Filled up our old one, I'll put our updated list on a separate post so that it's not a huge chunk of text at the top of every page.

Old thread here. Newbies always welcome, much as we'd like to hope nobody ever gets to this stage of TTC!

OP posts:
whereismywine · 06/03/2012 08:35

I had a bleed like a period after my lap and a week more of spotting. That was just after ov. Then I got my period when I was expecting it and it was just as normal, which I was surprised by. I have 4 week cycles. Sorry, prob not v helpful to you?!

GinSoaked · 06/03/2012 08:49

Oh ladyg so so sorry about the bfn. I really hope the blood test shows something different today. As you say, you did everything that you could, so absolutely no blaming yourself. Sometimes these things just don't work. Big hugs.

whatmess Wow that's quite an op! Sounds like they got everything. Hope you make a swift recovery.

wine boo to the evil af. If the pains don't go, don't go to work I say [evil emoticon] Hope you feel better soon.

Stasi · 06/03/2012 09:17

Morning all. I'm still home, and still banned from the computer, so posting this from my phone. I'm nearing the end of my 2ww with ff giving a test day of Friday. I'm a bit hopeful, as it's after the hsg, but hand also never had such a boring, symptom free 2ww, so not hopeful.

izzy congratulations! That line just got harder and harder to dismiss. I think I'll probably end up like you and not believe the first few hundred BFP sticks. Hope you are well :-)

maybe is this self imposed Jack of time to be sick? You may just be making things worse. You need time to recover and get back to your normal hard working self. Pushing through the illness could be slower over all as your standard of work is likely to be worse than normal and take longer to do. Sorry, lecture over. I really hope you feel better soon.

whatmess have yourself plenty of rest after such a big OP. Hope the pain goes away soon.

Happy Tuesday to everyone else. Will try and get on a computer (left handed) tonight and do a proper catch up.

kittysaysmiaow · 06/03/2012 09:19

lady I am so so sorry to hear that. What a cruel process this can be. I do hope you get a different result on the blood test. Thinking of you.

wine sorry af turned up and you are in pain. I hate those grim early morning pains, where like you say you are waiting for the drugs to kick in. Hope you feel much better soon, take it easy.

whatmess blimey no wonder you are a bit sore after that. It sounds like it all went to plan though and they got everything done, which is good. Glad to hear you're resting up and hope everything settles down soon.

Waves to gin avid everyone else this morning.

Stasi · 06/03/2012 09:21

Ack, I knew I'd forget that most important thing! lady don't give up yet, if you can hold on. The blood test may well give you a better result. Didn't someone on here say a recent pg announcement was from someone who had a period after ivf? Also, doesn't hpg double every day you are pg? So a test yesterday only had half as much to detect as one today would. Fingers crossed for you, but also as many supportive hugs as you need.

Stasi · 06/03/2012 09:26

Sigh, all that stuff to maybe should be on another thread. I hate posting from my phone.

eurochick · 06/03/2012 10:47

I've just got the Barons Court reference...

ladygee I'm sorry for your BFN. The first of my friends had the same thing on her first IVF cycles and then got two BFPs with the remaining frosties from that cycle so it all worked out for her.

whatmess fertility friend has a website and iphone app. It's what I use and I like it. Apparently it's best to use a basal thermometer as the temp changes are quite subtle. I got mine on Amazon for about 3 or 4 quid. I'm glad the op went well. I had a lap years ago (not really sure why - probably to look for endo as a possible reason for my painful periods). I do remember feeling like I had been kicked in the stomach afterwards.

Sorry for AF's arrival wine. Mine is due any time now.

Stasi that was me. My other close friend who has had IVF had a period and didn't bother with the urine test but turned out to be pregnant. She's now around 20 weeks.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 06/03/2012 12:04

I would love a meet up but flights from glasgow are pretty expensive :(

mrsden · 06/03/2012 12:39

Grin at barron's court.

How are you doing today ladygee, did you have the blood test?

whatmess sounds like you might be feeling a bit rough when the painkillers wear off. Good news that they've done the drilling and zapped the endo.

Have you got RSI stasi? I sometimes suffer and it makes typing really hard.

I noticed that mumsnet have been asked to comment on the work of obs and gynaes. I can't really comment as no experience of nhs ones, but some of you might have something to say. The thread is on the most active page.

I don't really know where I am in the cycle as not temped this month. I'm on CD30 and my longest cycle was 35 days. I feel very pmty, I got cross with my mum for no good reason on the phone last night. Then felt guilty for being so mean so had to ring back and apologise. Then I snapped at Dh over something and nothing and then spent the rest of the evening bursting into tears every 5 minutes. I'm not normally this bad. I wish AF would just turn up as I'll feel better once cd1 is here.

ladygee · 06/03/2012 13:06

Hi ladies,

I'm on my phone so just a quick post to say thank you for all your kind words and thoughts.

Unfortunately the blood test confirmed the negative result. There was no HCG at all so the little bean must never have even implanted.

DH and I have booked this week off, thank God for small blessings. So we've booked a couple of nights in the Lakes on a cheap deal to give ourselves a bit of time and space.

Sorry for not catching up with you all. I'll read through everything and promise to catch up when my head's a bit clearer.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 06/03/2012 13:24

Oh lady I am so sorry to hear that.

Hope the time away clears your head

x

minipie · 06/03/2012 13:28

Oh I'm so, so sorry ladygee. Hope the time away helps.

joycep · 06/03/2012 13:33

lady - I dont know what to say. I just feel so deflated and gutted for you. How very distressing and I am so sorry. I am glad you can go away with DH to come to terms with it. I know it's of no comfort but I have read that it can take several goes. It will happen for you but I am sorry it wasn't this time. Thinking of you.

Oh mrsd - sorry about pmt signs. Tears and anger are just awful combinations.

Whatness - did you know you had endo? Because you have been zapped does this mean you have a good chance of getting pregnant inthe next few months? Sorry you are sore and hopefully the pain wil subside.

Wine - sorry about your AF too. Blurrr what a crappy time for people.

Gin - you have inspired me to start doing the rounds with ivf open days or whatever they are called. I was going to plump for Argc in London but I think I will shop around a bit more. Perhaps go to create or Care - cant remember what is called. I had my first proper conversation with DH about it last night and I said I don't think we should hang around until Xmas. It's clearly not goig to happen naturally at this point. I will have to go to them alone as DH works stupid days and hours. Facing up to it is so scary and I dread tellig my parents who will be really anti it.

poutintrout · 06/03/2012 13:35

Oh ladygee I'm so sorry that this cycle hasn't worked out for you and am sending you lots of love. I don't want to witter on and make out that I can understand what you must be feeling because I can only imagine that it must be absolutely shite of the highest order. I'm glad that you and your DH are together this week and really hope that your break in the Lakes helps you both feel better.

mess I'm glad that your op is over. It sounds like a lot to take in. I hope that you aren't in too much pain and feel better soon.

Euro I'm so sorry about your BFN too and that you have mixed feeling about IVF. It must feel like a massive step and I am sad for you that you didn't get your ironic BFP this month.

kitty Hope that you are feeling brighter today and that the PMT has eased off. I promise I won't mention anything donkey related!

stasi maybe no symptoms is a symptom in itself?? FX

Fatima what is OHSS? It is such good news about your embryos. My goodness it really is a whole new world with all its forms and stuff. What type of things did the form ask you? Makes me think of the episode of Friends where Monica and Chandler want to adopt and meet the babies mother and end up lying that they are a doctor and a minister.

wine Lumpy womb forum? I bet that's where all the magic happens Grin
Sorry that you are suffering with period pain. God really was having a laugh when he created Woman wasn't he!

Mrsd Thank you for your kind words, that's probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me Smile You really will be disappointed in RL!!
I agree with you about the not testing and the fact that an AF seems better than a blank test.
I am interested in the thread you are talking about. I might saunter over and have a nosey and instantly get my comments deleted I suspect!

joycep Oh we could so corner this badge market, I see a new craze of piles badges. Badge for the day in the Pout household is "So my dog wees - deal with it nosey old bat" - apparently, according to some old dear, my dog is "charming" for having a wee wee!!!!
Was there really a honey troll [thick smiley] ?
You made me laugh suggesting me being a writer. While that would be a lovely thing I can't spell and my grammar is shot!! Instead I am evidently unemployable at present and am a kept woman/Stay at Home Barren. Still it gives my MIL plenty to criticise me for Grin
Your Barons Court reference made me chuckle! What with your badges and covens, you should be the writer.

gin Chinese baby - dare I ask?!

whatmess · 06/03/2012 15:15

Thanks everyone. Yes, Joycep, the consultant said our best chance is in the next 3 months, but if nothing happens then she'll put me on Clomid. I am trying to be very positive but doubt does creep in every now and then. One of the reasons why I've decided to chart is so I can give the Dr as much information as possible but also to see if I have actually started ovulating again. I haven't ovulated for ages despite having an LH surge every now and then.

I didn't know I had the endo, although it was suspected. The pictures were something else. Looked like a mass of red scar like streaks covering just about everything. I'm amazed she managed to zap it all and that it is only considered mild to moderate. I would hate to see one that was advanced.

eurochick · 06/03/2012 15:51

whatmess what endo symptoms did you have (if any)? I really don't want another lap, but I do wonder if it could be the source of my problems.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 06/03/2012 16:40

Hi lovely ladies,

The thread is on fire and typing still so slow I just kept reading and not reacting the past few days... But I could not ignore lady's sad news. I am so sorry the first round failed. I hope you and your DH have a chance to regroup and get your spirits up a little in the Lakes. So desperately sorry, I would give you a (one-armed) hug, if I could.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, massive congrats to izzy. So happy for you and so jealous. And a bit Shock about the position you managed it in. As I am still broken, that one won't be on the cards in the lemon-household.

Also loving the stories and chat of meeting in RL. I am not sure I am ready to leave the relatively safe anonymity of the web yet... But keep me posted and I might be brave nearer the time.

Waves and sympathies and hot water bottles all round. I read all of your IVF thread euro some really good comments, I thought.

We did try some the-last-ovulation-before-IUI SWI over the weekend and it was not a great idea, the collar bone has some healing to do apparently... So onwards to some assistance Confused

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 06/03/2012 16:41

Oh and I second euro's endo question, whatmess. I am curious whether that is what is going on here (since pout's endo thread, actually - although my periods are not particularly painful, but since the breakage of bones I have discovered I have quite a high pain threshold).

joycep · 06/03/2012 17:31

euro - I thought the reason with your lack of conceiving had been found, I.e high Nk cells. Do you think more is going on?

whatness - wow no pressure then mGet shagging now Grin if that's the case!

Pout - unemployable? Youre entrepreniual (sp?) , genius thoughts on cornering the badge market above and all inspired by busy body neighbour. And that is a MIL 's duty to criticise. My mil is the same and if you had 3 kids she would still probably criticise. Beastly women.

Lemon- wishing you a speedy recovery.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 06/03/2012 17:45

lemon my legs were on DH's shoulders not my own!! Grin

Sorry to hear everyone is going through a down phase. I will continue to lurk if thats ok, wont be happy til i have my scan i dont think.

eurochick · 06/03/2012 17:45

joy that is the only test that has come back "out of whack" so far, but it has now been treated for the past 3 cycles to no avail. I know we have got the timing right for those cycles so either there is something else going on or the immune treatment I am having isn't aggressive enough (I know some drs use more draconian treatments than the steroid treatment i am having).

The problem with being (largely) "unexplained" is that everytime I read about a cause for infertility, I start wondering if that could be my problem!

ladygee I'm really sorry to hear about your BFN.

whatmess · 06/03/2012 18:00

Euro, my symptoms could be linked to the PCOS as well. I have very irregular period with anywhere from 40 to 80 day cycles. The most obvious one for endometriosis would be the flooding and clots. When my periods came, I would have little to no warning and they would be extremely heavy to the point that I could have tampax and a pad on and still flood through within an hour. I put this down to the long cycles but it is more likely to be the endometriosis as the cells outside the uterus also fill up with blood.

whatmess · 06/03/2012 18:08

joycep I would Grin but DH is off on a work trip for a week. Gets back next Thursday. I am still bleeding so it's probably ok, but I have told him to make sure his little swimmers are ready for action when he comes back.

whatmess · 06/03/2012 18:09

loveslemon I wouldn't have said mine where particularly painful either. But then I also have a high pain threshold.

mrsden · 06/03/2012 18:16

lurk away izzy, have you got any symptoms yet?

euro we have a reason and yet I still think I have everything as soon as someone mentions something they've got.

pout ignore mil. I'm largely a kept woman because I only work part time and earn so much less than DH. But when I took this job, the plan was I'd be pregnant soon so wouldn't matter and I would be a SAHM. If only I'd known.

The thread on ivf costs is making my eyes water, so much money.
