick that's so brilliant, I can't believe how quickly you've "recovered" considering how sick you were......although, that said, I guess it's to be expected given everything you were still doing whilst you were still sick!

Awww bless your DH, he sounds lovely :)

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 10:36

My DH said you can't give a control freak something to control and expect them not to control it Grin

I realised the other day that the biggest issue is actually the emotion response. People panic when they go too high or too low. I think when people are too high, they don't tend to inject to bring the levels and when they are too low, they overeat so they overshoot the mark and go too high.

The biggest thing I realised is actually to not panic. Once I got that under my belt, I can manage it easy peasy. :)

We've not had the doctors go ahead but based on what I've read and looked at, I have better control than most and I get my hba1c results on Monday anyway so pah to all that!

How are you doing anyway?!

swimmingnotdrowning · 27/07/2012 11:21

So, for nation-wide spat turkey, we'd all need to synchronise BFPs in the autumn? That's plenty of time to "practise"... Wink

Calculated using Timeanddate, the control freak's best friend.

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 11:29

Nationwide spat turkey is awn! Grin

Kittenkatzen · 27/07/2012 11:40

Well if there's one thing you sound like you have it's control :o

We're good thanks - after our mini finance related omg we can't ttc now panic moment last month, we kind of just carried on as we were anyway and have talked ourselves back round again! Still only on month 3 though so staying chilled for now.

Count me in for the spat turkey revolution! I'd like a September bfp please as that way we'd hopefully have a scan picture to slip into xmas cards/wrap round the chipolatas/hide on the tree xmas morning (oooh I like that last idea!)

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 11:47

So are you back on trying?? I forgot about that for a moment but glad you seem to have come around with it.

One thing I can say having looked back on the passed year is that we were so adamant we couldn't TTC in case we fell pregnant. But the funny thing is that it's a year later and our fears were all totally ungrounded. We should have started YEARS ago. I should have started when I was 13!!!

Never know when it will happen

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 11:49

Sorry couldn't TTC like - 2 years ago but we decided to start a year ago and all the months before we made the actual decision to start trying. Stupid decision since we could have fallen pregnant around the time we actively decided to start trying!

Kittenkatzen · 27/07/2012 12:00

Yeah that's the thing isn't it - there's just no telling when it might happen. We panicked because we had this whole financial plan in place which then got scuppered by DH's idiot ex employers Angry....suddenly our plan wan't so perfect any more so we kind of went "arrrrrgh we can't do this now!!!!".

Then we realised we were being a bit silly - we're not in a bad financial situation at all, we can still afford to do this, we just might need to reconsider how we work maternity leave etc. Plus I'm not getting any younger and would ideally like at least 2 dc's if possible so really need to crack on with things!

So yeah - we're taking the relaxed approach for now, and will most likely step it up a gear if nothing has happened by christmas

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 12:05

Yeh that was us as well. And you forget that getting pregnant is just the first step. There is still another 9 months after that to sort out finances!!!

I want 2 or 3 as well and am 31 in November so I need to crack on as well Grin

Kittenkatzen · 27/07/2012 12:24

Exactly what we said too!

I'm 33 in October - waaaaaahhhh!

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 12:25

Argh we need to remember we are 30 and 32. Still young! Spring chickens!

NicolaHazel · 27/07/2012 12:27

I'm 36 in November, so I wouldn't be worrying too much. You've not got to the not-so-magic age of 35 yet!

Kittenkatzen · 27/07/2012 12:32

Oooh nicola i had you pegged as younger than me......I bet my mental images of everyone on here are way off!

KickTheGuru · 27/07/2012 12:35

I always thought Nicola was younger than me too!

She certainly looks younger than me Grin
