Confused by all the TTC talk? OPKs? Taking your temperature?! Then this is the thread for you! We want babies the good old-fashioned way - through drunken, spontaneous shagging at any time of the month Grin. All you need is a man, Wine, ramekins and a batch of cheapo pregnancy sticks, and you're good to go! (Shag-capes and actual Sex optional)

The group is so successful that you can see the results for yourself in our graduates thread full of mamas who JSed their way to motherhood. Getting a BFP within a few weeks is known as "doing a kitten", and due to the secret and magical powers of the Just Shagging thread, this happens from time to time.

We have our own TTC language - EWCM is now known as "pant snot", AF is now "ERTD" (Evil red tide of DOOM!), OV is ovulation, and of course, JSing is Just Shagging!

Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

Old thread is here if you want proof it works!

Lolly I missed your post about seeing Maximo Park next week. I knew Archis (bass player) really well at uni and he had a band with Duncan (guitar) which my mates and I used to follow obsessively. The first few tiny MP gigs were so much fun

In face I think I still have the t-shirt from that first band!

lollypopsicle · 31/05/2012 16:21

south I'm well jel! Envy 'earthly pleasures' is one of my all time favourite albums. I've never seen them live and I can't wait. Seeing them at the glee club in B'ham. I've been to a few gigs there and they're always great- really intimate and great acoustics.

something sending hugs to you and your little DS.

Trying desperately not to symptom spot at the moment. Off to make a lasagne to take my mind off it all...

southlundon · 31/05/2012 16:43

Lolly is ERTD late? Ooooh. They are brilliant live. It was never the same when me and my uni friend saw them at a festival. We couldn't exactly go 'yoo hoo it's us!' and then Archis changed his mobile number and it all fizzled out :(

For the rest of us who are still in JSing mode, have you seen this thread?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1484664-so-tell-me-just-WHY-is-hands-in-hair-kissing-so-swoony?pg=1

It's rather good Wink

Kittenkatzen · 31/05/2012 16:53

I was reading that thread earlier :) have to agree with the hands in hair thing!

Am also Envy of the MP concert lolly and even more EnvyEnvy of south's claim to MP fame! Apply Some Pressure is one of my fave tracks to get me going at the gym when I'm not in the mood :)

somethingwittynot · 31/05/2012 16:53

he seems to be doing ok we just had a smile as he was nodding of.

SunshineandChoccy · 31/05/2012 17:23

Gulp something my only tip for you now is drink two massive cups of super strong ginseng the kind you get in holland & Barrett's. It saved me when I was writing dissertation and time was running out - the only down side is it makes you feel like you are HIGH on drugs very floaty sensation or as if you are hovering!!!! Grin

something I hope your ds gets better soon. Sometimes they need these things to help them build up a strong immune system

SunshineandChoccy · 31/05/2012 17:26

Oops sorry the first part was for south Blush

lollypopsicle · 31/05/2012 17:31

south Grin to that thread.
As for ERTD, I thought it was late but when I looked at past dates it might not be Hmm I should have sign of it by Sunday so going to push it to the back of my mind til then, in all honesty I'm not hopeful this month but have felt nauseous all day. However, that probably has more to do with the three 2 glasses of cava I had last night!

AmazeballsSuperFandango · 31/05/2012 18:10

So i have decided that last night we conceived...
We haven caught an ovulation as good as this unless i have just sore ovaries today.... i dont do any of that testing or charting at all so i can only guess.

Something glad he seems on the mend :)

Sunshine I read that as being floaty as if on drugs or hoovering!

Cos hoovering always makes me high! Hmm Grin

ChildOfThe1980s · 31/05/2012 20:08

Huge congrats babylan !

Welcome newbies.
Good luck South

I am on day 18 and have had achey boobies for the last two days. I usually only get that just before ERTD- I hope it doesn't arrive just yet!

MissMarjoribanks · 31/05/2012 22:07

something hope your DS is OK.

minerva my DS was prem as well, so I know how much its an extra worry on top of everything else.

Well ERTD in full swing here. Work was not fun this morning, felt faint and nauseous whilst people kept asking questions I needed to give sensible answers to. 14 hour day as well which hasn't helped.

Oh well, onwards and upwards. JSing underway in a few days and at least I can have a drink at the wedding we're at this weekend.

topbannana · 31/05/2012 22:57

something hope all is well with DS Thanks
It moves so quick on here its quite difficult to keep up sometimes! Apologies if I have missed anything vital, I have been on my phone for the last couple of days (the temptation to MN all day is much less if I keep the laptop hidden :o)

All well here. ERTD or MC or whatever it was is gone and to be honest, it has done us a huge favour. We have been TTC for so long that we almost seem to have forgotten the reasoning behind it. We have talked more the last couple of days than we probably ever have, and we have the added bonus that now we know my relic of a DH is still up to the task (he is irrationally pleased by this in a sort of bashful/ chuffed sort of way :o)

So its a long weekend for us, then off on holiday on the 12th (:o) so one month of JSing left. Then we quit drinking and just about everything else for a couple of months and then reassess from there. I hope to remain an honorary member of the JSing thread during this time, despite being greatly more involved than JSing Hmm

somethingwittynot · 01/06/2012 07:49

so he took a turn for the worse last night and was finding it hard to breath they have placed him in the peads itu just so hes there if he needs it. there is so many manchines and trollies, DP put the tv on but its just been flickering in the background, it all seems totally different from when i was in hdu.

Frakiosaurus · 01/06/2012 08:05

Are the doctors and nurses being kind and explaining things? Don't hesitate to ask them any questions you need.

top course you can stay. There's definitely precedent...

south how's that writing going? I despair of everything I have to do the next 4 weeks.

MissM long bath and wine? Hope you feel less ERTDish soon.

lolly fingers crossed for you. Just keep forgetting it and then you can be all surprised when you find out.

awoman do you have any family locally? Or events you can go to? What does your DH do that's he's having to work?

I don't think I welcomed the newbies last time I popped on! amazeballs I keep reading the end of your name as fanjo...been on MN too long!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 01/06/2012 08:16

Marking finished and in for moderating, phew. Just catching up on everything...

Something I'm so sorry to hear your DS is so poorly Sad. Thinking of you.

Bannana glad you and OH have reconnected, even if not the most pleasant of circumstances - everything happens for a reason as they day.

I've decided my period is never arriving (2weeks late today) and I'm just going to JS until I balloon and it becomes obvious I am pregnant.

May JS all weekend, we're going on holiday next week but we're staying with friends so the opportunities my be limited.

JosieSmith1 · 01/06/2012 08:41

Ooo I just posted on that thread Grin

Something I hope your DS is ok (hugs)

At this stage, if I lay naked on my bathroom floor with hair dye DH would think I?d had an accident and would kindly help me up Hmm He doesn?t ?do? spontaneous SWI anymore Grin

Kittenkatzen · 01/06/2012 09:33

josie :o:o at you draping yourself over the bathroom floor all sexy-like only for DH to come in and gallantly pop you back on your feet :o

something so sorry your DS is poorly, hopefully the doctors will put him right very soon

Well ERTD arrived this morning, which I'm actually pleased about as it means my body still works after 14 years on the pill, so that's good :)

Wine and Chocolate for everyone (cos I'm in a good mood today!) - here's hoping for a whole bunch of jubilee babies!

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 01/06/2012 10:20

Well i finally find some time to MN and find that the thread is huuuuge! So will spend probably an hour catching up!

Firstly - lots of positive vibes and good luck for something's poorly DS
Secondly - am very happy to see that there's been plenty of JS'ing going on and may we all have the energy to continue!

I had a good spell a week or so ago - but this week at work has been crazy so I think the last time was Sunday. Plan is to sleep tonight and tomorrow morning is a duvet day when I have the energy to jump on DP and hopefully keep it up for the long weekend...

I'll add myself to the list below, even tho I probably only catch up every couple of weeks. Am on countdown to ERTD in 8 days - so will no doubt be back then as i get all twitchy as to whether this months JS has worked!

Morning all.

Something I pray your little boy is getting better? It must be a horrible thing to go through but I'm sure the hospital are doing their best. Any idea how he caught it?

Frak and Child - well I'm massively behind and am meant to be sending the first draft to the working group today, plus my line manager and I am actually working on it! Shock In fact, right this minute I'm invigilating for an exam (as a volunteer for my organisation) and managed to put my documents onto my iPad via Dropbox which seems to be working well. Typing on it is fun too and perhaps the change in approach is stirring my writing juices. I don't have Internet though on my iPad and I realise I need another important paper to really get stuck in but I'm doing what I can.

I should point out that I'm not actually employed as a writer but it's just one part of what I do, hence why I find it tricky.

Must get on - 90 mins left in the exam...

southlundon · 01/06/2012 11:57

And Stuck - nice to have someone else in the NW :)

Kittenkatzen · 01/06/2012 13:28

((hugs josie)) :(

would concetrating on why she's your "ex" bf help you care less? Wink

somethingwittynot · 01/06/2012 15:05

thankyou everyone hes perked up a bit i think. hes raising his eyebrows and smiling in his sleep probably dreaming of daddy Grin done all the fathers day and DPs birthday shopping from my phone as dont want to leave. the hospital is made up of private rooms wich is nice when youve got a tiny one but cant be to good for the other children. theres over 100 private rooms on the postnantal alone! and about 30 on antenatal i remeber those numers well and then 2 maternity HDUs on the delivary suiete
