hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Whoops sorry for the double post everyone thought it hadnt worked so did it again! Funny Kittens exactly what my mum said. Grin

suemays · 21/04/2012 10:34

No it wasn't my mum who started the menopause early. My nan had my mum at 45 so maybe that's what you were thinking of?

Havingkittens · 21/04/2012 12:46

Hmmm, don't know. Maybe I imagined it Hmm

Abney · 21/04/2012 15:22

Hi all. Hope everyone is OK. I thought I would just advise that had 2nd SO scan this morning and have 1 follicle 24mm. Last time I had 2 dominant ones. All have been on my right ovary. Dr S says the first time my left overy had none and then this time it only had a small one so he says he does not think that it is functioning properly. He said usually in the natual course of events the ovaries swap each month i.e you get one come from the right one and then one come from the left the next month and so on. Dr S thinks last time it was my right ovary's turn and this month it was my left and that is why I only have 1 dominant follicle. He said if I don't get preg this time he will up the dosage to 7.5. Of course I came away happy that I had 1. I am thinking that as it is 24mm it is a nice strong one. As I was coming home I realised that the Ovitrelle (that I so happily went to collect from Boots) had been discarded on the kitchen table and not put in the fridge. So I had to go back again and buy another one from NLC £20. Anyway let's see what happens. Not really had a problem getting pg before (although now 44 yrs old) so it should theoretically work! The hardest part of course is pinning DH down and then keeping hold of the pregnancy. Grin

Hi there, mind if i pop over from the IVF thread and join in? Had my first appointment with Mr S today and am going to start the super ov programme next cycle for a few months while i wait for my next round of IVF. I'll start following this thread too if i can keep up to see where you're all at. x

duggs1976 · 21/04/2012 16:30

Hi care I recognise the name from the ivf thread. Are you waiting for your nk cells results? You ate very welcome here. I did ivf with mr s treatment and am currently 5 weeks pregnant. Not without dramas though as had heavy bleeding this week but v early scan showed one of 2 embryos failing so at least I have a reason. Anyway we are a friendly bunch and super ov gives a window into what is happening on there and you usually get 2 follicles so doubles the chances of pregnancy really each go. Smile

eurochick · 21/04/2012 17:24

Abney I think the notes in my Ovitrille said it could be kept out of the fridge for several days and then used (but not refrigerated again). That was a while ago that I read those though so please check!

snoopygirl · 21/04/2012 21:01

abney I had Ovitrelle in car for over three hrs on way to Clinic and was fine (after being refrigerated in dispensary of course).

snoopygirl · 21/04/2012 21:34

Hi carebear (cute name) Smile

Feel free to join - in the more info/experience shared the better. x

Arianrhod · 22/04/2012 19:53

Hi ladies, and big Hello to care.

Well looks like I may be starting my SO journey a bit earlier than I thought as I've got pre-AF brown spotting and cramps today at 10dpo, which is 3 days too early for my usual pre-AF start, I usually start AF proper at 14dpo. So that's a WTF for me this cycle, which saw me ovulate 2 days late at 16dpo. I don't know what the heck is going on, but I'm not amused. I thought if you were peri-menopausal your AFs got later, not earlier? What do I know! Wonder what Mr S will make of this!

Anyway, so I guess if AF turns up maybe tomorrow or Tues that I'll be starting the delightful drug regime Wed or Thu. Looking forward to the extra spots and night sweats already :)

eurochick · 22/04/2012 20:14

Are you 100% sure about your ov date? Cos if not, you would be 2 days further on than you though and about on track if you thought you were only 3 days early?

Arianrhod · 22/04/2012 20:33

Yup, CBFM and CB Digi OPK, plus ovulation pains, never lie. I think!! Good thought though euro, and an interesting one.

Havingkittens · 22/04/2012 22:20

I haven't had any night sweats, although I'm also on HRT so maybe that's counteracting that particular side effect. I am quite spotty anyway and don't think I've been more so than usual. I just saw a photo of myself back when I was either pregnant or between pregnancies and my skin was really dreadful.

Follicle tracking scan tomorrow at CD14. Prescribed "love making" this weekend just in case of early ovulation.

Hello and welcome carebear.

Arianrhod · 23/04/2012 09:04

GL for the follicle tracking scan kittens, hope there are a couple of good sized ones in there! :)

snoopygirl · 23/04/2012 09:50

Morning all,

good Luck kittens hope some perfect eggs waiting in there for you!

ari I think i felt slightly hotter in beds although not sweaty and yes got spost but not bad ones just more like reddish pimples.....sorry that's not making you feel any better is it. Saying that i have almost missed the letrozole and scans as it makes the month go quicker and missed seeing inside to see what's going on. Feel a bit adrift without it all. I don't feel I have any definite day of when I ov'd as just relying on faint lines on cheap sticks. I spose as long as I have been swing every other day then shoud have it covered.

suemays · 23/04/2012 17:04

snoopy you could still pay locally to have a follicle scan so at least you would know when to swi and take the pred.

Havingkittens · 23/04/2012 18:12

Bollocks! That didn't go well. There was no response to the Letrozole this month. Just one tiny follicle which probably won't amount to much but Mr S has told me to use OPK sticks to see if I do ovulate. Unlikely though.

He has asked me to do another FSH test (Day1-3) and then put me on Tamoxifen and Gonal F for next cycle. The blood test will give us more of an idea whether this is just an anovulatory cycle or problems with my ovarian reserve. I did ask if it made any difference that I'd had the test before Christmas and he told me that things can chance month by month at my age Sad.

Has anyone taken Tamoxifen and Gonal F? How much does it cost? Any ideas of cheapest place to get Tamoxifen?

Arianrhod · 23/04/2012 18:32

Oh cr@p kittens, I'm so sorry to hear it didn't go well with your scan. I have to say, this is exactly what I'm expecting myself. Tamoxifen I don't know - is that in place of the letrozole? Gonal-f is expensive I'm afraid, when Mr S suggested I might be needing that I did some price checking around and the best price I could find it was at Asda, don't remember the exact price but I think it was around the £90 mark. Check out the IVF forums maybe, since it's an IVF drug.

This age thing is bollocks, isn't it? :(

Havingkittens · 23/04/2012 18:52

Mr S/Louise said that Central Homecare were the cheapest, but I don't know how much they charge. I might call them tomorrow and ask. Yes, the Tamoxifen is instead of Letrozole.

Arianrhod · 23/04/2012 20:58

Just did a very quick search and it definitely looks like Central Homecare are the cheapest, as you say. I'll be interested to know what you are quoted kittens, if you don't mind? What dosage has Mr S put you on?

Havingkittens · 23/04/2012 21:09

I have to get a 300mg pen and take 75mg on days 3,6,9 and 12 as far as I remember.

Arianrhod · 23/04/2012 21:56

Found this discussion from Jan which mentions the 300 iu pen from Central Homecare as being £54 (as opposed to £94 from Asda), if it helps: www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=278606.0

Pebbles73 · 23/04/2012 22:08

Abney I did the same thing with my ovitrelle, annoying having to buy two. Great size follicle, good luck. Grin

Welcome to Carebear, are you having ivf on the nhs which is why you are waiting to start again? I did one month of super ov but still had some frozen embryos to use on the nhs so am currently back on the ivf again. Do you mind if I ask how many rounds if ivf you have had?

I didn't get sweaty at night Ari but would just wake up feeling burning hot and have to kick the covers off.

Snoopy seeing as you have done plenty of swi you have nothing to worry about. It's funny how used to having treatment we get!

What a bugger Kittens hopefully the gonal f will help. I have had it for ivf but I didn't have to pay for it so don't know what cost is involved. It's a pre-filled pen style syringe which is quite easy to use and has a really fine needle.

Waves to everyone else.
