Argh, and be welcome to our new pirate Fred. Be finding yourself a parrot and a wooden leg and hop on board for the trip of a lifetime. Argh.
If ye be new and wantin' to join our motley crew, be filling in the BESHtionnaire application below. Argh.

  1. Do you like gin? (This is compulsory, you must say 'Yes')

    b) poopoo
    c) foofoo
    d) none, you just pray to the baby Jebus.

That's a "c", right there...

  2. What are your views on camping?

  3. How much money have you spent on sticks you then urinate on?
    i) Oh nothing, I'll probably catch first time and then get the doctor to confirm it.
    ii) Over 100 quid
iii) I opened an account on ebay solely for the purpose of purchasing sticks

Finally, tell us how you found the BESH and why you'd like to join us pliz.

Ah cavey it's just too early! Even if you got a bfp now, you'd be on tenterhooks tenderhooks? not trusting the result!
I too prefer Droid to bfn hence why I didn't test this weekend.
I have decided to start charting again this cycle. Gives me more idea of when I ov and when Droid is due.
Right. It's such a gorgeous day here. Must do something!

CaveMum · 11/03/2012 12:49

I know, I know, I know!

No chance of me POASing on any more, I've not got any sticks left in the house. I knew it was far too early, but why do I do this to myself?'

We're off to that there London shortly - we're going to Douglas Adams virtual 60th birthday celebration at Hammersmith Apollo.

I've been wanting to visit Tallinn for years - and I love Budapest, do those get my vote for your mini-trip. That said, TOM and I are headed to Berlin in a month, so I'm also advocating that locale.

And for a nasty jealous obnoxious slightly relieved update on the young MNer who on her first month ttc got her BFP on day 6dpo? Well, she's now getting BFNs...reality checks all around. Sad

Had a dream last night that I got two luffly pink lines on a stick test. As we're still on the ttc sidelines, maybe I'm in prediction mode for my fellow BESH?

Europa Glad you're taking some time for yourself before jumping into the IVF.

Now, batten down the hatch cause methinks a big wind is blowin' in! An' don't be fergettin' your limes this week - thar'll be no scurvy wenches on this ship!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 11/03/2012 19:35

Ah, not good for the poor early starter, hence my policy against early testing.
I dream about bfps a lot...will have to pinch myself when I really do get one!
I've been pottering mostly. Seen my family. Amused by Dnephew making us both be Buzz Lightyear jumping off a low wall. It's funny because he can't say infinity..he says to xxxx and beyond ! :)
Now just chilling and trying to get into Mad Men. It's not as exciting as I'd hoped..

I am confused by the woman who posted that thread. I am not sure she has a clue what she is talking about. On one thread she has only been off the pill for a couple of weeks and on another she is having pregnancy tests come out positive. Or negative, or whatever. Someone else has advised her to get a grip!

Anyway, never test before 11dpo is a rule that has served me well. 12 is better. Before 11 is a waste of piss and a waste of stick. Obviously I have learnt this by doing the opposite and wasting sticks....

euro hope taking a break is helpful for you and makes you feel better

dot hope you have a lovely break in Jersey.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 11/03/2012 19:59

Yes k&k I went to post but decided there was nothing more to be said! I used to be like that, poas cheapos left, right and centre, squinting for hours.
I now won't poas til Droid is due, or generally now, not at all. MSB wanted me to poas this weekend but my gut instinct was Droid would come Saturday and it did. Bfn is just too disheartening. I think I'll go back to charting, I prefer to see a temp drop as my Droid warning.

OP posts:
FriendofDorothy · 11/03/2012 20:01

Right me'hearties I apologise for what I am about to ask but I feel like I am menkulling a bit at the moment. I also apologise for what will, inevitably be, too much information.

The droid arrived on Saturday, but it is a weird one. Usually I get lots of lower cramping and quite a heavy bleed and a bit clotty. This time I have much higher pain, almost under my ribs, I feel a bit sick and instead of a heavy bleed there is a little blood and lots of what feels like EWCM. It just doesn't feel normal. Someone please slap me and tell me to get over myself and that it is just the normal metal fucker with a different face on.

KatAndKit · 11/03/2012 20:06

It might be the normal metal fucker but if you have a feeling that something is up don't ignore it entirely especially if you are in pain. If it is the normal droid then you'll likely know about it soon enough and you'll get some proper blood. Do you know for sure if you ovulated this month? Has it been a normal cycle?

If it isn't enough blood to be a normal period and you are pretty sure it isn't an anovulatory cycle then you'll need to look into it. You could complain to the doctors about the pain and they'll probably do a free dipstick test for you.

FriendofDorothy · 11/03/2012 20:10

I had a weird month in terms of ovulation. The CBFM reckoned I peaked at day 9 and 10 but FF and my temps seem to think I ovulated on day 15. Other than that it has been normal.

I guess I will just see if it is a normal droid. If it still feels odd I will have to POAS on Tuesday to make sure because if there is any chance I am diffed they won't do the hycosy. Obviously!

Thanks for the fish.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 11/03/2012 21:46

You know me, will sometimes poas cd3 just to fuel the menkul. Could the pain be trapped wind? I get pain round there sometimes...I agree best plan is now, wait it out if pain remains the same. Get medical attention if it gets worse. I poas with fmu the morning of my Hsg just to be 100% sure.

OP posts:
Northey · 12/03/2012 07:32

Weird, dot. Was Saturday when you were expecting droid? Are you still in pain today? How bad is it?

FriendofDorothy · 12/03/2012 07:34

No the pain has eased. It now seems a more normal, although still very light. I suspect it is just a rogue droid. :(

sinkingflameofhilarity · 12/03/2012 07:57

Stupid droid.

Can I use the BESH for a confession. My madness had stooped to new depths. My friend has just announced her 7 week ivf pregnancy, and I'm really struggling to be happy for her internally, because I think I deserve it more than her. I feel a bit dirty writing that. Hers was male factor, and last summer she told me her plan, GP in oct, clinic dec, ivf jan and baby nov. how I scoffed. TTC newby etc. but it only bloody worked for her eh?

And 2 other new baby's this weekend and 2 baby showers next. (Boak. Fortunately I'm on nights and have gd excuse to avoid)

As you were sailors. I'll be scrubbing the deck...

Avast me hearties!

Sorry I know nothing about O-sticks, bugs.

skinking, I am currently fuming resentfully about a friend of mine diffed with her second. She is one of those people who have utterly charmed lives and it is just not fair.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 12/03/2012 16:17

howdy Ahoy there me hearties.

Fanks bugs and northey. I still feel mean, but less abnormal...

Also no idea about ov sticks. I assumed they didn't work for me as never got a peak, but only did once a day..

Anyone got any thoughts about a 7day post ov level of 120? Seems a bit bloody high. Felt really bloated and off this month, and together with the insomnia have freaked myself out about ovarian hyperstimulation.. I may not be poas, but I am channeling my menkul in new and innovative ways...

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 12/03/2012 16:59

Ah sinkers I'm just the same. Girl brought her 5 week old baby in and I'm a total b*tch cos she had an Mc but I could barely say hi and fake coo :(
That level sounds good. Don't panic Mr Mannering!
I know little about ov sticks either, never got a yes from them but I'm tight and only ever bought cheap ones I started charting again from today though.
Well I seem to have broken my kidneys. Seriously uncomfortable. What's going on?!

OP posts:
KatAndKit · 12/03/2012 17:27

Hello bugs I used ov sticks and because I am a piss addict I did loads of them (internet buy in bulk cheapies).
I started 3 days after the end of my period, which for me was usually cd9. But you can start as soon as droid is gone especially with a shorter than 28 days cycle.
At cd9 I'd only do one a day, usually late afternoon when I got in from work.
As soon as I started to see any sort of line developing I'd add in a first morning one too. And definitely from cd 11-12 I did 2 a day - first morning and afternoon. Afternoon usually quite concentrated because not much chance to go for a wee when teaching!

I found with the cheapies I would not get a line that was definitely darker than the control (i was going to switch to higher sensitivity but then I got diffed). However, I did learn to recognise what my darkest result was and if I got a "dark enough" line at around cd15 or 16 I assumed it was the positive. When I was using the Shag Dictator along with the cheapies (yes, overkill, I know, I loved pissing on sticks) the "good enough" line was good enough to produce 3 bars and an egg on the machine.

As soon as I got a "good enough" line I tried to make sure I could get a shag in the same day.

Basically, don't agonise over how dark the line is. If it looks like it might be a positive it probably is. Have a shag anyway. The worse that can happen is that next days test will be even darker and you'll have to have yet another shag.

That is the sum total of my knowledge of ovulation predictor tests!

sinkingflameofhilarity · 12/03/2012 17:29

Broken kidneys faithy? Sounds uncomfy. Worth seeing anyone about or just niggling?

bugs, for what it's worth, people seem to do them am and then mid afternoon (a peak around 3-4ish...?), but that is entirely unscientific, "I spend too long reading forums about this crap" info.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 12/03/2012 17:32

Ah, x-post with kat who quite clearly has more knowledge than me!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 12/03/2012 18:24

kat is a font of knowledge!
I will have to see how I go and make have to make a trip to the GP tomorrow if it continues...
