Ooh I have been to Salzburg! yes. Tis marvellous if you are a big Sound of music fan and I am! there's a tour and everything! It is a beautiful city, worth a long weekend but wouldn't dwell much longer than that. Definitely can do hand holding and I e. ream eating there.

CaveMum · 10/03/2012 22:43

Prague is lovely. We were only there for 2 nights but it was good fun. We visited the castle, the astronomical clock, wandered about generally and also did had dinner on a boat on the river.

Northey · 10/03/2012 22:49

Ooh. They both sound good options then. AMNH is keen on st Petersburg, but I feel like i'd rather go there for snowy romance. I can't really imagine it in April.

FriendofDorothy · 10/03/2012 22:54

I loved Prague. Definitely wandering-around-potential.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 10/03/2012 22:57

Oh I've always wanted to go to Russia...I had a Russian penpal for a few years then randomly, long story did gcse Russian. But yes, snowy Russia. Europe in the spring.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 10/03/2012 23:37

I like Paris, but can easily imagine you might have 'done' that. If you want something a bit different I can reccoment doing a tour of the Scottish islands- wr up there then ferry it around Islay, Sky, Mull etc. v romantic I thought.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 10/03/2012 23:38

Bloody hell. I had a couple of glasses of wine at the quiz (which we won) , but that last post is near unintelligible! Apologies.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 10/03/2012 23:45

it appears sinking is why the rum has gone!
Well done winning the quiz! :)

OP posts:
sinkingflameofhilarity · 10/03/2012 23:49

Fanks. I think my knowledge of 80s pop and ZZ-top (don't ask) helped. Maybe a couple of glasses were 6... Meybeeees. But don't tell the TTC police, okay?

Teehee

eurochick · 10/03/2012 23:53

(That was me wandering in on my peg leg....)

fee Letrozole made me ovulate later on the first cycle, and then a day or two earlier than normal when the dose was upped for cycles 2 and 3. But then I was ovulating at about the right time before it (days 14-16). I think if you have a really long cycle, it should bring ov forward.

Norfy I've been to Vienna. The main thing I remember is the cold! We went in Jan and it was about minus 14. Brrrr. There are lots of museums and things but it's not somewhere I would rush back to. Stockholm on the other hand I loved. I also adored Venice and Seville. Bruges is also nice for the kind of wandering you mention, but the weather might be a bit hit and miss there in April.

This evening I am mostly feeling fat. I've been trying on my holiday clothes. Most of which were last worn on my honeymoon when I was about half a stone lighter. The steroids are evil. It has absolutely nothing to do with the vast quantities of chocolate I pack away oh no

sinkingflameofhilarity · 11/03/2012 00:05

Oh, yes Euro. I lived just out of Stockholm for a while. I luffed it. Can't quite convince ghj about the wonders of Scandinavia, but it's a great city. Spring/summer is just as nice as winter (and less likely to get stuck in snow drift)

KatAndKit · 11/03/2012 04:59

northey I can wholeheartedly recommend Budapest. Me and Mr K had a fantastic 4 night break there the year before last in October. Some nice walking around and architecture stuff to look at, Castle district had nice walking and cafés.
And the outdoor steam baths at the Seczeni baths or however it was spelled was divine.

The wine wasn't bad either!

Northey · 11/03/2012 07:07

You're up early, kat!

Ok. Hmm. Some lovely suggestions there which sadly I or we have already been to. Not that that necessarily matters, but I just fancy somewhere new. So discounting those ones leaves Budapest, Prague, Salzburg and Seville. And although I personally love the Sound of Music, if that's a big part of the Salzburg experience I might have to leave it, as it would be a bit cruel to subject AMNH to it. So Budapest, Prague and Seville for further investigation then. Hurrah!

Bastard steroids, euro! Half a stone shouldn't be impossible to shift though (albeit in normal non steroidal circumstances). Or you could treat yourself to a few new things - you definitely deserve a treat at the moment. How was the chat with your friend by the way? Did I miss an update? Have you decided what you are going to do about this cycle?

Congrats on quiz victory, hilarity!

blonderthanred · 11/03/2012 07:47

I would luff to go to Prague or Budapest, def sound vair romantic. We loved Berlin, wasn't expecting to but it was amazing. Also Bruges but I think you said you have been there.

Oh and yo-ho-ho m'hearties. Arrrrrrr.

Northey · 11/03/2012 07:55

Ooh, AMNH suggested Berlin but I wasn't keen. I may have to reinstate it as an option!

Of course really I should be sailig for the south seas. Arrrr. .

eurochick · 11/03/2012 08:06

I also liked Budapest. We went at Easter and the weather was mixed but ok. Watch out for pickpockets there. My rucksack got unzipped in a crowd. Luckily nothing was taken but I think it was very close! It's the only place something like that has happened to me.

Norfy I ended up seeing my friend yesterday rather than Friday as I was too much of a teary wreck on Friday night. By the time she came I had reached a decision to push IVF for one cycle at least. This makes lots of sense from a practical perspective as I have a very busy month at work in April and less so in May. It also gives me one cycle completely free of hormones (this one), which is probably a good thing in terms of levelling off my emotions. Also, my clinic is moving buildings at the beginning of May and they can't move fresh embryos. They made an assessment last week that they could get me through before the move, but it'll be pretty close. So if my body doesn't respond quite as expected to the drugs, I would worry that they cycle would have to be abandoned as I would end up with fresh embryos over move time. And finally, it just gives me some headspace to think about whether I want to do it. Basically I am pushing off when I have to take the decision to do it! But as soon as I made the decision to push it back, I felt like a weight had been lifted. My friend pointed out there is also a control thing going on. She reminded me that whenever I feel pushed into something, my stubborn nature makes me push back. I feel like Im being rushed into IVF, so by pushing it back by a month (or more) I regain control.

On a lighter note, from Seville you can easily pop over to Jerez and see that as well. We went in August when loads of stuff was closed, but there is a great camera obscura in Jerez that was fun.

BESHies, I'm sort of* taking this month off between superov and IVF, so I am planning on being on here less and just trying to forget about ttc for a bit. Don't worry if you don't see me around that much.

However, I have worked out that I should be oving when I am on a plane somewhere over the Atlantic. Time to join the mile high club? Wink

*I'm not going back to using contraception or anything daft, just trying to think about it less.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 11/03/2012 08:28

Sounds lik a good plan euro. Good luck with the drug free, less hormonal, month (I did love your 'hormone cyclone'). Hope the drugs you got delivered can be stored for may.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 11/03/2012 08:52

Brilliant plan euro. Like you say, you need to have some control in the situation. If the clinic is moving, I think.it makes sense to hang fire for the month. You need a ttc holiday! We'll surely miss you but understand why you need to hang back for a bit.
Droid was so light yesterday I was a bit Hmm but tis ok, turned into a horror flick overnight Confused

faithy have a feeble yay to the onslaught.

Still have a week till I'll even consider testing, but should there be any clump of cells, after last night they'll be well and truly pickled.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/03/2012 09:08

Yohoho - you are up EARLY. Me being proud at sitting at the desk (working, clearly!) at 9am on a Sunday morning to find loads of posts. I did have a real life til about 8pm last night and then took the rest of the evening to recover. No not copious amounts of rum (well done sinking) but dinner with three under 4s (and their parents). Everyone cried...

Euro I totally get your plan to join the mile high club and being here less makes sense too. Glad you are feeling a bit better already.

Shanty songs dot wow! Did you do well?

And on weekend breaks - LOVED Berlin (even if it was -20 when we were there, but there was compensatory gluhwein), Seville (The Food, The Wine, Snogging like teenagers in backstreets) and only been to Vienna with my dad (am planning on dragging SB there in May, though). And the others are on my wishlist too!

And now I must do something. Fair winds to you me wenches!

FriendofDorothy · 11/03/2012 09:31

I have heard that some of the place in in Eastern Europe such as Talinn are really nice.

The concert went well last night despite feeling really underprepared and miming some of the words!

I am feeling pretty ropey today. I have really bad stomach cramps and feel like shit. I just want to get on with this HSG on Wednesday and then The Mister and I am going to Jersey for a few days.

euro I hope you have a nice brain-break from thinking about TTC all the time c

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 11/03/2012 09:53

Me have handed poxy assignment in and still most of Sunday in front of me (ignores the pile of reading still to be done!) Me thinking SB and me will hoist sails and set forth into RL.

Well done on the mime concert dot and a great plan for some time away after the HSG. Me dudnot think it bad at all...

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 11/03/2012 10:41

Well done me lemon hearty!
Me has showered and returned to me cabin. Feel like crap.
dor it's good you've got a break planned after Hsg. It's another thing to get done that moves you along in the journey.

Arrrggghhh! (and not in a pirate fashion!) I am a moron! I'm 7dpo and I've POAS'd. Of course it was bloody negative, I'm only 7dpo!

This is why I try not to keep sticks in the house - of course stupid threads like that "first month ttc, BFP @ 6dpo" thread didn't help!

[deep breath]

sinkingflameofhilarity · 11/03/2012 12:10

cavey step away from the sticks! I'm about 6dpo- want to make a pact? No poas till at least next weekend. I've changed my opinion and now think seeing the droid is preferable to another single line.
