Dulcet does Zita say anything about sperm being sluggish if it's not used often enough prior to ovulation? I'm enjoying your Zita knowledge :)

NicolaHazel · 09/07/2012 19:47

Ooh...I've ordered one of her books. Can't wait to have a read through of it :-)

DulcetMoans · 09/07/2012 19:49

Well, let me turn to the Understanding Male fertility section of my book...

She says saving up sperm for ovulation does not make it more potent and whilst quantity might increase to a point, quality deteriorates. There is a case study about a man that worked abroad two weeks at a time so only DTD when he was home. Analysis showed fewer than 5% mobility due to the wait in between. I guess from that you could say lack of frequency could negatively affect it.

NicolaHazel · 09/07/2012 20:21

So, basically, if your bloke is going to be away for a while, you need to encourage him to w*nk regularly while he's gone?!?!

DulcetMoans · 09/07/2012 20:24

I think that is the medical advice! haha!!

Newbie2 · 09/07/2012 20:30

Oooohhh that's interesting Zita! I should stop being lazy and get back to DTD before AF arrives then!

Newbie2 · 09/07/2012 20:32

Thank you Dulcet for looking up another fascinating Zita fact :)

Newbie2 · 09/07/2012 20:55

Well tomorrow is D day! If it's not a BFP we will know for sure!

DulcetMoans · 09/07/2012 21:35

At least the wait will be over newbie! Have you got the test ready?

NicolaHazel · 09/07/2012 21:35

Surely P day?!?!

Fx for you.

Popinda · 09/07/2012 21:37

newbie not necessary, some women don't get bfp week after they missed their period! Smile I'm so helpful, am I not? Grin
dulcet I'm enjoying your knowledge too! Grin

Well, I can't take the credit really. I'm just repeating Zita West stuff! I'm trying to have one main point of reference cos the internet tells you too much!

Good luck newbie!

Newbie2 · 09/07/2012 21:48

Dulcet yep it's patiently sitting in the bathroom cabinet. I don't really trust it but it might prove me wrong!

Pop seriously? AF was meant to arrive today. I can't wait any longer. Are you saying that even if I get a negative it might change in a weeks time. Uhhhh! I've heard of BFPs arriving even If you have AF but not the other way round.

letsdothisthing · 09/07/2012 22:39

Hi everyone, just checking in! Good luck for the morning Newbie, fx for the BFP!! What time will you be testing? Hopefully I'll see it before I get to work!

Going off topic but do you all test with your DH/DP? I was talking to my friend in work about this a few days ago and she said she found out she was pg in the works toilet on her own, I may just be overly sentimental or scared shitless but I want DH there with me when I find out :)

He works shifts so when it's time to test will have to wait for a morning he's home, so excited to test and haven't even ov'd yet! May have a sneaky wine to chill out now, night everyone :)

mumbaisapphire · 10/07/2012 00:18

Confused as hell this cycle. Currently CD24, and have had tonnes of ewcm from CD19-24. Cycles of late have been 35 days, so if I ovulated yesterday (which I thpught I did - convinced I could feel the twinges) then that would mean an LP of 13 days or so. But I am still getting ewcm...i thought that was supposed to stop and you were dry immediately after ovulation. I keep thinking now (and slightly panicking!) that all this ewcm means I am gearing up to ov, but not actually ov'ing. We DTD on CD6, 9, 11, 17, 20 & 23. Will be glad when the ov sticks arrive and might try to start temping, but it seems very complicated. So I will test on 20th July and see what happens, but I'm not confident.

NicolaHazel · 10/07/2012 06:28

I think it is hard to read your body, to be honest. If I don't fall this month, I'll be glad of the certainty of the CB OV tests. I'd just keep DTD until AF...at least you've covered all bases then!

We DTD last night...CD20, so not much point, conception-wise. Nice though! :-)

NicolaHazel · 10/07/2012 06:28

Newbie...where are you?!

Newbie2 · 10/07/2012 07:12

I'm here :) Arrrgghhh such a build up for nothing! Cheapie Internet stick says BFN :( And still no arrival of AF :(

Newbie2 · 10/07/2012 07:17

lets I started off testing when DH was around but then this morning he had left for work already and I didn't really think about it. He knew I was testing...maybe next month when I've accrued some patience I'll wait for him to be around. Think you've just got to do what works for you at the time :)

NicolaHazel · 10/07/2012 07:19

Oh no, I'm sorry, Newbie :-( Here's to next month. Whenever it starts!

I test with H2B at home, but would do it if he wasn't there, if I had to! That's what Whatsapp is for, ha ha!

letsdothisthing · 10/07/2012 07:32

Oh sorry Newbie, where is AF then - at least when it comes you'll know where you are, still doesn't make it any easier though :(

Yeah I think you're right about the testing, suppose when I get a bit further down the line I'll be POAS wherever and whenever :o

Newbie2 · 10/07/2012 07:33

I'm thinking that if AF doesn't turn up by tomorrow then I'll start using my CBFM tomorrow morning anyway I realise that sounds insane only because I know roughly when I'm meant to OV so surely pretending that AF has arrived is the best thing really as then I'll know my high fertility days do not want to miss those again as well as peak fertility day. What do you think? Sensible or insane?

NicolaHazel · 10/07/2012 07:39

I don't think it will hurt. You can always reset when AF does arrive.

Newbie2 · 10/07/2012 08:09

Nicola Well exactly, I'll just reset! It sounds to me like I'm going to have a long 72+ cycle like Mclairey did. It's good to know you can still get pregnant though even if it means I'm missing 2 AF's in a row! I will have to keep a beady eye on the calendar!

NicolaHazel · 10/07/2012 08:22

Did you have the withdrawal bleed?

Maybe you just need to up the ante with the DTD this month as now you know you're ovulating, you'll have a better chance of catching it!

Though it is still all bloody luck!
