A positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Someone was asking about NK cell counts: Heres the link to peoples history if your interested newbies, but it needs updating badly.

freelancegirl · 24/02/2012 17:23

Stogan! Woo hoo! I don't blame you for feeling all emotional, I think we all would. Oh my goodness, people are actually getting dates to have babies on here!! Yes make sure Mr Stogan knows how to update us. And that he needs to introduce himself as Mr Stogan

Ari, I had no idea they had changed the names in the Faraway Tree! Of course I knew that Fanny and Dick had other connotations (not at the time I was reading the books of course) but had no idea of an alternative meaning for Bessie: ?usually impoverished, overweight prostitutes from Harlem?? How fantastic! I am quite liking the name myself now Grin I can imagine that growing up somewhere with a forest a the end of the road, PQ, I would have thought it was down there too. I loved that tree! I spent my whole childhood up trees because of it (until discovering boys and roller discos. Oh and then drink).

I too get that nausea thing when take Preg vits without food. It?s still quite early for you for symptoms PQ, and as you know symptoms are less on the Pred. You know all of this though, you know more than me am sure!

Also PQ? damn! I remember to floss about once a week, probably less. Am really crap with it. I might try using those sticks rather than the string ? might find it easier.

Euro, thanks for clarifying the ovulation/cycles thing. Glad you are getting good eggie signs! And thanks for doing the list, that TTC bit gets a bit neglected since we?ve had a few people go quiet for a while.

Hello Picolina, Hydroxy is definitely not vitamin D, it is another immune modulator. I am pretty sure that I am the first person on the thread to be taking it but there have been rumours of other Mr S guinea pigs patients being on it too, one who I think was pregnant before me but we are still not exactly sure. A couple of other people have been put on it too here now ? Ari I think is one of them and Choccy too. Others I think as well, will have to check list if we?ve added that. I have been on it as well as the Pred, intralipids, cyclogest etc.

Don?t worry about anti-malarials. For a start I don?t think Hydroxy is used directly as an anti-malarial. It IS used for other autoimmune conditions such as arthritis, but Mr S is pioneering it for RMC/high NK cells.

Although sorry to hear about your brother! There is a brand of anti-malarials called Lariam that causes the side effects that he has suffered from but there are plenty of other types now that are fine. I have necked quite a few on my travels.

Charlie, I didn?t know that about aspirin and food. Have you actually been recognised as having any clotting issues? I haven?t ? just that it is one of Mr S? protocols as I back up I imagine ? make sure all boxes are ticked just in case. I will carry on taking it until I see him. I still have a couple of weeks until 20 weeks too.

I have some home news ? we have finally, hopefully sold DH?s flat in Brighton (still got to go through yet but it is a cash buyer so might be reasonably quick) so are now able to look to buy a 3 bed place in SE London. Gosh they are so expensive though! Even the two bed flat are over 400k!

Thanks for the levels list Snoopy ? it was Stag who wanted to know as she hasn?t seen it before.

Stogan · 24/02/2012 17:41

Awwww snoopy car park change !!! Hadn't even thought of that, thank u, will start saving up the pound coins although DH will prob just dump the car outside the front doors, he did that with my last Medical management and left it there all day Grin

snoopygirl · 24/02/2012 17:55

Stogan I only say that as DH tried to stop at cashpoint on way!! Told him politely where to go and why hadn't he sorted it weeks ago when I told him too! We too dumped car in ambulance bay out front because there were no car parking spaces. fun and games Grin

eurochick · 24/02/2012 18:07

Free my area and yours are cheaper than the bits in the middle!

Stogan it's so exciting!

Arianrhod · 24/02/2012 18:20

Re the hydroxy - yes, I've been on it since mid December and had absolutely no side effects at all. As free says it is used in a number of other auto-immune conditions so it does make sense to be using it with elevated NK cells.

free I too spent most of my childhood up trees (reading books at the same time!), no doubt the Faraway Tree played a part in my fascination :). And woohoo! indeed on selling DH's flat .. nice timing, with any luck you'll have a nice shiny new place in time for Baby Free to arrive! Would suggest you try to avoid doing what I did though, moved house when I was 8.5 months pg with DD (not my choice, I hasten to add).

And stogan if your hospital cat park charges are anywhere near as expensive as mine, you should be telling your DH to br collecting notes, not coins!! See if the car park issues a couple of days' pass or something, it may work out cheaper for DH with coming to visit you if you're in for a couple of days?

Arianrhod · 24/02/2012 18:21

Cat park charges?? Wretched iPhone! car park charges!!

digitalgirl · 24/02/2012 20:20

Wow busy on here today Smile

stogan great to have an induction date. I would do everything you can to mentally prepare yourself for having a baby, because if you don't feel 'ready' you may find the induction takes a while.

Deep down I'm expecting to either have this baby on time or earlier. I haven't contemplated going over. I do not want to go over. I just want this baby delivered as safely as possible.

My mum asked me if I was absolutely sure of my dates with ds, with him being 3 weeks early. I told her I'd had 4 early scans (4 weeks, 5 weeks, 7 weeks and 12 weeks) which all corresponded with my dates.

free congrats on selling the flat! So it's London then.

I've never heard of the Faraway Tree. Mind you there's a lot of childhood classics I've never heard of because both my parents are immigrants and didn't read much to me as a child. Although my mum did teach me to read at the age of three (something I've failed to do with ds Blush although we do read him bedtime stories every night).

Welcome brownstag!

pebbles good news on the follies, start swi-ing now I reckon!

scooter lovely to hear from you. Welcome back. How do you feel about the wait now you're being put on hydroxy.

ari I usually get telltale cramps very early in the morning 10/11dpo when pg. But I did have one pg without the cramping - I did have an single instance of an implantation bleed at 8dpo instead.

Loads of ttc'ers coming up to the 2ww. Am expecting a flurry of bfps in 2 weeks time please!

Knackered [smirk]. Went to the park this afternoon with ds to make the most of the spring weather. Ds didn't want to leave, so we were there for 2.5 hours. I ache.

snoopygirl · 24/02/2012 21:29

My Mum read to us alot, I love reading and DS gets read to every night. But I've never heard of The far away Tree either.
boys asleep, 7.30 -8.00 not bad. managed to sneak in a quick swi soon after. Sounds terrible but needs must. Bad timing for sleepover and all that. Funny my DS got a bit jealous tonight and never experienced that before him being an only child. they took popcorn to bed and had midnight snack at 7pm none the wiser Smile.
Digi and stogan I can remember the feeling of just when is it going to happen. I was so uncomfortable I couldn't find anything to sit on. Tried gym ball and everything. Even much loved bath was no good after 10 mins as it made me out of breath lying down. Gutted. You will soon be over this bit and into a blur of milky babies! Treasure every minute, it's such a special time x

Dunnitt · 25/02/2012 09:27

stogan so exciting to have a date. Such lovely news. Makes me feel quite emotional reading about it. I still cant imagine having a bump let alone an actual baby. But news like that gives me hope. Thank you

Stogan · 25/02/2012 10:14

No problem dunnit I'm so pleased girls like my self and Digi can provide hope for everyone else. It's a long hard journey honey but u will get there and my gosh it will all be worth it. Huge hugs xxx

freelancegirl · 25/02/2012 14:09

Ahh I loved all enid blyton - faraway tree, famous 5, secret 7, the adventure ones, the boarding school ones...

Hope everyone is ok today, it's s bit hard for me to post properly as am on iPhone. No Internet access here in Brighton at the mo. Shame as it's the perfect time for a natter as am chilling put at home alone for a few hours.

I thought the thyroid folk amongst us would be interested to know the midwife phoned yesterday to tell me my thyroid levels were out of the normal range and I would need more thyroxine and should go to Epsom for an appt. I said don't worry I would sort it out with my gp, tbh I've managed my own thyroid for years. When I asked her the levels however it turned out she'd got it wrong and of anthing I would need LESS thyroxine! Good job one of us knew what we were talking about! TSH is 0.33 and t4 21. When thru have been like this before mr s has been happy keeping me at the same dosage as better slightly over than under.

My next dilemma is waiting for date for anomaly scan. Dh has very limited time free at the mo so will probably have to see if I can resched it anyway, which might be difficult. Part of me is wondering whether I should just arrange to go to the FMC like last time. The 12 week scan was so brilliantly thorough! And it's more convenient for us to go into central London than Epsom. And I would get a DVD. But I worry this would piss the hospital off. What do you reckon? Am now a bit paranoid about potential anomalies too.

Sorry this post is all ME focused. It's an iPhone hazard as can't easily scroll back. Oh and why would the predictive text always write ms when I want to say me, and also anyways rather than anyway?! What, am I in Bugsy Mallone??

suemays · 25/02/2012 16:47

Stogan so excited for you! Make sure you come back to us with all the gory details!

I also used to love the Magic Faraway Tree - it was one of my favourites as a child. We have got it for my DD so I will have to check its not the PC one - I hate the way everything is changed these days. Snoopy I am a believer in reading to children every day too, good job as DD loves books!

I have not had any side effects on the hydroxy yet either but have only been taking it for a week. Now on the last week of the 2ww and feeling quite relaxed at the moment. I have convinced myself that I wont get preg until I have done at least 4 rounds of superov!

Had an interesting conversation with my acupuncturist today - he reckons the majority of his patients who see him for infertility/miscarriages are teachers especially primary school. The next group are nannies. There must be some correlation as I know a lot of the ladies on here are teachers too. I wonder if its the extra stress of seeing children and pregnant women all the time?

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 25/02/2012 18:29

free just a quickie as I have to bath a grouchy DD. I really wouldn't worry too much about what the hospital thinks and to be honest I doubt they much care where you get your scan done - you not having it done by them just frees up one appointment for someone else! And they're not going to quibble at you going somewhere that is clearly a centre of excellence, I wouldn't have thought? And finally - it's your body, your baby and your peace of mind - go where you feel happiest with.

I amassed a big stock of Enid Blyton for DD since before even she was born .. I have always been a huge fan. Including all Famous Fives, Secret Sevens, Malory Towers, St Clare's, the Naughtiest Girl in the School set, and quite a few more besides. Ok so she won't be reading some of them for a while yet .. but we've started with the FT and I'm so looking forward to all the rest :)

willitbe · 25/02/2012 18:30

Arggg, I just typed in a long message and pressed post before I realised that my computer had logged me out of mn.... so I lost the whole message,,,,,

I wouldn?t mind but for some reason when I type directly into mn, it goes reeeallllyy sloowwwly.... like one character a second, (or slower), my brain can?t go that slowly. I end up typing in and waiting for 5 minutes before coming back and checking I typed it ok and typing the next bit. So the last message took me nearly an hour to complete. I am being sensible this time, and typing into word and then will copy and paste.

Thank you for all the advice on when to take the pred, asprin and other vits. I am going to take all the advice on board. I forgot to ask if Mr S has advice on what vitamins the dh?s should be taking?, also are you all on the pregnacare conception or the original pregnacare?

Stogan ? great news on getting an induction date, now you have time to plan all the things to do to keep yourself from thinking about the waiting. And try to enjoy the last few days of pregnancy (I never did- whoops!)

Scooter ? thank you for asking all the questions at the appointment, sorry you came away un-reassured, but hopefully the new med combination will be the one to work for you.

Stag ? Hi and great that you can join us here.

Loads of you all in the swi time with good and ok ovulations going on, hopefully you will all get to work and produce some nice bfp?s in the next couple of weeks.

Free ? good news on selling the flat, hope you find somewhere new soon. Also, try not to worry about the anomaly scan, hopefully it will be a great reassuring one wherever you have it done.

I never read the faraway tree book, but it sounds very like the magic-tree series that I am currently reading with my children, perhaps the faraway tree book is where the idea came from!

digitalgirl · 25/02/2012 18:46

willitbe I was on pregnacare plus which has extra omega 3 supplements with it.

free If you can afford it I see no reason why you can't go to the fmc for your 20 week scan and just add their results to your medical notes. If anything of concern was flagged up then you could speak to your mw and she'd make you an appointment with the consultant.

DS has a temperature and been very clingy today Sad. I've done nothing except choose some new paint, while DH has continued painting the woodwork.

PQ77 · 25/02/2012 18:55

willitbe your computer sounds v annoying! What a pain. dh takes the pregnacare conception for men (and selenium and vitamins b and c just before swi) - on recommendation of men's health dr at zita west clinic. I think I told mr s and he sort of nodded or something. I alternate between orgianal and conception pregnacare and solgar brand (cos that's the flavour I had with DS and I am trying to replicate condidtions)

free exactly what ari said (wise woman Grin) - amongst other things you're freeing up a space, as long as you give them enough warning.

As it was I cancelled my 20 week scan for ds with st t's as I couldn't do the date they offered and went to fmc instead (they were so detailed, almost an hour I think, dh got bored Angry). you'll get a copy of the scan report addressed to Epsom hospital to put in your notes and I am sure no one will bat an eyelid when they see it

Hope everyone's enjoyed the sun today (is it sunny everywhere?). We went to the museum of childhood where DS really enjoyed...running up and down the stairs. digi hope you put your feet up!

sue interesting what your acupuncturist was saying - wonder if it is because teachers and nannies are more likely to want children and more than one at that and then seek help? I often wonder about these clusters - where I work we had three women with ectopic pregnancies in a two year period on one floor of the building - statistically that really shouldn't happen!

Glad to be here in the safe house today - too many new pregnancies on facebook today. just want to hear about bfps here!

picolina123 · 26/02/2012 06:47

free thanks for info, i would love to try a drug and seemed to have less side effects and if offered will discuss my fears with them,
willinbe have the same prob with my comp, takes ages sometimes and others its normal, v annoying .

ive started reading Dr Beers book, WOW! its facinating , im only on page 76 but im always interrupting hubby ( while hes watching sport) with did you know ...( dont think he cares THAT much ) our bodies are amazing and things do make more sense why we take what we do.

what its made me really realise is how lucky i am , - that im under mr s and i didnt have to wait years asking for answers like some women and that these women have set the way for us , also its made me less worried that a lot of docs dont agree with him

freelancegirl · 26/02/2012 10:03

Hello all, crap post from me as on the mobile again. Just wanted to say to willitbe I second everyone else - I took (and am still taking) pregnacare plus omega three, along with the vit d and also selenium (my own addition after research from dr google). Dh took vitabiotics too, the male conception ones. He said it had a noticeable effect on the consistency of his sperm! So it must have been doing something. He was a bit crap and carried on drinking but I limited myself to around 6 units a week :)

Thanks Digi, Ari & PQ for help with my scan dilemma. I think I might actually go ahead and book FMC just to make sure it's a date we can both do.

Am staying in Brighton tonight but tomorrow looking at a few flats/houses in London. Yes euro, our bits of the area are definitely a bit cheaper than the others but we are looking to move back to one of the more expensive bits, just to be nearer the park, coffee shops etc. I like where we are and we have a nice place but having been used to centre of town living in brighton I need a bit more of that again. Loved living closer to the previous before. Am also moving to be closer to PQ :) we are probably looking at a tiny gaff but am ok with that for a couple of years I think. Until (a big IF too) we try for number 2 :)

eurochick · 26/02/2012 10:05

Morning all!

I'm sitting here waiting for Mr euro's burfday cake to cook. It's a chocolate orange cake. I've never made it before but it was his request.

freelancegirl · 26/02/2012 10:14

Chocolate orange cake?! You superstar! When I find my new place you cab bring along to the housewarming :)

digitalgirl · 26/02/2012 10:24

Mmm chocolate orange cake. I made a lemon poppy seed loaf last night. Sort of healthy, right?

Sat upstairs where the mobile reception is best currently waiting for dh to call me as he's taken ds to out of hours doc. Poor thing has had a temperature for two nights and now has a rash all over his torso Sad. I selfishly didn't want to go and sit in a waiting room surrounded by sick people also there in an emergency. Worried about picking up a hospital superbug.

freelancegirl · 26/02/2012 10:39

Ahh poor DS Digi. Hope they manage to sort him out and he soon feels better.

So impressed with all your baking skills. I am definitely going to be having a tea and cake Pred Thread house warming. I will make the tea.

ChoccyPud · 26/02/2012 10:55

Morning all. Gorgeous sunny day here!

digi hope DS will be ok, understand you not wanting to expose yourself to loads of germs though. :(

free happy house hunting, great to be able to start looking.

scooter welcome to Team Hydroxy! I've felt no different on it, unlike Pred. Bit of a drop in appetite, which is no bad thing. Are you still going to take Pred as well, or has he moved you onto just Hydroxy? I'm going to do both, but sue may be taken off Pred after the 6 week lead in period.

I was feeling traitorous inquisitive yesterday, so had a little look on the BC board, and saw free selling our thread to a girl who'd just been put on Hydroxy. Good work Grin. Hope she comes and finds us here.

Dh was talking to a friend's wife the other night (I was home in bed with monstrous period headache) who'd overheard him talking about where we are with things at the mo, and had approached him to say her second was a Mr S baby!! He got all emotional knowing that it worked for them. We had no idea, of course, because NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT!! But how lovely of her to come over to tell him.

Lastly, stogan that is fantastic news, enjoy(!) the last couple of weeks, and we look forward to hearing all news from you or dh. Our first Pred thread baby, I'm so excited!!

freelancegirl · 26/02/2012 11:10

Morning Choccy. It is indeed a gorgeous day! Trying to get my arse in gear for a walk along the beach before meeting friends for a pub lunch.

Lovely to hear about your friend and her Mr S baby! It does just go to show that people don't talk about it. I never heard back from the man or his partner that DH met at the football who was under the treatment and feeling a bit disillusioned. I was hoping we could all help her out. Like with the woman on BC too. We should all be on commission :)

I must have missed Scooter saying you were going to start Hydroxy. There must be quite a lot of us now! I need to add it to the list so we can see where we are all at. Like choccy I have found it fine, a bit of a loss of appetite and that was it. I've been on it for four months now.
