Stogan - with DD1, my first pred baby, they broke my waters at 11.30 am, put me on the drip at 1pm and DD arrived just after 6 pm. No tearing - a small graze, no instruments and no c section (all the things I thought were guaranteed by an induction) and the delivery was really low key (she came out after 3 pushes). Since this loads of friends and friends-of-friends have told me their trouble free induction stories, so I have to conclude that a good number of inductions really do go smoothly. Does this give any extra hope? Smile

freelancegirl · 02/03/2012 09:00

Frozen what a wonderful birth. It sounds perfect. I know this is a personal question (and as as first-timer it's one I would like to put to all of the board!) were you ok, er, downstairs afterwards then? I am so bloody paranoid reading all about tears and later complications with incontinence etc. Were you on time/late/early...?

Was anyone watching that Our Man In....programme last night - about British consulates abroad? This one was in the Balearics, really good. There was a couple who were there on holiday for a friend's wedding and the wife had given birth after a surprise, 8 week early, labour! I thought that must be incredible - you spend all this time working things out around your due date and then the baby arrives 2 months early and is fine! They gave him a Spanish middle name :)

The Argus is always quite quaint Choccy. I often wonder whether their house style is 'unthreatening, local and slightly badly written'. One of my great joys upon arrival to Brighton on weekends is checking out the headlines on the Argus A boards outside newsagents and, if especially entertaining, sharing them on facebook. "Prostitutes Lose Appeal' was one favourite along with 'Cash Point Robbers Strike'.

igggi · 02/03/2012 09:34

Usual mentallying has resumed - convinced fewer fetal movements in last two days - can I go to triage again without them laughing at my complete paranoia? Also have noone to look after ds if I went.

So fed up with all this fear. Sad

freelancegirl · 02/03/2012 09:35

Mmmm. Not sure iggi. I think if you are certain they seem to be diminishing then you should go, just to put your mind at rest. But also aren't they meant to diminish at about this stage anyway, as it is getting quite big? Some of the others might be able to advise. What does Dr Google say? If you want to go though, go. There's no embarrassment in doing everything you can to make sure it is ok.

snoopygirl · 02/03/2012 09:40

iggi just go. We are not run of the mill pregnant women so we are entitled to be mega paranoid!

snoopygirl · 02/03/2012 09:41

Hey the thread is running out. Would someone be able to do a new one? I am likely to mess it up!!

BellyD · 02/03/2012 09:53

Loved the success story free. I was having a weird pred dream the other night and mentally wrote the first paragraph of a book about all our ordeals/journeys!

Think that I may have jumped the gun on the bfp and have been going out my mind for the last two days as have done 2 more tests and no line even with my best squinting. Have still been spotting too - at exactly the same time each day. Anyone else get that? AF not due til Tues but perhaps a chemical for me. Gutted :(

iggi definitely think you should go and get yourself checked out just to put your mind at rest.

igggi · 02/03/2012 09:53

Thanks - googling reveals lots of women who say "everything will be fine" to absolutely everything, and others who have had a bad outcome.
Tricky bit is having to ask dh to leave work.

Stogan · 02/03/2012 09:57

Oh frozen thank u so much for telling me your fantastic birth story it does give me hope ! To be fair I don't really care what they do to me as long as my baby is ok but if it could go even half as smoothly as it sounds like yours did I will be very happy, thank u xxSmile

Arianrhod · 02/03/2012 10:05

Morning ladies - igggi If you're not sure about whether to go to triage, could you at least ring your midwife and check with her? Perhaps she could check you over maybe more easily than having to go to A&E? It's too important I think to ignore, definitely worth getting checked if you're in any way unsure.

Havingkittens · 02/03/2012 10:09

igggi, this might help countthekicks.org.uk/mumtobe/movements/ - there is a movement monitor chart you can download on there too so you can keep track. But if you are still concerned then call your midwife for advice.

Is it today then? Stogan's induction? Or next Friday?

If it's today it would be really nice to hold off starting the new thread so that we can introduce the first thread baby, along with all the other progress and stats in the intro bit as a "beacon of hope" for those joining the thread. And also, if it's today...Good Luck! Grin

batteryhen · 02/03/2012 10:14

iggi agree with ari if you are worried call your MW, but don't worry about being paranoid - go to triage if you feel you need to, thats what they are there for xx
frozen I love your birth story :) I have to say I have been watching one born every minute in complete horror. I really should not let myself watch these things.....
snoopy I think someone who is TTC should start a new thread...it used to be a common belief on my old thread that whoever started a new thread got a BFP before that thread was up. Besides I am sure I will mess it up too!

Everything is ok here. After my long old 24 hr shift (was v knackered after) I have now got a month off! I am very excited!!

I hope everyone else is ok, and planning lovely weekends. stogan...this time next week....!

freelancegirl · 02/03/2012 10:30

Ok - someone who is TTC needs to start a new thread now! Just say something about what we are all doing here and provide links to the old threads. It will be 'TTC/Pregnancy on Prednisolone or similar Part 6'!!! Or maybe we should also put something about High NK cells in the title. Umm. TTC/Pregnancy with High Natural Killer Cells Part 6...?

Arianrhod · 02/03/2012 10:30

Ok, new conversation started

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1419032-TTC-Pregnancy-on-Prednisolone-or-similar-part-6

Stogan · 02/03/2012 10:37

kittens thanks for good luck but unfortunately it's next Friday Sad will be more than worth the wait though !!

igggi I would def call the MW I had all of this mentalling as my baby seemed to disappear between 29 and 33 weeks, little movement and the little growth, the MW told me to go to the drop in and she would listen to HB for me. U may think u are over reacting but u have put so much into this baby and it means everything to u so dont let anyone make u feel like u are overreacting u do what's best for you and your baby xx

igggi · 02/03/2012 11:02

Thanks Stogan, I have called triage and am now waiting for a midwife to call me back. If wasn't for issues about what to do with ds I'd have gone in already.
I read on the count the kicks website that 50% of women who have stillbirths had reduced movement for few days prior, so not something I can overlook really.

Havingkittens · 02/03/2012 11:46

Try not to panic igggi, but still worth checking out. Don't forget the other 50% who have no problems at all. But don't let them fob you off. Do you still have your doppler? Maybe that will help you put your mind at rest?

Stogan · 02/03/2012 13:39

Hope everything's ok igggi xx

suemays · 02/03/2012 20:35

Iggi sometimes I think it could be your natural instinct as a friend of mine couldnt feel her baby move as much so went into triage. It was lucky she did as she had an infection in the womb but didn't realise and it was starving the oxygen supply. They induced her at 25 weeks and the baby was fine. I dont mean to panic you but you have gone through so much to get where you are and I think now is not the time to wonder if you are being a pain to the midwives. I am sure they will understand anyway and that you will be fine and its a false alarm anyway. You never know it could be as the baby is moving down and hasnt got as much room to move! Try eating a bit of chocolate as the small amount of caffeine should make it move.

BellyD sorry to hear your lack of strong line now. I had that during my chemical in January - the only real way to tell if your AF has not arrived is to have the HCG blood test. I had one done and it was confirmed I had a pregnancy but it would not develop.

Free the Argus story is inspirational - funny that the woman they read about (Angie Baker) was one of Dr S's patients. To think the NHS still doesn't recognise killer cells!

I was induced with DD after being in labour for 24 hours (wasnt dliating fast enough) and I was told the contractions are more painful when being induced as the body is forced into it. It then took about 4 hours for DD to arrive and I had no tears or stitches etc. I would really recommend doing the perineal massage as I am convinced that stopped me tearing. It makes you realise what the sensation is like so you dont tense up when pushing!
www.thinkbaby.co.uk/your-pregnant-body/perineal-massage---how-and-why/196.html

Well I did another test this morning as couldnt wait until tomorrow and it looks like I have got a definite BFP! The line is much darker than wed so I am booked in for intrallipids on Tues. I will do another test on Sun/Mon to double check the line is darker as I dont want to waste money having the intrallipids. Really worried I will have another chemical even though the line this time is a lot darker than Jan. Can anyone tell me how quickly the preds masks preg symptoms too as they seem to have gone now. Mentalling already!

Waves to everyone else!

Hallo everyone again; I've been off the treatment for a bit but have just restarted.
Mr S has got me on hydroxychloroquine but taken me off the steroids (horrendous insomnia); he doesn't know how this will work out on its own however. I took letrozole this cycle and was pleased with the lining (7mm) and improved cervical mucous. However, I still only produced one follicle, 15.5mm at day 10, so will increase to 7.5 next month, assuming I'm not pregnant. A friend of mine has just conceived on the same treatment with Mr S, her first superovulation cycle, so I'm feeling hopeful. She has very high natural killer cell levels, so is on the the whole shebang of immunosuppressive treatment.
Also, for anyone with luteal phase length problems, I have been taking coenzyme q10 recently, and since then my luteal phase has been 14 days instead of 11. I read it's meant to help delay the menopause as well as improve fertility in men. Also, I seem to remember above someone mentioning DHEA. I also wanted to use that but Mr S said no, it can cause bladder cancer.
SueMays, with my son, the prednisolone immediately removed the symptoms of pregnancy, and like you, I was really worried. But everything was fine. Sickness came back for a week or two once off them, then disappeared.

cornflakes30 · 15/08/2012 19:20

Hi all I thought I would pop in and say hi if thats ok? and see how everyone is doing, it seems there are a few successes and a few sad stories as well.
It's nice to hear 2 baby's hoe fab is that gives us all hope and seems lots of ladies that were on here earlier in the year are in first and second trimester.
I have been lurking around not sure wether to come back after my last mc in February it really hit me hard then I had another one in july so I'm back to ttc again this month which will be no 7.
So back on steroids etc ....

MegMum25 · 18/08/2012 03:10

Hi ladies. I'm new to this thread though not the whole Pregnancy / killer cell thing. My story in brief. 2006 4 x unexplained early m/c. All Nhs tests normal but knew something not right with my body's crazy behaviour when pregnant so went thru Zita West to Yau Thum at lister. Elevated nk cells and prednisolone prescribed . Dd1 born Xmas Day 2008. I breathed out for first time in three years and it was a dream come true. M/c no 5 @ 6 weeks on prednisolone in jan 2010, and my Nk cell activity way higher so for pregnancy no6 also had 3 x infusions of intralipid. Dd2 born oct 2010. Cannot thank the lister enough. Decided To push my luck and got pregnant in July 2012. Prednisolone (cyclogest & baby aspirin too) and all was going great. 2 x scans with heartbeats at 6 and 7!weeks

  • went for 9 week scan (alone as waa so bloody cocky, idiot) and no heartbeat. Erpc last Thursday. Heartbroken. I do not feel it is my killer cells -y body was completely accepting pregnancy so I have to hope that it's my 'unfussy womb' and chromosomal. Ill find out in a month. I am just so low as all the comfort I have clung to In my successful PGs has been ripped away now. Symptoms/ scans with heartbeats/ no bleeding/ even a bump this time - None of these will give me any comfort again. But I do Already know I'll try again as the joy of a live baby is worth every bit of the pain Ive been through. So for those of you Not there yet, keep going, I've had a miracle twice and could not be more grateful for My dd and the love, joy and relief theyve brought me but I've also had a shitty unexpected experience this week which has shattered my confidence and am so so sad. But I know I can deal with an M/c ( the early morning waking in tears like just now will Pass I know) but would welcome any thoughts / Experiences similar to Mine- good luck to You all. Keep going xxxxx
MegMum25 · 18/08/2012 03:12

Ps the Roids and the insomnia - oh god. This is the only
Time I've taken them for it not to work ad as I gotta nine weeks and now huge, unable to sleep and having to bloody wean off them. A necessary evil though. x
