I have a question for everyone about AMH. I haven't ever had mine tested, although my FSH was okay (7.8). Do you think it's worth having my AMH tested? Has anyone had a normal FSH but low AMH? On one hand I feel I have to pursue every avenue to work out why I'm no longer conceiving; on the other I'm skint!

Pebbles73 · 08/07/2012 14:13

A quick question for the hydroxy users - did Mr S start you on it from ovulation or just at the beginning of your cycle? I'm concerned that he said you need to be on it for 6 weeks before it starts working and he's away isn't he? Not sure if I should be starting to take it now or get a prescription when I go for my follicle tracking scan. Is Louise away too? If so, any ideas who else I can ask?

lemonsherbet · 08/07/2012 14:35

brown Mr S tested mine last time I saw him. It was not the right time for me to have fsh and lh tested so he said to ask my GP for those. Mr S said gives a better idea of reserves then FSH which can vary cycle to cycle. I do not know my results since need an appointment to receive them.

brownstag · 08/07/2012 14:46

Thanks Lemonsherbert. I may discuss it with him if my follicle scan (with someone else as he's away) tomorrow isn't very impressive. I was surprised to have only produced one follicle on 5mg last cycle.
Having kittens, I don't think it matters when you start taking it, just asap really. He prescribed it when I went for my last follicle scan and I started taking it immediately.

brownstag · 08/07/2012 14:48

Lemonsherbert, forgot to ask, how much did the test cost?

BellyD · 08/07/2012 15:13

Hi. Sorry to interrupt the Murray match. I have been really stupid today and done another clearblue digi test. I should be 6 weeks today (4 weeks since conception) but the conception indicator came back as 2-3 which is the same as this time last week. Freaking out a bit as things usually go wrong for me between 6-7 weeks. Haven't had any mc symptoms and have checked lots of sites that say the conception indicators aren't very reliable, but these have generally been written by 'normal' people and not rm's like us. Didn't test first thing in the morning which is the only thing that is making me hopeful of a dodgy result.

Kittens I would start taking the hydroxy as soon as you can. I think the crucial thing is they time it takes to get in your system, not when in your cycle you start taking it.

lemonsherbet · 08/07/2012 15:22

Think last time was somewhere between 200-300 pounds for the tests last time, had a repeat NKC and the AMH done.

Abney · 08/07/2012 15:35

Hi Kittens when I asked DR S if I could go on hydroxy he said no as it was only for people who had failed on his pred treatment. I had to remind him that I had 4 times. Anyway it does take 6 weeks so as brownstag has already mentioned you just need to take as soon as poss if he says yes. BellyD just looked on the clearblue website. Either way it is PUPO pregnant until proven otherwise. If I ever get pg again I am sure I will be doing the same as you and I am also not sure about these early scans. I think I would rather wait till 9 weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

batteryhen · 08/07/2012 16:16

belly just very quickly, I never got anymore than 2-3 weeks on a cb digi. My HCG was so low and not doubling the Dr told me I wasn't pregnant. Don't google, don't pee on anymore sticks and try not to mental! I am living proof that a pregnancy test can NOT tell you how pregnant you are. You are pregnant, :) :)

BellyD · 08/07/2012 17:07

Thanks for the reassurance battery. I really appreciate it - and so does DH Wink

batteryhen · 08/07/2012 17:16

You are welcome xx

Bertha337 · 08/07/2012 18:26

Hi all,
Bit of a scare this weekend...I fainted! In a really public place as well, with loads of people watching. My OH carried me out and someone else came to help before paramedics showed up! They asked whether it was drink induced (how embarrassing) and before I knew it I was hooked up to heart monitors and explaining things to medics. We were with friends as well- talk about letting the cat out of the bag with a flair for the dramatics...

Everything seems fine- no spotting or bleeding. Just a really big scare, and I guess I should call the hospital tomorrow.

Btw- lissa is the nurse at St. Heliers. I guess she's the point of contact for the NHS people....

Havingkittens · 08/07/2012 18:46

Thanks all. Mr S has already agreed to put my on Hydroxy as I've been on Pred for over a year now and it makes me feel crappy. He said I should start next cycle when I had my last follicle scan but he hasn't given me a prescription yet. My concern was that if he and Louise are away, how can I get a prescription asap? Not sure if Lissa would do me a prescription. Do they prescribe Hydroxy in his NHS clinic? Even if they do they would still need the go ahead from Mr S and it will only be in his private clinic notes. I do have a letter from him but it's on his private letterhead. I guess I'll have to phone Cheryl or Karen and see when they are back.

Blimey bertha, that is dramatic. Still, fainting is quite common for early pregnancy isn't it? Hope you're ok now.

Belly, those conception indicators are notoriously unreliable and should be taken with a large pinch of salt!

BellyD · 08/07/2012 20:58

Kittens when Mr S has been away previously I have seen Mr Gafar, his colleague. Ring Cheryl in the morning and see if she can get him to prescribe the hydroxy for you and then perhaps it can be posted to you.

Havingkittens · 08/07/2012 21:17

Good idea. I believe they can actually fax the prescription to your chosen pharmacy. Cheryl has done that for me in the past.

Arianrhod · 09/07/2012 09:08

Just a quickie .. kittens I spoke with Louise on Friday, she didn't mention being away? Have you tried sending her a text? She's usually really good at replying. And the hydroxy Louise gave me a prescription for first of all - in fact that's why I was talking to her Friday, I forgot to ask Mr S for a repeat prescription when I saw him and she was sending me another, she just has to get it signed by one of the other doctors. So you can definitely get the prescription even if Mr S isn't there.

Havingkittens · 09/07/2012 10:10

Thanks ari. I'll give her a call this morning. I did try to call her on Friday but got her answerphone and didn't leave a message because her message said she didn't work Fridays.

freelancegirl · 09/07/2012 10:57

Hello all, hope you had a good weekend. I noticed Pebbles sneaking in from holiday there - I think you've done very well not to go online every day. I always have to have a cheeky look even when away somewhere I am meant to be chilling out!

Bertha that must have really freaked you out! How are you feeling now? I know on films the first sign someone is pregnant is often that they faint in public but I've never really heard of it in RL.

Belly hope what Battery said has made you feel a bit better about the CB test. I am pretty sure that once you get to this stage in the pregnancy these things are not reliable at all.

Hope you get the prescription sorted out Kitttens. Am sure you will. I just sent a load of Hydoxy to someone who lurks but doesn't post as she has to travel to get her prescriptions, so am all out. If anyone is ever really, really stuck I could get a repeat prescription from my docs although am sure this is probably a highly illegal drug deal Incidentally as to when to start it I know Mr S says take it for a good six weeks before (hopefully) becoming pregnant, however I was only on it for two weeks before I got pregnant. It was all a bit more experimental in those days long ago in September/October.

I am definitely now uncomfortable with getting around. I have gone from being a walking/bus and tube hopping on Londoner to someone who rather fancies a lift instead. I have two engagements in the centre of town this week - a dinner on Tuesday night for a friend's bday in Soho and I am actually reporting (just written not on camera or anything thank goodness) from a conference on Thursday morning! At 38.3 weeks pregnant...I will need to get into Moorgate so will probably do a combination of a train and cab to limit the waddling time.

Oh, am also getting a bit nervous. I need a bit of reassurance from the CS veterans on the babies list if any of you are lurking. It's so weird to know when I am going to have the baby and also be apprehensive about the op. I am of course very apprehensive about things going wrong as well. But I guess if I wasn't having it I would also be pretty apprehensive about looming labour and VB of course. Oh, assuming all goes well, on the other side of the op there is also the rather nerve-wracking bit of having a baby to look after!! And moving of course - still no news of the house. We have decided if there is no sign of a moving date tomorrow we are going to have to put everything from our second flat (the one we are now in- surrounded by boxes) in storage and just leave the very very basics to be able to live and look after the baby.

sarahs999 · 09/07/2012 11:30

Hello all. Just popping by to say hi - nothing much new happening except some pretty bad predsomnia. I was up from 3-7am on Saturday night and 3-5 last night. Not feeling so hot today....

Not had any more bad nausea since that day on the train, which is good but disconcerting too, of course. Trying not to think about it. I allowed myself an hour or two yesterday daydreaming like normal pregnant people do - what would we call him/her? What might they look like? How shall we decorate the room? But then stopped myself before I got too attached to the vision. Too early yet. So sad, isn't it, that we have to protect ourselves like this?

BellyD how are you doing? I can imagine you feel all over the place. Have you managed to stay away from the digis or have you done another one? I have one inthe cupboard that I'm saving for Wednesday, when I too should be 3+. I know everyone says they're not reliable but I have a deathwish for them.. Sad

Bertha hope you're ok after your dramatics!

I was telling DH that this pregnancy feels different to the past few. I FEEL pregnant, which I haven't for some time. Difficult to put into words but there is a sort of vibrancy about it, whereas the others felt dull and sluggish. This could all be me anthropomorphising my NKCs now that I know about them of course but I'll cling to anything i can get right now.

It also occured to me that if I get past the first trimester and everything looks normal, I will then have a whole other set of things to worry about that I haven't thought about for years. When I had my son in 2005 I had severe early onset pre-eclampsia and hellp syndrome, and he was delivered at 26+6 (he's fine now, no after effects, amazingly). Ironically we spent two years umming and ahhing about whether to try for another baby (I was very ill - nearly died on the operating table) and saw a specialist in pre-ec who told me i am high risk for pre-ec again. Of course we then spent the next five years conceiving and losing babies, so the thought of what happens at the business end of pregnancy has seemed miles away.

Dr S tied the pre-ec into my two blood clotting disorders and the NKCs. I now wonder if my chances of getting it are reduced havng been on the pred? I haven't actually asked him that directly. Anyone else know much abuot pre-ec and steroids/NKCs?

mollieboo · 09/07/2012 14:02

Hi sarah, our cases seem pretty similar, I've had 5 early miscs and a premature birth at 29 weeks but problems started after 20 weeks of pregnancy because of placenta problems. According to Mr S and my Dr Beer book, the problems were likely to be because of high NK cells. I was reading the book last night and pre-e was also mentioned to be a problem because of immune issues, so steroids should help if so I would think...
freelance wow 38 weeks+, would love to get to that stage. I hope you're getting around and feeling ok and that your house situation gets sorted soon, you've got it all going on!
bertha hope you're feeling ok now after your public swooning!
I'm in work and just ran out of time on my lunch to look further at everyone's posts so hello everyone and hope you're all doing ok x

sarahs999 · 09/07/2012 14:16

Thanks Mollie, that's interesting. I wonder if there's a case for taking them later on in the pregnancy as well as at the beginning? I will ask at my scan what his thoughts are. Assuming the scan is a good one Hmm.

Delta10 · 09/07/2012 14:17

Hi all hope you had a good weekend
free in answer to your CS worries I thought I'd tell you my thoughts/story; I had an elcs at 38 weeks due to baby being stubbornly breech. I felt a bit sad that it was all so 'predictable' so we just told friends/family/colleagues that we had a routine appt on DDay so there was still an element of surprise at the arrival! I found the day odd in that you wake up knowing you will rock up to hospital at the agreed time & meet your baby shortly after. However, I found the process/op/care fantastic & not sure if I was extra lucky but I found the recovery really quick too (had pictured myself stooped & shuffling for weeks!). I worried much more prior to having the CS than after & I think we would go down the same route if we make it that far again. Of course everyone is different but in my personal experience it was great & my little man scored 10 on his apgar tests immediately so he was lovely & comfy too!!! It's natural to be afraid but once you are cuddling your little bundle you really won't care how they made their entrance into the world. Getting so close now - best of luck with everything.
sarah it's great you are feeling pregnant & I seriously sympathise with the predsomnia as I suffer it too!

mollieboo · 09/07/2012 15:13

Hi sarah, good luck with your scan, when is it and are you with Mr S? He said to take only take pred until 16 weeks, but because of the complications with my son I'm having intralipids from 4-32 weeks every 4 weeks. Have they said anything similar because of your previous premature birth?

sarahs999 · 09/07/2012 15:23

Mollie, No, nothing about intralipids. I'm slightly glad in a way as there's no way we could afford them. He said to me pred until 12 weeks then tapering. Maybe once we get through this first stage (if) he'll reassess.

Scan in on 19th July.
