Shiny new thread - over here everyone Smile

OP posts:
CaliBee · 06/10/2012 09:28

Thankyou ladies .....anybody would think my positive OPK was a BFP.
I have used the cheapy internet tests for 2 cycles now and if I'm honest I was never that confident of reading if it was a positive result or not. As my clearblue fertility monitor gave up on me due to my long cycles I did go out and buy a small pack of the clearblue sticks yesterday and having messed up the first test yesterday evening I am now pleased to say I had a lovely smiley face this morning.
Hopeful ...I never ever thought that at my age I would be about to become a SWAG, but I'm determined to support OH through this. However watching Homefront (ITV's Thursday night drama) is not too encouraging, even OH felt uncomfortable with me watching it. He begins basic training in Yorkshire on 28th October and will only be home for one weekend before Christmas. There may be a couple of long weekends between Christmas and April when his basic training is finished. He will then be posted to either Edinburgh, Northern Ireland, Cheptow or one of a couple of places further south, and at some point will be off to Afghanistan :(.
I have just had a read back at previous posts (really this thread is veeeeery long) and can soo feel the highs and lows of all the things we go through as ttc'ers. Last week I was feeling so low as I tried to come to terms with the fact that my ageing body was very probably giving up on me and here I am today feeling full of optimism and sexy as hell, all due to a smiley face on a peed on stick! I can feel so many of you going through exactly the same thing.....be it coping with recent miscarriage or trying frantically to work out if your bodies will give you any more chances. What I'm trying to say is I feel all your lows and highs with you. I'm so very glad I found this thread xxx

goldengirl71 · 06/10/2012 09:41

Morning! Tina, hang on in there, love. I was looking on fertility friend this morning and only a quarter of pregnant women have tender breasts at 12dpo. (I, personally, am mystified with the notion of 'tender breasts'; even when pregnant I've never experienced them. However, during sex last night DP tweaked my nip a little enthusiastically and it hurt far more than it would normally - having ironclad nips - so I charted it on FF as 'tender breasts'!) I'm glad your DH is being caring. Good luck, love x

Gum, I hope you have the most wonderful holiday, love x

Irish, so nice to hear from you. I cannot believe you have bled for seven weeks after your miscarriage - awful for you. I do hope this AF has a cleansing effect and you feel ready to move on. Hugs to you x

Thanks, all, for cheering on my temps. Have a look at this morning's temperature: www.fertilityfriend.com/home/goldengirl71. Ought I be excited? I've POAS and got a BFN but, then again, it is only 12DPO and I only got a positive at 13DPO when I was pregnant. Bloody nightmare trying not to get excited! I can't help it - I've never not had a downward trajectory at 12DPO. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?? Confused

goldengirl71 · 06/10/2012 09:49

Irish, I want to thank you for your post. Your kind words are encouraging and cheering Smile (and Little Ted & Maureen are very chuffed at your compliment - yours, too, Gum!)

Mia'sMummy, thanks for the tip, although I always take my temp twice about a minute apart in case I've spent the entire night with my gob open sucking in the night air. I then use the highest temp.

goldengirl71 · 06/10/2012 10:59

Fertilty Friend: '64.8% of positive pregnancy tests are reported before 12 DPO '. That means loads of women only test positive after 12DPO, then! Grin

woollywomble · 06/10/2012 11:02

Morning everyone. Thanks for your welcomes and hello to Notsoold.

CaliBee - good luck, hope you manage to hit the jackpot! It must be really hard having an OH that's away from home (especially when you need him at crucial times!).

Hopefulgum - I feel that DH's age is as much an issue as mine - he worries about the financial implications of everything, especially as we are both self-employed. If the last pregnancy had worked out he would have been 70 when the DC was 18 and he wants to be able to look forward to a comfortable retirement. I on the other hand, would be happy to eat baked beans during our retirement if it made DC3 possible... Hope you have a lovely relaxing holiday - it's raining here again so am very envious. Our 'holiday' this year consisted of three days in a tent in a field next to a railway line.

GG- You have already given me some really useful advice, so thank you. Have now joined fertility friend and ordered digital thermometer. I really hope you get your BFP again soon, despite going through such a painful time so many of your posts still manage to make me laugh.

IrishMammyBread - I remember you replying to my thread in the miscarriage section when it was all very raw for me and you were very kind, thank you for that. It really is cathartic to share these stories I've found. Hopefully your cycle is all back to normal now and you can start to get back on track with ttc.

Anyway, planning on having Wine for the first time in ages tonight, so will probably be a gibbering wreck by 8pm.

goldengirl71 · 06/10/2012 11:41

Womble, dear, if you're pissed by eight can you come on here and talk absolute nonsense so that my irrelevant blatherings don't seem quite so mental?

I'm glad you have been able to laugh a little. When I need to cheer myself up/scream at the telly I watch Nigella Lawson. She really is a filthy bitch and I can see why blokes may find themselves stuffing a chicken and dreaming of her. Personally, I wish she'd take her heaving, upper-class tits and fuck off Grin

hopefulgum · 06/10/2012 12:11

Just popping on to say "seeya later", as we do in Oz. We're leaving early tomorrow morning,so probably won't get on in the morning.

Golden!!!I'm very excited about your temperature. Can't wait to see what happens.

Woolly, enjoy your glass of wine.

Well, I must dash, have to dish up dinner.

See you in a week.Smile

goldengirl71 · 06/10/2012 16:37

Bye-bye, Gum! We'll miss you, chuck! xx

goldengirl71 · 06/10/2012 20:07

Calibee, in all the excitement this morning I missed your post. How rude! You must be dreading DP going away. I hope you have a great and supportive network of friends and family to get you through the inevitable tough times. I'm glad you found this thread, too Smile

I can't contain my excitement, I'm afraid. 12DPO and a raise in temp?! It's never been known on my charts. DP refuses to match my hopeful excitement - he doesn't trust thermometers, fertility friend, pregnancy test kits or my predictions. The boy has sense Hmm

Irishmammybread · 06/10/2012 20:56

Bon voyage Hopeful !

Ooh Golden, chart looks encouraging, tender nips.....you never know!
I've never had an early BFP when I've tested before my AF due even when I've been pregnant.
Sorry for causing confusion with my post, my MC was only 5 weeks ago as I had to wait for a few weeks before I actually started to miscarry naturally and the bleeding had stopped even when the EPU said the scan showed things weren't complete so it's not been continuous. (We even managed to dtd again last week which was lovely and at least we know everything still works!) I did feel faint and dizzy again at work today which hasn't happened for a few weeks hopefully that will settle down again.

Calibee I'm sure it must be a big worry for you leading up to your OH going away, it's such a courageous thing to be doing ,you must be very proud of him. It's a huge sacrifice you both have to make, you really deserve a BFP! If he's not actually abroad will you be able to join him where he's stationed if he has any time off ?

Tina glad you had a good week off with DH,I wouldn't worry about lack of symptoms so early,I suppose all you can do now is try to relax and wait(lot easier said than done!!).

Womble hope you enjoyed your wine!

DH and DS have gone off to see Radiohead in concert tonight. I didn't get a ticket because when we booked them in March I was preg and should have been about 2 weeks off my due date now so I feel a bit down, it's just another reminder. However I've made chocolate chip cookies AND millionaire shortbread with the DDs and we're watching the X factor together so it's a girly night in!

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 08:15

LOOK!!: www.fertilityfriend.com/home/goldengirl71

I've also had a BFN......what does it all mean? Fertility Friend says my chart is 'triphasic', which can indicate pregnancy Hmm

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 08:32

[sings to Irish]: I'm a freak....I'm a weirdo-o-o... Wink

lotsofcheese · 07/10/2012 08:33

Ooooh golden!!!!! crossing everything for you!!

hopeful have a wonderful holiday - it looks such a beautiful place

Tina hang in there. FWIW I've never had pregnancy symptoms before BFP, in any of my 4 pregnancies. Usually not until a week or more after....

miasmummy will be thinking of you over the next wee while & hoping you get through the inquest ok

Irish glad things have finally settled down after m/c.

Sorry if I've missed anyone!

CaliBee · 07/10/2012 09:01

Golden I really hope this is it for you .....stay positive x

Irish Hopefully depending on which part of the country he is posted in he will be able to come home most weekends. Hope your boys had a great time...that must have been a tough reminder :(

Tina fingers and toes crossed for you x

Ok ladies...advice needed. OPK's now positive for a third day. Is this normal????

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 14:30

Calibee, once you have registered an LH surge you shouldn't test again. You can expect to ovulate between 12 and 36 hours after you've had a positive OPK. What OPKs are you using? An LH surge should only last a matter of hours.

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 14:34

Tomorrow is the date my miscarried baby was due (8th). Wouldn't it be divine if it is also the date I get my BFP?!

woollywomble · 07/10/2012 16:40

Fingers (and toes) crossed for you GG!

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 17:05

Thanks, Womble. I'm so afraid of my period coming. I am due today but my temperature is so high I don't know what to think. I think another BFN tomorrow will crumple me.

somewherebecomingrain · 07/10/2012 18:04

Golden am crossing everything for you that can b crossed. And Tina. Xxxxxx

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 18:25

Thanks, Somewhere. I am sorry to everyone for keep coming on here today but I'm going cer-razy. I've just thrown up and I haven't had my tea yet - feel so nauseous. If my period comes tomorrow and these temperatures have all been one huge joke I will never trust my body, or fertility friend, or thermometers, or cervical mucus ever again!

lotsofcheese · 07/10/2012 18:41

golden just wondering what type of pregnancy test you're using? I'm a great believer in First Response (4 days early) - the pink dye & high sensitivity make it a winner! I really hope it's a positive test for you tomorrow...

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 19:10

Hiya, Cheese, love. I'm using One Step (6p for five million). I've realised that when I was pregnant, and my BFP appeared on 13DPO, it was actually CD28. This month, although today is 13DPO, I am only on CD27 (because I ovulated a day early on CD14). Maybe this explains why today was still a BFN?

littlepinkfizz · 07/10/2012 19:24

golden been off the boards for a few days as ss and the 2ww doing my head in. Not even ss but what symptoms to look for ! So so so happy for all the positive signs you are getting. As cheese says, use a FRER as they are v accurate. Keeping absolutely everything crossed for you.

Hi to all you other girls! Will be reading back to catch up.af due on 13 and will try my best not to test until then . But tiniest thread of blood this evening when wiping so fear that AF on her wicked way very early Sad

goldengirl71 · 07/10/2012 20:06

Pink, blood could be implantation spotting, no? Implantation takes place between 7 & 10 DPO but can occur slightly earlier or later.

P.s..what is 'ss'?

littlepinkfizz · 07/10/2012 20:19

Thanks golden but I doubt it.. Not getting my hopes up at all.

SS - symptom spotting as opposed to the Secret Service!

So excited for you! When are you testing? X
