Arianrhod · 11/06/2012 10:06

A positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Hi girls not posted for a while
Congrats on the great scans seems dr s is working his magic think I'm ready to try again , sorry to see it didn't work for all thinking of u I know how hard it is when treatment dosent work

Big congrats to the two baby boy drives how lovely

I have been thinking of doing the hidden c test and was wondering if any off u could tell me what I have to do and should I do it before I try again next dr s is throwing everything at me (his words) will be upping to 40mg and intripids, so scared of other mid on higher treatment, just looking for advice really if you don't mind seem the best place to ask

Havingkittens · 28/07/2012 12:09

Not had time for a proper scroll through but wanted to congratulate cheerful on the arrival of her little one.

gransol lots of discussion on hidden c tests on the super ovulation thread so pop over and have a look. I'm in two minds about it at the moment.

suemays · 28/07/2012 12:27

Free I found the heartbeat eventually after using some anti bac gel! My DD got quite excited hearing the heartbeat and now keeps kissing my tummy and talking to the baby! I just hope it all goes well after getting this far.

Gransol I have been on the higher treatment and apart from the cost it has been fine once I got a BFP. Have you had a hysteroscopy to rule out any scarring etc? I had mine done on the NHS so that I didnt have to pay. I got my BFP 2 weeks later so who knows if it helped? Other women have said it has helped them conceive but I dont know if its just a co-incidence. I said to myself that if this pregnancy didnt work I would get the hidden C test done as its another thing to rule out. At least its only antibiotics if they find a positive so not too bad to follow.

picolina123 · 28/07/2012 12:57

charlie congratulations !! so happy you have done it and can start enjoying your son now.
sue your post had me smiling just picturing your dh kissing your belly, so sweet.
free according to chinese doc the muscle and joint pain was caused by too much fluid that my body was not getting rid off. the mushrooms she has me on also causes fluid but the herbs are supposed to help balance the retention, last week it didnt. shes asked me to lower my dose to 2 capsules instead of 3 per day and also said i can start trying in sep!

has anyone used natural progestrone cream? im spotting again about a week after i ovulate leading up to my period. i did this for years and for some reason last year it stopped which is prob why i started falling pregnant when i hadnt for years, also noticed my temp dropped the day i started spotting. started on vit b complex ( 50mg) and she wants me to use natural progestrone cream after i ovulate.

freelancegirl · 28/07/2012 14:44

Olives good to hear you are getting lots of symptoms but so sorry about DH's friend - have you heard any more about him?

Yay for finding the heartbeat Sue! Yes, sorry I should have mentioned you needed to use a gel like substance at first. I have not been my usual on the ball self these days :) LIke I said, with me it was also very low down at first. Once i had found it once I got a bit addicted for a while and at one point had to wean myself off daily listens. When you start to feel the baby move it will help.

Hi Gransol I can't answer about other investigations but like Kittens says there is a lot of talk about this on the Super Ov thread. I can tell you that the higher level treatment isn't really so bad at all. I mean, being on 40mg of Pred isn't exactly fun but it's for a relatively short period of time. I have had both a mc on this level and a successful pregnancy and, hopefully this won't be something you have to face, even if you do miscarry on the treatment you would still not be on it that long. To be honest the scariest thing is starting to take the Pred in the first place, not going up to 40mg. Coming off - again whetehr when pregnant or not - can cause a few aches and pains. I did get a rather annoying moon face but again that doesn't last long. Intralipids are painless and once you have got the drip in - painless too but the anticipation is a bit nervy if like me you hadn't had one before - it is quite relaxing. If he puts you on Hydroxy too that's actually not a bad drug at all - helped curb any Pred based appetite increase for me.

That is EXCELLENT news about the scan Jemima! Oh it is so nerve-wracking waiting to see that heartbeat. So glad it was good news, I know it doesn't mean you are out of the woods yet but it is a brilliant, brilliant start.

Thanks for the advice Digi yes I do need to take it easy. I am feeling a lot better every day and have started browsing the BF boards as suggested. Started on the Spatone today instead of my iron tablets, just in the hope of warding off any more toilet trouble. Am already worried that I haven't been properly since the hospital experience despite having taken lactulose and fibrogel. DS is back on the breast and is making the most of it. Last night he was BF for over 2 hours! He just didn't want to let go so I went along with it, I figure he is very newborn still and he is meant to being fed so he can gain weight so I just went along with it. Am trying to bf as much as possible too to get the supply going. It would be nice in a few weeks to be able to EBF but I will see how it goes. So hoping he has put on weight when weighted on Monday.

My mum left today to go see my nan for a few days so DH and I are without our wing man. She has been very helpful in providing another pair of hands. I am sure we will manage though. He is off out tonight and I will be on my own for the first time. We are also now properly hemmed in by the Olympics with events all around us so I am not going anywhere fast anyway. I am starting to feel like, if I didn't live in a rather residential area with no cafes to hang out with, I could wander into a nearby cafe. Am missing my centre of town lifestyle in Brighton I think!

Hi to Pico, LJ, Merc and other posters and non-posters I have missed!

freelancegirl · 28/07/2012 15:02

OK, I am using valuable nap time to do this so I hope it's appreciated :)

It wasn't so long ago that we had no Baby list so to see it now there with 8 Pred Thread babies on there is pretty good going, for us all here and for the treatment in general. Huge congratulations to Charlie on the birth of her baby boy! Name, weight and more details when you're ready please. Although I understand you might be busy...

Battery - you're top of the list! PQ just a couple of days away from the third trimester. Gosh that seems to have flown past - although not to you I imagine.

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing ok.

charlie huge congratulations to you both on the birth of your baby boy :-) Wonderful news. How are you all doing? Hope you're recovering well and loving motherhood. Are you sharing his name with us?? On another note I remember after my c section the nurse said "don't be scared of having your first poo, you won't split open", she was right of course but it was scary doing the first one! Sorry if tmi everyone!

Hi hanah, welcome to the thread, so sorry to hear of all you have been through. Congrats on your bfp, can totally understand how scared you are at the moment, hope its all going well for you.

sue well done on moving up to the 2nd trimester and bet you're so chuffed with the test results. Hope you're feeling well. Must be good to have the doppler for reassurance now.

belly glad the erpc went well, hope you're recovering well, sounds like you were very brave as it doesn't sound pleasant.

Hi free, bet you're enjoying every second of being a new mum. I'm sure you're all clued up but if its any help I ate prunes every morning when pregnant as was suffering from constipation (yuk but effective).

jemima can totally understand how worried you are but really glad you had good news at your first scan.

No bfp for me this month, I'm kind of relieved as I'm off to Crete for a week now and can have a worry free and wine filled holiday. I will be very excited when I get pregnant but the thought of the long journey to Surrey every 4 weeks during pregnancy feels exhausting so I need to mentally prepare myself.

Hi to everyone else and sorry if I've missed anything else.

Take care everyone, will catch up with the news when I get back from hols x

sarahs999 · 29/07/2012 17:56

Hello there

Back from Lanzarote, which was fab. Managed not to mental too much though I suspect that will start again soon. Am about to start my 9th week of pregnancy... still PUPO! Starting to get scanxiety for next Tuesday, at which I'll be 9 weeks exactly, so hopefully will have made it past the worst bit. Still, of course, expecting the worst. Sigh.

Going to go and catch up now. Hope everyone's well.
Sx

freelancegirl · 30/07/2012 11:43

Wise words about the post CS poo Mollie and hope you have a lovely holiday. Although I think after that enema I had to had something was in fact close to being split open, it certainly wasn't the scar! I would recommend eating lots of natural laxatives Charlie :) Hope you're getting on ok! Let us know when you can.

Welcome back Sarah! Glad you had a nice time, bet it was lovely and hot. Come and see me if you get time! Am a bit housebound by Olympics and CS recovery but getting better all the time. Maybe you and PQ could pop round here for a cuppa. Week 9 hey, wow. That is so very good. We will be waiting to hear about the scan and are here for virtual hand holding.

All ok here from the shell shocked with a newborn baby. Learning to deal with lack of sleep and gradually learning new skills. There's a lot of anxiety involved in looking after him though - checking he is ok and worrying about every move, non-move etc etc. The worry seems to have stepped up a notch from being pregnant after recurrent miscarriage, didn't think it was possible!

sarahs999 · 30/07/2012 13:52

Hello free! Really feel for you with the constpitation. I had it so badly after my CS - completely forgot to tell you that, it's the thing I dread most. No one told me it might happen - they really should have been giving me lactulase from the beginning. I was on v high beta blockers at the time for my high blood pressure left over from the pre-ec (turns out they were much too high), and passed out in the bathroom trying to go! The pain was horrendous. And will try to come round and see you when I work out where I am and what I'm doing. PM me and tell me exactly where you are - am avoiding travel too much, like you, because of the Olympics.

So I'm in full-on mental mode at the moment. The feelgood factor from the last scan has long since gone and I'm now convinced it's all going to go wrong. Thoughts in my head at this moment (these can be reassembled in any random order):

  1. My moonface is horrendous (this appeared suddenly overnight in Lanzarote).
  2. Everyone is looking at my moonface and thinking I ate like a pig on holiday.
  3. WHy can't I feel my womb?
  4. You can't feel your womb at 8 weeks
  5. But sometimes you can
  6. My boobs are only sore because I take cyclogest
  7. But they're a bit bigger
  8. Are they? Really? Sure it's not your imagination?
  9. I don't get lucky in pregnancy so this one's doomed too
10. Think positive, it's OK so far. Pupo! 11. No point getting attached yet. 12 The 6 week scan was good - you are further along now than in your last three miscarriages 13. but anything can happen between now and then 14 you've had no bleeding 15 might be a missed miscarriage

And so on ad infinitum. I know you all know how it is.

Charlie, congratulations!
Belly glad it went well. Hope you're feeling ok.
sue Second trimester! So exciting. Are you feeling more relaxed?
hannah welcome, so sorry about your ttc journey. Feel free to mental with me.
jemima ditto!

Sorry if I've missed anyone out - too much to remember! happy thoughts to all.

LJ71 · 30/07/2012 14:16

Sarah - I am sure most of us identify with these worries!

Fingers crossed that all will be well for you xxxx

batteryhen · 30/07/2012 14:37

Hello :)

First - congrats to charlie - -these babies are arriving fast now!
free constipation is no-ones friend. Avoid eggs, eat lots of prunes, cucumber and green stuff. Drink lots and lots of water!
sarah that is an impressive mental list. However, I can identify with all of them :) PUPO!!!!!!!

Well I have not been around a lot as I am very busy. We have had DPs kids to stay last week, then over the weekend we had to look after a friends dog whilst she went into hospital to have her baby. Having 2 pups running round is like watching 2 little naughty boys in the house!

Well I am up next - trying not to think about it too much. It's a section for me too as I still have a head under my ribs and a bum in my pelvis :) My friend who went in this weekend went in On Saturday to be induced but ended up having baby last night by c section, so I think I am almost lucky to just go to section.....

Anyway ....TTC ladies. I don't want to chat on about births, I know how hard it is to read about someone elses pregnancy (even though it is someone on the internet). I hope that we have a few more joining the first trimester soon. It must must must be kittens and duggs soon ........I will have a word with fate/god/nature and tell them to get their finger out :) xxxx

GreenOlives · 30/07/2012 18:58

Mollie hope you have a fabulous holiday!

Sarah Glad you had a nice time - I agree completely with your list of thoughts! I was really cross with myself earlier for daring to look at when I might consider starting mat leave - I still think it's tempting fate too much to do anything in the future PUPO!

Free A whole new set of worries now, it's a rollercoaster being a Mummy but so fabulous too Smile

Battery Not long now!

I had another scan today. Babyolives is looking good, he/she has arm and legs now as well as a good HB. Lovely consultant is scanning me again next Monday even though my nuchal scan is only on 14th August, he really is the nicest doctor in the world! Things are still very subdued in the Olives house though, DHs friend is still critically ill in ITU and even if he does survive they have no idea whether he will have brain and/or spinal injuries. DH is finding it really difficult to deal with, he has had a good cry though finally which I think always helps (well it certainly helps me!)

I'll have a go at the list!

sarah999 i love your list , its like catching a glimpse into all our brains . dont worry about moon face , it really does go once you are off all the drugs , takes about 2 mths to back to normal. i think the hardest thing when we are pregnant is to chill but my chines doc said its very important to lower stress levels, have no idea how to do it, going to start tai chai, got some great music and going to practise deep breathing etc so if and when i fall pregs again i can try and control it! its hard though, my brain is always going a million miles a minute!

Duggs! Hello! How are you doing?

Ha Sarah that list is very easy for me to identify. I could write another one now at the other side of it all - is he breathing, is he eating enough, is he eating too much...I thought the mentalling would stop! I will send you a link to a video I made of my moonface. It was after I had just had an ERPC and sod's law the pred blew my cheeks up that very week. But I have cut it with a shot of me 6 weeks later with no moonface whatsoever. It really is odd - but reassuring that it goes a few weeks after you start the Pred. I would say try not to worry but I know that's futile. Will send you my address too.

Yay for good scan Olives! I know how hard it can be to be optimistic but that is really, really good news. And thanks for doing the list too :)

Battery if you want to witter on about birth and have any questions about an ELCS please let me know. We can swap email addresses.

Hello to everyone else too.

Life goes on and id like to try to enjoy it 3 yrs down the line. if i get pg naturally and it sticks i shall be jolly happy, but im not ecpecting much. very good of u to still be around on here and that mentalling doesnt stop. i often wonder what it'd be like to be a mum...will you take seb (astian) with u on work trips do u think?

sarahs999 · 02/08/2012 11:13

Gosh it's quiet on here, where is everyone? I will attempt to update the list in a minute, apologies if I screw anyone's dates up.

Have got lots of appoibntments through now. Next Tues for my 9 week scan with shehata. Following Weds for booking in with midwife. Following Friday for nuchal (argh!). Does anyone know if an early nuchal is less accurate than a later one? I'll be 11+2. Live in dread of a bad result as I cannot imagine submitting to an amnio after all my losses.

I haven't been on this thread for a while as I've been working a lot and just mentalling on the SO thread more than anything else.

Lots of good news on here though! I've only had a chance to scroll back to the top of this page so far.

greenolives great to hear your scan went well. I'm sorry to hear about your DH's friend. You must both be beside yourselves with worry. I really hope he pulls through with as little damage as possible.

sarah good luck for your upcoming scan. I've had my last 4 Nuchal scans at about 11+3 due to my history too. I've had 2 terminations for chromosome abnormalities. I think that's the earliest they can do them. You will probably be ok at 11+2 but might be worth checking. Is Mr S doing it or are you going to go to FMC? I know just how scary this is for you. It's something I live in fear of too! Your list is very familiar to all of us, I'm sure!

duggs, I do so hope you get lucky soon. It would be so amazing if you got pregnant naturally after all you've been through, especially as your NK Cells are back to normal levels. It seems only right that next time should be a success.

Good to hear from you free, and to hear all is going well with little Sebastian.

battery, wow! When's your due date? Oh, thanks by the way, for having a word with whichever powers that be. I think it may have worked Wink

Yes, lots of mentalling here. 3 days of POAS, graduating from "ghost of a ghost of a line" to "ghost of a line, but yes, I can see it without squinting", to today's "well, it's still feint but I can definitely see it, even with the bedroom light off and the curtains closed"! Cripes!

The thing I am most mentalling about is how the hell I'm going to get my intralipids. I am working midday to midnight at the Olympics and I don't have a day off until 15 August as I'm straight on to a 2 day shoot somewhere else when the games end. Has anyone organised having them at home before with HCAH? I'm wondering how early they are able to come and whether the nurse minds if you have a snooze whilst you're having them, even though she will have to be in your house a the time. I can't even get someone to cover for me here for a day because of security. Any ideas or experience to share will be most welcome. Does anyone know when Louise is back? I could really do with talking to her!

freelancegirl · 02/08/2012 13:23

Kittens - was that a very long-winded way of telling us you have had a BFP?!?!

Havingkittens · 02/08/2012 13:31

I suppose it was wasn't it? I forget you lot aren't on Super Ovulation. Us SO-ers cannot take even a feint line to be a BFP because it could well still be the drugs, which also involve HCG, making the line come ups, so the progress report of lines getting darker is kind of relevant.

sarahs999 · 02/08/2012 13:33

Wow, congrats kittens!

Havingkittens · 02/08/2012 13:33

But yes, I reckon I can take it as a BFP now. Especially as I was sick this morning and have been peeing through the night like a thirsty horse.
