Morning!

I feel hard core now Pops surviving on such a small amount of sleep Wink Just shows how communicating by text alone can be really confusing - the same words can be interpreted in so many different ways! I am a lazy mare tho!

I too am really jealous of the snow Beedle, I want some over here now!

Whims hope the tv watching tidying was fun!

Get well soon Maybe I'm sure a day of mumsnetting working from home will help. Could you treat yourself to a caffeinated Brew for extra fortification?

Are you lurking Munx, how are things?

ScrambledSmegs · 23/01/2012 09:18

Morning. Snow sounds wonderful, Beedle. You're not in the UK, are you?

Well AF arrived last night Sad. I had a 6 day LP this cycle. Shortest ever.

I'm doubly Sad as DH has got a virus on my our PC and not managed to get rid of it yet. If he can't fix it I'm likely to lose all DD's baby photos, plus our wedding and honeymoon photos. I feel at the moment like DD's the only baby I'm ever going to have, so I'm distraught, to say the least...

Sorry for moany post. I'll be back later looking more Smile I hope.

ScrambledSmegs · 23/01/2012 09:19

Hope you feel better soon Maybe.

PopcornMouse · 23/01/2012 09:40

:o olives
Do you struggle to get back into the rhythm of days? DH tends to be ok the first 2 days, then really struggles sleeping at night for a few days and ends up looking like a zombie.

Ohh beedle I envy you the snow!

Maybe are you drinking lots of lemon and honey in hot water? I find that helps a lot. And lots of olbas oil. And not working

whimsicalname · 23/01/2012 09:46

Morning all. Should be preparing for a meeting...

Bad luck smegs, and doubly so about the computer. My IT expertise is 'turn it off and on again' so no help to offer I'm afraid. You'll always have wonderful memories in your head, and many friends will have pics too. And you WILL have another one (I have a wet fish ready if you need a fish slap, but I think you might be a bit low for an surprise one. Just say the words though)

Maybe back to bed with you. Sending hot lemon and ginger thoughts your way.

Are you enjoying snow beedle? Can you remind us where you are?

See you later

NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/01/2012 09:47

Oh Smegs I'm sorry, that's so rubbish Sad I hope you can sort the computer out too.

Olives I only have decaff. Though I have just eaten a cupcake I made over the weekend. I feel sick like when you're really hungry, and that was the only thing in the house

Pop I have developed a sever hatred of hot honey and lemon! My Nan used to give it to me all the time when I was little, and now I really can't face it Grin

The working from home isn't really going to plan, the work I need won't download on to my lap top for some reason [not really bothered in the slightest]

My DH has no problem with shifts. He can sleep anywhere at any time! I on the other hand would be hopeless, I am terrible at sleeping during the day.

Munx hoping you're ok

PopcornMouse · 23/01/2012 09:49

xpost!

smegs that's awful. Can you take it to PC world or something and see if they can recover them?

GenericDietCola · 23/01/2012 09:50

Hello all, I'm back at work and super busy! Feeling much better - thanks largely to the support of the smacketeers!

Smegs that is rubbish re AF and the virus and I hope both can be fixed soon. I would deffo follow up with Dr Wonderful re the short LP (but are they looking into this anyway?). I really hope you save your photos - can you make back up copies on a pen drive or something

Maybe hope you feel better soon.

Hi to everyone else and sorry for short post.

cakes82 · 23/01/2012 10:29

Morning All.
Hope your feeling better maybe and PC virus sorted Smegs
Hope work is ok Generic

I'm having difficulties figuring out when AF is isn't due. I've had cycles from 22 days to 40 but the most common lengths are between 24 and 27. Today is day 26. I don't want to get too hopeful plus if I think about it too much it tends to be even later. I think i'm about 10/11dpo but I did go through a phase where I had an 11day lp. Confused

cakes82 · 23/01/2012 10:37

Forgot to say don't think I've had any of my normal pre AF symptoms at least not yet anyway,,,

NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/01/2012 11:03

Morning Cakes I am keeping everything crossed for you Smile

Generic so pleased to hear you are feeling much better. Take it easy at work though, don't push yourself too hard.

Smegs any news on the PC front?

BeedleTheBard · 23/01/2012 11:18

get well soon maybe

smegs hope you get the PC fixed, and all teh photos are OK. And GRRRR to AF, can't believe she dared to show her face so early. I've bombarded her with snowballs and she's now cold and wet and has run away crying.

whims I'm in Sweden, will you get lots of snow in the US, I vaguely remember seeing photos of major snow storms in DC in the past, but I might be wrong.

Glad you're feeling better generic

fingers crossed for you cakes no symptoms is also a symptom Grin

Sorry for making you all so jealous about the snow Grin, it is lovely, and should be around for a while as there is no sign of temperatures above freezing for the next week. I finally got to wear my new winter boots today, they probably wouldn't make me any friends over on the style and beauty pages, but its not very stylish to slip over either (not that I needed to wear them cos teh paths are all cleared, I didn't have to make my way through any snowdrifts to get to work!)

Stasi · 23/01/2012 12:15

I've gone right back to my last epic post to catch up properly. I've missed a lot over the weekend!

bean I like your covert operations, did your DH notice the decaff? You've made me wonder which technique we should follow for shag week. Abstain for 5 days pre-ov, then SWI? Or SWI every other day for the whole cycle, (and keep it up between cycles)? Our motility and count were low, but not disastrous, so I don't really know. DH does tend to abstain himself most of the time we're not SWI. That's 2-3 weeks of infrequent SFF every month, could that cause SA issues?

Smegs so sorry AF has turned up, and that your PC is infected too! Can you not take it to a specialist to get it fixed? I know a bit about viruses, but not nearly enough to help from here. An expert may cost a bit of money, but if you really are in danger of losing your photos then it will be worth it?

People sometimes forget just how much of their life is stored on their computer. I recommend google or amazon storage for important things. Very cheap, and off site. I use google storage and Picasa, upload all my photos online privately, then I know they're safe, I can access them anywhere, and I have more room on my computer. I pay $5 a year for 20GB of fast, secure, and safe space with google.

Whim glad the kids are ok with moving to DC. Do you think they might get a bit worried nearer the time? I'm not sure how old they are, but I can imagine it might be a fun adventure right up until it becomes reality. What are your plans for DC? Will you be working out there? I love the scarflet! The yarn is lovely too. Could you donate your fabric to family or friends? or a charity shop as last resort? You can't just get rid of all that lovely fabric.

Sweetie I hope your day with the kids went well, it's a great age range - old enough to be fun but still cute. Heh, I love kids at all ages. My temperatures rarely jump around, however everyone's different. Generally you're looking for a sustained rise to show ovulation, so if they jump up and down all the time it shouldn't confuse FF - as long as once ov happens your temps are generally higher than before. You do have to take your temp as soon as you wake up though, post snooze is too late. I've perfected the art of taking them while still basically asleep though :)

Olives I hope you've managed to catch up on some sleep and feel less grumpy. I've never worked night shifts, but my mother and step father both do, and hate it! It makes me wonder about my intention on re-training to be a midwife, I think the positives of the job would out weigh the negatives though. Fingers crossed..

Popcorn I'm glad your DH has taken an interest, and love shag week being on the calendar.. I'm imagining just that, written in caps across the week :)

Beedle my temps are usually similar to yours, at least my pre-ov temp always has been 36.5 until this month. I never get up to 37 though, unless I temp fanjolly.

Maybe oh no, I hope you feel better soon. I've got a little bit of a cold, but have got over very lightly. I feel fine, just have annoying blocked nose and sneezing. Don't even think about working out later to burn off that cupcake! Being ill burns calories, it takes work to fight off the nasties (totally made that up, but it makes sense?) You shouldn't be working either, you're sick, rest and get better!

Generic glad you're feeling better!

cakes did you temp this cycle, or do OPKs? If your cycle is irregular you may find temping a better way to track things. I'm not sure how it works for ladies with long cycles, do you just ov late and have a similar LP each cycle? If you have 18 days of high temps after ov, then you're most likely pg. If it drops before then, you probably are not. Don't know if that would help? Keeping fingers crossed though, and brooking that this is your month!

The UK is apparently set for snow/rain over the next couple of days. At least so I've been told. Not much news from me really, I've got a bit of a cold, but nothing worth getting any sympathy over. I was intending on letting the in-laws know about our tic trouble this weekend, but couldn't find an appropriate moment. It's just not something you can drop into casual conversation while walking round a museum! I might chicken out and just send an email.. CD12 here, temps closer to normal again, so I think it was just the cold weather. I did my first wii fit last night in a while, I actually got sweaty and hot from doing it, and I started out freezing wearing a jumper with the fire on! Just have to keep it up now, and go back to swimming now AF is gone (and so are my other lame excuses).

ScrambledSmegs · 23/01/2012 12:31

Thanks everyone. Am still a bit down-heartened, but will pick myself up, dust myself down and start all over again. Again.

My appointment with Dr W is next wednesday. DH needs to sort out his SA sample, as she wants the results in order to be able to refer us properly. I just hope I can convince her that my LP is incredibly short and needs treatment. DH will be with me and has promised to help. The problem is Dr W, lovely as she is, doesn't 'believe' in charting, OPK's etc. I refuse to buy progesterone cream over the internet, I want any treatment prescribed and on my notes.

DH reckons he can get rid of the malware (not a virus, he says) quite easily, and nothing will be lost. Hopefully he can do it tonight. And afterwards I will stand over him while he installs anti-virus software and an internet firewall, which I didn't realise he had removed because he works in IT and thinks he is fucking invulnerable Angry

Sorry that was a bit ranty and me-me-me. Hope you're all well, and that you're feeling a little better Maybe.

Stasi I love your posts - they are brilliant at summarising what everyone's up to! I read the fred most days but don't always have time to post 'properly' - you are an example to us all! Sorry about your cold and hope you feel better soon. Are you hoping to tell your inlaws to get some support? Probably not a bad idea unless them knowing and expecting 'news' will put the pressure on too much. I love wii fit but we don't have one - I tried to persuade DH to get one for us for Christmas, but he didn't go for it!

Smegs you must insist that Dr W helps you - an LP on 6 days is not great. Glad your DH can sort the computer though and sorry you still feel poo

GenericDietCola · 23/01/2012 13:24

Froot - that sounds frustrating! I'll brook no argument that you will be preggo this cycle.

Where's Farfalla? Hope you are OK m'dear.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/01/2012 13:40

Stasi I agree with Generic I love your posts. Hope you are feeling less bunged up today. I don't think I will be exercising later. I have taken the pup out though, so that must count for something Smile

Froot what a nightmare, it's so frustrating having a long cycle. I got so excited when my thermometer came. Must be the scientist in me Grin

Smegs you are more than allowed to vent, it must be so frustrating for you. I am sure Dr W will come up with some answers.

Thanks for the get well wishes everyone. I am currently making some stock for soup, have got a slow roasted tomato sauce in the oven, and am reading a cake book and thinking about doing some baking. I am fairly sure I should be asleep, but Otis doesn't seem to agree with me Grin

cakes82 · 23/01/2012 14:07

Hi Stasi I must admit I don't do anything except keep an eye on CM its my way of trying to do the laid back approach to ttc. I think if af arrives I may have to do temping for a couple of months just so I can see whats what. There is a possibility of PCOS so I understand OPK isn't very helpful. Just have to wait and see what happens. Its my first OV since my HSG so I think i'm just generally being hopeful,,

PopcornMouse · 23/01/2012 14:21

cakes do you temp or do opks? Hope AF's absence is a good thing! :)

Stasi it's very subtle ? a week with little smilie faces in the corner! He is the type to write it in big letters, but when we were teens he had great fun writing ?shag Popcorn? in spare slots on his college timetable....... but then one day his tutor asked to see his timetable to schedule an extra lesson, and of course he'd forgotten ? he whipped it out and gave it to her, and watched her go beetroot red! The rest of that year was quite awkward iirc Wink

I hope your inlaws are the supportive type Stasi - good luck :)

I think that's very wise smegs because iirc you need to continue using it throughout pregnancy if you get upduffed while you're using it? Otherwise you can inadvertantly mc iirc. A bit odd not to ?believe? in charting etc! But hurrah for the PC being salvagable!

Generic I vaguely recall that far had a holiday coming up, could that have been this weekend?

froot could you be pg? Have you tested? POAS POAS! :o

DH is giving up drinking! After my meltdown yesterday, and because I told him about the HSG and invasive, medicalised investigations, he said he wouldn't feel right letting me go through that if he hadn't covered all the bases. Which just made my little heart melt :)

ScrambledSmegs · 23/01/2012 14:30

Aw, your DH is lovely, Popcorn. Sorry you had to have a meltdown for him to understand what you're going through, but the fact that he's come to that conclusion and sounds so much more supportive of you is wonderful.

Froot could you be pg already?

My DH has just sent me a beautiful bouquet. The note said 'To cheer you up' and I promptly burst into tears again Blush. He's so lovely, and unfailingly positive about ttc. I think I really need to get back into that frame of mind, I am a rat-smacler after all!

ScrambledSmegs · 23/01/2012 14:31

Smacler ?! FFS!!! Smacker

farfallarocks · 23/01/2012 16:08

Hello rat smacketeers I am here and catching up with you all.

We had a nice weekend away, talked A LOT and had a lot of SFF. Part of me is still so resentful that he could not man up 3 days before and have us in with a chance this month but I am trying to put it aside and move on.

Not sure how we move forwards from here, he has got himself in a state but we have agreed that I will stop using the shag dictator for a couple of months so I don;t know when the peak days are exactly and we will just try and have a bit more sex during the week generally. I am not sure it will work though as if he is not in the mood there is not much I can do to change his mind. He feels terrible about it and like he is not 'a real man' as he should be up for it all the time.

I do wonder about testerone and thinking about getting him to test for it but not sure that is the right move for now. I think we need to park it all for a bit to be honest.

All of your support has meant the world to me and I promise to stop being so slefish now!

pop your DH sounds aboslutely lovely but I am so so sorry you have been feeling so low recently. Its a very tough business this hugs.

smeg really sorry about AF it sounds like a very strange cycle indeed, I hope Dr W can help you? I don;t know what to suggest really.

Stasi sorry to hear about your DH's sperm although it does sound borderline so hopefuly some vitamins will make all the difference. I have read that where motility id the problem it is better to abstain before SWI?

Right, off to catch up with the rest of the thread now :)

Far it's so good to have you back. I'm glad you have managed to talk things through with DH. Hopefully having fun will take the pressure off of you both, which, as we all know, will undoubtedly lead to a BFP Smile

Smegs your DH sounds like an absolute darling Grin

Pop that's great news. It's so nice when they take a serious interest isn't it. I think my DH is only just understanding that it isn't just a case of a quick shag and hey presto, I am with child Grin

Cakes HSG=BFP. Fact Wink
