BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

Xxx

Glad to hear you are sounding a bit positive red, turns out it's a bitch of a time TTC. I never would have known before though.

Sounds like you have good grounds for a complaint to me kick, it was down right dangerous the way they have treated you!

resipsa · 02/08/2012 07:35

Kick I agree with swimming - claims not worth the heartache unless you need to claim to survive (and my job is to defend claims against GPs so I speak with experience) but all GPs are supposed to undertake analyses of cases that go wrong for whatever reason so a complaint might help you to get the answers you need (or an apology) at informal resolution stage and will help us all in the long run if lessons are learned.

Mersea - don't worry - a pregnancy this year would give you ages to come to terms with having a teenager of your own!

redstrawberry · 02/08/2012 08:50

How far into your cycle are you mersea?

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 11:18

Ooof too much wine yesterday. I think I should OV soon though so hopefully I didn't miss out on anything by passing out last night...

Whoops

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 02/08/2012 11:27

kick Grin glad to hear the relaxed approach to ttc is working well for you, I think tonight will be my night of a couple of glasses.

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 12:07

If it happens, it happens!

Enjoy that wine. My night was fabulous!!!

Kittenkatzen · 02/08/2012 14:58

I am sharing your hangover pain kick....last night consisted of large quantities of white wine, zero food intake, and 5.5 hours sleep. Was ropey as a ropey thing this morning!

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 15:01

Maybe we were out with the same people? ;)

My poor DH - I decided at 10pm that I wanted takeaways so we walked to the local shop instead and he bought me grapes. I love him >>swoons

Kittenkatzen · 02/08/2012 15:19

HA if we were then you're on my team at work and I'm looking at you across the desk right now! Shock

You told your DH you wanted takeout food and he bought you grapes?! That wouldn't get a swoon in my house - more likely a slap lol

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 15:22

winks< Looking at you!

Ok well we have no takeaway places near my house and he actually came out for a crazy-lady walk with me to go and FIND food.

I did come back with grapes and I was quite happy because that's the first time I've been able to even entertain the thought of fruit since I spent two days vomiting fruit and fruit juice.

And he cooked for me as I lay passed out on the bed. And then STILL entertained the thought of a midnight food dash Grin

Kittenkatzen · 02/08/2012 15:26

Ahhh ok, that was lovely of him then - I had thought you sent him out for a dirty chinese and he came back with a fruit bowl :o

Mersea · 02/08/2012 15:28

red I am on cd 21, had the injection to trigger ov on day 13, to be honest my cramps seem to start really early in my cycle, most strange.

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 15:30

Oh no - then I would have divorced him on the spot ;)

kidding

Mersea · 02/08/2012 15:40

reflexology tomorrow and acupuncture on Saturday, I'm getting desperate!!

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 15:41

I know you've probably answered but how long have you been TTC for?

I am watching a 1999 version of Annie. Arp

Mersea · 02/08/2012 15:44

about 18 months been on clomid for 3, hoping to get some answers soon because something must be going wrong.
don't think I've seen that version of Annie!

KickTheGuru · 02/08/2012 15:57

Argh that's rubbish! When you going to "get answers"??

Sorry that sucks :(

Yeh it's weird. Having grown up with the ugly little redhead Annie, this one is strange. Mrs Hannigan is now Kathy Baker (I think) so she went from being skinny as heck to round as heck Grin

Even Annie looks and sounds the same - but she has brown hair!

Mersea · 02/08/2012 16:18

I have another appointment with consultant in about 3 weeks time hoping he will do a few more blood test (only had day 3 bloods done) and check some other things too, feel like they should be testing for everything to see if anything is amiss. Next step is me paying for IVF, which will be crazy when they have not checked for everything before hand. I would hate for a problem to be missed that could mean the IVF implantation is affected.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 02/08/2012 19:13

mersea really hope you don't need ivf. Can't you get at least one round on the nhs?

Mersea · 02/08/2012 19:28

No not at my age I am over the cut off, unless the new rule comes in to up the age to 42. I have to make the decision to try with my own eggs or try with donor eggs from someone younger. If I go with donor it increases my chances of success so it is a weigh up between chancing my own with the cost of more than one attempt and risk of failure.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 02/08/2012 21:38

Mersea sounds like you have a lot to ponder. The ivf stuff is only if you don't conceive naturally. I know you have been trying for a long time but sometimes it takes a while.

It took my cousin 18 months to conceive (she is 14 weeks pregnant). Best of luck.

YikesHereWeGo · 02/08/2012 21:58

Hello everyone. Just catching up. You lot can talk for Team GB England! :( to all the AF's. It's a mug's game isn't it, this TTC. Oh Mersea, I really hope you don't have to go down the ivf route but if you do surely your eggs are worth a go?!
I think I'm just about entering the 2ww so going to enjoy myself in case it's my last fortnight of booze wishful thinking. Really, I know I'm in the TTC limbo lounge for a few months at least so am not getting hopes up. been doing crazy hours at work recently as a distraction tactic; it's been working pretty well so far.
Hope you girls are all well anyway. Bon courage! xx

resipsa · 02/08/2012 22:43

Yikes I'll join you in the 2WW (altho it turned out to be just a 12 day wait last month so who knows?).

Mersea Are you 41 or 42, I can't remember; sorry if I've aged you? God, it's a hard choice but I think I'd be inclined to try one of my eggs first and blow the cost. Easy to say, I appreciate but when you're 75 or whatever, I think the try will mean more than the money. Feel free to ignore me, I'm half a bottle in!

Mersea · 03/08/2012 08:59

Hi resipsa I am 40 had my birthday in March, which is the cut off date for my area. I am with you on giving mine a shot and blow the cost but I want to make sure they have done as many tests as they can first. I would like to think that I was giving it the best chance of it working, would hate to find out it was not successful just because my hormones for example could have been improved with meds first.

Fingers crossed for everyone on tww

woody17 · 03/08/2012 09:13

Finally got my BFN after mc so can properly start ttc again! Hopefully I will be on 2ww soon.

mersea is acupuncture painful? A few people have recommended it but I've never tried it.
