Confused by all the TTC talk? OPKs? Taking your temperature?! Then this is the thread for you! We want babies the good old-fashioned way - through drunken, spontaneous shagging at any time of the month Grin. All you need is a man, Wine, ramekins and a batch of cheapo pregnancy sticks, and you're good to go! (Shag-capes and actual Sex optional)

The group is so successful that you can see the results for yourself in our graduates thread full of mamas who JSed their way to motherhood. Getting a BFP within a few weeks is known as "doing a kitten", and due to the secret and magical powers of the Just Shagging thread, this happens from time to time.

We have our own TTC language - EWCM is now known as "pant snot", AF is now "ERTD" (Evil red tide of DOOM!), OV is ovulation, and of course, JSing is Just Shagging!

Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

Old thread is here if you want proof it works!

No worries!

fryingpantoface · 15/06/2012 20:06

Hello baby

We got a quicky in before his mate arrived for the football. Woo! It isn't the right time of the month, so this was definitely just for fun :-)

southlundon · 15/06/2012 20:40

Frying, that's the point of JSing though isn't it - takes the stress out of it by having lots of JS throughout the month! And if DH loves the view you have nothing to worry about, just keep the lights off or low Grin

Hiya and welcome Babyjames :) There's never any point in waiting to TTC IMO as you never know how long it's going to take :(

And Woman, perhaps you should bear that about your mum in mind in a month or so if you start popping out of your jeans...! And could you try him on a chair and you on top like that as then it'll give you a chance to work out your thigh muscles (ie doing squats)?!

babyjames · 15/06/2012 21:01

Thanks for the welcomes :)

Woman - I have prob felt ready since Christmas as DS was quite a handful of a baby health wise and with sleeping. I remember many days of going to work on less than 2hours sleep! I have been feeling really broody but DH has been adamant about only wanting 1. He has def come round now though and has been saying to DS about liking to have a brother or sister. DS said a brother from the shop! If only that easy!!!

South - DH wants to wait a bit and get money sorted as my job not that secure. I am 32 and have PCO's and took well over a year and a lot of stress / upset to catch with DS so I don't want to hang about! I have started to note down my cycle dates after I worked out my ERTD was about 10 days late in April (Really thought I was going to get BFP and tested about 6 times BFN. Made me realise how much I really did want DC2.

Practisingparent · 15/06/2012 22:49

OMG, Something, thats great! Iv been off the thread since Monday and another BFP! Mind you, when you are doing it 'like something', Id be amazed you didnt get pg... congratulations! How many shags this month?

I am still on track to PIAR tomorrow morning... exciting, have felt really pre ERTD (foul temper, cramps) all week but it hasnt arrived which it normally would after 1 day of moodiness, so feeling positive, Please be kind if u find a depressed post from me first thing tomorrow morning Sad! Wish me luck!

Practisingparent · 15/06/2012 23:09

Welcome babyjames, I know what you mean about being ready since christmas, I was dead broody around then, he made me wait another 4 months to start, by which time I had kinda gone off the idea (but back on now I think I have a chance).

Practisingparent · 16/06/2012 07:57

Well its BFN Sad but all is not lost. Im on CD35, and cycles have been between 29 and 41, its kind of hard to know when to test!

Hope you get a better result South!

southlundon · 16/06/2012 08:06

Well.... It was a BFN for me too, just like you Practising. So now I'm just waiting for ERTD to arrive any day now.

I didn't tell DH I was going to PIAR because that would have made it worse. I'll just continue on as normal.

Have good days all :)

somethingwittynot · 16/06/2012 09:08

So I did another first response this morning and got a darker line so that's all good there. Tolod my mum about splodge over text as I haven't got the balls to do it any other way...

babyjames · 16/06/2012 09:38

Thanks Practicing sorry for BFN will have fingers crossed for you. I had about 4 BFN before BFP with DS!

Congrats Something

We off out for a 3rd Birthday Party today :) Please dont rain too much!!!

AWomanCalledHorse · 16/06/2012 11:03

babyjames Grin It would be so lovely to just pick up one from the baby shop! My DH thinks our DS is a sleeping nightmare (he goes from 8pm-4/5am everyday)....so I've got no idea how he'd cope with a baby that doesn't sleep!
If we waited until we were in a financially secure position we still wouldn't be trying for our 1st!
Have fun at the party, it's looking nice here so fingers are crossed for no rain!

south & practising, sorry for your BFN's. Wine (although save it for a bit later, 11am isn't wine o'clock!).
Practising, hopefully in a week or so you'll get a bfp!
south, I don't tell DH when I'm going to PIAR, and I hide the BFN's..would hate him to have to go through the monthly upset too. I'm still not feeling 'normal' so I'll test soon...I don't think I'd enjoy a pregnancy with occasional bleeds. Not that being pg isn't crap anyhoo!

something, will she be mad at you for getting up duffed again? Is DP happy?

somethingwittynot · 16/06/2012 12:12

DP is very very happy we were watching call the midwife together and he went I want a tiny baby again! And the next day BFP! I think my mum will be okay about it but she still hasn't replied...

southlundon · 16/06/2012 12:51

Woman I'm still feeling odd but I'm trying to assume its my mind playing tricks on me so I have just hoovered the whole house (a rare occurance chez South). I do remember being in the same situation with DS though - POAS after a few days of missed ERTD and it being negative and leaving it a week or so before POAS again and it being a BFP immediately.

I guess in my case until ERTD arrives it's still a possibility. I did tell DH about an hour ago that I was 4 days late but had had a BFN just to keep him in the loop - I don't tell him when I'm testing though.

Something, how many POASs have you used now?! And I really hope you don't get grief from your DM...

somethingwittynot · 16/06/2012 18:12

haha! I've used 2 x first response 2 x superdrug and a bundle of internet cheepies. I'm a poas addict! My mum is actually quite happy as is the MIL! Doctors on tuesday wich by my dates ill be 5 weeks exactly

ChildOfThe1980s · 16/06/2012 18:45

Sorry south and practicing.

My ERTD arrived today and is very painful. :(

Practisingparent · 16/06/2012 20:38

Sorry to hear about the ERTD child, but after that its the good times again, or thats what I keep telling myself!

South, games not over till the fat red lady comes, Im going to test again on Monday, all being well. I too never tell when im testing, but usually cave later and tell him. My DH reckons i may be pg, cos of general foulness of temper... hmmm

Woman enjoying wine as we speak!

Baby, same with my dd, BFN followed by BFP a week later.

Something, how many pee sticks are needed to confirm a pg? however understand cos it doesnt feel quite real at first, good luck with it all, hope to join you soon.

southlundon · 16/06/2012 20:52

Child that's rubbish :( Definitely need lots of Wine to numb the pain?

Something that's pretty funny!

Practising if ERTD hasn't arrived by Wed I'll try again then possibly, or Thurs if I can hold out till then. I can feel something's happening down there if you know what I mean, but it's been the same since Monday which when I thought it was ERTD gearing up so I'm still not holding my breath.

Hope everyone's had a good day btwv:)

Frakiosaurus · 16/06/2012 21:20

So I'm out I think. BFN and no DH til next month... Will test again in a week to be sure but in-flight gin here I come, followed by strawberries and cream cocktails by the pool.

Congrats something! I've still not really worked out how I'd tell my mother if we're in the position of expecting another.

southlundon · 16/06/2012 21:58

Oh Frak, welcome to this month's BFN club :(

Have a fab holiday Envy Grin

fryingpantoface · 16/06/2012 22:39

Have a wonderful holiday!

fryingpantoface · 16/06/2012 22:40

Have a wonderful holiday!

AWomanCalledHorse · 17/06/2012 14:17

Frak, sorry for the BFN! Have a wonderful holiday to make up for it (if only us BFNer's could have a monthly bolt hole somewhere)!

Woohoo for happy families something, did you let them know about what happened last cycle? x
For DS I did 3 pg tests (and kept all of them, something to wave at him when he starts giving me backchat infront of mates)..anyone else with DC keep their BFP sticks?

So..I know this is JS, but at the request of DH I'm using OV sticks this month. Looking on a fertile calulator thing I should be ovulating now (based on my last ERTD)..but the last three days of OV sticks show nothing. I also PIAR today to be sure, that was a BFP. All I can think is 'secondary infertility'...and :( I'm doing the OV sticks as the instructions say (as I cba to test for more than a month), do you, JS-ers, think it's worth doing again next month?

fryingpantoface · 17/06/2012 15:22

I kept mine for ds, well two of the three.

I used ovulation kits last time, but it was still hit and miss. We ended up getting pregnant using an app, telling us when to do it, not actually doing it with an app. Was brilliant

AWomanCalledHorse · 17/06/2012 16:59

Shite. I meant a BFN!!

Ooh, apps! I will have to get DH on it (he's the one who wants to go more science-y with it so the apps can live on his phone)!

Frakiosaurus · 17/06/2012 17:22
  1. you don't ovulate every month

  2. you can have up to 6 anovulatory cycles after childbirth/stopping BFing because it's difficult for your sets of hormones to get back in sync. Likewise BFing women can ovulate with no periods.

  3. SIF is rare, misusing OV sticks is much more likely unless you per every 4 hours to catch the surge.
