duggs1976 · 17/01/2012 22:21

hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Duggs started down regging yesterday and have to say felt quite tearful about being back in the same boat again. Getting my syringe and drugs together made me feel depressed rather than my usual excitement. I guess this time is different as I have had the miscarriage and now know about the nk killer cells. God I hope the steroids and clexane work! Anyway have a blood test on the 18th to check I have down regulated and should get my af before then. How are you feeling, nervous/terrified/ apprehensive and maybe a bit excited?? :)

Good luck for your test results Ari hope you are not worrying too much.

duggs1976 · 05/04/2012 07:37

Hey pebbles is probably as you know what lays ahead. I must say I was ok until after the egg collection. Then I was a mess really. Remind me have you had one round or two? What were your results? I got 13 fertilised eggs but only 3 of those were any good so over 75% of my eggs r no good. I've read that amount is higher than average bad eggs for my age. Is more like average 40 something person. I think my PCOS might be to blame? How is your lining? How many did u get put back last time? Big hug to you honey. X

This is Snoppy posting from Brittany.... yes I am that sad I have paid for internet access so don't miss any news!

duggs read your update the other day great news and it only takes one and you could get more than you bargained for! My sis as I've said before had ICSI (did you have ICSI?) and she only had similar amount left and one worked for her.

pebbles sorry your feeling rubbish sweetie hope things improve in a bit for you. x

abney As i've said before I have stopped pred 10dpo only to get a positive result and then a chem. The only thing he said to me on matter was if I stop at 10dpo then rather than taking a break at 6 months of being on pred I could carry on for another couple of months. It doesn't make sense to me either but I spose if you do stop and then get a positive at least you would have the pred in system still.

ari good luck with results I'll keep an eye on your results.

kittens have a relaxing break!

Well pissed off as yet again a bfn on 15dpo today. I have tested ffor few days can't see anything on sticks. No AF though. Recently I have AF on cd25 and it's cd26 today. I think got tiny bit of spotting this morning though and it's on it's way, barely anything thou. What's worrying me more is for last few days have had pain almost like Mastitis in left breast and it's painful to touch and feels almost spikey. It's still there so don't know what's going on with that.
I am questioning whether bloody SO is worth it now. No positive yet on programme in Mar/April, yet Jan/Feb I got positive each time, albeit ending in chems!!??

Well weather is just lovely and sunny so off to beach, it's not the Bahamas but it's gorgeous here and DS can indulge himself digging on beach, even if my toes freezing off!!

Love to you all x

duggs1976 · 05/04/2012 13:18

Yes had ICSI fingers crossed. Have a choccie croissant for me ;-)

Hi Duggs is hard to explain how many times because a lot of them have been frozen cycles but they still get counted as one go from the initial taking the egss and fertilising them. So the first go I had about 28 eggs of which 21 fertilised but had to be frozen becuase of over stimulation. From those I got to have two attempts of which the first ended in a chemical. The second go was a fresh round and was negative. The third go again I overstimulated and had around 18 eggs I think and had the first lot of frozen put back in September which was miscarriage at 7 wks. This will be my second attempt from those embryos and they are thawing five which are hopfully good enough and will leave me two day three embryos in the freezer for one last free attempt on nhs. Sorry is a bit long explaining it all but yo ucan probably see why I got a bit upset doing it again! I don't know why as it really isn't that bad apart fro mthe miscarriage side of it!! Each attempt I have had two put back but only ever had one take. How do you feel about the possibility of twins? :) My thoughts are always that I would rather have two than none! Anywya hope you are taking it easy and putting your feet up as Zita West says it helps the blood flow to the pelvic area. Sending yo ua big hug back as I know how yo uare feeling at the mo, is a very emotional time what with all the hormones you have been pumping into yourself.

Hi Snoopy great to hear from you and sorry to hear about your negative. So annoying when you have got positives previously as the super ov obviously work for you and would feel pissed off too. We are definitley in need of some positive news on this thread, somebody should be up the duff! Enjoy being away and at least you can have a drink now without worrying. Big hugs.

duggs1976 · 05/04/2012 13:26

snoopy keep going honey because u are responding so surely you will be at cycle 5 soon? The magic cycle.

pebbles ahh so if u have had any frozen it means the quality has been good enough. If you are able to freeze any then you have some good quality ones in there. The mc were probably down to either chromosonal abnormalities or nk cells. You have lots of goes banked up.

I don't mind twins as at £7k a round we cant afford more cycles so this is pretty much my only shot. Sad

With 77% of my eggs being bad I had no hope naturally I don't reckon. Well.. Very limited anyway.

OP posts:
Pebbles73 · 05/04/2012 14:00

In my case it doesn't mean they are ok it's just if you over stimulate they freeze everything. They akways culture on to day 3 so don't think have s problem with egg quality. Last miscarriage was tested and no chromosomal problems so must have been those blasted nk cells.
It's soo expensive, we have befn v lucky getting it on nhs!!

duggs1976 · 05/04/2012 14:04

If the nk cells all more reason to be positive bc u r treating those Smile so all more reason this should work xxxx

OP posts:
Pebbles73 · 05/04/2012 14:09

Duggs was it defo a case of your eggs being bad? Do they look for certain criteria for the cgh before they will test them? Just wondered if they just weren't good enough for cgh or did the embryos just stop developing? Hope you don't mind me asking!x

duggs1976 · 05/04/2012 14:40

well you can either have 2 routes dependent on clinic :

1- eggs tested so they test the polar body (the little bit that isn't used) so you know which are the normal eggs. (Naturally 50% are bad in under 35yr olds and 75% in over 40 yr olds on average) Usually weeded out by humans not being PG every single cycle. They then know which embryros are usable or not.

2 - embryos tested they also test polar body from ebmbyo after they fertilise with ICSI.

With me they waited until day 3 to see which embryos survived..no survivial then no point testing. Then when 4 are left..so the strongest front runners they tested these.

The one that came back as abnormal was looking good and as strong as the other 3 so it would have been random luck if this one was put back. It wouldn't have implanted actually as was very abnormal..but if just one chromosone 21 or 13 for example then you get downs of patu syndrome and potentially mc anyway.

I don't believe they CGH frozen embryos but is worth looking into if you ever have to go privately. Is more £ but worth it I'd say.

So my eggs are 77% bad - so more like a 40 something yr old. Obviously some 40 yr olds will have eggs of a 30 yr old. blaaa...blaaa...

I was told clinics only freeze embryos they deem to be suitable to make a pregnancy.. but I hear you re the OHSS because they had no choice to freeze everything.

hope this helps.
Is difficult to find stats on CGH testing in UK as is so new. CARE, BRIDGE and LWC def do it. Think ARGC do but hard to find on their website.

Arianrhod · 05/04/2012 14:50

Interested in all the IVF/CGH testing talk, keep on with the info ladies please :)

I've posted on the pred thread too, but I just got my blood tests back. They're not terrible, but they're certainly not great either:

LH 7.6 iu/L
FSH 15 iu/L
E2

Pebbles73 · 05/04/2012 15:12

Oh and thanks for the positive thoughts, I could do with some of those!x

snoopygirl · 05/04/2012 18:41

ari Your brave don't think I would want to know what my results would be but can see the point as you don't want to throw more money at it if your results were that bad. But they don't seem to be too bad and lets hope that the DHEA helps.

How is jaffa by the way?

duggs1976 · 05/04/2012 19:19

ari remind me again DHEA ? Is it an egg improving supplement that u r on?

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 05/04/2012 23:55

snoopy I didn't want to know what my levels were, Mr S told me to get them tested. Personally I would rather not know!

+duggs* DHEA is what a lot of IVF consultants tell older women to take before their IVF treatment as it apparently boosts follicles, both in numbers and quality, but also brings down FSH levels. It seems to be hailed as some kind of wonder drug. I'm fervently hoping so!!

Abney · 06/04/2012 08:31

Hi everyone, well I did the test (Clearblue digi) as DrS advised 10DPO and I was excited to see 1 to 2 weeks prg. I am so excited but what does this really mean. Could it be a false positive due to the SO druggs? I guess it is better than a BFN but I am unsure if I am or not. I guess I will only know for sure in the coming days. Have a great day everyone.

duggs1976 · 07/04/2012 06:38

abney hopefully it is a true positive. When was the trigger injection? Do another test today if it is stronger than yesterday u r onto a real thing Grin

OP posts:
Abney · 07/04/2012 08:08

Duggs I did the trigger shot Tuesday 27th March. Digi says not pg this morning so I guess yesterdays must have been drugs. I did think it was early to test as I normally don't get a BFP until 1 day before AF which would be next Thurs, Fri. You can't get any stonger using the digi as it either says yes or no. I guess it is not over until the fat lady sings. Smile. I won't test again now till Monday/Tues as there is no point. Hope you are OK. I am watching your story closely as I may have to go down the same route.

Abney · 07/04/2012 08:25

Hi everyone. I asked this question on the pred thread. Has anyone on SO ever had a BFP early, then a BFN and then a BFP again?

duggs1976 · 07/04/2012 08:33

Not many of us on SO have had a real bfp from the programme yet so here's hoping you get one. Is quite annoying dr s doesn't explain to each of us the ovritrelle risks of a false bfp when testing ! I had exactly the same at Xmas.

OP posts:
Abney · 07/04/2012 10:58

Thanks Duggs yes it is bizarre. I only knew about the false positives from these threads. I could have thrown a party yesterday due to the results. I was already thinking I shouldn't lift anything heavy Smile.

Pebbles73 · 07/04/2012 11:38

Ari have you tried googling ways to being your fsh levels down? Am sure there are other ways as well as have read about women having to try getting them lower before ivf in a Zita West book? It sounds like yours aren't to bad so I bet there are ways of bringing them down.

Abney so sorry to read about your positive then negative doesn't mess with your head much!. As Duggs said Mr S should really warn people about this, is why have never tested earlier than two days before due test date with ivf. Will be hoping to see you have had another positive, fc. [busmile]

Do you think you will hold out until your test date Duggs? Back in Sept I tested the night before test date as didn't want to find out just before I had to go to work. Nothing came up on test and I walked off and then my dh shouted he could see something! So que lots of standing on a chair holding it under a light followed by a late night dash to Tesco for some frer's!!

snoopygirl · 07/04/2012 16:23

Hi all,

Yes I agree there's quite a few tips he could pass on which would help, especially the Ovitrelle issue and testing. Save alot of heartache. Test again abney to make sure.
Well AF turned up for me CD28 which is arse about face as was down to a 25 day cycle for last few. It's a good thing I spose. Oh well on to the next month. Although have no Letrozole as couldn't get hold of Cheryl last week and she mailed me 2 days after left for hols so no good. Not too bothered as at the end of the day I got two bfp's (off SO) albeit chems jan and feb and nothing since on SO!

Have a good Easter weekend ladies. Off to head to ferry port tomorrow with a bit of sightseeing on the way to cheer me up Smile. Need to come home to escape the Chocolatiers and Patissieries!! I must must must! get some pounds off before pred starts up again. x

Abney · 08/04/2012 10:20

Hi All, BFN again today but still think I am testing too early. Wouldn't normally get a BFP until next Wed/Thurs 1 or 2 days before AF. I received a letter re follicle size yesterday so just to keep a record here they are.

Cycle 1 CD 10: 3 follicles 13mm, 17mm and 19mm. The 17mm and 19mm were described as the dominant ones.

Anyway let's keep my fingers crossed that the BFN will turn into a BFP and not the dreaded AF! Smile

duggs1976 · 08/04/2012 11:05

Good follicle sizes. Don't be too despondent if you dot get a bfp first time. Hardly any (if any) of us on here have even with great follicle sizes. Best to be pleasantly surprised rather than dissapointed. Fingers crossed Smile
