BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

"Our family and close friends were aware of the MMC so they'l all know we're trying and occasionally ask. Why do that. Surely if theres anything to tell, il let them know!"

Agree - this is why you lot are the only people who know we're trying (well, except for my work IT dept if they ever look at my internet history Hmm). We get questioned about it enough as it is without giving my mother people an excuse to ask for constant status updates! I hate being asked if we're trying - I don't want to say yes, but I hate blatantly lying as well. Can't really tell my mum to fuck off and mind her own either! Sigh.

So it sounds like we're all hitting the vino tonight then :) kick I'm sure it was you that said somewhere that drinking in 2ww is ok really as you wouldn't be sharing blood yet at that stage anyway....so get pouring! Wine

CD5 for me today, af has well and truly left the building - let the shagging commence! :o

KickTheGuru · 03/08/2012 17:22

Yep vino doesn't do anything in the 2ww. And it doesn't do much to female fertility. A couple glasses won't hurt.

YAY! Vino on a Friday. Shag, shag, shag!

No one really asks us. Actually my brother did ask before he knew we were trying. We told him we'd been trying for ages and they went off on that "well we only tried for 2 months. Just relax and it will come". I think I was admitted to hospital 2 weeks later so that shut that up. Now they all know we've been having problems, add the diabetes to that and no one really asks anymore. Good.

And my mother is convinced my DH is going to kill me after he failed to diagnose diabetes so I don't think she really cares. And his parents don't really care so we don't exactly have a bunch of parents begging us to reproduce. His siblings are relatively thick and breed like rabbits so we don't have much to do with them either really. By "we don't have much to do with them" I mean, I have met the one a couple times and haven't met the other at all. Neither were invited to our wedding. Actually dont' even know if they know (or care) that we are married... Hmmm

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 03/08/2012 18:05

yeah wine for me and DP too. Ill have a little cry I think, he'l give me a cuddle and tell me not to be a silly cow. Then ill nail him.

Hi RIBS, good to see you again but sad to see you sad :(

I agree with the others: allow yourself to be sad and then pick yourself up again. We all do it every month :)

Did you see rightupmyrue got her BFP?

It must be our turn soon hey?!

resipsa · 03/08/2012 19:23

RIBS like your style. DH is 6 yrs younger than me. Doesn't seem to be a gap now as he's mid-30s and I'm, ahem, just over 40. But when he was a 6 feet 5 inch Australian rugby playing 21 yr old, well, then we were talking...

RIBS · 03/08/2012 22:04

No Winkle, I didn't. Does that just leave us then?.Bloody good on her, really jealous and really pleased for her.

A woman after my own heart, @rep, the tales I could tell about my toy boys would make a stripper blush. Ur Aussie rugby guy sounds fab. Keep me away from him, I may drool!

Iv got home and feel fine now, I think it helped just having a whinge and feeling sorry for myself a bit this aft. I know we don't know each other in rl but I feel like iv got a load of extra mates who know exactly what I'm going thru. Thanks ladies. X

winkle2 · 03/08/2012 22:27

Yep she posted a thread to say she got her BFP after 16 months TTC. So it's surely our turn now!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 03/08/2012 22:30

Wow 16 months. Really glad she has her BFP.

winkle2 · 03/08/2012 22:36

Actually I reread the thread and it was 19 months not 16!

RIBS · 03/08/2012 23:58

Good on her. That's marvellous news. It gives me a bit of hope 2. Best of luck 2 her. Like I said 2 dp when this kid comes, its certainly gonna b wanted. Think that applies 2 all us long timers!

Mersea · 04/08/2012 00:22

May not be around for a while as going to work on an International camp for two weeks, with 250 young people from 12 different countries. Plan not to drink too much or eat too much crap food, but I am sure I'll fail!! Funny resipsa and RIBS I am just over 40 and my DP is 33 I met him at the International camp over 13 years ago he was 19 and a sports instructor....

RIBS I hope you feel better soon, clomid makes me feel really crap, headaches, sickness and I have put on weight. I only have one month supply next and can't say I am going to bother with another lot. I hear if it has not worked after 3 months it is unlikely to but next month is cycle 4 so we will see.

KickTheGuru · 04/08/2012 10:49

Do you think people who battle through conception are less likely to moan about a bad pregnancy? Or do you think if they battle, they seem to battle more?

Good on rightupmyrue. As Ribs says, it gives a glimmer of hope.

Watching track and field and the triathlon. Looking for a nice coastal town to move to and commute to London for work...

What's everyone else doing?

winkle2 · 04/08/2012 11:36

Enjoy the camp Mersea!

I def think we'll be less likely to moan about being pregnant. Also I don't care if I hit 20 stone as long as baby is ok! And I don't think I'll announce it on Facebook either - I won't believe it till I have the baby in my arms :(

Cd14 here and the monitor peaked so will be dtd today and tomorrow for sure. Still think its very early for me though, usually get a smiley cd16-18.

Off to watch Team GB in the footy at the Millenium Stadium later!

KickTheGuru · 04/08/2012 11:41

Yay on your peak! We get the same ish cycles this time.

We're DTD every day for the next 4 days. Just in case. Should catch the slippery bugger that way.

I said to DH, I am not sure we've ever really DTD enough (apart from when not ovulating) so maybe that's been our biggest problem? We've always just tried once or twice around the time we think I would OV (since I've not ever had an idea of when I OV) and we could have done it too early or too late?

I mean - you just need a three day break and that can be you out, really.

NicolaHazel · 04/08/2012 11:42

Enjoy the football, winkle.

A friend of mine from back home announced the birth of her son last week without having announced the pregnancy. I liked that :-)

Unlike another who has some godawful weekly thing which annnounces every sodding stage of development.

And someone at work may be accidentally up duffed too and isn't ready for a baby. One of my best friends too...trying hard to stay OK about it, as she may not be yet!

winkle2 · 04/08/2012 11:49

The weird thing is that I have my peak but the 2 lines aren't similar in colour. I don't really trust the monitor ESP after epic cycle last month! We'll dtd the next few days and then try every 2-3 days for rest of cycle just in case. So far we've dtd cd9 and 12 (I said 10 and 13 the other day I got it wrong!).

I can't really blame the ladies who announce they're pregnant on Facebook as I prob would have done it if it hadn't taken me so long!

I'm booked in for tests with the fertility clinic on 14th not sure if I said.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 04/08/2012 12:00

Good luck with the tests winkle and best of luck trying to catch the egg for August.

Listening to you all talk about how often you dtd is making me feel a bit inadequate Smile. We have only dtd 2, 3 and 2 times when trying to catch the egg. It seems to work for us though, the prescribed humping eod was too stressful.

DulcetMoans · 04/08/2012 12:16

I got my smiley today too winkle so we will be on similar timings this month it seems. DTD weds and yesterday so just hoping I can convince DP to do it today and tomorrow!

Probably won't announce in FB, haven't announced engagement but not sure why. I guess I feel it's a bit private. The weekly pregnancy thing can be annoying. Friend of a friend started at week 4! She must have literally poas and then went on Facebook!

winkle2 · 04/08/2012 12:44

Lol @ POAS then going on FB!

RIBS · 04/08/2012 14:10

Ha @ dulcet. Think my sil had sex, assumed it was a done deal and announced she was pg 2 every1. It was the longest pregnancy ever.
I'll have 2 tell mum, mil and best mate as they know the history. But that will b it. Just have 2 get over the hurdle of being pregnant 1st.

We normally do eod from cd 9ish to cd 25. But haven't been up 2 it. I'll b oving in next few days so we'll have 2 get motivated. Had a quickie last nite tho.

Good luck this month Winkle. Glad your appointments not far away either.

resipsa · 04/08/2012 14:41

Mersea hope DH will be at camp to keep an eye on you Wink!

KickTheGuru · 04/08/2012 15:23

Humped last night. I reckon by latest erm...Sunday - we should hopefully get the eggie.

Told DH we will carry on humping though - just in case.

So if the LH surge is like...24 to 48 hours prior to ovulation. And you usually get a positive LH test for two to three days before that. Its a maximum then of what...5 days of humpage?

Does my math work out?

winkle2 · 04/08/2012 15:34

On SMEP plan it says to dtd on day of smiley, day after, day after that and then miss a day so your maths is correct.

Managed a quickie before on the road to Millenium Stadium!

winkle2 · 04/08/2012 15:35

To add - after you've missed a day on SMEP it says to do a final dtd.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 04/08/2012 17:00

Ok winkle two questions.

What is SMEP? And did you seriously have a quickie while travelling to the stadium? Was it in the car? Stuck in traffic? In the car park? Were you arrested?

Damn you all for making my sex life sound so dull.
