BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

Xxx

Sorry to hear some are feeling low at the moment. I am frustrated by the whole thing too, not knowing what is really going on. I have no EWCM and so tried 2000 EPO but still nothing. Has anyone got any suggestions on what might help? It maybe that I am not actually ov but I do get a temperature rise and the scans suggest there is follicles there, although they so seem to turn into cysts

winkle2 · 31/07/2012 22:10

Girls who are reluctant to take epo - im not taking it this month either cause I'm scared it caused my extra long cycle last month!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 31/07/2012 22:12

I have to say it has done bugger all for my ewcm. Hasn't made a bit of difference.

I think I am due to ov tomorrow. Have dtd & winkled. Bring on tomorrows stupidly stressful day at work.

Mersea · 31/07/2012 22:19

I think maybe part of the problem is I don't drink enough water plus when i was younger I had some cells removed from my cervix, which I think can have an effect. I will talk to my consultant at my next appointment as i think there is something you can take to counteract the drying effects of clomid

KickTheGuru · 31/07/2012 22:30

What about trying conceive plus? It's just a lubricant so also mimics EPO?

redstrawberry · 31/07/2012 22:35

I didn't get any ewcm last month with epo either. But I did have constant wet cm. didn't feel like it made a massive difference...although my egg and sperm did meet - so maybe it protected the sperm but at the same time I feel my 33 day cycle was longer than 29/30 prev.

Going to try conceive plus this month and skip epo

KickTheGuru · 31/07/2012 22:40

Lemme know how conceive plus goes. I have a thing about using anything that needs to say it's "safe" against spermie.

sigh

Chances of being pregnant this month are really slim. I would rather get my hba1c down a bit more so I won't be sad if I am not pregnant but I won't mind if I am. I like giving myself the choice

KickTheGuru · 31/07/2012 22:42

The thing is with EPO is that it is just meant to imcrease CM - not necessarily EWCM. It's only meant to sort of make the path up to the eggie less hazardous and give it more protection.

Conceive Plus is meant to be the same though. As is that other one...erm...what was it called?

redstrawberry · 31/07/2012 22:53

Can't remember but heard there is another one too something from s....

Can't wait till we rumpy pumpy - need to discuss conceive plus with DH not sure what he'll think. Hmm bed time! Nite nite!

winkle2 · 31/07/2012 23:15

You mean preseed

KickTheGuru · 01/08/2012 00:00

That's him!!. Did and read dh the bfg coz he never read it. He fell asleep bless him

swimmingnotdrowning · 01/08/2012 01:00

kick I was thinking about your doctor's I used to work in a lawyer's office that did medical negligence and I think that getting lawyers involved to seek compensation is invaluable when there is a permanent injury or something but otherwise the stress and effort to the affected person just wasn't worth it - the legal process is just such hard work. However I did see some mediation work where doctors would discuss what happened and sometimes even apologise and explain what they learned do that it won't happen to someone else. I just wondered if those things are important to you then it might be worth at least writing to the GP? Maybe this is too big an issue for an MN thread but it has been on my mind that I wanted to say it!

On the subject of doctors, mine is a little bit vague but very helpful and willing to do initial investigations after six cycles because of pcos which is good news I think! I seemed to know more than him about when bloods should be taken (credit to you ladies) but his willingness to help is a good sign. FX

swimmingnotdrowning · 01/08/2012 01:04

PS conceive plus is the only TTC thing that is fun (apart from the obvious!)

Newbie2 · 01/08/2012 06:24

Swimming can I ask when you think bloods should be taken?

NicolaHazel · 01/08/2012 07:06

Can you tell my H2B that, swimming, as he has refused to use it the last two months...it's an expensive drawer filler at the moment :-(

wishfulthinking1 · 01/08/2012 07:29

I know there are a couple of girls on here that didn't get on its epo, but for me it definitely increased cm- a lot! Not sure if that's what did the trick this month, but it did make dtd more enjoyable.

nicola - my dh isn't that keen on using lube either. There was someone on a thread I followed that had a special pipette-type thing that she used with the lube to put it, ahem, 'up' about 10 mins before she dtd. Would your dh be up for that? could you just not tell him?

Wishful I used that lube. It's conceive plus in individual applicators. Got them off amazon.

redstrawberry · 01/08/2012 09:04

Ah! hello August...Another ttc journey...Bring it on!

I am still waiting for this annoying AF spotting to stop. It seems to be very on and off. With regards to conceive plus, DH is excited to try it out. I love him. The box says you can insert it 10-15mins before sexual activity so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I have the applicator ones as they go deep inside near the cervix.

Also the 'what to expect' book says something about getting a lot of sleep in the 2ww which helps implantation. I had a lot of late nights and lack of sleep last month. So going to try that out...anything that helps.

wishful good to see you lurking :)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 01/08/2012 09:23

Thanks for the tip on lots of sleep red this could be my problem. Dd is a shocking sleeper so maybe that is why I am struggling to implant?

Hope af stops soon and you can got on with the shag fest.

Kittenkatzen · 01/08/2012 09:46

Morning girls......so it seems like af has taken up residency on this thread at the moment! Fingers crossed that means a nice synchronised round of August bfps for everyone :)

kick maybe you could read the BFG to all of us to help with the good night's sleep required in the 2ww!

redstrawberry · 01/08/2012 09:49

morning kitten yes kick a BFG read sounds good :)

Has anyone seen kittykats? thinking of you x

KickTheGuru · 01/08/2012 09:52

He is always cute when he falls asleep. He mumbles in his sleep as well... :)

swimming Yeh I don't want to go down the "suing" route. I made the decision to stop working and all that stuff but I am just more angry with what they've done. I will complain to the NHS and potentially write a letter to them but I am really not the kind of person who wants to do the lawyer thing to a doctors. Anyway, thanks for your advice - I will definitely take it up.

Yay on your doctor though! I have a preconception clinic coming up and I'm requesting fertility druggage! Grin

red We also bought the "what to expect" book after our episode in December Blush But maybe I will give it a read. I've hidden it since Xmas day and haven't been able to look at it, but maybe its worth the read?

redstrawberry · 01/08/2012 10:18

Been reading about your phone call from docs kick - they deserve a good kick up the butt. Make that complaints letter a strong one - let it all out. STUPID, ignorant pricks..

Yes my initial reaction was to hide it in a drawer and not look at it again. But then I dont know it was like one of those crazy days yesterday where I decided to not dwell on the cp and deal with all the emotions. I even downloaded the What to Expect app. I slowly deleted all the due date info from the app and my calendar. Each deletion involved a large bite of cheesecake and a sip of wine. Now I feel better :) Its happened - can't do anything about it, out of my control. I can only hope for a better August.

KickTheGuru · 01/08/2012 10:20

It's amazing how quickly our minds heal though. It is something that you have to manage but well done, you can't dwell on it. You can't hide from it. And you can't let it get you down.

Good on you mate :)

Mersea · 01/08/2012 18:42

Hi all had the worst day at work 15 teenagers all kicking off and shouting and swearing at each other, surprised I still want kids of my own Grin

Thanks for the tip with conceive plus will give it a try.

Not sure I have been successful this month starting to get af twinges
