TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Thanks for the positivity! If it helps anyone out there, I have been on Microgynon pill since I was about 15 and for the last 10 years of that time, took it DAILY... NO breaks/ERTD for 10 years... It took about 2 months for periods etc to settle into a 'regular' cycle, so I feel pretty lucky that all seems to have went back to 'normal' so quickly! BFP thoughts all round :)

(*no such thing as 'regular' or 'normal')

NicolaHazel · 05/06/2012 11:34

I've just come off Microgynon after 4 packs, previously on the injection for 3 years. I really hope I bounce back as quick as you Sazza. :-)

It's good to get experiences from others.

Pinkie29 · 05/06/2012 11:36

Nicola - nowhere near as active! Concentrated our best efforts around ov and had a week off just after due to his shifts!

NicolaHazel · 05/06/2012 11:41

If I don't fall this month (unlikely), at least I'll then have some idea of my cycle when ERTD comes!

I'll test on 30th June if no ERTD though.

Think Vitex is a good idea though.

Hey ladies! Just spotted this thread and wanted to say hello. Sorry if I repeat anything here haven't read the whole thread and hope you don't mind me posting, I just found this useful.

Currently pregnant with first child and because of my job we planned with military precision lol. I wanted to get pregnant in January and we did, inspite of me being mid-thirties, DH early 40's and me being overweight. Things that helped were:

  1. Clear Blue Fertility Monitor - expensive but worth it! I used it for a few months before TTC to get a sense of cycle and it's great! I have a very regular 28 day cycle but using it found my actual OV moved about a bit from day 11 to day 16. It was my friend told me about it after trying for a while with no joy, GP told her to use OPK sticks and she got pregnant straight away.
  1. Pre-seed lubricant which is very sperm friendly and helps the swimmers get to where they need to, acts like EWCM.
  1. I did the old 'stay on yer back' :o thing for ten minutes afterwards - couldn't have done any harm!

Sorry if this is stuff you are already doing but I really found it useful and only learned it from others - so passing it on! Good luck to you all! x

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 11:47

We tried concentrating around OV but I never had the positive OPK .

We decided they are a waste of money so decided to doth everything this month on account of it finally hitting a very bad low last month.

next month will do preseed, evening primrose oil and vitex. also will ask doc to see if can go on clomid

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 11:48

doth should be ditch

QueenOfTheDrama · 05/06/2012 11:56

I might try preseed next month too, can't do any harm I guess?

MissMedusa · 05/06/2012 11:59

I've never had a positive OPK either but possibly due to only ever being able to test early in the morning (see other thread). Will try again this month.
Also starting evening primrose this month as, while I always have a lot of cm, I can't always tell whether it's ewcm. We'll see if either of these things work.

This cycle is more about me learning about my cycles and my fertility signs as DH will be in hospital for an operation. He should be home around the time when I'm fertile but I'm not counting on him being in the mood to BD. That said, I've become the master of the "just lay back and I'll do all the work".

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 12:20

OPKs have too many what ifs for my liking.

there is sometimes a very small gap for your OPK to pick up the surge plus time of day etc etc

i just DTD all the time now. can't be arsed to bother with trying to exact sex with DTD with no other natural help. i prefer the helping the sperm along :)

MissMedusa · 05/06/2012 12:29

I think loads of swi is really the best way.

Remember the good old days when we waited until we were married to DTD and by the time that rolled around we were so horny we couldn't keep our hands off each other? That's when you're supposed to conceive . . . not when you've been together 7 years and sometimes watching Mad Men wins out over DTD ;-)

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 12:35

yep everyone i have spoken to has taken note of their fertile time but have relaxed and DTD as often throughout the entire cycle as possible.

Pinkie29 · 05/06/2012 12:39

Kicking I could be wrong but don't think you can do vitex with clomoid? I mean I don't even know if any of what we done helped or just coincidence but defo believe the vitex helped my cycle i ovd day 28 last time!

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 12:45

oh hold on vitex helps regulate cycles? and shorten them?

mine are 28 - 29 days so i probably don't need it?

DulcetMoans · 05/06/2012 13:14

I don't really know when my most fertile time is. Was never on the pill and didn't really note down cycles. Just dealt with it as and when. It's only really mattered now we are trying, but I am a bit reluctant to try and track it. Think JSing might be the way forward for me for now!

NicolaHazel · 05/06/2012 13:25

Sooo...just ordered 15 cheapie tests from Amazon! I have one Superdrug one already, thanks to the pill not agreeing with me and making me think I was pregnant a couple of months ago.

At least I won't feel like I'm (literally) pissing my money away with cheap tests!

Don't think I'm going to share my purchase on Facebook though, Amazon, but thanks for the offer!

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 13:36

dulcet i was the same. i just noted cycles because i liked to know when i was due.

humpalot is definitely easier!

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 13:37

i have those tests as well :)

and i found 5 more from when we had chem pg in December

i think i should be ok with tests now

Pinkie29 · 05/06/2012 13:45

Kicking it helps and regulates but it apparently has other uses where getting pg is concerned, when I looked into it so many women swore Vitex got them pg?

KickingUpQuestions · 05/06/2012 14:18

cool i will look into that before clomid. or just get the script but take it if the vitex doesnt work

QueenOfTheDrama · 05/06/2012 15:01

medusa "sometimes watching mad men wins out over dtd" Grin

I have cheapie tests too, wish the next week would hurry up so I can use them!

Kittenkatzen · 05/06/2012 16:05

Ooh would someone mind linking to the cheapy tests on amazon for me please? I was wanting to get some but haven't been sure which to go for really. Thanks Smile

dulcet re tracking your cycles, if you have an iPhone I can highly recommend the iPeriod app (recommended to me by queen iirc. It's really handy, you can put as much or as little info in as you like and it just quietly counts the days for you.

NicolaHazel · 05/06/2012 16:20

Hi Kitten, I've plumped for these:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0026RQ75W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

No idea how good they are, but these seem to be the ones that everyone sells as cheapies!

NicolaHazel · 05/06/2012 16:21

Or www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0026RQ75W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 in fact, to make it easier!

Kittenkatzen · 05/06/2012 16:25

Fab, thank you SmileSmile
