BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

Xxx

Forgot to add Grin at winkles exploits

winkle2 · 04/08/2012 17:57

No we boringly dtd at home BEFORE we set off for Cardiff! We were worried we'd be too tired later.

SMEP is sperm meets egg plan:

Start dtd eod from cd8
Start opks from cd10
When you get a positive opk dtd that night, the next and the one after
Miss a day and do a final try

it's to ensure you are covered over OV period. We tried it for 3 months and it didn' t work for us. :(

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 04/08/2012 18:57

Ah sperm meets egg (it all makes sense now). Also feeling less ashamed of sex life.

I always thought once you got a positive opk you would ovulate 24/48 hours later. Didn't know it could be four days after the peak. (oh crap I've been doing it wrong).

redstrawberry · 04/08/2012 18:58

I have missed so much on here! Yay to positive Opks for winkle and kick! Really waiting to get one soon myself. Peeing on Opks is fun Grin

I think we are going for frequent sex rather than eod. And I have accepted I'm not going to be one of those who falls pregnant instantly and it will take time. When the time does come I am not going to be gloating or getting madly excited. Fb announcements have never been my style Wink. it will just be so difficult to believe a bfp until the 12w scan! Not sure how I will feel. I don't think I'll be complaining at all. Maybe just here on my safe zone on mn but not in RL.

Spent the last 2 days not thinking abt ttc apart from doing OPKs. Went for some retail therapy and yes hooked on Olympics.Grin Few mins before athletics starts!

KickTheGuru · 04/08/2012 19:35

whenahewas

i get yelled at a lot for daring to.suggest that our body may not be as mechanical as we would like.

why the missed day at the end?

i am doing every day for 5 days since the positive and then eod just in case for a couple more days

i follow that sperm meets egg thing based on the research i have done. just no sure about the last day skip?

DulcetMoans · 04/08/2012 19:42

By the sounds of it we are all unlikely to make a big deal of it on Facebook so maybe there is truth to what someone said (on phone so can't see who!) that if you don't fall easy you make less a public show of it.

KickTheGuru · 04/08/2012 20:13

Yet I think thru harder you work for it, the more you hold it to your heart.

A mate fell pregnant after trying for ages and the first mention on Facebook was her husband saying it was a girl at 20weeks

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 04/08/2012 20:25

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 04/08/2012 20:27

We kind of forgot to put anything on Facebook about the pregnancy when I was pregnant with dd. DIdn't even annouce her birth (not big fb fans).

Well the symptom spotting has started early this month. Breasts feel a bit achy, it is going to be a long two weeks if I am symptom spotting already.

resipsa · 04/08/2012 22:45

Dulcet I agree. It took us about a year for DD and I'd spent my 30s saying I didn't want kids (now I know why people thought I was a weirdo). I told my mum/sister/PIL at 16 weeks then the world at 5 months. There was no way I was taking it for granted.
Now thinking "what if we had DD who turned into a J Ennis"? I wouldn't stop crying!

resipsa · 04/08/2012 22:53

Oh, by the world I mean anyone who asked. We "told" no one, just waited for it to become bloody obvious. Our next door neighbour was still taken by surprise the first time we ventured out...

winkle2 · 05/08/2012 00:21

Kick - I'm not sure why you do the missed day at the end? Could be to give you a rest?

When - you could release an egg 48 hours later and then it lives for 24 hours so that's maybe why you have to keep carrying on.

On way back from cardiff - what is it with us and penalties?

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 05/08/2012 07:29

I felt so sorry for that last player that missed. He looked devastated.

I was thinking last night about dtd and catching the egg. My mind still goes back to when we were trying for dd and dtd eod, it was huge pressure and took all the fun out of sex. This time round I have caught 2 out of the 3 eggs released since bf.
So I think for us the relaxed just dtd close to ov approach works, just need to hang onto one of the little guys.

redstrawberry · 05/08/2012 09:18

Morning all - how fantastic was Jessica ennis last night! I was welling up watching her - I have been very emotional on and off since the cp. dunno if it's my messed up body. But I watched one of those charity appeal adverts and I started welling up..weird. I'm not a very emotional person.

Fx for you whenshewas. I think yes we are going for frequent rumpus with conceive plus Grin doing the winkle as I type...and had a personal question for you ladies. Errrrmmm once your DH comes does he stay in or pull out of you quickly? Dunno if this has anything to do with sperm escaping if he pulls put too quick. So we had a long cuddle with him stayin put Blush

Tinytwinkles · 05/08/2012 09:48

Hello everyone, sorry i have been quiet...

Guess what? I am back in the uk for a bit and im so happy its in the important cd. DTD with all intent and hoping for a BFP.

How have you been red?

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 09:52

Haha. That is personal red but I will answer if it helps. He tends to stay put for a while afterwards but that could be as much related to laziness! Comparatively though I couldn't say it makes it less likely to come out. The best solution for that I have found is angle at withdrawal. I won't go into anymore details!

Strange I am happy to discuss that with strangers but not announce things to friends in Facebook! Haha!

redstrawberry · 05/08/2012 10:00

Lol thanks dulcet! I think previously DH pulled out almost immediately after the deed had been done Blush I kinda like him staying put Wink thanks for sharing it's weird indeed how much I share on here!

Welcome back tiny I'm doing good up and down on the ttc rollercoaster. How you been?

Tinytwinkles · 05/08/2012 10:09

Red , hahaha! we are in the ttc rollercoaster together..... I am good, so glad to be back with DH so we can DTD. I could have sworn you got a BFP already. August will be our month. I am trying not to think about it and just enjoy DTD but seems DH wants a BFP badly now....

How have u been?

KickTheGuru · 05/08/2012 10:43

mine erm stays in a bit but then i need to elevate the hips a bit so i get rid of him when i can feel elevation becomes a necessity

we didn't dtd last night so probably missed everything now

oh well

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 05/08/2012 15:21

kick don't worry too much about not dtd last night. I think sex before ov is the most important (after is a good insurance policy though).

Fx

winkle2 · 05/08/2012 16:07

Another peak this morn so more dtd tonight for me!

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 17:14

How many days should you get a peak then, do you know winkle? I only got my smiley one day but its my first month so not sure if that is normal.

StormBird · 05/08/2012 17:21

Hi Ladies....

Hope all is well, not had much time to read through the posts as DS is poorly and keeping me on my toes..

Winkle I noticed that you have been talking bout a 'peak' - are you using the CBFM (Clear Blue Fertility Monitor)??

winkle2 · 05/08/2012 18:21

Dulcet and StormBird I am using the CBFM which is different to the sticks that you get a smiley on.

Dulcet - The CBFM is pre-programmed to give you a peak after your first peak, then a high and then back to low (to coincide with the fact that you are most fertile for 24-48 hours. It then stops asking for the sticks which I think is wrong because you can get the 'surge' and then not release an egg or you can get what I did and have a peak and not get AF for 20 days later!

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 20:18

Cheers winkle. Like I said, first month so not sure what I'm doing. Though smiley meant I might have ov'd but apparently means I will over following 24-48hrs. Wondered if monitor knew any more!
