Confused by all the TTC talk? OPKs? Taking your temperature?! Then this is the thread for you! We want babies the good old-fashioned way - through drunken, spontaneous shagging at any time of the month Grin. All you need is a man, Wine, ramekins and a batch of cheapo pregnancy sticks, and you're good to go! (Shag-capes and actual Sex optional)

The group is so successful that you can see the results for yourself in our graduates thread full of mamas who JSed their way to motherhood. Getting a BFP within a few weeks is known as "doing a kitten", and due to the secret and magical powers of the Just Shagging thread, this happens from time to time.

We have our own TTC language - EWCM is now known as "pant snot", AF is now "ERTD" (Evil red tide of DOOM!), OV is ovulation, and of course, JSing is Just Shagging!

Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

Old thread is here if you want proof it works!

Gah. Posted.

This isn't really holiday - it's end of posting/unemployment and catching up with family and friends. The pool bit is just a bonus as DH's parents have a lurvely chateau in the south :)

Besides it'll be well deserved after packing and flying solo with DS. Although I have done that before and he gets his own seat at great expense this time so it should be easier.

AWomanCalledHorse · 17/06/2012 17:28

Thank you Frak! I know it's almost certain not to be SIF...but you know how depressing/irritating it can be ttc.
I didn't know 1) or 2). Blush This is why I'm ttc JS-style, having to think about it makes my brain hurt.

Anyhoo, enough Me, me, me.

Hope everyone is enjoying the last little bit of weekend.

Frakiosaurus · 17/06/2012 20:33

Me me me is allowed, even necessary sometimes woman. RL TTC bites are the worst but you need to share with someone. Besides how else could you learn fun TTC facts like:

Your body produces antibodies to sperm
70% of fertilised eggs fail to even divide, let alone implant
EWCM is actually a barrier for the first 10 days or so and it falls away to unplug the cervix, giving sperm a helping hand up in the process

So really the odds of getting pregnant and it staying are about one per year...and too much knowledge can drive you crazy which is why JSing is here to keep you sane.

southlundon · 17/06/2012 21:06

Blimey Frak, are those facts meant to make us feel better?! Grin It's a bloomin miracle anyone gets pg with stats like that!

DH is out for a few hours tonight so I've watched Bridesmaids, which I thought I'd hate but LOVED, and now the footy. I'm sure there's a word for such a combination of weird opposites but brain can't think of it.

Hope you've all had lovely days. It was quite sunny up here today [wonders why there aren't weather emoticons]

lollypopsicle · 17/06/2012 21:29

Hello Ladies, just been catching up on all your news.

Mainly just checking in to say a huge congrats to something.

Horse, just a point to be wary about re an 'app'-they go on statistical probability, and your body definitely does not. I've read countless accounts of women who were timing DTD entirely wrong because they ov later/earlier than the statistical norm or they had a longer/shorter Luteal Phase than statistical norm. and don't go crazy lady like me and end up obsessed with fertility friend

Frak- you talk sense, I like reading your reality check 'focusontheshaggingladies' posts.

enjoy a productive jsing week Wink

southlundon · 18/06/2012 09:30

Morning all! The sun is shining and ERTD still hasn't arrived so I'm still in the running even after my BFN last week.

Woman I use an app too and I have found it really useful for monitoring my ERTDs and cycle lengths from month to month. I do take the OV dates with a pinch of salt though but that's why JSing EOD is a great approach Grin

Hope you all got some great JSing done this weekend. Wouldn't it be nicely ironic to conceive on Father's Day?! :)

Frakiosaurus · 18/06/2012 09:48

south Grin better, no, because it's difficult to make people feel better about not conceiving even when the changes are statistically tiny. Less bad/less guilty/less worried that something is wrong maybe. I know you all know that obsessing doesn't help but it happens to everyone and especially on something like MN where the whole range of conception experience can be found its easy to think the worst. Also be ause the longer you're here you see more other people getting BFPs when you may have only been trying 3 cycles which is statistically not long!

If we can't have Father's Day BFPs then conception will do!

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 14:59

do you all remeber how i wanted to give DP a BFP for fathers day? i peed an another stick and put a bow on it even though he already knew! Grin

Practisingparent · 18/06/2012 20:53

Hi all. Well Im out this month, ERTD got me last night. Roll on friday when JS will commence again. teach me for getting too excited after just the 1st month!

Good luck South, hope you get a better result.

Nice idea Something.

southlundon · 18/06/2012 22:17

Frak seeing those stats do make me realise that it really is a miracle though isn't it?! :)

Something you are so soppy Wink

Practising that's rubbish :( No ERTD here yet but I keep thinking it's started when it hasn't so I'm on tenterhooks at the moment although have so much work to do I could do without the distraction! I'm meant to be playing in a netball tournament on Saturday so I hope to know for certain one way or t'other by then as I think the insurance they have doesn't allow pg ladies to play so my captain would have to find another player at short notice. Although not playing would suit me as I'm rubbish anyway

AWomanCalledHorse · 19/06/2012 06:04

Frak, thanks for the facts, I am now back to JS...although no idea when, DH has been really tired/busy at work/not tonight dear I've got a headache.
I have to confess, I do lurk on the more 'serious' conception thread, just to get some perspective when I'm bitching about not getting a BFP when I've already got a baby.

south, 2? TWO sunny days?! In a row? You should PIAR, because that's a miracle. Will you wait until last min Saturday or will captain need longer notice?

Lolly, I have no idea what a Luteal Phase is, sounds like a Dance Music subculutre/genre; 'Oh, have you heard that new Daft Park?' 'Yeah, it's sooo Luteal Phase'.

something Grin You just needed an excuse to POA(nother)S, you addict!

Practising, boo & hiss your ERTD. Enjoy the next few days 'off'.

babyjames · 19/06/2012 08:00

Morning all. Just checking in. I always read your posts but with a monkey Ridley and full time work time to post is limited! What cycle day are we all on now? Think I am 15 but have varying cycles! Xxx

southlundon · 19/06/2012 08:40

Morning BabyJames. Is 'monkey Ridley' a typo for something else?! Grin

Woman you made me laugh with that Daft Punk reference! I reckon Luteal Phase is a great name for a band!

I'll test again tomorrow morning or Thursday if I can't last that long...

Oh and I bit the bullet Frak and others who were discussing work a week or two ago - I told my boss that I was really behind with that publication because the final version is meant to be sent to a group or people this Thurs and there is no way it'll be done by then :( I'm talking to him some point this morning about it so I hope he doesn't get too angry with me :(

babyjames · 19/06/2012 08:51

'Monkey Ridley' would be Monkey Toddler!!! I'm terrible for not noticing these things on my phone!
GGrrr boo hiss to those of us having tough times at work. I faced redundancy last year had to apply for and changer job in company and last week told that our jobs not safe again!!! I find job stressful and hard going but can't afford not to have it :(

On the TTC front am trying not to get myself as stressed out as last time. Just trying to keep track of where in cycle I am at moment.

Have a good day everyone x

AWomanCalledHorse · 19/06/2012 09:18

Grin You sure Monkey Ridley isn't Luteal Phase's new album baby?
So sorry that you're going through such job stresses, fingers crossed that you're safe.
And South, I hope your boss isn't too angry with you. x

somethingwittynot · 19/06/2012 09:40

i am an addict i cant help it! GP today to get the ball rolling Grin
found out weve got a family thing on saturday and my evil SIL is going to be there. im only going for DPs sake. not sure my hormones can cope with much of her.

so how is everyone doing?

fryingpantoface · 19/06/2012 10:39

Im still waiting for my first ertd after having the implant out.

It was removed on 12th, so a week ago. I was told the ertd should be here by now. The last time I got it removed, it took 7 weeks. Urg.

It's the first time I've ever wanted to come on.

southlundon · 19/06/2012 11:01

Wow, seven week wait Frying, that's harsh. Did they tell you how long it'll be until your fertility settles back down?

Something good luck this morning! Why is your SIL evil? I call my SIL (my DBro's wife) a poison dwarf Angry

fryingpantoface · 19/06/2012 12:46

They said it would be back to normal in 48 hours. Liars.

I'm all bloated and feeling crap, so I hope it's coming back soon.

I'm also still getting phantom kicks from being pregnant. My son is 9 months now, it started when he was six months old. several poas later, still neg, but I can feel the kicks with my hands. very odd.

I don't like one of my sils too

babyjames · 19/06/2012 13:32

Awoman - a fine name for an album don't you thing?! That made me laugh :)
Job stress sucks but am trying not to let it stress me too much as don't want to impact on TTC. Day off today and where is the sun?! Off for a forest walk when DS wakes up.

No idea when I OV as I have PCOS. Think when I caught with DS we JS every day for a month and am just to tired for that these days!!!

somethingwittynot · 19/06/2012 15:58

so have just been to the doctors and she was lovely. has sent of my refferal for an early pregnancy scan and ill get the appt through the post

have my booking next thursday

fryingpantoface · 19/06/2012 15:59

That's brilliant something

somethingwittynot · 19/06/2012 16:12

hope it comes soon

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 19/06/2012 16:36

Hello all - needed a break from work so have sneaked on for a catch up on everybody's news.

Funnily enough I have a SIL who my DP calls the poison dwarf! I thought it was just one of his sayings - but maybe its more common... Aren't siblings nice Smile (says the only child who would have loved a brother or sister but all my friends seem to say how lucky I am to be an only!)

something I seem to remember you had some problems with your previous pregnancy - is that why you get an early scan? I'm guessing that you need to have special reasons to get an early glimpse?

Well I had a quiet night last night, so tonight I will be JSing! DP realises somethings going on - and keeps refering to my randiness as 'sperm extraction'. The good thing is he seems to like the idea and is more than happy to oblige Grin

southlundon · 19/06/2012 16:53

Stuck you are good - my breaks from work occur too often, hence being behind on one of my projects :(

I had an early scan with DS because I had some spotting and they sent me off for one. It was so reassuring that I remember at the time thinking I should lie next time just to have an early scan again Blush

Something if you had problems last time round, I'm even more in awe that you have jumped back on the bandwagon again do soon!
