duggs1976 · 17/01/2012 22:21

hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Loving the holiday chat. Hope you are having an amazing time jaffa. On a more mundane/gross level has anyone had a couple of days spotting directly post ov on Clomid? Sorry if tmi.

suemays · 21/02/2012 17:18

Belly that could be implantation bleeding?

Snoopy I had to go back for another scan a week later and then see. They wont let your cycle go too long though. I Ovd on day 21 this time but that is the max I think.

I have been to Taba but only saw the bars as was with a friend. Just remember how much we drank and not much else!!!

suemays · 21/02/2012 17:18

Snoopy - if they are too big or too many he will advise you not to TTC.

snoopygirl · 21/02/2012 17:36

Oh I see I think if their small and there is the right amount they will grow a bit each day is that right? I presume that's what the extra scan is for if needed. Well thanks anyway I'm sure all will be explained when there.

eurochick · 21/02/2012 17:36

sue when I was there, there weren't any bars! Just 5 or 6 hotels and a dive school. We had a great time and have considered going back but I don't think it would be the same now it has got more developed.

eurochick · 21/02/2012 17:40

snoopy I think the concern is there being too many rather than too few.

So far my monitoring scans have not been a great success:

Cycle 1 of superov, day 12, several small follicles but too early to see how many would grow, no rescan possible due to timing, eventually oved on day 20

Cycle 2 of superov, scan booked for day 18, oved on day 13/14, saw corpus luteum on scan so definitely too late.

This is cycle 3 and I am booked in for day 12 again (tomorrow).

snoopygirl · 21/02/2012 17:50

good luck euro let us know how it goes. why was your cycle 2 scan booked for day 18? seems late...

suemays · 21/02/2012 20:57

Euro you are like me and have cycles all over the place - have you always been like that? Good luck for tomorrow, I hope you have some lovely round juicy ones (Dr S's words not mine)! Don't be disheartened if they are small as I had only 1 follicle sized around 3-4mm at day 9 on the first scan but by day 18 I had 2 of over 15mm. I think if he tells me to go for a late scan I will still book one with my local clinic as I don't want to miss ovulation. I am guessing he booked you in on day 18 on cycle 2 as you ovulated late the month before.

Snoopy they grow 1-2mm a day with 18mm being when they should ovulate. I did the trigger shot the day after my scan so they would have grown to around 16-17mm. By Sunday they could have grown to between 18-21mm. It takes around 36 hours to ovulate from the time you do the shot although I think mine was more like 43ish hours as I had ovulation cramps.

One thing I don't know is if you don't do the trigger shot does it mean only 1 egg will release? Euro can you ask him tomorrow (if you see this in time)?

snoopygirl · 21/02/2012 21:27

Oh bloody hell I've a head like a sieve so I need to focus.....I am doing ov cheap sticks just to see what's occuring. No line this morning so hopefully will be in time for seeing something! or something about to happen..this is so strange never thought I would be doing this....

suemays · 21/02/2012 21:43

I know what you mean Snoopy its so clinical and weird to be doing this. So long as it gets us a result I am prepared to do it though! I have decided that once my 6 rounds of superov are over (if I haven't got pregnant by then), I will be joining Duggs and going for IVF with CGH. I am fed up with waiting and seeing everyone else get pregnant! I don't want to waste time and do another 6 rounds. I have been on steroids etc since Sep so it will be 6 months soon and I don't want to be on the drugs for too long.

Not sure where I will do the IVF yet but I have a few shortlisted.

Pebbles I did some more research on The Oxford Fertility clinic and they do CGH there so you might be able to get your frozen embryos tested for it? I have not discounted there as they work with Dagan Wells who was one of the pioneers of CGH and the leader in his field. Apparently he is developing another version of CGH which is supposed to be even more successful (close to 100%) so I am guessing the Oxford Fertility clinic would be given the first rights to use it again.
Have a read of this:
www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2050297/IVF-test-guarantees-success-available-months.html

Duggs you might want to investigate this????

Pebbles73 · 21/02/2012 22:54

Good luck for your scans Snoopy and Euro look forward to seeing how you get on. I was just wondering if you all use ovulation sticks with the super ov treatment ? I was thinking I wouldn't need to as it is monitored......
So you have decided to go for it then Sue with the ivf, aways feels good to have a plan in place.
I remember reading that article about that and sounds fantastic. Only thing is they like to test the embryos on day 5 ideally and mine never get that far. They always put them back in by day three but maybe they can still test then as well.

suemays · 21/02/2012 23:25

Yes think that will be my last chance by doing IVF. Seeing as I am 40 in April I don't want to leave it too much longer. I have shortlisted the clinics to the Oxford Fertility Centre and ARGC in London but hopefully I won't need to do it if I get pregnant in the next 4 months!
I was using ovulation sticks but after the HCG shot and then stupidly realised that of course it will be positive due to the drugs! OPKs rarely work for me anyway so we have been SWiing every other day from day 6 just to cover all bases! Very tiring! I think they advice to use them so that you dont miss ovulation.

snoopygirl · 22/02/2012 09:27

pebbles i am checking on cheap sticks each day just in case CD8 today so while test in a bit. Really not looking forward to it.

does it hurt at all sue or just uncomfortable? Is it like the probe the they do the early internal scans with?

sue good to have you plan in place. Lets hope you won't have to go down that rd.

Pebbles73 · 22/02/2012 10:17

I just assumed I wouldn't need to use them as Mr S advises when to swi anyway. They never work for me either Sue so if all is looking good from the scan will have to go with swi every other day. Where do you get your cheap ones from Snoopy?

snoopygirl · 22/02/2012 10:29

I get them off ebay pebbles the one step ones which seem fairly reliable for me. I just like to keep an eye on what's going on in there and was just hoping that I wouldn't ov before scan tomorrow. Which I don't think so as I normally ov around day 13/14.
They are so cheap incl the pregnancy testing ones it's crazy how you get ripped off with the others just because their in fancy plastic packaging. although if it ever happened can appreciate the digi ones the spell out "Your pregnant 1-2 weeks or whatever. Getting through so many just can't afford £10/15 a time for the others.

Pebbles73 · 22/02/2012 13:21

Thanks Snoopy and Sue is so good to have yo uall to chat about this. It can get quite stressfull all of this!
I think I will leave the ov sticks and just go with waht Mr S says.

Snoopy when Iwas doing ivf and they checked and measured my follicles it was the usual dildo cam. I didn't find it painful jsut a bit uncomfortable as my uterus is at a bit of an angle so they sometimes find it hard seeing everything.
I msut get on Amazon and order some pregnancy tests and yes Snoopy they do get very expensive buying them from Boots etc.

snoopygirl · 22/02/2012 14:07

did you chat with anyone when going through ivf Pebbles.(i've never been on a chat board in my life)! It does help talking to those going through same thing. Even if it's not related to it and just chit chat. Other board was making me laugh out loud yesterday which is great otherwise we'd all be sobbling Smile

eurochick · 22/02/2012 16:26

snoopy it was booked late simply because I didn't ovulate until day 20 on the first cycle and when I went to be scanned on day 12 it was far too early to see anything. To be fair he gave me the option of doing an earlier scan or booking a later one and using OPKs to see if I was likely to ovulate earlier. I went for the latter option and got my LH surge just after everyone had left for the day on a Friday and then ovulated on the Saturday, so it was just bad timing.

sue my cycles were pretty consistent before the Letrozole. In fact, I had a complete stress out on here over Xmas because I was on my first Letrozole cycle and my ov seemed to have gone awol! (That was when I eventually ovulated on day 20.) Naturally, I ovulate on days 14 or 16, more or less alternating (I think one ovary is a little lazier than the other!). The 2 Letrozole cycles I have completed so far have been on different doses which I think explains the change. I have just been scanned on day 12 of my 3rd cycle (same Letrozole dose as cycle 2 when I ovulated on day 13/14) and I have one 22mm follicle ready to pop (plus a smaller one on the other side) so naturally it would have been days 13-14 again I reckon, but I will inject tonight so the drugs will dictate when it happens.

I hadn't seen your Q before my appointment, sue, as I was in meetings all morning and then went straight to NLC. I think you can ovulate more than one egg on Clomid/Letrozole without the trigger shot but it is more likely with?

Pebbles I didn't use OPKs with my first cycle but did for the second in an effort to time the scan right.

Pebbles73 · 22/02/2012 22:06

Snoopy I only lurked on ivf ones so this is the first time I posted on a chat board too. I have a close friend who was also going through ivf (she had a 7mth old baby girl now) so always had her to chat/ vent to.

Did anyone find the letrezole made thier af last longer? I am now on day 8 and still spotting today! Think will email Louise tomorrow as if I am still spotting then surely scan on Friday will be too early??
It's so fab to have you all to talk to about this. Smile

eurochick · 22/02/2012 22:22

Pebbles if anything I have found the opposite - my AF seems to disappear sooner than usual. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the Letrozole. I had put it down to the acupuncture. But in September, I was bled for 9 days and I would say 7 was average. But the last couple of months I have been done in 5, which is usually short for me.

suemays · 22/02/2012 22:37

Pebbles I had exactly the same thing this month as was spotting from day 6-10. Louise told me its a side effect of the letrozole so dont worry! The sonographer could see a small clot when I had my scan at day 9 so that explained it! Nothing to worry about. It might be too early for a scan based on my small follicle at day 9 (3-4mm) but you might be different. I would still go for it just to see.
Euro I found the preds have made my AF shorter - going from 5 days down to one at its shortest in December! Damn drugs, wish we could come off of them and have a normal pregnancy! Thanks for the advice about the egg release, I will ask next time I am there.

suemays · 22/02/2012 22:38

Snoopy forgot to say, the scanner is the same as the dildocam.

Pebbles73 · 22/02/2012 22:57

Thanks for the info ladies relieved sue that it is the letrezole causing it.

duggs1976 · 23/02/2012 00:21

I always spotted right up until scans on cd 9 or 10 and sizes ok on letrozole Smile

OP posts:
jaffajiffy · 23/02/2012 08:18

Hi pebbles my AF is only 3 days! Cycle is 27/8d but used to be 22-24. I worry that's not long enough but have never found any Internet research to say that's not ok. But I agree, not much point scanning if you're still finishing AF. See what Louise says.

I had spots on letrozole this cycle too! Weird having adolescent symptoms when my body is actually too old to have decent eggs anymore. I'm on 750mg (mcg?) which, Mr S said with a cackle, is WAY higher than the normal dose of 200 for breast cancer patients. Great!

I've got one week left of mentalling. I'm feeling relaxed at the moment (helped by Egyptian sun and sand). No pg symptoms at all. Last month I had the bloody 1812 overture going on down there at this point. Hope you ladies are happy with daily mentalling updates from me. Hormone farm seems dazed with the heat so far though Smile. We leave later today, and I'll be distraught.
