I was just wondering how many of the ttc people were in their late 30s or 40s.

I am 38 and started ttc this year. It would be nice if we could support each other.

THANKYOU!!!!

Hi Girls, haven't been on for a while, was on my hols. JBW hope your ms is more tolerable. Angathase, good to hear AF is back and things are on track. I am not far behind your AF, with my first AF after mc/ing -came on whilst on holiday and started BDing almost as soon as it stopped. Congrats TFT!Let's hope your good fortune rubs off...Did anyone see the Panorama programme the other day? Quite depressing statistics, but at least there is more of us in the same boat giving each other support- perhaps the government will recognise the valid reasons for women putting off pregancy, as it does help the national ecomony in some ways. Perhaps they will put some government funds into free egg freezing for women who choose to have babies later in their life,as it's only going to cost the NHS anyway in the end if they have conception problems when they do want to try. Lots of luck to the rest of us and of course..

Just re-read my post, terrible grammar, " but at least there are more of us" it should be...Have a good weekend all and good luck to all testing, have fun BD 'ing or what ever else that you might be doing on this potentially sunny lovely weekend

Dear princessb, Hi just thought that I would reply to your posting. At the moment I am 16 weeks pregnant, and fingers crossed everything is going very well.I must have got pregnant days after my last posting in march.I cant say that emotionally this has been an easy pregnancy, but we are so very glad to have this chance to experience all this again.Even though I had the two miscarriages last year,I was still lucky to be able to get pregnant three times in one year at the age of 43.So all you ttc dont give up, it can be done.good luck princessb I hope the same happens for you too. lots of love stingray.

Nicola63 · 01/07/2006 10:06

Hello stingray, I hope things go well for you. I will be turning 43 next month and am very down about it. No kids and two m/c's in the last fourteen months, and feeling rather desperate about it all (lots of tests have revealed nothing specific wrong). Your story is very encouraging and I send you lots of good wishes! I know that if I do get pg again it will be very emotionally difficult after what has happened, and I do feel for you.

K1K2 · 04/07/2006 23:20

That's such encouraging news to us all, Stingray... 2nd AF due on Friday following mc, and though I haven't posted anywhere up until now about it this month, things do feel as though I could be pg, as I felt b4 with pg in April.. I have all the little signs that I had b4. The thing is with my first pg, DS, who was a surprise- in the first few weeks I cannot recall how my body felt. Now I am much more aware of my body changes, we'll see on Fri, Good luck to all those testing this weekend

Angsthase · 05/07/2006 09:09

Stingray - very encouraging news. Well done you for being so fertile

K1K2 - good luck for a BFP.

August is going to be my next chance for a BFP, so must be patient....but it's really hard. I feel like I'm wishing my life away!

Angsthase · 14/07/2006 16:18

Bump

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 16/07/2006 22:45

Can I join you? I am an old bugger too being 39 next wed

I have one dd aged 2.8 and I lost my second dd last april at 25 weeks pregnant

I have been trying since then, had all the tests (had lap and dye last month) and am SOOOOOO fed up of ttc

Have even considered calling it a day even though I really want another and know i will regret it later, but its taken everything out of me if you know what i mean

sideways · 16/07/2006 22:49

Well done stingray, that's great news, good luck for your pregnancy.

nicola, sorry you are feeling down, it must be really hard. I hope you get good news soon.

Welcome chocolatepeanut and good luck - have you tried all the tips in this thread?

No news here, getting very fed up, no way I am giving up yet though!

Bugmum · 20/07/2006 08:08

I am 40, with DS 17 months and have been ttc for five or sixth months now. Just heard my progesterone levels are low. The doctor says she'll try to refer me but I probably haven't been trying long enough, despite my age (I would have lied, had I known this).

Just wanted to say this to people who would understand how sad I feel, knowing I'll probably not have another child.

Angsthase · 20/07/2006 10:43

Bugmum + Chocolate Peanut - welcome to the madhouse

Bugmum - if you progesterone level is low surely they can give you something to help that? Just keep pushing to get referred. (Friend of mine burst into tears - worked for her!)

Don't give up girls - need to believe there's hope for us more mature ladies and you girls on here give me that hope.

Here's wishing us all BFP's soon. xxx

K1K2 · 22/07/2006 00:18

Hi Guys this is a sporadic thread, and I am not doing much either to make it any different-well it was very much wishful thinking ( probably what they called in the old days "phatom pregancies") on my part. AF came bang on time, so I was really deluding myself I had signs of pg. I feel llike a fool because I was telling everyone I might be pg. I am going to try to keep my mouth shut this time, if there is a this time. Ah well its the two week window of conceiving opportunity again, better get cracking!

Good luck to all xx

evenhope · 22/07/2006 12:59

Hi, some of you know me from the due Oct 2006 and due March 2006 boards. I am 43 and in shock from a BFP last week. I'm trying not to get too excited about it after 2 missed m/c. The odd thing is that after the last one the hospital said it was highly unlikely we'd conceive again, given my age, so we weren't actively trying- just not doing anything to prevent IYSWIM. I believe we had ahem.. relations.. just once this month, and that wasn't mid-cycle. After years TTC in my 20s. Quite mad.

Nicola63 · 22/07/2006 13:33

Even hope that is so wonderful! I have also had 2 missed m/c's, am ttc at moment, and will be 43 next month (dreading it). I know what you mean about the anxiety and trying not to get too excited in case things go wrong again. But lets hope everything will be ok! I am very encouraged by your story.

dizzy36 · 22/07/2006 16:07

hi, hope you don't mind me jumping in.

Its been very reassuring listening to some of the stories from late 30s ladies like myself (I'm 38).

I have been ttc for 4 years in total (lost a little girl at 20 weeks pg jan 2004). been ttc since then and knew it would take a while as she took 15 months to conceive.

I've not heard anyone on here mention low ovarian reserve (i.e high fsh). Mine is slightly elevated suggesting I haven't got long to ttc my 2nd.

Since april 2005 have been receiving private treatment and its only now that I have started to realise that it might not happen for us naturally anymore. so I am going for ivf (hope to start next cycle).

I never acutally considered myself too old to ttc before. Not sure whats changed but I don't feel very good about it.

sideways · 03/08/2006 14:14

Hello dizzy - welcome , sorry to hear about your mc,

evenhope - wow, fantastic, that's great news

Nicola and K1K2 - keep trying,we need more bfp on this thread!!

Things still chugging along here for me, no news yet but I am still hoping. I go on holiday next month and am hoping that being more relaxed will help, as stress levels and working too many hours do not really create a relaxing environment conducive to conception.

OP posts:
Nicola63 · 03/08/2006 14:33

Oh I am keeping trying! I am also going on holiday soon, just around ov time too. But I am also going to the fertility clinic just after I get back. My latest FSH continues to be low (8 at mid cycle) so I am not giving up.

Bugmum · 16/08/2006 18:00

I posted recently about ttc my second baby and having low progesterone levels. I had a meeting with my doctor yesterday about her referring me for a Clomid prescription, and on the way home I felt 'funny'. Have been having cramps since CD23, which is not usual for me. Anyway, I bought a test on the way home, and got a BFP!

Who knows whether it will stick, but it has made me very happy (though I felt an idiot having to ring the doctor and tell her!).

So I conceived my DS at 38 (had him at 39) and this one at 40 (if all goes well, I'll be 41 when I have him/her).

Keep your fingers crossed for me, and keep the faith. Baby dust to all!

Angsthase · 17/08/2006 11:56

Bugmum - just read this - CONGRAULATIONS!!!!

Hope it sticks - here's lots of babydust to help it.

nannymacfee · 17/08/2006 12:08

Just joined the site and have just started ttc our 3rd child. Was not keen for a 3rd (financial and stress pressures etc), but have decided to go for broke and hopefully have a larger family. My first 2 (girls) were conceived straight away, so not sure how to start trying - best days, diet etc. Am only going to try for 5 months and then draw a line under it if nothing happens. I know that sounds very black and white but that's how I am!

Any advice welcome - am 38!

Thanks, Nanny Macfee

sideways · 17/08/2006 12:11

Bugmum - that's great news, congratulations!!!

Angthase - how are you doing?

nannymacfee - welcome . I hope get a positive result soon. There are plenty of tips on this thread if you can manage to read though it!

Hi Sideways. All ok here. Just bored with the whole thing. I like getting my own way and this is one thing that is more or less out of my hands and as such v.annoying!

Expecting AF to appear tomorrow or Sat. Chances are that it will as I think I ov'd after DH had left.

How about you?
