Yay for scan news from Sarah! Am so relieved for you. I know it is still early days but it is a great start and we are all hoping it will keep moving in the right direction. Gosh I know how long those days and weeks feel between early scans. It only get slightly better when you start experiencing movement IME, but still the mentalling doesn't stop.

It's not stopped now even! Baby is growing stronger all the time which is great to see as I need him to be able to withstand my scatty mothering skills! I keep doing things the wrong way,Ike forgetting to change him or sitting back to try feed and realise am missing something vital. I've had to introduce a bit of formula as latching on got v painful and it was hard to feed. Have started ti express a bit to help proper milk come in and a friend who is a bf adviser is coming round when I get home - hopefully today.

Scar not feeling too bad if I stay on top of the medication. Tummy starting to shrink but still can't help wonder why I haven't felt it move every now and then!

Belly my friend Jaffa who has dropped in here and is also on the super ovulation thread has had an ERPC at NLC before. It was as well as caj be expected as i remember. There was classical music playing and by all accounts the staff are very sensitive. It has to be nicer than a general in a busy NHS hospital. Just try concentrate on it being a step towards the next stage of treatment, including testing the 'products'.

Good luck with yours too LJ. Hello to everyone else, an off to try get a nap in.

My DH has put a couple of pics up on Facebook but if you're friends with me you can see them. I will accept you all if you find me. Digital, Ari, Kirttens, Sarah, PQ and maybe others are already friends with be so can point you in my direction. Pebbles, for those of you who don't know, is my nesr frirnd ftok school! But she is a FB refuser :)

Oh and Sue, PM be your postal address, I will get the Doppler sent when home.

picolina123 · 20/07/2012 07:24

LJ good luck ,your right about needing time, i took a few mths off and it helped a lot mentally. you must do whats right for both of you. i was telling my chinese doc that i worry all the time , she said you have to trust and pray, wish i could do that and it works

BellyD · 20/07/2012 08:18

Good luck for today LJ will be thinking of you.

Free thanks for the erpc info. I hope that you are allowed home today.

sarahs999 · 20/07/2012 10:05

Good luck today LJ

Pebbles73 · 20/07/2012 10:59

LJ I went in to have an erpc with Mr S after a miscarruage lasting nearly two months ! He scanned me first and everything had virtually gone so didn't have to go ahead. What I will say that they didn't tell me before I turned up was that they inject you about four times down below with local anaerhestic. Hope I am not putting you off but I would like to have known before I got there. I wish you all the best and hope you feel in a better place once this is done.

Belly I was so sad to read your news and hope you are being well looked after.

Well done to all the people with good scans and long may it continue.

Free look forward to seeing the pics, I will get my dh on Facebook later so I can see as still won't be joining anytime soon!! Smile

Havingkittens · 20/07/2012 11:30

Good luck LJ.

Free, I'm laughing at your probable one handed typing on ipad or iphone. I went to look on your Facebook friends list to see if I could find the others but you have over 3000 friends! Lovely pic of you two with Sebastian Smile

Abney · 20/07/2012 13:53

LJ and Belly D very saddened by your news. Remember my DS turned up after 6 MC's and many more on this thread have suffered the same. The worse thing would be to give up too early. The doctors will say it is good news that you can get pregnant. All you need is the right treatment and a bit of luck. Everyone says that as long as you can get pg you will get there in the end. If I have learnt any lessons from all of my troubles is that you need to throw everything at it and then you will know that you have tried everything. It was only when I suffered my 5th MC that anyone did anything about it. 2 of my MC's was down to a molar pg and Edwards syndrome but I still had another 4 mc's after DS. On each occasion I should have had all of the tests done and all drugs available. It wasn't until the 3rd MC after DS was born it was discovered that I had VHKC. You need to make sure you are on hydroxy, pred (higher dose if necessary) asprin, fragmin (if you can get it) and make sure your blood is tested in case it thickens in early pg. Apart from the molar and the Edwards none of my MC's were tested so I don't have a clue if they were chromosone issues so it is always best to test if you can. Lastly I have Bupa insurance and although they don't get involved in finding out the reasons for MC if I have another MC then I can book to have the operation through BUPA privately without having to pay Anyway just focus on the future and don't let life beat you. You will get there in the end.

LJ71 · 21/07/2012 09:19

Thanks everyone. Sad day yesterday, but got through it, and home afterwards with a tummy ache and paracetomol!

Not the most pleasant experience. The two ERPC's I've had before were NHS and so I was put to sleep. This one was a lot better in some ways, but emotionaly very hard when you are awake through the whole thing. Needed someone there to hold my hand, that was probably the hardest bit! They let my mum come and sit with me once I was back in the recovery room.

I will never hear "Nessun Dorma" again without remembering the procedure!

The results on the "products" should be available in about 3-4 weeks.

Abney · 21/07/2012 09:51

Hi LJ you are very brave to have gone through it. Let's hope it gives you some answers. Why do they favour local rather than general? If it happens again to me I am not sure I could go through with the local. FYI I lost one at the end of last year and then I waited a month and then got pg again straight away. Sadly I lost that one as well but it could happen to you ie if you feel strong enough it won't take long before you can try again. I am desparately ttc and this is my 6th go at SO. If I do get pg again everything will be thrown at it. I do feel sadly that I am running out of time. Dr S said that if I do not get pg the 5th time we can discuss something else so I am seeing him this Monday to discuss that something else. I am assuming that means IUI or IVF but I don't think IVF has very good odds at my age (44). Anyway stay strong and I hope you recover quickly.

Belly D hope you are OK.

Snoopy hope all is OK with you and the treatment is going well.

CareBear1 · 21/07/2012 10:14

Can I ask a quick question - how long does having intralipids actually take? Does it really take 2.5 hours? I have an appointment clash on monday and having intralipids for the first time,

thanks. x

Jemimapuddleduk · 21/07/2012 11:03

LJ, I bet you are relieved to have got Friday over, sorry you have had to go through it again. Hope you recover quick and have happier news before long.
I have had 2 Erpc s under local as that is an option at my nhs trust. It is a bit of an ordeal as you are so aware of it all going on. It suited me as I was petrified of general anaesthetic and the medical option doesnt work on my awkward body.

Hello carebear, good luck with the intralipids. Lovely to see you again. I never forget your kindness when I was going through my first iui. I have used your relaxation cd's this time round during my second iui. I am a mediation convert!

Hello to everyone else. It's sunny up north today, finally!
X

sarahs999 · 21/07/2012 12:38

I was told that intralipids can take between 2 and 3.5 hours, depending on how thin and receptive your veins are. Mine are utter crap so I'm imagining I'll be there for the whole hog.

suemays · 21/07/2012 13:41

carebear I have had 4 sets of intrallipids and the first are normally the longest. Mine took 4 hours which was longer than normal. They speed up the drip once you have had them once so the one I had on tues only took 1 hour. I did have blood tests the day before so maybe the vein was already more receptive? I think they do this as some women find the cold sensation uncomfortable. The best way to speed it up is to keep your arm completely straight and pointing down. The other two I had took around 2.5 hours so I think you would be best to change the other appointment. One of my intrallipid appts was also half an hour late as they were waiting for a free room at NLC.

LJ glad you survived Friday and that your mum was with you. It will be interesting to hear what the results are on the products (I hate that term).

picolina123 · 21/07/2012 13:42

What i find really hard to understand is the difference in information from nhs clinic and the normal clinic, i have asked sooo many times about the intralipids and was told dr s was no longer using it as it was a waste of money and didnt really do anything but so many women here are on it, its diff if i was told i dont need it becuase etc etc . I knw i would have had to pay extra for it and told them i was ok with it but again was told they were stopping using it and then i read so many women here are still being asked to use it, why the difference ? its so fustrating trying to understand the whole thing . anyway thats my vent for the day : )

PQ77 · 21/07/2012 14:13

Oh my goodness lj that music is so mournful at the best of times (but then I suppose something upbeat would have been massively inappropriate too). Glad you are through the other side and might get some answers now. Thinking of you and bellyd

carebear intralipids really can take a long long time. My blood pressure shot up with one session so they had to slow the drip and it took closer to three hours. Sorry pico that is frustrating but I just don't know the answer - I had intralipids and 40mg pred with this pregnancy.

sarah so thrilled about your good scan. free are you home yet?

mercator · 21/07/2012 14:58

lj so sorry to hear what you've been through and like others have said you're very brave to have gone through that under local but let's hope it provides some answers.

carebear my intralipids were always around then3 hour mark.

pico I would try and get to see Mr S and query it directly with him if you feel fobbed off by members of staff.

mollieboo · 21/07/2012 17:42

Hi sarah congrats on your great scan news. Will you be on intralipids all the way through or just for the 1st trimester? I'll be on them till 32 weeks when I get pregnant. It is expensive and by the sound of it very time consuming but yes will be well worth it. Hi carebear, welcome to the thread. Didn't realise intralipids took that long, and my veins are always rubbish when I need blood taken so won't be looking forward to that at all! Hi pico that's interesting re the intralipids, hope you get some info, hard to know which way to turn for the best sometimes I know...

Thanks orchid for your lovely post. Kind of makes it hit home how much we're all going through on this thread doesn't it.

free hope you're good and enjoying being a mother :-) I'm not on facebook so won't get to see the pics, gutting, I bet Sebastian is absolutely gorgeous anyway.

lj hugs to you after your procedure, not nice for you at all, time for a bit of r&r now, hope you're getting spoilt.

No news with me, except that I've been on pred for just over a week and started to look 6 months pregnant! My stomach's gone down a bit now but it did swell up, I wouldn't mind if I was actually pregnant but I'm sure people in work just think I am. Oh well just a minor side effect and will be worth it soon I hope.

Hi to everyone else, sunny in Wales too, yay x

Abney · 21/07/2012 18:02

Hi Picolina when I went through the NHS one of Dr S's colleagues said that the next step would be intralipids. When I got pg I asked and they said not recommended. I asked again and they said that they would put a call through to Mr S and again they said 'not recommended'. I did not get any reasons why apart from the expense was not worth it due to the results not being that much more successful. In my opinion if it results in one more baby being born then it is worth every penny to the mother. When I finally went private in Jan this year Dr S said yes ie I should have intralipids. So there is great confusion as to whether it helps prevent miscarriage. If it does not do any harm then why not? I have recently read a book that says intralipids are a must so if I was you I would insist on having it. It is your money so spend it how you wish and if it does not work out then at least you have tried. Why does everyone think that everyone is poor. They say there is a recession but I have not noticed any difference in the high street or restaurants or pubs apart from the pound shops of course :). I went in to Boots recently and asked how much Gonal F was. I needed it the same day but the lady said that it was next day only. I went back later and another lady said that she could order it the same day. I said why did the other lady say the next day then and she said due to the expense she was a bit 'shy' of coming forward. Well I was amazed. If you go to all of the trouble of getting the prescription you are hardly going to quibble about the cost. I wasn't dressed shabby I promise so I just don't get it.

Free I hope you are enjoying every minute with your son. I was the same as you always wanting and then DS arrived and I was like so what do I do with it now! :). He is 3 years old now and I am now constantly having my hair pulled, food smeared all over me and I also have to put up with the occasional bite. LOL. Anyway enjoy!

sarahs999 · 21/07/2012 19:43

Mr S was keen on intralipids for me because of my history of preeclampsia. He said they have had some good outcomes with women with a similar histoty to me usingn them.

sarahs999 · 21/07/2012 21:14

OK - I'm off to Lanzarote for a week of sun and beach, just what I need! Will catch up on return. And Free, hoping to meet baby Sebastian soon after! Hope it's all going well and you're not too exhausted.

freelancegirl · 22/07/2012 19:32

Am lurking but no time to post properly - rapidly finding out what those people with babies DO all day. Actually I am still not sure but I know it is time consuming and exhausting and also rather heart wrenching but in a good way. Chuck in a bit of difficulty with feeding, swollen breasts, logistical nightmares involving parents staying and being in an Olympic borough and I am quite delirious with tiredness. But am lurking away! Have a fab holiday Sarah yes please come visit when you get back, should hopefully be a bit more in the swing of things then. Same goes to other local bods. And also of course to Pebbles who although travelling from further afield am sure will be working her way here soon.

Hope everyone is well. Am still remembering the recent losses and hoping that things get better for all soon

Any news from Charlie?! xx

Free - congratulations on the arrival of your special son Sebastian, hope you get plenty of sleep these early weeks, and get all the help you need with sorting out the boobs soreness Enjoy getting to know your new little man.

Sorry to LJ and Belly on your sad losses.

I have been absent for a few days, as my oldest son has been having trips to a&e.

It has been great to read about so many having encouraging early scans as well as more babies arriving.

free I had problems with feeding too. Find your local breastfeeding clinics and go - it was the best thing i did and I thought second time round wouldn't be a problem but I still needed lots of support at the beginning.
