There's cake for scoffing, backs for patting, and screeching death metal for all your METALLING moments. All welcome!

Our last thread reached 1000 posts so i hope you have all found your way here! I have steaming hot Brew chocolate croissants (or as my colleague said 'chocolate pasties'), blueberry muffins, grapefruit segments and hot buttered toast for brekkie!

Settle into the mosh pit, we have special VIP area's for those on the 2WW, the new bumps metalling with segregated areas for the first/second/third trimesters and the club class cocktail bar for those who have just got AF and can get-pissed let loose for the first two weeks!

finally got through to someone and saw the GP tonight who has put me through for a scan in the next couple of days, after much tutting and sharp-intake-of-breath-ing and 'well it's not looking good is it' comments. Just like he did last time when I was bleeding at 14w. He was all 'weeeeeell you've lost two this way now' I pointed out I had my DD and he said 'well yes you have proven yourself with her' What am I - a broodmare? Yeah thanks for that Hmm I didn't think the symptoms were THAT ominous but I was told to keep an eye out for changes in the norm (and see them if I had specific symptoms like increased fluid loss) but until he was so pessimistic I had figured I was probably over-reacting and/or metalling. So now I'm shitting bricks.

So tell me, does increased discharge along with raised temperature and a one-sided tenderness mean another MC? Or does it mean a pregnant person with a cold?

MissCoffeeNWine · 15/02/2012 21:48

Jaffa I'm sorry about the misplaced text. It's so unfortunate and such a kick in the teeth :( I hope you can find a way forward with your friend that doesn't involve her rubbing your face in it so much.

Welcome pippi I am sorry for your losses but this is a supportive and calorific thread. Fingers crossed for your meds to work.

Fingers crossed for the TWW Tiago

Glad to hear you're getting good care pebs I understand the metalling (obviously I'm manning metal central right now) this too shall pass. I've only ever used ICs and a line is a line is a line, I don't think it ever went as dark as control, ever.

Frozen I'm really cross at the palaver I've just had to go through to get anyone to even talk to me, it's taken most of a day and a long after-surgery wait, I know I don't have abdo pain or bleeding but I have other symptoms more alarming to me personally which is why some knowledge of my history is essential to understanding them.....how many times do I have to go over it with new people? Fingers crossed for a healthy heartbeat for you tomorrow (and me if I get a scan too!) There's no way I could afford to get a private one this month, although most months would actually be okay Blush

manda swit swoo with your Valentine's 'do. Go blonde, I'm often tempted (never been blonde before, always dark brown)

Boris I adore the Miss Havisham look idea, I reckon you could totally pull it off Wink

hope everyone else is bearing up and not too bored off my ranting Blush

BlueCrane · 15/02/2012 22:03

Sneaks in with a large plate of hot chocolate fudge brownies with ice cream and hot choc sauce to pour over...

Misscoffee so so sorry about the time it took you to get to speak to anyone...wish I could say something that would reduce your metalling but I really don't know enough to make a comment...hoping you get a scan tomorrow and that all is well in there!

Manda how did you get on at the hairdressers? Hope you are feeling suitably pampered!

Boris...grrrr to comment about paying for the event this weekend...so insensitive! Hope the outfit finding goes well and that the event turns out better than you fear it will be.

Sleepy wave to everyone else!

I am working from home tomorrow so will try and get up in time to lay out the breakfast goodies but just in case I'm running late thought I'd set up the timer on the coffee maker and filled up the fridge with some lovely fresh orange juice, plus I've arranged for a special bakery delivery of croissants, pain au chocolate and breakfast muffins to keep you all topped up!

FrozenNorthPole · 15/02/2012 22:11

MissC - You've had to really go through the mill to talk to someone - I've got my fingers crossed that you get some reassurance tomorrow. FWIW I think GPs are often a) clueless about repeat loss and its causes and b) keen to be cautious when they're clueless. DH is a GP, and he agrees with me on this point (and also thinks, statistically, that you are still more likely to be a pregnant person with a cold than to be miscarrying) x

NoMoreMarbles · 15/02/2012 22:23

evening ladiesSmile

jaffa what a horrid text to receiveSad its so crap having friends who are forgettful/inconsiderate. i have one or two of those myself...

missC blardy hell! it really does seem to be a struggle and a fight for the care round your way! glad your GP is being proactive and concerned much like you would expect the EPU to be if you can ever get through! madness...i am crossing my fingers for the scan to be very soon (tomorrow) and for it to be a good'un. re: the discharge etc, i have always had a big increase in the discharge dept during preg so that could be normal but only you know what is normal preg symptoms for you...i know that is less than helpful but...

frozen GL for your scan tomorrowSmile

manda did you go for blonde? i went back to blonde last year after 5 years dark...i like it much more than the dark brown and its easier to maintain for me too so you never know...it could be the best hair-related decision you ever makeWink

hope everyone is doing well tonight...

looks like the B100 and D3 vits are doing...something... EWCM...more today than yesterday etc but spotting again...odder than odd but hey ho SWI-ing with abandon so we will see...

MissCoffeeNWine · 15/02/2012 22:30

Thanks Frozen, Frozen'sDH and Blue

I rang the MW because the combination of changes in symptoms was making me uneasy, so to encounter such pessimism was hard, especially seen as I've seen that doctor for similar before and he was (in the end) right. Although last time he made all his um faces for my bleeding, which then stopped and the reason for my loss was my waters breaking nearly a month later, so he wasn't actually as right as he thinks. Hmm

As we were saying earlier I could have just rung EPU and lied and skipped through all the palaver for the same outcome Hmm

So now I have to wait in for them to ring me sometime tomorrow and then free up the schedule to go for a scan whenever they can fit me in. Which is fine, I don't mind fitting in and understand I'm not urgent, and it's half term so I'm not working away so I can work round it - but I'll be in the scan room on my own as DD's off school and they don't let DCs come in.

MissCoffeeNWine · 15/02/2012 22:34

TMI post - I had loads last time round marbles in fact that's why I wasn't sure it was my waters when they went as I'd had a lot. This time not so much - it's the sudden change in amount/frequency that's worrying me not the amount/frequency itself. If that makes sense, in combination with this low grade fever which doesn't seem to be going away (though I know it's probable it's just a bug DD picked up from school). I'm taking paracetamol and feel well enough, just extra tired.

Sorry. I'm going to metal like a loon until there's a scan now I think Blush

NoMoreMarbles · 15/02/2012 22:47

maybe you have had a big HCG increase and thats where the sudden change has come from? how far along are you now?

MissCoffeeNWine · 15/02/2012 23:06

10 weeks, marbles, with increase over the last 4-5 days. I should stay away from google on that one shouldn't I !

NoMoreMarbles · 15/02/2012 23:28

not that im the expert at preg post 6-8 weeks but doesnt the progesterone(?) really ramp up around the 8-10 week mark? in prep for the placenta taking control? i am most likely wrong hardly an expert as i said but i remember reading that somewhere...i have only ever reached that point twice with 1 MC at 14 weeks and the other gave us DD and both pregnancies were similar in the first trimester (MS, UTIs and lots of discharge...)

WhyAlwaysBoris · 16/02/2012 08:06

Well i'm up so i'll lay out all the lovely pastries that Blue had delivered.

MissC I do hope the doctor is being overly pessimistic. I am cross on your behalf by the "you have proven yourself with her" comment- i honestly think some of them must have been off the day they did bedside manners at medical school

Fingers crossed for your scan today....

Hello to everyone else

NoMoreMarbles · 16/02/2012 08:53

morning borisSmile

i have brought some breakfast goodies

how are you today? any luck deciding on an outfit? i like the PJs idea myselfWink

Moominsarescary · 16/02/2012 09:28

MissC I do remember having increased discharge on and off all the way through with ds3 . I think once you've had a mc you notice and worry about every single change, I had more pains too which turned out to be ligament pain.

boris agree bedside manner is sometimes lacking, as is legible handwriting!

I find it realy hard that there is so much they just don't know, tmi but I had heavy gushing bleeds on and off from 12-24 weeks with ds2, they never found out why. It was the same with the waters breaking early with ds2 and 3, no idea why it happened.

And don't get me startedon their indifferent attitude, when I was admitted to hospital because I could feel the waters had started to come through the cervix Iwoth ds4 i was seen by a registrar who told me I was 2-3 cm then put me in a room to wait for a consultant. It was 4 hours before she arrived.

It seems unless you are 24 weeks and the baby is viable some of them just arnt interested.

I'm so glad I had the consultant I did as he understands that to his patients, whatever stage they are it is their baby.. He even gave me a hug when the stitch he put in failed.

Moominsarescary · 16/02/2012 09:30

Oh and yes the pj idea sounds good, although they would probably think you were becoming a bit unstable!

May stop any unwanted questions though

MarthasHarbour · 16/02/2012 09:52

oooh Boris pleeeease do the Miss Havisham look, we will all get you ready in the morning. Manda can do your hair in the crazy beehive backcombed grey stylee, i will do your make up - lots of white foundation and black eyeliner, MissC can start making your wedding dress now (she needs something to take her mind off metalling) it can be done by the weekend. You dont need shoes, well i think you only need one shoe for 'the look' And blue can make the breakfast to keep you going

MissC i am beyond Angry about your GP. FFS what an insensitive tosser, all those comments - just all of them are fecking rude! Yay for frozen's DH, can he be our resident GP?? Hmm

But seriously MissC i am at least glad you have a scan booked, FX you really are that pregnant woman with a cold - of course you are

bonzo thank you for telling me about sharing your stretchy CM with DH! that made me giggle at my desk!! Grin

Manda: Hair.Photos.Now.

pebspop · 16/02/2012 10:14

missc hope you have got your scan and it gives you some reassurance.

i am still getting my brown spotting. it's really annoying me as it's making me worry about mc'ing. if i mc from this spotting it will be totally different to the other mc's. it's bad enough mc'ing from a problem you know about without other problems turning up.

i have never had spotting in pg before. the first time i mc'd there was a lot of bright red blood in one go and nothing after that and the second was absolutley nothing - not even a speck.

everything could be fine but it doesn't reassure me at the moment when i see the spotting.

also i am due to go out tomorrow after work. if i don't drink everyone will know whats going on but i don't want them to know as i don't even know if this is going to work out. should i try to get out of it?

Tiago · 16/02/2012 10:26

MissC I hope everything is OK.

Mmmm pastries.

Well, over here I have a bad taste in the back of my mouth (not that I'm looking for symptoms at all or that it is way way too early). I am also a bit :( as it appears yet another colleague is PG (not announced - but its either that or she has drastically increased in size over a very short period). I am happy for her, but still, the little green monster is definitely present.

MarthasHarbour · 16/02/2012 11:28

pebs i am sure that all is well but why dont you book in with your GP, get them to book you in with the MW etc and mention the spotting, you never know you may even get a really early scan (do they scan this early?)

in the meantime try not to metal and FX for it being implantation

OP posts:
MarthasHarbour · 16/02/2012 11:30

tiago one of my colleagues is preggy after a on/off relationship with her BF, totally not planned and one of those 'ah well i got PG so hey ho'

every time i see her i go Envy

OP posts:
farfallarocks · 16/02/2012 11:39

pebs i can understand how worrying this must be, can you go and have your HCG levels checked over 48 hrs? It could be nothing of course but my chemical was a bit like this (mixture of BFPs and BFNs and spotting through out) have you tested again?

WhyAlwaysBoris · 16/02/2012 12:02

Hi Pebs I hope you are OK.

Can't do much to help about the spotting/metalling i'm afraid, but i'm wondering if maybe a solution for tomorrow night's non-drinking dilema (if you decide you want to go at all) would be to blame the aspirin??

I found a bit on doctor google that says - Side effects of aspirin "in very rare cases aspirin can cause bleeding in the stomach. Avoid drinking alcohol while you are taking this medication because alcohol may increase your risk of stomach bleeding"

So technically you wouldn't be fibbing if you didn't drink and told people it was because you were on a course of tablets and you shouldn't drink with them...of course it depends on how nosy you think the colleagues might be about what the tablets are for....

pebspop · 16/02/2012 12:06

i tested yesterday and it was bfp. i have only tested twice on ic's but they were both bfps. it thought they were a bit faint but i have found out from here that that is normal for ic's. i have ordered a couple of cb digis from amazon so i will try one of them when they arrive.

where do you go for the hcg blood tests? is it just the doctors or epu?

i have got a scan booked in for 2nd march. not sure if they will be able to test earlier and not really sure what they could do at this stage anyway.

i will just wait and see what happens i think. the spotting is very dark brown and seems very dry. it's not leaking out i only see it when i wipe.

NoMoreMarbles · 16/02/2012 12:14

pebs are you 100% sure the spotting is vaginal and not from the UTI? Try popping a tampon in for half an hour and then weeing/ wiping and see whether it's still there...would clarify things a touch for youSmile

MarthasHarbour · 16/02/2012 12:16

Right then so i-know fuck all in my humble opinion i think that if the spotting is brown, tiny and only a little bit when wiping, then you should be ok. No cramps? If you get real cramping then that would be a concern, but in the meantime try to relax. Confused

Moominsarescary · 16/02/2012 12:25

pebs I went to the gp who arranged my hcg at a clinic close to my home
