A friendly, supportive thread for those taking a blooming long time to conceive!

OP posts:
MuddyWellyNelly · 10/07/2012 15:23

Haha it could be fun planning the menu Grin. Pâté or goats cheese? Sushi? Or carbonara with raw egg? Pudding? Boozy trifle? Wink.

MuddyWellyNelly · 10/07/2012 15:28

Oh feeling sexy. Well I'm wearing a pencil skirt with a naughty split up the front of one leg, and killer heels. But my roots need done to hide the grey and my fingernails haven't seen polish in years!

It's telling isn't it that when I'm finished doing the hobbles of an evening, I smarten up for dinner by putting on jeans. Or my PJs Grin

lemon my AMH will be done by the private clinic. NHS haven't mentioned it.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 10/07/2012 15:30

You've got to finish the night with a massive cheese plate with freshly imported raw cheeses and port :) I could get into this!

Thanks for the AMH info nelly and why did you decide to get it tested (am moving back to head in sand mode quickly). I don't really want to know if I have fried eggss.

Poutintrout · 10/07/2012 15:40

Am loving the sexy outfit lemons. The blanket really sets it off!
Like you nelly I dress down for dinner. In fact MrP doesn't tend to see me dressed at all during the week. That sounds more sexy than the reality of the fact that I am in my PJ's when he leaves the house and back in them again by the time he comes home!

The NHS suggested the AMH. We had to pay £45 at the cashiers office at the hospital to have it done. Apparently they have some kind of arrangement with someone & that is cheap???????

Am liking the Barren's version of Preggos Don't Come Dine With Me

My contribution is a seafood platter.

mrsden · 10/07/2012 15:40

I like your style princess. Planning a pregnant scary menu would amuse me. Although shes actually French so I suspect she's still guzzling wine, soft cheese and pate. It just didn't occur to dh that them being pregnant might upset me, he really doesn't get why the lives of others affect me. And my rational self understands this. But I my feelings aren't rational. I'm just fed up at being in that tiny percent. Is it really only 1 % after 2 years?

It's our anniversary this week, 5 years. So depressing to think we're not pregnant. I shouldn't care what others thing but I know people will be wondering why were not getting on with it.

Sorry, I sound like a right moaning Minnie. I promise this is just af and I'll be more cheery in a couple of days.

Pout, finding out there is something wrong is pretty crap too. But I get the frustration at being told all is ok but where the onions is the baby?

mrsden · 10/07/2012 15:42

Chuckle at preggos come dine with me. I love you lot, always manage to cheer me up. Thank you x

Poutintrout · 10/07/2012 15:51

Sorry mrsd if I was insensitive. I realise that I ought to be reassured that all is well. It's weird (and ungrateful of me) that it has the opposite effect!

That stat is a bit more complicated than I stated. I think it is something like 97% of healthy couples fall pregnant within a year and then the remaining 2% or something fall pregnant within the second year. Gah, I wish I could remember it properly now. Whatever it is more than a wee bit depressing when you find yourself over the 2 year mark and counting!

BTW I absolutely understand what you mean about the dinner party. MrP has rants at me about resenting other peoples lives & the fact that other peoples pregnancies cause me unhappiness. His last comment on this was how he has no interest on other peoples lives and I shouldn't think about it either. The thing is it is unavoidable I think to compare oneself to others. I find myself reflecting all the time on 'what I have done wrong' or how I am being punished.

Poutintrout · 10/07/2012 15:52

That made no sense at all....

rabbitonthemoon · 10/07/2012 16:11

I bring rare steak to the party. And champagne for celebrating - oh you can't have any can you pregnant one, all the more for me Smile

pout yay for shit doctor handwriting and good follies - this is good! I also think my eggs are mostly fooked. My pct doesn't do the amh test and my cons left it at that. I am hoping I never have to find out but suspect it is a bit pants. Bloody hell at 45 quid being cheap - fertility makes money have different values doesn't it? Like if someone said I could have ivf for 3k I'd think it was a steal - I wouldn't about very much else. The thing is with eggs is that people with dismal eggs do conceive. I try to comfort myself in thinking that not all eggs are the same and that eventually a good un will hatch. sarlet reading about your ivf experiences really made me think about that, eggs are all unique aren't they?

princess jealous of the sexy pants!!! How wrong is it that I wondered where you had been shopping Grin I am still mostly in yoga pants as they are comfy and protective of my scar. Can't imagine sexy pants for a while but I am feeling a lot more interested in things I'd let go haywire such as brows/nails/hair so maybe that will get me pregnant! I could do with tackling my ladybush but waxing of that area out of the question! You deserve an amazing indulgent weekend.

mrsd I couldn't bear that, you really have had exposure to bumps this year. When is your ivf?

joycep just think you are in the middle of being processed in Greece! I really hope it presents some answers for you and that your sleuthing has been worthwhile.

buzzy is this post af sludge? Do you think it's the hormones etc you are taking.

lemons total empathy with the brain mush. Well done for walking.

missm glad things got smoothed over in the end.

Pout I don't know about the pictures but I do live with one and they are supposed to be a fertility symbol! Also I always see a rabbit on the moon and not a face.

rabbitonthemoon · 10/07/2012 16:17

Oh and pout my cons said it was 80% in a year, 90% in two years and 95% in three, in natural cycles. After that chances slim but not impossible. And then that 50 per cent of the rest with assisted conception get there in the end. Which I guess takes us to 97.5 people do it eventually? So that leaves us in the ten per cent at the moment which feels more safe Smile

carrieonlaughing · 10/07/2012 16:27

We need a BFP come on people we must try harder

buzzybee123 · 10/07/2012 16:47

princess you cracked me up Grin and loving the 'preggo come dine with me'

rabbit i'm on cd 19 and hoping to ovulate

I did a sneaky poas and got a smiley face at last, so I thought I might surprise Mr B tonight but now I think I'll wait until tomorrow as his lazy sperm might fall asleep if we do it too early

mrsden · 10/07/2012 17:23

Pout you weren't being insensitive. Sorry if I made it sou d like I thought you were being. All I meant was that when I found out what was wrong, my world crashed in because it is something that can't be solved without ivf. Of course the best situation is to be told there is something wro g but there is an easy fix. I'm not sure that ever happens with sub fertility though. Not having an answer and having an answer are equally rubbish!

Poutintrout · 10/07/2012 18:07

mrsd It's peculiar isn't it that we are on opposite sides of the spectrum with regard to diagnosis but the feeling is still shite! I guess the only comfort at the end of the day will be a baby Smile

In the clinic today I was scrutinising all the obviously pregnant ladies sat in Ante Natal and getting the right hump and noticing all the reasons why it didn't seem fair to me that they had the bump and I don't. This wasn't helped by the lady at reception who didn't even know who her GP was or what the surgery was called Confused or the fact that she could barely be arsed to stand up straight and was kind of draped all over the desk.

Rabbit I am pretty much of the same view as you about eggs and egg quality & that at some point the golden egg will hatch. I want to believe that at some point the planets will align and everything, baby making wise, will do what it's supposed to do at the right time.

Yay to smiley face buzzy Get those boots on Grin

princesschick · 10/07/2012 18:31

Hmmm...very quickly before I continue with the house work like a good wife. My GP tested my AMH level because she thought my double periods (sounds a bit high school)....try again...my twice monthly ERTD could have been the early menopause. I don't think I mentioned this bit before because when she said that it could be the early menopause I completely freaked out. Then I went back and no, don't worry dear it's not the early menopause, but I'm glad we checked. When I saw the consultant he was Shock that she had done it; I didn't even pick up on it on my test and he asked if I'd asked her to test my AMH levels - THE CHEEK! To which I was very indignant about telling him, "no I didn't ask for that test and I didn't even know it had been done. Is it ok?". My levels of AMH were good for my age (sorry not boasting, just adding a happy ending to this particular chapter - Chapter 134 of TTC Princess visits the consultant and has a disucssion about another kind of hormone - AMH (the one that sounds a bit yogurty). Now I know that the NHS doesn't like to test I now understand his reaction.

Pout this is ridiculous that they are charging to do a blood test. Isn't the NHS supposed to be Free at the point of delivery? I'm glad that you had a ruptured follicle and had misread the notes. This is encouraging. Words of wisdom from my DH? "When you're balls deep, keep f**king" I think this fits your situation perfectly Wink

I don't like those stats either and I have read them. We are the TTC equivalents of the raggy dolls.

Buzzy Yay for :) on your piss stick. What's that noise I can hear.... a zip.... Grin

Rabbit I went online shopping this morning when I should have been working. Dad - it's like this, Grandchild or Real Work? I imagine that him and mum will send us a Barry White CD and a bottle of plonk for our anniversary....I don't think he'd be too worried. Anyway, I purchased a few items from Figleaves. I thought about going to the really lovely shop around the corner where there is a french lady who can measure naked boobies accurately with her eyes - she's incredible. Last time I went (with DH's credit card the afternoon before our wedding day) she managed to get several hundred pounds of merchandise out of her store (I was also tipsy, sleep deprived and desperate to get packed for honeymoon she also complimented by boobies and got me in some great items which I couldn't leave behind). I managed to keep it to just over a hundred pounds on-line today. French lady "guardian of amazing undercrackers" too dangerous whilst I'm in this mood...... You'll be back in sexy knickers before you know it :) And some treats i.e. manicure, brow wax, facial, reflexology would be lovely for you right now and would not interfere with your wound. Do it!

MrsD have you had your results back yet? Or have you got a couple more weeks to wait. Don't worry about moaning. We all takes turns. It will pass. You're doing very well. French people don't like junk food. Perhaps you could get greasy take out / mcdonalds for your party?

Lemons you sound v.sophisticated in your long floaty dress. I like.

Oh and my phone is finally on its way home. I have been sans mobile for nearly a month!

Right that took longer than planned... back to the cleaning...

buzzybee123 · 10/07/2012 19:13

princess boots are for tomorrow night Wink I'm a massive fan of Rigby and Peller bras, they fit so beautifully but are so Shock expensive. Its where the Queen goes for her 'fundies' supposedly

GinSoaked · 10/07/2012 20:09

Wow, busy busy thread! I'm sure this will be a crap catchup, but I'll do my best!

lemon so pleased all went well with the lap

CritterPants · 10/07/2012 20:18

Hello hello

I am loving the ways to get one's mojo back - I definitely feel that I need to get my sexy on, as Justin T would say. My sister brought me some gorgeous Italian underwear when she came to visit, and was laughing at my numerous ratty old nude coloured t-shirt bras that have gone greyish brown in the wash. She was looking fab and inspired me to spruce up my act a little - I haven't had my hair done since November, and I've put on a few pounds since living in the US, which is terrifyingly easy to do here. So I'm going to make an appointment to get my highlights done and eat a few more salads. I may even wax my 'fine and feathery' lobster area! Grin

buzzy I went into Rigby and Peller with a friend once, who was getting herself some underwear - it was all wood paneling, tufted sofas and stocky, sensible shop ladies - and it's also where my wedding underwear came from. Love it.

princess great news about the AMH. Nice to hear some positive results! Grin at AMH sounding 'yogurty'. I can hear the Activia advert now!

lemon well done on surviving your lap like a champ, and I hope you are recovering in style in your floaty outfit. Your mum sounds like a gem.

carrie how are you? Hope you are ok.

pout it's great that you had the scan and that everything looked good - but frustrating to not know why you haven't been lucky yet. Will you have more monitoring?

missm you will LOVE Maine - go north to Bar Harbor, it's on an island which is a national park (Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island) - it's a sweet little seaside town right on the doorstep of stunning mountains and lakes. You'll be there in time to pick the last of the wild blueberries. Bring layers as it can get a little chilly in the evenings - and good walking shoes and a swimsuit to go swimming in the lakes. If you decide to include it on your itinerary, let me know and I'll pm you details of an amazing outdoor swimming spot!

mrsd sorry to hear about the preggo dinner invitee. Loving the suggestions of a seafood platter and pate starter. And sorry about the arrival of ERTD.

Waves to everyone I've missed - euro, joyce, rabbit and nelly and everyone else who I have inexplicably forgotten. I am trying to waft some of this heat over your way. I hear it's been an awful summer at home - people complain about the heat here, but at least we have air con.

carrieonlaughing · 10/07/2012 20:35

Yup I have read 50 shades book one and two and didn't like them! Far too silly. Everyone wants to either kill him or have sex with him. The sex is quite samey and the lady 'ana' comes across as very simple and not enough balls for me lol. Having said that I read two just to be sure I didn't like them lol.
I don't own a single nude or white bra. My underwear is something I have to spend money on being very busty and if its not black/red or purple then its not sexy enough. I have more underwear drawers than I do normal drawers. Always time to be sexy even when knackered. I have even insisted OH got rid of his joggers and now he has to wear lounge pants. I can't be doing with all running jogging pants with holes in as his slacks lol
I think we all need cheering up. The things we could do while not being pregnant was good. I am going to day what I am thankful for and today its my DD who's school report was excellent. For friends that deal with my grumpy moods and haven't dumped me and my OH for getting rid of the joggers lol

buzzybee123 · 10/07/2012 20:55

critter Grin at your lobster area, I got my wedding underwear from there too, yes very sensible ladies, very proper indeed.

carrie I heard the book was over rated so haven't bothered, i've got a pretty good imagination so don't think the book would do much for me, good idea about what to be thankful for and yay to mini carrie getting an excellent report. I am very thankful for my wonderful Mr B, I couldn't imagine life without him

sarlat · 10/07/2012 21:11

Hello

I really can't keep up at the moment - it's been a busy few days so had to skim read.

Pout - hoorah for the burst follicle.

Lemon - great news about the lap - although I appreciate the perfect health diagnosis is also frustrating.

Princess - wow at the wedding and getting your mojo back

Rabbit - your acu lady talke sense - I guess it will take time - big hugs for the distress. Also, will come back to you about IVF - NHS stuff.

Purple -sorry about the UTI - there appears to be a few of them circulating the boards at the moment.

First of alL - Northern meet up. I'm really excited and looking forward to it. I think it will make us feel like Princess post crazy fun wedding. I will suggest some venues Artemis.

New woo AKA Mayan abdominal massage..........

Had it yesterday evening and I was there over 2.5 hours. Lovely lady who did it. Went through long case history of physcial, emotional stuff etc. She was very interested in things like fibroids etc - Rabbitt!!!!

Mayan massage is to enable the life force of the woman - the womb to be re-positioned and work at optimum. It is believed that woman's health is affected by the womb and emotions are channelled in to the womb.

She began by assesing my pelvis and said my womb is tilted to left and low - this is correct as I have seen this in scans for myself and I know my cervix is leaning to the side also, from when I have self checked. She also said my pelvic bones were off centre. She did a deep massage to the abdomen to strengthen the ligaments which support the womb and directly works to move it back in to position. Then she massaged my solar plexis - this hurt a lot. This is about improving emotional problems. Finally she turned me on my back and gently manipulated my hips, thigh and rubbed the bottom of my back to re-align me. This was pleasant. She was able to straighten me up straight away.

Then she taught me the self cares which are to self rub the abdomen in a special way. I am also to do vaginal steams. Bascially sitting over a bowl of hot water and herbs and a castor oil pack. This caster oil thing is rubbing oil, under a towel and then pressed against the abdomem. You have to wrap in cling film to keep it on and sleep like that. The ideas is this may break down the fluid in my tube.

Afterwards, I felt lighter and taller. I checked my cervical position when I got home. The os is now in the centre for the first time ever!! So it has shifted position which is amazing. I now have to try and maintain this.

For me she thinks re-aligning the womb may improve the womb lining as tilted wombs literally have corners and crevices where the blood stagnates. Also the tilted womb may pull the fallopian tube out of position so it doesn't catch the egg in a seemingly normal cycle.

So I am going to have 2 more sessions as advised. The lady on the other fertility website said it helped her (similar condition to me).

I think this technique could help anyone with structural type problems e.g. tubal or fibriods etc - RABBITT!! Also, anyone with undiagnosed label just in case a tilted womb is to blame along with ovary which isnn't dropping an egg in to the basket.

Hope I have explained the above ok. xx

buzzybee123 · 10/07/2012 21:23

thanks for sharing sarlat, it sounds really interesting, I'm going to look it up now

eurochick · 10/07/2012 21:46

Evening ladies. Just a quick one from me. I went to see the gynae this afternoon to follow up on my dodgy smear. The bad news is that the second smear showed mild/moderate changes (so worse than the mild shown on the first smear) and the HPV test was positive for the cancer causing HPV 16. So I need to have a LLETZ to remove the dodgy cells, which I am currently freaking out about.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself right now - now baby and a broken fanjo.

OP posts:
rabbitonthemoon · 10/07/2012 22:12

euro that totally sucks, I'm so sorry. I know it's a horrible obstacle but you will get through it. Hugs.

sarlet I need to meet this lady! 4 more months and I will be banging down her door. Will be able to chat about it on Sunday, yay!

critter I'd love to go to rigby and peller but would they be any good for a small boobed girl?

gin good luck with the cbfm being dusted off.

carrieonlaughing · 10/07/2012 22:34

Bad news Euro but great that its been caught early enough to do something about it. Get sorted ASAP so you can get back to it
